Title: What I'd like to see in The Sims Franchise
Post by: kevida97 on November 10, 2006, 09:31:54 pm
- More "mix and match options" for clothing. Examples: Choosing which  tie/shade of hose/color of socks to wear(and what not), if at all? Being in various states of dressing/undressing by sims adding and removing layers as mood/occasion/season dictates (such as, Sims kicking off their shoes after a hard day at work and walking around the house in bare/stockinged feet with the outfit that they are currently wearing).

- Jewlery. Have that necklace/bracelet/ring/watch be a seperate thing from the outfit.

- Make up options to include manicures/pedicures. One can decide the type of polish (for both finger and toes) and nail length (for fingers only obviously).

- Crudeness level adjustment. I occasionally play TS2 with my grand daughter and I would like a way for babies to happen the way they did in TS1 for when " youngins' " are playing and go to the "real way" when the " not so youngins' " play. Though I don't imagine that will ever be included as an option.

-First person perspective. That would give a new dimension to gaming.

-Going to a sim's job. It would be nice to actually go to a sim's job and do some stuff there. Better yet, have an option to either keep it where time goes fast in the Sim's house while they're away to work or go to the sim's work. On second thought, that's a silly idea!

-Options for making clothes as a cheaper alternative to buying them.

-Middle age life stage: That could be used as a prerequisite for certain upper job levels.

-Buying Stocks/other investments: This could be used to increase a Sim's retirement pension aside as well as paying dividends in game by putting money aside (inspired by the Milton Bradley game "Life"). Perhaps even choose the riskiness of investments that have proportional rewards for success (id est: High Risk offers High Reward Medium Risk offers Medium Reward and Low Risk offers Low Reward).

-Getting back to the "middle-aged" life-stage...
Here is an idea. If a sim has a degree that is applicable to his/her career field (or any degree at all) then that sim can "take an early retirement" at the middle age (for half income as normal) or wait until they are elders and take a "full retirement" (making the same amount of money as they did when that were working). As in real life, this gives a sim incentive to go to college.

Thoughts?

Just my additions.

Clothes should have more options and combinations. Different shoes for a start would be nice. A hat option too.

Clothes rating, like object rating. Clothes have different prices and rating.

Definately more jewelry options. Some fans have already provided this but would like see official support from EA.

Accessories, like bags, unmbrellas etc.

I like see the university degree to have a different effects on jobs. I think at present, any degree will give a boost to any career path. I prefer the degree to only give career boost to matching career paths.

Well I guess you described in two sentences what took me several of them.

i.e. "Designer labels" would cost more than a "Wal-Mart brand". Is that a correct assessment?

Yeah, "official" stuff would be nice!

Not a bad idea!:)

I would like to see more body types thrown into the game officially by maxis, like more buff guys/more curvy girls and much fatter people and much thinner people, just as part of the regular game, so we would not need as much cc. I would also like to see more animals, even if they did not do much but walk around, larger animals, like farm animals and zoo animals.  I would also like more selection and better matched selection of furniture, but I have to admit, on sims, they did a much better job at that than they did in the original sims games.

I said it in an earlier post but I'll quote it hear do to it being more relevant here:
Quote from: kevida97

I would like to see some sort of "farming tie-in" like so:
Veggies/Grains you can either sell or add to your Sims' pantry.

Fruits that do the same as above but also have the option to put them in a
"nectar press" (ala Makin' Magic) to make nectar one can drink, sell, or add
to pantry.

Cattle/Chicken that you can either "yeild" (to get milk/eggs) or "take to
market" (to...well...you know what I am talking about) for money or pantry
restocking.

I'd also like to see realistic grocery shopping/cooking. In other words, if your sim didn't buy certain ingredients then certain dishes can't be made. Anyway just some random thoughts!

Thoughts?

Something like that. For example there are different type of beds which gives different comfort ratings. Different paintings have environment rating.

I like something like that for clothes. At minimum there would be two grades. The first would a style class. A Sims can prefer sporty clothes, causal clothes etc. Clothes are already sorted by catagories but only for their use rather than as a stye. I think there is scope to expand it a bit more.

The second would be the rating for the clothes. Clothes can given from 0, cheap second hand type, to 10, exclusive designer labels. A Sim can then be rated by the style and the rating on the clothes.

Having more options for clothes is a biggie for me. I just think it would be so much better.

Actually, when OFB was announced I sort of assumed that would have been an ability added into the game, along side with acutally owning your business. I think EA did a poor job of crossing the two. Sims wants were to actually get jobs more often than to open their own business, and when you opened a business the want of getting a job was not fulfilled. They definitely should have added the ability to go to work with the sims to businesses other than their own. Oh but wait... that would have been a logical addition to OFB and EA just can't have that now, can they? *sarcasm off* Although, I can see how difficult it would have been to code that in... it still would have been nice if they put in the extra effort.

