Title: Base Meshes & Linked (Maxis) Skintones
Post by: BeosBoxBoy on July 19, 2006, 03:17:35 am
These are the basic full body (no-nipples) with and without the infamous bulge.
They are the absolute must for starting any bodybuilder collection. You
should download all of these, yes there are two versions of the nude that
are identical in shape but they have different GUID numbers, and since
there is no easy way to tell which version the creators out there chose to
use, it is best to have both versions.  The top mesh is the same throughout
so do let that over-write itself when you are extracting the files.

Read this for more detailed information: Marvine & Beosboxboy's Mesh & Texture Policy (http://www.insimenator.org/showthread.php?t=40961)

(http://www.insimenator.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=27584&stc=1&d=1153296534)(http://www.insimenator.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=27586&stc=1&d=1153296534)

The skintones are not pictured, since they are just the Maxis default skins
"shower-proofed" to use the bodybuilder nude meshes.

Formerly there were two versions of these skintones - one linked to the bulge
version of the bottom, but it was obsolesced as we made versions with and
without plumbing.  The versions of the meshes posted here for the skintones
are non-bulge in consideration of Crammyboy's masterful hack.

SPECIAL NOTE TO CUSTOM CONTENT CREATORS: when making recolours of
the skintones, make sure to use the Dark version as your recolouring base,
Body Shop has a nasty habit of not including the face or scalp specifications
in the final project if you use any other colour.

Update 30 September 2006: Added bump-map enabled versions of the fullbody
with and without bulge - the new RAR files have "bump" at the end of the name.

Hi....first post here with a question.....can somebody point me in the direction on a tut on how to make these skins permanent to a particular Sim? So it doesn't get chucked in the shower and all that.

Title: Base Meshes & Linked (Maxis) Skintones
Post by: BeosBoxBoy on July 21, 2006, 03:51:37 pm
Intermagus - there isn't a tutorial because it is mind-numbingly easy - use a shower-proof skintone when you create the Sim.

You will need to decide on which version, and there are far to many too list them all here, and whether or not you want to use Crammyboy's hack or the version of the skintone that comes with its own plumbing is a decision only you can make.  In all the hard part for most people is deciding which version, and no one can help you there.

But remember - the "shower-proof" skintones have to be used and require meshes - and as previously stated are very numerous in variety.  But to start - just use one of the basic mesh versions above and give it a test run.

Please explain the difference between a normal skin and shower-proof skin. Is there some way to identify them using a package editor or some other means? Or make an existing skin so? Please forgive my ignorance.....I'm relatively new to the terminology used in the explanation.

Thank you very much.

Title: Base Meshes & Linked (Maxis) Skintones
Post by: BeosBoxBoy on July 21, 2006, 11:23:42 pm
a normal skintone is one shipped by Maxis or one that uses the Maxis default nude meshes; "shower-proof" skintones have been modified by a very clever hacking (discovered by the lovely Marvine - all praise her name eternally) that use custom meshes.

Most will have a custom icon that informs you they are linked in some manner to something.  Below are examples of the icons you can expect to see.

When you are building a Sim in Create-A-Family or Create-A-Student, you click the * by the darkest Maxis skintone, select the one you want -- keep in mind you will not suddenly see the mesh it uses in a true nude state, that will only occur in game -- and that bit of doing is done.

If you find they are just a floating head in the shower, you have neglected to download the meshes or placed them in a location that the game cannot find them.  For this reason nude state meshes should always be in the Downloads folder, not a folder inside the Downloads folder.  Some versions of the game may or may not work the other way; but since I am not psychic I only give the advice I know to work 100% of the time.

So to recap - download the skintone you like, get the meshes, install all in your Downloads folder, start the game and get as twisted as you want to be making literally dozens of different versions of the same Sim.

PS: "shower-proof" is a common terminology, I suggest you take a moment to look at the genetics section of this sub-forum for further information

possibly - there are additional meshes that are linked to adult versions with "plumbing" in the adults only section of the forum

These are great, I too am going to try bodybuilders in my game.  I do have a lot of questions about how they appear when they go to work (clothing & meshes), but I can wait and see what happens.  If I continue to look through this site, that will probably be answered too.  The questions and answers following the "attached files" have answered all the other questions I would have ask.

I've just downloaded some of your great slim body builder meshes, and one shower proof file. I've read the explanation in the beginning of this thread, and other less descriptive explanations on various other sites.

I still have some questions, and i didn't know where else to ask.

you mentioned genetics, are the shower-proof skintones passed down to kids?
how does the game know how to use the shower proof nudes? does it link "this sim is wearing this mesh, which corresponds to this nude mesh"?
will my sim's original skintone show? if not, is there a way to get the sim's individual skintone to show?
can your sim's genetics be custom skintones for the showeproof or will it only link to default skintones?
and lastly, is there a tutorial to make showerproof skins?

hee, sorry, if that was too many questions and
if this is the wrong place to post this, i'll repost it somewhere else if you'll direct me.

Thanks bunches! *hugs*

Thank you so much for this wonderful download. I used the body builder in my Dragonlance neighborhood as Caramon; next to him Raistlen now does indeed look weak and sickly. LOL. Really great download. By the way, I have Pets installed, everything went into the SavedSims folder, and so far everything works perfectly, no problems. Where can I get more clothes for the muscular male body. I downloaded the jeans, tops, underware, g-sting, workout wear and some sweater sets that can be used for Winter outerware but didn't notice any downloads for formal wear. Is there other sites I can find more clothing or specifically Formal outfits for the body builder physique?

Post by: andromeda0811 on March 28, 2008, 01:23:25 pm
First I have to say that ur work is great, I love it. But I have a problem, I create a sim using beos-ju_barbienude-light.package, it appears with no muscles.. that is ok because I like it that way, I love the face and body effects, but when I play the game and make my sim, for example, go to take a bath, or get nude, he looks muscled like the pics above  :(  . I'd like to know what to do to fix this problem, I really like my sims with beos-ju_barbienude-light.package but I want it all the playing time.

Thanks :)

Amen to that, and thanks for the very good explanation. Also many many thanks for the meshes - finally a small counterweight to all those cupDDDD meshes! Now I can just get as dirty-minded about my sims as 15 year old boys. Oh joy.:blob6:
