Title: Masri Family Requires OFB Fixed
Post by: Amira on October 23, 2006, 12:41:38 am
Hey everyone, I didn't see a section for just sims family, maybe there is, but I didn't see it. Sorry about that I can be slow sometimes. Well, before I get started I would like to give everyone a little information on my Muslim family that I have made and tell you the things you will see in the pictures. Why does a Muslim woman cover her body I'm sure you all are probably wondering. Here is the answer to your question. The file includes Aya and Rami Masri also Ramis sister Dima Masri. Dima is single if Dima is to get married it needs to be with a Muslim Sim or a convert. In the religion of Islam a Muslim woman can only marry a Muslim man beause in Islam we believe the religion is only through the father and the kids are raised with the teachings of the fathers religion a Muslim man may marry women of the book which would be Christians or Jewish women.

So what do the Quran and Sunna have to say about women's dress? Here is one verse that deals with this question. Here is Surah an-Nur verse 31.

Surah an-Nur verse 31 reads:

And say to the faithful women to lower their gazes, and to guard their private parts, and not to display their beauty except what is apparent of it, and to extend their headcoverings (khimars) to cover their bosoms, and not to display their beauty except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband's fathers, or their sons, or their husband's sons, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their womenfolk, or what their right hands rule (slaves), or the followers from the men who do not feel sexual desire, or the small children to whom the nakedness of women is not apparent, and not to strike their feet (on the ground) so as to make known what they hide of their adornments. And turn in repentance to God together, O you the faithful, in order that you are successful.

So, if you have anymore questions why Muslim women cover please pm me I'm willing to answer any question. Also, I made a Muslim women that covers all of her face which in Arabic is called Niqab. In Islam that is optional, some women feel closer to God if they cover all of their face. Also, women that wear Hijab (scarf) feel closer to God even if thier face isn't cover. Remember everyone it is a Muslim womans choice to wear the Islamic covering, but in one point of thier life they must adopt wearing Hijab. Sorry for the long post, but I want people to understand the Islamic head scarf and Niqab that Muslim women wear. Also, keep in mind the Muslim sim women cannot be seen in front of other sim unless it's close relatives so if she wants to go swimming or go outside not covered make sure it's in her own home or a private womens club house, but make sure no other sim male that isn't her close relative see her. I forgot to add Muslim women can not be seen in front of male cousins. In Islam you can marry your cousin, but it's not recommended. Don't give me that "eww" junk a lot of Muslims don't marry their cousins.

I tried my best to get the information of each custom content for the sims I made. Chirko has some pretty good Islamic type of clothing like modest wear.

amar_el7ob, these are utterly gorgeous Sims, and I cannot thank you enough for making such excellent Muslim content for this game!  We need more people who are willing to present a positive view of Islam and it's way of life!  The television media only every focuses on the negative of all life on earth.  They never tell us of the 10 million not murders in a huge city - only the 7 murders that did occur; they never focus on the hard-working, honest person who struggles to make sure his family is safe and happy, only the person throwing a Molotov cocktail at a car.  They never focus on the poetry, art, and archecture that celebrate life and its beauty, only the garish and unpleasant.

It is criminal that the media have so perverted the vision of the world about Islam.  Bad people exist in every place, race, and religion.  This we versus them mentality never achieves the ideal peace that is possible.

I have many Muslim friends, and though I may not agree with every detail of every manner or tradition they practice, I don't have to - we can agree to disagree and accept these differences.  These differences are only colours of skin or clothing or languages.  We all strive to improve the lives of ourselves and children and make the world a safe and sane place.  We do not even need to believe in God or Allah to want that for ourselves and our children.

The prophets remind us to be good people again and again.  It is sad that people bicker over the author of the message more than they listen to the wisdom!

Be Ye fore-warnèd of the squirrelly wrath of Yakov:

If anyone is going to shoot their fool mouth off about these Sims, I will personally ban that member.  I am not a practitioner of Islam, but I will smash down any person among you who deride it or any practioner of it!

Tonight I was creating a middle eastern family using two arabic male sims I downloaded a couple of weeks ago so the timing of your post was perfect. All I had for the women to wear was some 'dream of jeanie' outfit I downloaded awhile back but that seemed a little too hokey, even for me. Thanks also for the cultural info. I love that stuff.

I loved your post and I thank you very much for trying to explain Muslim costumes to the world.

Right now I’m a bit tired of the media “forcing” people to see part of the world as bad, just because they think or act or believe differently.

I love difference! That is one of the reasons I started my site – to make clothes of as many different countries and traditions as I could find. Some of them are difficult to make because of the meshes, but I managed to get quite a few.

Anyway, a year ago I was invited to be a part of a project to make modest wear, suitable both for Muslim or Jewish women. The project stopped, so I have quite a few clothes with nowhere to go. I also made some traditional Palestinian clothes. Ah… and my Turkish bride has a embroidered Hijab

I don't know...maybe someone is interested in them....

Thank you again for your post!

Sweetie these sims are amazing! I am certainly putting them in my game! I need variety in my game! Yakov said some wonderful and truthful things.  I would love to see more of your sims here! They are truly beautiful and uique. I commend you for uploading them here and showing people the beautiful side of diversity. We as a culture frown on things we do not understand.  We need to be more tolerant and less judgemental. Upload more for us! You do amazing work!

OMG, I must have these clothes! where could I get them? I love the Palestian Thobe and that Hijab is just banging LOL. I need to learn how to recolor because I have so many Hijabs I wear that I would love for everyone to see the different colors I sport everyday:)If I knew how to mesh I would make Islamic wear, but I don't know how and it seems hard. I think you should work back on your project. I will be your number one downloader, but I won't rush you into things because I know these take time, but if you ever think about doing your project again let me know I could give you ideas on making different Islamic clothing.

Thankyou very much for the lesson on the hajab. I know some but not all the history behind this. Better understanding more of the tradition will make my muslim sims families more real. My X was/is  non practicing, except for Noruz and funerals, so I was aware/understood only some of cultural and religious. habits. My mother-in-law is fantastic she is always teaching me about the history, culture and family members in Iran. I am so blessed.

Björk's song "All Is Full Of Love" is covered by Ugandan children and youths on an album by a organization called Bitone (meaning "talent"). Their mission is to restore the lives and hopes of children between 8 and 18 years old in Uganda, whom have been traumatized by the death of their parents or loss of their home due to disease, war, or economic hardship.

The program was founded by Branco Sekalegga and Hassan Kayemba with the vision of "Restoring Hope by Nurturing the Body and Spirit." Bitone youth are provided with basic food and shelter, a nurturing environment, an academic education, and counseling. Through learning traditional African music, dance, folklore and theater, the children build self-esteem, become self-reliant and contribute to creating a peaceful future for the next generations of Ugandans and others worldwide.

The record was recorded with a laptop and one microphone in the center's living room (which also serves as the dining and bedroom depending on the hour), and is being sold as a fundraising tool for the center's growth and stability.

If anyone is going to shoot their fool mouth off about these Sims, I will personally ban that member.  I am not a practitioner of Islam, but I will smash down any person among you who deride it or any practioner of it!

Thanx for the understanding + tolerance... Marvine: I'm a Moslem + really appreciate ur commitment!

In Sims 1, I had a lot of beautiful skins for Muslim Sims and I have missed them terribly since changing to Sims 2.  I like religious and cultural diversity in my neighbourhoods.  This little family will have a very good home, I promise.