There has been a call to follow a sim to work and play the sims while at work. They never actually implemented for the original Sims but gave us Superstar instead which gave the players some careers which can be played.

While it sounds like a nice idea to play a sim at work, I wonder if it would be that fun to do. I think it would only work well for some careers and not others. They will either have to provide contents for all careers or just some of them.

What happens when more than one sims in a family goes to work ? I have an all adult family ala "Friends" style and all work. Do I play all of them while at work ? It would make passing a single day very long.

What happens when they return ? What time do they return ? If they start at 9.00am and finish at 4.00pm. Do they return shortly after 4.00pm ? If so, what happens to other Sims in the family between 9.00am and 4.00pm ?

There are probably other questions that needs to be answered before we can see a Sims At Work expansion pack.

I was already thinking about this a few days ago, so I am glad this topic was created. It saves me having to create one!

I would love to see many more options connected to law enforcement. With all of my ideas, it would probably have to be a full EP. Some ideas I have had (leaving out ideas that would not be approved due to their raising the game rating above Teen) are:

  • A community lot set up specially as a jail. The lot can be used for other things but the jail has to be large enough to accommodate the town's crime rate.
  • Any regular sims can be arrested and thrown in this jail where they have to wait several sim days before they can get out. Crimes would include robbery (see below), flights possibly, and trespassing (ever had a sim you ask to leave and they won't?)
  • Sims can try to break out of jail, or run/escape when the cell is opened for reasons other than release but even being successful will not have great consequences.
  • Health, hygiene, and some other motives decrease faster in jail.
  • If there are more prisoners than cells, sims have to share a cell which can result in fights. It is much more difficult to make friends with a sim in a cell than would be in the regular game. Prisoners cannot chat and make friends with the guards while locked up
  • Family can only visit sims in jail between certain hours.

  • New/Expanded version of the Crime career.
  • You can break into homes at night and steal or you can steal things during parties at homes.
  • You can steal from community lots at any time.
  • There are restrictions on the size of and how much you can steal at one time (You aren't Santa Clause with a bottomless magic bag, you know).
  • Your skill level determins how skillfully you steal. If low, you trip alarms more easily. If higher you learn to disable alarms, crack safes, be a pick-poket, and other skills.
  • Chatting with other prisoners while in jail is what helps boost your criminal skill level.

  • Stolen items remain in your inventory until you put them somewhere. If you are caught with stolen items on you by the police or by the owner of the items, you are arrested and sent to jail.
  • The only way for a thief to make money is to sell the items stolen, but after selling stolen items, you may get your house raided looking for other stolen items (like a stolen item being sold at a pawn shop and being traced back to the seller).

  • Hire guards at night to stop trash-can kickers and during any time to catch thieves at parties. Or call to have them drive by regularly which does not do the job as well but does not cost you anything.
  • Guards and new SWAT members are NPC's and can sometimes be your neighbors who have the Law career.
  • If the guard is caught sleeping on the job and you catch them, they can be demoted or fired from their job and you get your money back for the time the person worked.

  • Lots of new law-enforcement related objects and outfits.
  • Introduction of banks.
  • Sims can deposit money and gain interest.
  • Criminals can rob banks if they are skilled enough.

[/LIST]

What do you think?

Interesting idea although I am not sure if a whole expansion pack, The Sims 2, Life Of Crime, should be dedicated.

The shop lifting idea is great and I think it would have been nice to have that OFB. Maybe it is I have not tried.

As for the hired guards, I think that would be better served by having a guard dog instead using The Sims 2 Pets. I don't have The Sims 2 Pets do I don't know if its there but I do recall in The Sims Unleashed, the pet dog could stop animals from dustbin diving.

Good ideas there Sims Mod Lover!
That sounds somewhat like a Simcity/The Sims tie-in! Now THAT'S what I'd like to see. If more sims are working and spending money then there's more tax money going around for services such as police and fire fighting. The more tax money collected, the faster and better the services are. Of course if there is no business built in either the comercial or industrial sectors, then there aren't as many jobs to go around. What does everyone think about that?

I remember there was a game under development called The Sims Towns. I think this was done after The Sims and probably was the sequel to The Sims. It got canned for various reasons and we got The Sims 2, probably borned from the ashes of The Sims Towns. Shame really as the time it sounded really good. I think one of the that could be done was to visit friends rather than just inviting them to you house. I can't be sure as it was a  while a go.

I think it would be cool if they somehow put in a one night stand option so you don't have to be in love with a sim to do WooHoo.
Otherwise, I LOVE the sims and I really don't see too much more they could put into it without needing like 2 disks or something.

Well there IS a casual romance mod somewhere that let's you do that. There of course still has to be a positive relationship score but love/crush feelings aren't required. Albeit, it's not an "official" release.

