Title: Bleeding mesh
Post by: princessheard on August 22, 2012, 03:00:56 pm
I tried to mesh a outfit to look like a bodyshape that i modified but the body is bleeding through the outfit. I was wondering if anyone knew why this is happening.

Just like your last meshing request, I've moved this the correct section.

Please post all meshing and content creation questions/requests, to this section (Content Creation & Recoloring Help).

Is the mesh alpha-editable?
Sometimes if you mess with the transparency, or try to make it alpha-editable, it will mess up the transparency and make it do that.

yes, I think so because it has more than one group when I import it into milkshape. Do you know how I can fix it?

Can you post a screenshot of the bleeding mesh?

It sound to me like a material problem, which is a fairly easy fix, but I want to be sure.

I have to wonder if it's a texture problem or a problem with a misaligned mesh? What I mean: An example would be if you took General Zoi's short jacket accessory (made for the Maxis default body shape) and put it on, say, a Sim using the Fit Chick or Rio body shape then the breasts, shoulders and other parts would bleed or poke through the jacket texture. Is that what you're talking about?

Note the images above. Does your item "bleed through" like that? If so then it's a mesh problem and it has nothing to do with the alpha texture and the mesh, itself, needs to be modified to fit the body shape. (A lot of work, I know, but what can you do?)

This is what i mean.. The white part is the body and the black part is the skirt.. you see how the body is bleeding through. The body is Warlokks bodyshape that i modified to my liking.

It does look like what edinfresno described, and I have had this problem many a time.

The skirt needs to be reshaped to fit the body, or the body will poke through.
In other words, the hips and such need to be made bigger to fit the body.

Unfortunately, the only solution is to export the mesh out of the package, reshape it in milkshape and re import it into your game. Yeah, I know... A lot of work but, if you really want it to work that's what you'll have to do.

The best way to do that is to select the area you want to resize,
(http://i.imgur.com/hYe8W.png)
Select 'scale' and choose the direction you want,

And then hit scale.

You will want to experiment with the sizes.

Thats not working.. the body is scaling with the skirt.

Is it in separate pieces?
If so, then hide the body and select the skirt.
Then unhide the body, and do what you need to.

That looks very similar to Bobby's Bootylicious shape
Looks like the skirt and body have merged into one.

I think you need to start again and keep the skirt as a seperate group. Size the body first and then size the skirt around the body
If you want the mesh as one group then do it afterwards when finished editing.

Its warlokks CPU.. I just made it look the way I wanted. What do you mean size the body? That's the way I want the body to look. I'm still having problems with the front and back.. wen I scale it looks loose. I want it to fit tight on the body.

If you want the body to look like that, then just resize the skirt.
After you make the butt/hips/etc bigger, make the waist smaller so it will fit to the body better.
