I was hunting around for some things to download and at one of the adult sites I found someone offering a hack of an adult nature that modified the scrolling text the game displays while loading with “Adult Language.” It was an interesting idea but it only worked for FFS, was a little crudely worded and the pedants were raking the maker over the coals for his/her misspellings. I thought that perhaps there may be interest in a similar hack for general audiences, specifically InSim members, so I made these. Instead of the default text which is funny for a day or two but gets old after time, you get the following (same for all versions and it also will of course get old after time):   Waking up the Reaper
Loading Kathy's Basement
InSimenating the InSimenator
Error-proofing the Forum Database
Lowering Ethical Standards
Corrupting Your Downloads
You Didn't Need that File Did You?
Ruining Your Sims Lives
Making Doors Stick Open
Reformatting Your Hard Drive
If you should tire of these, by all means open the file in SimPe, click on the “EP/SP Startup Strings” file for the newest expansion/pack that you have and change the text to whatever you like.

Only download the file that corresponds to the latest expansion you have. There is no file for the holiday pack, sorry but that one I don’t have. The expansions in order:
TS2 - base game
UNI – University (EP1)
NL – Nightlife (EP2)
OFB – Open for Business (EP3)
FFS – Family Fun Stuff (SP1)
GLS – Glamour Life Stuff (SP2)

Seasons - (EP5)

This file goes in your downloads folder. It is a direct copy of the original file Maxis included with the base game and each succeeding expansion/pack, with changes made to the text strings. Anyone with knowledge of the game’s file structure should be able to make their own version of this if they don’t like mine (or just alter mine.) Should you need to remove it or wish to alter it, its name is UIText.package. If you upgrade your game and come back for a later file, simply extract the new file to your downloads folder and allow it to overwrite.

Thank you very much Micco. You don't need to make one for the Holiday Party Pack, it just kind of installs into the base game and does not edit the loading screen.

You may want to try downloading again, the file I have as well as the file that is available for downloading both should have you either error-proofing the forum database or corrupting your downloads. Did you allow it to overwrite on the first attempt?

Downloaded again, let it overwrite, still gleefully stacking inventories :?

Ok, I'm assuming you have custom content enabled. A couple of things to try; first try deleting the UIText.package file from your Downloads, re-download and extract the file and try it.

If that doesn't work, select the drive you installed the game to, go to program files/EA Games/The Sims 2 Seasons/TSData/Res/Text. Find the UIText.package file and zip/rar it for a backup and then install the modified file there.

Let me know what happens please.

Ah, I know what's happened. I've got it open in SimPE as I type and I've been having a look - you didn't copy the string to all; I'm using the UK version, and the strings there haven't been changed ;)

I'm going to have to remove the "Loading Kathy's Basement" string.

It's already too crowded down here, and Kathy keeps tripping when she comes down to whip her minions back in line.

Fortunately, I'm just repainting the place for her.

Stupid me, how could I possibly not realize that English meant American. Must be all those extra U's you use ;)

I'll get these straightened out this afternoon.

@Cocytus: you might want to replace that with "Abusing Squinge" :D


Edit: Added strings for UK version to all files. Odd they did it that way as all the spellings were Americanized.

I am having the same problem. I took out the package file, and edited the original one for my needs, and that worked fine for a little while, and then it randomly switched back to the custom ones here (mid-splashscreen I might add!), and re-put the package back in downloads, all by itself! :oogle:

How is this possible, and how do I fix it?

Will there be an FT version?

I created my own version based on creatures in the game(except aliens) up to BV and also on Marsha Breunig,who's in the killing business in my game. ;D Vampire slayer at the moment,even though I adore my vampires.I have the cauldron and magic skill from MTS2 and the Vampire Hunter Set by Shaklin,which is what the last two strings are on about. ;D Alika is the god of fire.
The strings are:

Powering On Servos
Throwing Bones At Werewolves