Interesting... :idea1:

Okay,  here's what I'd like to see:

1)  More musical objects.  Personally, as a musician myself, I'm kind of offended that there aren't but four types of instruments to make a band.  Not to mention the fact that there are only three types of performance songs to choose from.  Add a saxophone and other wind/string instruments to the game and I'll be really happy!

2)  Better Genetics.  For the love of God, the Maxis default faces have got to be the absolute WORST to work with.  You make a decent looking teen/adult, and what do you get:  ugly babies.  :angry7: If you reverse it and make an adorable toddler, the older sims tend to get some overly "good" qualities. (such as some unwanted and unintended large eyes, weird noses, and big foreheads...)

3)  Show some more love for the babies!  No need to leave them in diapers all the time.  When the new "Seasons" EP comes out (or any future sims games), what will they do but freeze to death?!  Other than adding clothes to the babies, how about making them available in the CAS or Bodyshop.  That would be interesting...

4)  More interactable objects (like better toys, more creation items similar to the OFB hobbies stations).  The game tends to get boring after seeing most of the same things, but thanks to all great modders for creating various mods and objects for Sims and Sims 2.  I would, however, like to see how Maxis would incorporate making a lot more realistic and interactable environment.  Suprise me!

5)  A little less of the crazy stuff.  Not that I don't mind, but every expansion pack so far has had at least one supernaturally weird being.  Vampires, werewolves, occasional zombies?  Maybe if they added these as extra downloads instead of spamming the game with them constantly it would be a little more enjoyable for me, but this is just my opinion.

And finally:
6)  LESS BUGS!  I know they are inevitable in some situations, but EA/Maxis really needs to take more time in testing out products more thoroughly.  I still have a fear of buying new EPs after the horror stories and the current Bodyshop custom content issue with Pets.

:whew!:  I think that's all I have for now.  I'll probably end up thinking about some other things to add as time progresses.  (and as I grow bored with the game.)

*I think I'd like to see more realistic aging. You have a baby who in three days becomes a toddler who in 5 days becomes a child who in 7 days becomes a teen who in 11 days becomes an Adult who in 20-something days becomes an elder..There's no middle-ground..No pre-teen..No middle-aged sims..There are Young Adults but those are only playable in University.
And along with the realistic aging, how about some realistic looking elders. The last time I saw either set of my grandparents, they don't sag.

*Genetics. I have some beautiful sims and when they reproduce, you want to run for cover because those kids becomes hideous! A little more play in the Maxis eyes. Not everyone is so cut and dry in eye color. And hair color too. Its so generic. No varying shades of red, blonde, brunette, or black.

*I'd love to go to work with my sim. Its why I loved PS2's Urbz: Sims in the City. Because I enjoyed working my sim like a dog...OFB was a huge disappointment. I love building restaurants but when you can only have 8 sims max per lot, what fun is there?

*More realistic skintones. What about a skintone for Native Americans? Or Asian sims?

*Better Maxis houses. I never buy a Maxis house because they are such quagmires. They lack space and sense.

*A better transition from day to night. What happened to dusk?

*The whole time thing. I hate that I leave a lot to go shopping and when I get back home, the time is back to what it was when I left..I've never had that happen in real-life.

*I want a motherlode cheat for real-life..

*Better family-relations..Everyone is designated family..There is no mother, father, sister, brother, half-brother, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, cousin. Its all the same. I hate that.

*A better job market.

*More realistic building options.

And I definately agree with the first person P.O.V.

Hmm, I like all of the suggestions already. The only things I would like would be to bring back pretty much the whole superstar expansion pack (I really enjoyed seeing the butler slap the crazed fan) and maybe having the option of using a game controller like they did for the console version of the sims 2. Yes, I know, consoles, ick. The use of the controller really added to it but then again not everyone has a controller for their pc. I sure don't. They should also go back to their roots and make the game more customizable :devill:. Am I right? I would've liked to skin for the sims 2 but I don't have a pc powerful enough to run body shop.

I would like to have money accounts.
It would be awesome to have the oppertunity to buy or rent a house instead of just the standard purchase. You're sims can pay off the house/pay the rent daily/weekly/monthly, etc. You can buy another house and rent it out for some extra cash.

Well, a couple of aspects I'd like to see are kinda love/hate as far as other people's opinions go. One is how much I miss the official soda machine and McD's food cart - oh how I wanted to see both pieces of that in the offline game. Even though they were brand name tie-ins, the items were so neat. Ice cream stands, etc. Also, I wish there was a way to incorporate the stuff that was on the Sims Online into the game, because I miss it.

The other thing is some more of the mundane things - real laundry machines, watering hoses, hot water heaters, lawn mowers, etc. Sure you can get great user-made versions, but they're understandably limited on function. In my real life, the mentioned elements are everyday concerns. If we have to clean counters, how is laundry different? :)

2 things:

Fluid Physics on the bodies.  Skin, fat and muscle move and are affected by gravity and momentum, this should be reflected in the game too.  If console fighting games can do it, they can do it in a PC game by the 3rd generation.  I thought from the early trailers this would be in the game, but it's not (remember the video with the gal that opens her top and jumps over the sofa on her new hubby?  Fluid physics.)

