This mod allows sims to sit on the floor & watch TV.
I have only tested this with EP3 but it should work for all versions.
This mod is compatible with FFS & GLS.

Thanks :) yes it should work with all the ages that the video game works with I used the same function to get them to sit on the floor.

It really makes you wonder why Maxis didn't just do this to begin with. It's so obvious, and the fact that they had the animation for the video game just makes it all the more a mystery why they left it out.

Just curious how this works... a few questions:

1) Will sims still search for seats first before using the floor?

2) Is there a limit to how many sims can sit on the floor, or is the limit only dependent on the space you have in the room?

3) Is this permitted through 'joining' other sims? i.e. if the couch is full, and I ask other sims to join, will they try to find a spot on the floor? or... if the couch is full and I order my standing sim to join them... will s/he try and find a spot on the floor?

Great idea btw. Next thing would be to allow hacks sitting at other angles to watch the tv. It seems silly that... sims will have conversations with other sims, like say...when eating, even if they are back to back/behind each other... or even in another room. And yet... they all must face the TV directly just to watch it. Stupid sims. :P

It works just like playing the video game works, if you look at the screenshot you will see sims are sitting on the sofa & some are sitting on the floor if a sim is standing then it makes them sit on the floor so if there are no chairs or sofas they will just sit on the floor, & yes you can ask sims to join while sitting on the floor or sofa,  how many can sit I believe it would depend on how your house is setup :)

someone commented earlier that sims should be able to watch tv from other angles other than facing directly forward - i heartily agree !  it would be great if they could watch from seats that are on a 45 degree angle, as i place a lot of my sofa-chairs that way.

This is great so far but... is it possible to make it so sims don't route to directly in frount of couches? Can you make them choose spaces off to the side, or at least one tile past the opening tiles to couches and chairs.

I had an instance where, one sim was sitting down in the only living chair, which only had one tile between it and the TV. As a result, a second sim came along and plopped herself right on that tile. I thought, neat! Now they can both watch tv. :D

Well... when I wasn't looking, the sim in the chair somehow managed to sneak out and a 3rd sim came along to try to use the chair. Well... the sim sitting on the floor was now blocking the way. I know I could easily cancel the sim out and what not, but I was just wondering, since you're hack is making them route to find a space to sit, can you make it route to tiles that do not block other objects, namely chairs and sofas/couches? I guess it didn't block the sim from escaping, but it apparently blocks entry.

Actually it's the force sit on floor global function that tells sims where to sit, you could look inside that function or I will when I get a chance to see if there is anyway to change it :)

One of the most useful mods I've seen.  Thank you.  It's sometimes difficult to fit more than two sims in front of the tv.  Problem solved.

I may have already posted in this thread but I don't care, this is quite possibly the most Non-Awesome mod ever. :)  The only thing that could be better than this, would be for Sims to be able to watch TV from an angle, like from a sofa that's not right in front of the TV.  I don't know if Squinge could do that, it might be up to Maxis, but next to that, sitting on the floor to watch is the next best thing and it improves things SO much.  Non-Awesome Modders Rule!

Cool breezes! Now I'll have more floor space.  I put extra couches, chairs and love seats around a TV and maybe only one or two sims use them and they end up taking up way too much space.

This is such a fantazmically awesome (or non-awesome, as the case may be) mod I'm having trouble containing myself.  I *rarely* sit on the couch or in a chair when I watch TV- I love being on the floor, so why not my sims?! Thank You Squinge, just for being you.

I have had this hack since it came out, but not sure I ever said how MUCH I appreciate this!  One of my most useful hacks ever, saves SO much room and looks SO cute when kids do it!

saying "look, we have more than 2 people watching t.v. ! This is THE coolest mod yet! Now they can watch t.v. like the rest of us do.. Very cool, thank you :)

Maxis does say that about some of the hacks, but I've never had a problem with this one and I have that message turned off (you can turn the message off :)) since it states it about so many of my hacks that work together perfectly.  I have University, Nightlife, Open For Business, Pets, Seasons, and Holiday Stuff - and Squinge's mod works great!

I put this in my game.

Now, when I click on the floor, the TV or a Sim, an option doesn't show up to sit on the floor to watch TV.

I'm going to assume the TV has to be on first.

I have the base game, University, Nightlife, and OFB.

It doesn't show an option they just do it but if you have a sofa or chair they sit after those seats are taken :)
