Title: Problems with clothing mesh
Post by: Dullahan on July 04, 2011, 03:23:41 pm
I am kinda new at making clothes. I made this new mesh, and I was positive I did everything right, but when I load it in bodyshop, it looks like this (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn169/DanielBiroisCool/meshproblem1.png)
or this. (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn169/DanielBiroisCool/meshproblem2.png)
It looks fine in Milkshape and wings 3D, but obviously I did something wrong, and I have no idea what.
Help, please?

Also, here is the file so if anyone wants to look at it.

The skeleton has exploded, it looks like. Something probably went wrong in the import/export bit somewhere.

Which tutorial are you using? I do suggest you follow one in the beginning, or you'll get problems like this all the time.

Oh, and you need to do two things to make the mesh look actaully handless - first close up the hole (or there will be a hole ingame too), and also unhatch the "auto smooth" under the Groups tab (as you've got smoothing troubles on the mesh).

I used Neptune Suzy's. http://www.personal-computer-tutor.com/sims2/suzysclothingtut.htm

I was planning on doing the hole thing. :]
I was just testing to see if the mesh even worked.

There are some better tutorials at GoS and MTS. Looks like a few of the names have changed (the mesh import is not named that for me), and the neck gap thing is wrong (you should not have to move the neckline). There should not be any neck gaps or normal troubles (look at the feet in pic#2) if you do it the right way.

The "TUTORIAL: Adding New Shoes To A Mesh - Warning!! Pic Heavy!!"
and "Tutorial: Age-Conversion Tutorial (Warning: Picture Heavy!)" from here (http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?board=34.0) has a few good tips (if you look away from the actual shoe thing and age converting thing)

Okay, I will take a look at those and see if I can fix the mesh. :]
Thanks~

Obviously, clothing is a lot harder than object meshes. xD At least for me.

With those troubles it's probably best if you start over, or you'll get in big troubles with the skeleton...
If you import the mesh correctly, the only things you'll need to edit are the hand and the morphs. Remember to turn off auto smooth before you import the mesh. Saves lots of troubles.

Okay, then.

I'll remember that. :]