Body Morph sliders.  They made them for the faces, they can make them for the bodies too, and I want just as much detail.  Like the above one, I thought this was going to be in Sims2, but it wasn't so I had to start a 2-year project to get bodyshape variety in the game.  I won't be too heartbroken if I don't have to do it again for Sims 3.

That's what I want to see... more realistic bodies and motion.

Some of mine are:

1. More turn-ons and turn-offs, obviously.
2. Sim toddlers could actually interact with other toddlers.
3. Different styles of the same animations so you're not seeing the same one over and over again for the same action.
4. CC would show up with the "Randomize" button when making a sim.
5. Less exaggerated Maxis face templates, and maybe less asian ones, too.

Aside from a Makin' Magic like pack, I'd love for them to make lakes, as well as pools for the sims to swim in.  I know that there's a cheat and water like terrains, but I wouldn't mind having the real thing either.  I'm tired of my "mountain roughin' it" sims swimming in a pool.

Ive had quite a few ideas of what id love to see in maybe the sims 3 but most of them seem to be things that kill the whole custom content side of the game (which i love)
Things like proper weight loss and gain. I don't know properly how mesh making works myself but im sure it would require a whole lot of work to make custom meshes work with something like that.

Also actually having to get dried after diving into a swimming pool, or getting in the shower would be quite good. Maybe your sims would have to style their hair again? It just isn't very natural to have a sim with spikey gelled up hair to get in the shower and it stay like that...
Also hair actually growing and having to get a hair cut. Although this could cause problems for custom hair meshes... Though this would bring in the point of actually having to grow your sims hair for them to have it long, which would be realistic, but pretty tiresome if you don't want to wait. Although men having to shave could be pretty good. Like having to grow a beard rather than it just popping up from your sim looking in a mirror.

Lots of good ideas above, and I may end up repeating some here, but my wish list goes like this:
  - yes, more "mix and match" clothing options, especially shoes and hats.  Also, perhaps, gloves, backpacks, belts, shoulderbags, sunglasses... you get the idea.
  - Transportation within the neighborhood.  Sims can walk, use a bicycle, or perhaps drive to other lots in the neighborhood.  They would still need a cab or car to go downtown, but this would add more possibilities to a Sim's daily routine.  Examples:  kids could walk to the local playground and interact with other kids; adults could slip off to the corner tavern after work and hoist a few; a Sim could run to the neighborhood drug store or grocery for a quick shopping trip instead of waiting for delivery or upsetting the routine with a trip downtown.  All this would happen in real time, of course.
  - A "useable" inventory.  By that I mean items that Sims could carry and also use while "on the go."

Most of the suggestions I've seen here are great and I think show a general idea of what most sims lovers want. However, I have to say that some are way out of the realm of reality. This is a game and if the programmers put too much realism into it the game would get VERY boring. Some of the problems have been pointed out (such as why it wouldn't work to "follow" a sim to their job or have time pass properly while on a community lot). Have to style their hair each time they take a shower or bath? That would get old after only a couple times of a 4 member family each getting clean. Sims having to mow the lawn? Thank goodness I hire the gardner because my sims can't keep up with the weeds and overgrown bushes!

Personally, I think some of you need to get out the sims1 game again so you can appreciate what sims2 has given you! We used to have set faces, no make-up, much less variety in clothing, no glasses, couldn't change the hair without changing the entire face, and they didn't age at all. Yes, we would all like sims 2 to be better, but lets keep in mind how far we've come. I'm sure the next version (I'm going to have to get a new computer before a sims 3 comes out) will be even more of an improvement.

I don't really understand about all the bugs people complain about but that's probably because I have no clue about "code" and couldn't create a mod or mesh or anything else to save my life. But I have to say that EA is a BUSINESS and will most likely only do as much as they have to so they can get the product out, that's life and the way it's always going to be. On the other hand, at the same time people say "take more time to work out the bugs", there are other people saying "hurry up and give me a new expansion!" Since either way they can't win, they probably go for the money, I would.

On a more personal note, for whoever it was who said they didn't like the "crazy stuff", I do. I love ghosts, zombies, aliens, vampires, and werewolves. Come the next expansion I will most likely love plant-people. But you know what I love most about them? If you don't want to have any of the above in your game, as a sim, you don't have to. Don't buy the big telescope, don't hire the grimreaper, don't make friends with the Count or Contessa, don't make friends with a Leader of the Pack, and don't worry about it.

This is turning into a rant and I didn't mean for it to. I guess my point is for people to remember how great it is instead of what its not, and don't get too caught up in it being "real" as too much realism is not fun.

