Title: How can I save houses that I have built?
Post by: nappyluvin on September 20, 2006, 08:37:38 am
Hey guys!

Me again, boy I am just full of questions this morning. I am not all that crazy about building. I just like to get my sims in some cool houses and play. I actually use floor plans when I design a house and am proud to say have made some pretty cool ones. How do I save them in a folder, just in case I have to re-install or something? Thanks.:dontknow:

you can put the house down on a plot and then click on it so you get the white info box in the botton left corner of that box to can click to package lot either to file or to the main sims site

if you package to file it will be saved in

My documents/EA games/the Sims 2/PackagedLots

It should stay in there if you made it before you moved sims in it.

If you move the family out before you package the lot, the furniture is gone and the funds added to the family funds.  Furnish it before moving the family in, or package the family with the lot, and the furniture stays.

Remember if you are sharing the lot with anyone to identify all of your custom content.

Life without a grill is sooooo boring.

If you're planning to package your lots for uploading and sharing with others, you should strictly avoid packaging lots directly to the Exchange on the Sims 2 official website if you have used any custom content whatsoever. Most content creators specifically ask that you do not upload their work to the Exchange. Also, make sure that you've read the policies of each content creator carefully before including custom content in your lot.

You will want to check the lot package with the Clean Installer before uploading, to make sure that it hasn't included custom content you didn't intend to include.

And be sure to credit all custom content authors in your upload! This is extremely important.

Of course, if you're just trying to package a lot for your own use, then you don't have to worry about all of the above.

There's a "moveobject stayer" plant/bush on simlogical.com that makes objects stay at move out

Ok...Let's say you package a lot for your personal use...and it goes to the appropriate folder. And you want to lay that packaged lot down in an empty space in one of the neighborhoods...how do you access that packaged lot? Do you have to move it to another folder or something to make it available in the game?

Edit...Nevermind. You just double click on the file and install it.

Thanx Tomkat... I completely forgot about that site and that shrub. Now I can keep my test sim from stealing the furniture when she moves out of my new houses...
