Title: EP1 required:Euro Kiss Disabled
Post by: Squinge on June 19, 2006, 07:42:01 pm
This mod prevents sims from greeting each other with the Euro kiss that EP1 introduced.

EP1 is required to use this mod.
This mod is compatible with EP2, EP3 & FFS/GLS.
I try to ensure that all of my mods are 100% bug free but sometimes a bug pops up that I wasn’t aware of; If you find a bug please send me a private message; I can usually fix it within a couple of minutes.

Seems like you're not so certain, either.

Not 100% sure that is true lol.  But it would make sense since this is the way European greets people.

Just curious, because I hadn't noticed this yet, but does this euro kiss cause jealousy? Or is it still a platonic kiss?

Yes, it is. But europeans have many different "euro-kiss". Latins (like Italians, Frenchs and Spains) uses normally one kiss on each cheek, Anglosaxons and nordics in general only one, and finally eastern europeans as Russians, often use three, the final one on the closed mouth or on the first cheek used before.

Finally, Italians only ( :D :D ) prefer to kiss women only one time, but directly with a "deep kiss". ;)

Can you tell me what triggers a euro kiss verses any other type of greeting? I personally like the euro kiss and would prefer it over all other type of kisses (for greetings) and wish it were enabled for both males and females. I have never seen two females euro kiss upon greeting.

Three "attraction" bolts, often trigger the euro kiss.
Normally between sims of different gender, due the gender prefence bias of the game.
I never tried, but I think it's possible to have the euro kiss also for two females if:
1. they have both a great sexual preference for females.
2. they have (consequentely) three attraction bolts for each other.

I like the Euro-kiss.  I've found it to be very natural, but maybe that's because I'm from Miami :)  I have noticed Sims greet each other this way when they have high enough attraction scores, but I've never really noticed anything having to do with the lightning bolts or attraction before.

I don't think any of the greetings cause jealousy I have never had it happen anyway.

I've had best friends of a sim do the Euro Kiss to each other. It doesn't matter if they are attracted or not.

You know, I think Americans are quite fuddy duddy at times.  I mean, here in America people connotate nude beaches with pervs.  In Europe they are no big thing.

We seldom hug or kiss good friends when we greet them.  I don't know if it is the French influence or what, but the only Americans I know who are more open with their affections are some Cajuns I know.

By my dictionary seems "go forward moving arms like a blind", but....

I thought the euro kiss was a straight (no pun intended!) kiss on the cheeks by the sims.

Or does this mean that full-on kiss when 3 bolt greeting, even if friend only and they are MARRIED (no jealousy or falling in love, thank goodness)??? Because that greeting I'd consider getting rid of, gender irrelevant.

I have many of your mods Squinge, but I'm rather very fond of seeing male-male affection and a little kissy on the cheeks is nothing to get all fussed about :P  (Points to avatar sig) so will give this one a miss if it's only that.

Aren't German men greeting this way?

We were raised differently in America, Europeans see nothing wrong in 2 men kissing cheek for greetings.  I don't personally mind either.

As said in my first post here, cheek kissing for men is normally but not often used by latins europeans (Italians, French and Spanish), more often by balcanics and eastern eurpoeans and finally very low used by Germans and Northerns in general. I can say this quite sure due my journeys around Europe in the past.

It all comes to personal preference, really :) Some of us like the "typical male" and some have wide cultural values. Don't think the simmies give a damn one way or another though, it's just us control freaks that like things just so.

The Euro Kiss didn't bother me at first -- till I saw two of my story-villains greet each other in this manner, which was very out-of-character for them. Thank you very much for this hack!

Program I would to see or if there were ever any future Sims games, pending on the sims or how the three sims are with one another, no jealously at all! if all three sims love each other, why get mad at one another if romance is done in front of 3rd?

There are several no jealousy mods out there. Jealousy can be turned off with the InSIMenator, Squinge has a no jealousy for Romance or Pleasure Aspirations, LizzLove has a global no jealousy mod, there are probably more but I can't remember them all, lol. :)

Great stuff Squinge, your mods rock.

Any chance you could make a version that disables the euro kiss for male-to-male greetings and enables it for female-to-either gender greetings?

Being french myself, I can just tell this..."euro kiss", is used in france by male toward female usually, but on some occasions we kiss this way male-to-male on celebrations like birthdays or Christmas...In particular when people are familiar and are acquaintances.

Otherwise, male french usualy shake hands. By the way, this kiss has no particular naming besides the fact itself : "embrasser sur les joues" or more usualy "faire la bise".:)

This thread is a little old but I just wanted to add my two cents.  I just wanted to say that my sims do get jealous over greeting kisses but I've never noticed any romantic connatations with the euro-kiss.  My sims use it a lot.  I have one female sim who usually greets her mother this way.  I play with General Buzz Grunt in Strangetown though and it's really funny when he euro-kiss greets this one CAS neighbor of his who has the body builder meshed biker outfits.  That's a sight to see.