:icon9:...The only problem I have with them in my game is that they insist on showing up without these things either way (well, except the aliens and zombies).  I mean, the grim reaper is funny and he was always cool with me, and all I think that the Pixie addition in the upcoming "Seasons" EP is a cute and great idea, but before any hacks were made to make them stop appearing, they were giving my sims a little more grief than I would've liked.  For some odd reason,  Grand Vampires were on most of my community lots, and frequently walked by my residential lots (but they were downtown, so they have a right to do that).  I found it crazy seeing them every other night!  Maybe it was just my silly game doing that to spaz me out a little.  :D

It is just a game, but everyone has their own opinions of how a game should be, realistic or not.  And it's not like any idea will be used anyways, so there's not too much worrying.  Just something we'd like to possibly see!

Sorry, didn't mean to offend or be too forceful. I suppose I'm just really tired of hearing how bad the game is when I love it so much.

I totally suggest going to the message boards on the Exchange to have your wants be heard. Whether many believe it or not, they DO listen. They just listen to the majority. YOU might be one of the majority. I was and now I have Pets in my game.

Been done. The topics about bugs and things that people are NOT happy with always get closed with barely a comment from the staff there. But discussing that is not the purpose of this topic.

Actually, I referring to what you do want and what you would like to see, rather than the opposite. Even if they don't want to or can't implement the changes mentioned for this current sims version, Sims3 is in the works, right? You never know.

Whether it is realism, following the sims to work, or would end up being some kind of community lot which might be a mixture of both, the Sims police idea is a very good one. I would suggest it could be expanded up for hospitals and such. Sims get sick, get pregnant, go to visit patients, whatever, and go to a clinic or hospital. I'm sure there are other venues that could be expanded upon in the same way. Schools and other work related institutions, that is.

I do agree with dizi, the game would become very boring if there was too much realism. Isn't the game based on fantasy. From owning a successful business, vampires, werewolves, zombies, and Grim Reapers? Be serious, nothing is more fun than seeing a ghost compared to everything else you are asking for.

No offense taken, Dizi.  I just wanted to clear up what I had said in my first post in this thread.  And I don't completely disagree with all the supernatual stuff, it was just hard when I first installed Nightlife and having to deal with canceling random "BLEAH!" all of the time.  Since there are hacks to prevent that,  I can live with them happily.  I was just really implying that EA/Maxis can really slam you hard with them (like the uninvited yet very welcomed wolf pack leader) at times when you really just don't feel like putting up with it.  I just happened to be a random victim with a very high Vampire advertisement.

I love that the Sims franchise brings you that unrealistic feel, yet sometimes you do want a little more to the games.  And I do agree that this is the very fact that makes the Sims the most popular game.  Heck, I wouldn't have even bought it if it was seriously a "simulation of real life!"

And to bring the topic back to what we would like to see,  I'd like to add that I would LOVE it if EA/Maxis released an object making/recoloring tool with their next installment of Sims.  Of course we had just started out with one for just editing each sims properties in Sims 1, then in Sims 2 improved it and later added Homecrafter for making walls and flooring.  The only way we can do any sort of object recoloring/creating is if we use SimPE, which is awesome for those willing to learn how to use it, but I would like to use something similar to Bodyshop where you can see what the results would look like in 3D without having to open the game.

Title: Sims2 Wishlist (long!)
Post by: Britpoptarts on February 21, 2007, 12:56:31 am
I get tired of them pitching a fit when another sim is in their way and there's room to walk around them or pitching a fit in a room with seven computers and five sims, to the point where they get up from a computer desk to yell at another sim because they want to turn the computer off.

Some autonomous bathroom behavior would be nice for sims out of diapers. How often do adults wet themselves, anyway?

Seasons seems very Vacation-esque to me. Vacation added new destinations with hot or snowy terrains, and Seasons adds a new destination but the option to have hot or rainy or autumnal or snowy interactive environments. Similar enough that I don't want a Vacation EP on top of this one. I'll make my own Vacation areas in subhoods instead. (Actually, hated Vac because it was swarming with annoying child sims, who were next to useless in sims 1, and without build/buy cheat tool, would have gone bonkers on Vac lots trying to use them as is. The mascots were even more annoying than Uni mascots, too.)

I am one of those folks who liked superstar (sorry) but part of that was covered with glamorous items in GL. I like the idea of adding a fame track, but there are more creative / fame tracks than just acting, music and fashion. Famous artists, news anchors / TV stars, authors, activists (Save the Llamas! Suffrage for Aliens! Vampire Rights! lol), serial killers (won't ever happen, but Maxis could sugarcoat this as a Bonnie and Clyde type of super Criminal mastemind fame / notoriety track), cult leaders (part of a career track, true, but underexplored...imagine a commune of tracksuit wearing, trainer-clad Scientologist types worshipping aliens due to arrive on the next comet but preparing to drink the KoolAid if the aliens don't show), performance artists (sims walking around with cans of Spam on their heads, spouting angry free verse in simlish comes to mind), etc.

