This mod gives your Sims four new Lifetime wants the natural science career ,the showbiz career, the paranormal craeer, & the artist career; it also adds four new memories for those Lifetime wants, see screenshots.

This mod is compatible with FFS & GLS.

Hurray Squinge! Duh! By the way, you were able to ADD LTWs, would you SUBTRACT some, please!
I would like to get rid of Family LTW (Have 6 (gran-,)children; Graduate children) 'cause I'm playing one-kid-only families.
To ban the Pleasure and Grilled cheese LTW (have 50 dream dates, etc)
Reason: I'm using your mod to allow all LTWs to everyone and have no fun to play dates.

Last question: do you know if your new LTW's can be used by Pescado's College clock? (I'm also going to test when I get to it)

I have wanted these for SO long, it seemed so stupid that they weren't in the game and the reason Maxis gave for disabling them was lame in the extreme.  Would also LOVE to see the other two, but in the meantime thank you very much for these.

Thank you once again! Too bad the artist career is giving you greif, but three out of four is better than none!

I tired it again but it still wouldn't work,I think it may be a bug in that career causing the problem :)
 
edit: I emailed the artist part to syberspunk hopefully he will be able to fix that part.

I tried the first two with the eko guru and mine never showed up,  I installed them as instructed in the sims directory res, wants and I put the other two files in my downloads but my sims did not get new lifetime wants.  When do they show up?   when a sim is aging from child to adult or what?  Sorry maybe I am not understanding the way to use them.   thanks

They are random, like all the other LTW. All LTW stay the same with a sim until they:

1.reach their current one, then it will give them a new one
2.grow up from a child to a teen
3.or if you make a new sim.

Also, these new ones only appear for certain aspirations. Like Ecological Guru and Cult Leader will show up for Knowledge sims, Cult Leader will also show up for Popularity, etc.

Shortgal, Nec is right about that. Also, you can use either the insimenator, two jeff's college adjuster, or something similar to re-roll the LTWs for existing sims. Re-roll enough and they will get the new LTWs, eventually.

Ozzucay is right about that :), also you can enable testing cheats and then spawn the sim modder by shift-clicking on your sim. That has the option to add want slots, and re-roll LTW as well.

wow this is so cool, I got it to work, when I added the lifetime wants for all sims and I use the insim to reroll.  I got a paranormal lifetime want.  yeah!!!


 I can't find the thread that has the artist lifetime want.  Was that in the first one?  I deleted it before I found out how to use it and download the latest three, the paranormal, showbiz and science.

I thought it would be faster for me to post this here rather than email you. I hope you don't mind Squinge. Especially since things were done in a similar way when you were collaborating with jase on the breast feeding hack. :)
 
After a few days of testing, staring at the code for a loooooooooooooooooong time, and going a little bit crazy :hammer: I managed to find out the teeny tiny mistake. Whew.
 
It is pretty easy to miss, but what happened was, in the 'CT - Add Memory' BHAV from the MemoryVisionary.package file, there was a single typo. I should have seen this right away, since the error log even points to that line. You had:
 
[prim 0x007C] Want Satisfy (GUID 0x8E9560DB, Want target: Param 0x0001, (optional) Want level: Literal 0x000A)
 
instead of
 
[prim 0x007C] Want Satisfy (GUID 0x8E9560D8, Want target: Param 0x0001, (optional) Want level: Literal 0x000A)
 
A simple mistake, but I can totally understand how it was missed. I stared at it for a long time, and flipping back and forth between the Wants.package, the WantsTuning.package, and the MemoryVisionary.package I did not see it with my own eyes. :tongue3: It wasn't until I went to the trouble of physically copying the text from one and pasting it manually into the other files that I finally noticed the slight difference. :doh: Silly me. In all fairness, the 'B' is so similar to an '8' if you just glance at it.
 
Anyways, we can finaly :party1: because all 4 Uni LTWs have been enabled! Yay! Thank you so much Squinge for figuring all of this out. I greatly appreciate it. My game totally needs more variety. Core files or not, this is sorely needed. At least until Maxis wakes up and fixes it themselves. But I won't hold my breath. :P
 
Anyways, I will attach the new zip file here, complete with the Wants.package, WantsTuning.package and the four memories - MemoryEcologicalGuru.package, MemoryParanormal.package, MemoryShowbiz.package, and MemoryVisionary.package as well as updated versions of the RTFMs. I will also attach before and after pics captured from in game showing the LTW being fulfilled.
 
And I'll leave it up to Squinge to move the file up to the first post where it belongs. :)

Squinge, after I installed this, the icon for the Pleasure sim which normally appears when you click on the family info, disappeared from the neighbourhood screen.  
The Pleasure icon is there for the Pleasure sim when you load the lot and look at the panel that lists wants, fears, moods etc.  I did follow the install info carefully.  Have you noticed this in your game?

No I didn't which EP version are you using ?

Oh Great Hack Daddy Squinge, please answer the question of your faithful wench: If I have EP3, but not FFS, do I need the EP3 version, or the EP2 one?

You need EP3 version.  Always install mods in regards of the most recent EP you have.

The EP3/FFS version is working with both EP3 and/or FFS.

Did you ever notice the problem that Sandilou mentioned while you were testing this?

I have no idea, I never thought of checking that.  You could maybe ask Nec.

I checked the family info in the neighborhood screen and I didn't see the same thing as Sandilou. Everything looked normal to me. :D

That is a strange glitch, I don't think this mod would cause it but you never know :)

Yes.  All the other icons are there - Family, Knowledge etc, but not Pleasure.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who worked on this one.  It's amazing how you guys are able to fix things that are obviously lacking in the game.  Great work!

Hrm I haven't noticed this yet. I will check soon. I have one household that has tons of sims with different aspirations, including Pleasure.

That would be a strange glitch tho. I'm assuming that it went away when you removed the changes and put back your backed up files?

Just thought that I would report, I did a quick check in a household that had a pleasure sim (so far, I only have one in my neighborhood), and the icon was fine. *shrugs* I don't know what could cause that problem other than possibly an impending sign of an approaching BFBFVS or maybe a graphical problem? :dontknow:

Ste - did you check on the neighbourhood lot info screen?  That's where mine are missing.  They are all present and correct when I go into the lot.  It could be that they were missing even before I installed this mod, but I only noticed it after installing because I was checking on aspirations.

I'm going to put back the old files and reload the game, just to see if they are there.  Then I'll redownload the mod files from here this time (I used those at MTS2) and see if it makes any difference.

Edit: Oh dear...no icons on the original program files either! It is the BFVOS after all!  Time to detox my pc with the equivalent of a colonic irrigation - yep... a manual uninstall!

Update: Ew... I did reinstall and I discovered that the Pleasure Sim icon only appears in the Maxis base neighbourhoods - not my custom neighbourhood.  It's not related to the Downloads folder - I removed it completely in both cases.  Is it just my game that's doing this?

Notice: There's a new Maxis Patch for OFB and FFS over at thesims2.com. When you patch your game remember to remove this mod first! Restore your original Wants.package and WantTuning.package (you DID backup the originals, right?) before installing the patch. You can put this mod back afterward.

Just wanted to reply to this as I hadn't checked back in a while...

...by now, it seems you figured out it was a different problem. I did check in the neighborhood view, and my icons were still there, but yes this was a Maxis base hood (Pleasantview). I don't have any custom hoods, so I haven't had a chance to look at this. I will try and check this a little later on my test account to see if a custom hood has problems. But I would still doubt that it would be related to this particular hack, as this hack really shouldn't edit or affect icons. :dontknow:

As for being compatible with the new patches, I imagine they should be. I just installed FFS on my sister's machine and patched. I checked the timestamps of the packages in the Wants folder, and although they do have a different date than OFB, I don't think the size changed significantly. I can't imagine they would have added anything to change wants between OFB and FFS, since FFS is supposed to only be a 'shopping pack' anyways. :rolleyes: I would say that this hack should pretty much be safe for patched OFB And FFS games. :)

Hopefully, with the next shopping pack, it won't be a problem either. It probably won't be an issue really until the next EP/Petz this fall. Because they will most likely edit the Wants packages, and then this mod might need to be updated due to possible instance and GUID changes.

PS. I just wanted to say, even though it's great to thank me, I didn't do any of the work really. I merely was just a second pair of eyes to help suss out a silly, minor thing. Give credit where credit is due, which is all to Squinge. He made this wonderful hack possible and it is a shame that Maxis still won't consider updating this since it would be very easy.

Squinge you are amazing, once again another fabulous mod!

You didn't follow the instructions exactly. You were close. :) Don't move the wants folder out of C:\Program Files\Ea games\The Sims 2 Open For Business\TSData\Res\ that will mess up the game. There are other files in that folder that the game needs. That's why you got the blank wants. Just move the original wantstuning.package and the wants.package to some safe location and copy Squinge's new versions in their place. Then put the memory packages in your downloads folder and everything should be fine from there.:)

When it's time to remove this mod for EP4, I just did a test & the sims will still have their lifetime platinum just leave the new memories included with this mod in your downloads folder & restore the backups of the other files in the wants folder.

This mod seems to be incompatible with Seasons in that it doesn't allow for the new life time wants to display. Ever since I installed Seasons, I've noticed that I could never reroll for the new LTWs, no matter how many times I tried. I finally figured out, after a bit of pruning my downloads, that it's due to this mod.

Any possibility of it being updated? I love having the University LTWs. :)