Both fame and notoriety could be explored, so you could choose to live an ordinary life, or go to either extreme in Simland. Positive fame track would have pitfalls like in Superstar (paparazzi rooting through garbage, taking bad candid photos, printing gossip in newspaper (actually could make newspaper useful, and I hope weather reports are bundled into paper with new EP for poor sims), whereas notoriety could have hidden perks (being rewarded for being a grouchy personality, faster money earning, immediate (trembling!) deference and service from service personnel when shopping or dining, as if sim was a mob boss, etc.)

As far as EPs duplicated from Sims 1, I had to refresh my memory quickly. (Livin' Large, House Party, Hot Date, Vacation, Unleashed, Superstar and Makin' Magic, if anyone else needs a refresher. My memory is swiss cheese lately.) I honestly don't recall what functionality LL added to the game because I bought TS1base and HD at the same time, then DDeluxe and every EP through SS, then MM (at which point I lost interest after three weeks of play).

I think HP has been bundled into the S2 base game and Uni, and hacks apparently exist that make community lot parties possible. It might be nice to make that functionality available officially, or to designate certain lots as Festival lots, where the atmosphere is always rather Mardi Gras / Festival / New Year's Eve in nature. More social interaction success, more bad behaviors, you name it. Themes could be assigned to lots so that Sims visiting lots like Londoste, the fancy restaurant, have to wear formal attire (which would make it actually useful in the game). No formals in your wardrobe? So sorry, go buy one and come back. No tie, no Lobster Thermidore for you. Likewise, gyms would require gym clothes automagically (unless they had a pool, in which case that area would be coded for swimsuits). Beach lots or public pools would require swimsuits.

Hot Date is, as noted, bundled into the new Nightlife. Unleashed is, duh, Pets. OFB duplicates a lot of CC community lot concepts explored in Sims 1 but expands upon them in a new, improved way. I already noted that I think Seasons is Vacation lite in some ways, and it ties in with the Holiday stuff pack. Vacation in the original game was child-oriented, and Family Fun already covered the crapola aspect for build/buy child needs.

I suspect that's why people keep saying MM and SS in these redundant poll-type threads. It hasn't been covered yet like the other Sims1 EPs.

I'd like it to be easier to bin hair and clothes in-game.

I'd like toddlers and elders to be less useless in the game. Why would anyone want to turn aging on for Sims they care about if their gameplay options are diminished? Let elders work, have romances, have special perks, and a useful, non-fugly wardrobe. Make it easier to correct Maxis genetic horrors on toddlers and babies in-game. And Maxis babies are awfully quiet in my game, never crying, bever experiencing needs failure, complacent about being awakened every five minutes by family members, etc. Maybe my Sim parents are godlike natural parents, but real babies cry. A lot. And guessing what the crying means is all part of the joy of childcare. Childcare services that issued warnings pre-snatch, giving Sims a chance to fix neglect states in the household, or only snatched the neglected child(ren) while ignoring the non-neglected would be swell. No slacker nannies eating all the food, playing solitaire, watching TV, pulling puerile pranks, being abrasive in interactions they initiate (sod off and go watch the kid like you were paid to do, already) and ignoring the kids, thanks. Maybe that's just my game.

Being able to walk across the street to visit neighbors within view would be awesome. They are probably saving that for Sims 3.

I'd like other animals, too, namely the ferrets they already have the mesh for. Ferrets are awesome pets. They are like a compromise between dogs and cats and smaller animals like guinea pigs. They eat catfood, play with cat toys, use litter pans, live in large cages like birds or womrats, and can be taught tricks like dogs, wear harnesses, walk on leashes, and travel around in backpacks and purses and carriers like "Designer Dogs" (if one desires). The downside is that some people don't like their scent (neglible if they are cared for), they steal (imagine the possibilities if your Sim ferret started hiding objects under the couch in the game..."Sorry, you can't drive downtown, you forgot to put the ferret up last night and your keys are under the sofa. Go get them and then you can go."), they climb, they are funny to watch when they play (dancing, play-wrestling, rolling over and general spazziness are the norm), and some do bite if improperly socialized. Fail to train your ferret and you'll get bitten, train him or her well and you can go walkies and play with them. To make it more fair, since ferrets combine a lot of cat/dog behaviors, maybe Simferrets couldn't hold jobs like dogs or cats, or breed litters (most are sold fixed in the US). For more SimFerts in your family, you have to buy them.

Ability to change stupid Aspirations. Grilled cheese my ass. I had a diligent, scientifically-minded, socially adept, popular, platinum aspiration, high influence pointed Biology major, and her lifelong dream was to gorge on dairy products. As if.

Also agree that there should only be one mayor, one Captain Hero (or Noble Heroine) per game hood. For mayors, maybe there could be some way to acknowledge equally qualified candidates, pretend there's been a vote, and then (sado)randomly assign a winner or let the winner be chosen by virtue of who has more skills, or more friends, or the highest cumulative LTR scores among their associates.

The fantasy characters are my least favourite aspects (vampires, werewolves, plant people, whatever!), but it does imply that a future EP will have other magical critters or beings, and perhaps that is when MM will be duplicated. If ever.

I've seen players ask for past Sims ages and future Sims ages elsewhere, and that might be interesting. You could opt to start a hood 100 Sim years in the past and grow it, much like a successful SimCity development, 100 Sim years intop the future. Or, more likely and perhaps better, just have separate hoods for those eras. The Medieval furniture would suddenly make a little sense. A kitschy 1950's Sim future with flying cars, rounded plexiglass domed houses and food replicators and clones and metallic outfits might be hilarious. Using collections, you could allow or disallow certain types of content in each hood, meaning no Townie Goopies walking by in neon puffer jackets and surfer shorts in 19th century Simville.

Apartments hav been noted--the Sim Bin now allows families with different surnames in the same lot, and Myne doors allow locking a keyholders, so, technically, you could have lots dedicated to duplexes and individual housing. Downside being that the sims still act as a family unit and screech if denied goodies in inaccessible areas and try to use each other's facilities. Hacks get around this, but it's hard to create the illusion without hacks. "Highrises" can be built with Maxis cheats, but building higher than 5 floors can cause bugginess. It's possible, but not easy to play. True basements would be groovy, too. Lairs / dens for vamps and weres, functional storage for Sims stuff like outgrown baby furniture (I have an attic in one house, so, as my sims aren't sure they are having another baby yet, they have stored the baby stuff rather than selling it back immediately). With weather effects, basements would be protection from windstorms/hail, power outages would require going down there to flick the power back on, plumbing leaks and floods could reduce the value of the property (you have to check the basement once in a while to prevent this), you can store gardening supplies / pantry stuff / pet stuff down there, etc. Not plausible it will be done, but we're just free-associating ideas here, right?

More stability. If your computer has the specs required, the game runs. No problems. No patches that farq the game up worse than before you patched. I read a rumour that some of the issues experienced with Pets is because it and Seasons were supposed to be one EP originally, and some coding intended for Seasons got in, and some coding meant for Pets got left out. It was too big fopr one EP, but too small for two individual EPs, so they piled on other functionalities and released them quickly, within a shorter interval and at unusual times of the year (Pets near the holidays makes sense, Seasons in Feb/March is a bit weird). This may all be completely wrong, but it was interesting to me.

Less trendiness in Maxis clothing / items (and, as seen in SS, characters) and more references to pop culture that make sense internationally. I think worldwide the Marilyn SS made more sense than the Avril and Christina SSs. Andy Warhol Sim made me ecstatically happy, though.

No stupid Maxis headgear / outfits like knight suits, bunny suits, gorilla suits, Riddick goggles, Santa hats (hello, not all of the world celebrates Christmas, and Christmas isn't snowy in Australia, etc.), or they should be hide-able in-game if the user hates them. When you fire up CAS, maybe you can get the option to have a mannequin try on the default outfits and choose to hide the crappy ones, and this could be a separate function from creating Sims. Hidden or transferred-from-normal-category crap would be moved to a bin like custom hair, and you could opt, when creating Sims, not to open that bin section. Would work sort of like collections do. So if you're looking at everyday outfits, no three pages of rabbit suits, and if you are looking at brown hair, no three pages of open and closed knight helmets. Ugh. That's not even quirky-funny, it's just being weird for the sake of being weird.

Like a poster on another forum said: "Remembered one more thing I wish from new add-ons: common sense. Even if wee little bit, such as just one mayor per city, or money as a turn-on, or that upbringing and environment actually affected development of personality, and more variety in personalities in general would be a nice thing."

Forgot to mention that. Yes, if you are going to have turn-ons and turn-offs, why aren't any of them personality-related? And if you go to the trouble of having zodiac signs, add those in as possible turn-ons. Playfulness / seriousness as a turn-on or -off. Agree about money. Having a job could be a turn-on, making it more useful not to have independently wealthy motherloded Sims lazing about jobless. Having or not having kids. Having or not having a diploma. Having or not having pets. Owning or not owning a business. Being or not being a service NPC. Age groups that appeal or don't appeal to target sims. Eye colour turn-ons and -offs, much like hair colours. Certain skills could be turn ons (like logic or creativity points) or turn offs. Some Sims will like sporty Body point sims and others will like Logical bookish Sims. Sims with similar aspirations might find that more attractive than not, or opposites might attract. Those who don't have the relevant EPs don't get those options. Give a choice of three each, rather than two and one. Hats and glasses are useless, as those can be altered in-game with a mirror. Formal wear, underwear and swim-wear are likewise useless as attractions because some creators can't bin their crap properly and there are few opportunities for unattached Sims to see each other in formal wear or swim-wear or underwear and this trigger attraction. Hair can be, too, but generally it makes more sense to change styles within the same colour bin, whereas hats, especially with Seasons hats coming, are probably going to fark up the attraction coding.

EDITED TO ADD: If you're going to use the groovy Sixties-Seventies social shortcut of "What's your sign?" then at least do elementary research about what signs are actually supposed to be compatible. The game is wrong, wrong, wrong, and learning the new wrong system is annoying, so I don't. Also, in real life, if astrology has any merit at all, your basic sun sign is the least helpful indicator of actual personality likelihoods, and it gets really titchy and complicated with other planets brought into the mix, and rising signs and so forth, so, on the whole, a useless system overall in the game, but moreso if they can't even get the basic stereotypical wisdom (about which signs get along and which don't) correct.

Attraction coding seems, for the most part, totally irrelevant in my game as to whether or not two Sims dig each other or hate each other at first sight. It could be made more useful.

I also hate the 25 points total personality coding / zodiac crap. I should be able to make Sims with more or fewer points as I see fit. I suspect this was done to thwart Perfect Sim personality reversal cheats from sims 1, where you could make a pointfree Sim and then reverse the polarity of the personality points to cheat your way to a personality maxxed Sim. You can still hack this if desired, so making us have to use 25 points exactly is a pain in the rear.

As has been mentioned more options in clothes, to be able to choose seperately for shoes and socks.
In sims for the playstation we can also change the colour of the clothes, this would be great in sims2, a bar to change the colour instead of having to download different colours.
And clothes shouldn't all cost the same price, I mean 200 simoleans for a full out fit and the same price for a top or bottom, no matter what age group or clothes section.
Also clothes for babies, now we have seasons they need to at least look as though they are wearing warm clothes, and these should be byeable clothes that can be changed at the changing table.
Toys for the kids, oh ya we have OFB, but toys that you can buy from the catalogue. But what would be really great is the sims actually tell us what they would like to buy, not just a painting worth 300 simoleans etc, but what painting etc.
I am sure in sims 1 we used to get a room score, now we get an environment score, But if the sims could be able to tell us what they like in a room and what they don't, and it wouldn't be the same for all sims.
And last more Turn on and turns off, like colour eyes, colour skin, dresses or skirts, trousers or shorts, jumpers or blouses etc, that may be a bit much, but we need more turn on and turn offs.
And in the Ask, we could ask, are you married, single etc. This would save a lot of time for people like me with poor memories.
WE can now see other houses, and our sims have cars, but they still can't visit other houses, it would be great if we could have the option to visit a friend, a window would come up saying that the friend is either at work at this time or asleep, telling us that we can or can not visit,  also with information about the season the friend is in, so we can dress appropriately. This would be the pinicle in my game.:consuelo:

Perhaps, Maybe some more transportation means? I've been mulling this over and I'm thinking trains, planes, and boats? You know, have the ability to travell from neighborhood to neighborhood (I first got this idea when I bought Seasons and got the turn other sims into PlantSims hack, but then the only PlantSim being in Riverblossom) this would also make hotels a nessecity, since you can't just go and buy a house, which then arises a new concept, perhaps you CAN, like a vacation home (Not like the Vacation EP, I know many ppl despised that for the xtra useless kids, including me), but a home a way from home. Also if you make friends, perhaps you could stay at their house in their neighborhood.

With this, there would be airports, most likely subhoods, or something of the such sort. You would have hotels, terminals and runways, you could even have the little moving pathway (I Love those things :P) also you could have train stations, where you could board the train, and boat docks for cruise ships, also you could own a Yacht!

The hotel feature would be fairly easy, I mean, making a door, a key shelf, and you rent a key that opens a door to that hotel room. Thus you could apply the same to apartments, and rental houses. Except you pay a monthly bill, and you could have the landlor boot you out if you don't pay that  plus the regular bills.

Perhaps it could be called Sims 2 Around the World?

On the supernatural aspect, I LOVE IT! I like the werewolves the most, yet I think they could have been inmproved on, like, they grow muscles and rip out of their clothing (Perhaps like in An American Werewolf in Paris?) also, perhaps more interactions, like Maul, Fight with Wolf, and also, like if you turn another sim into a werewolf you have the beginnings of a pack, which you lead and ect.

What I'd really like to see is more complicated personalities, and maybe sub aspirations. For example, two types of romance sims: a promiscuous romance aspiration like what we have now, and a true love aspiration where the sim is terrified of affairs, wants to be with one sim their whole life, etc. This could work for knowledge too; you could have a sim who's all about supernatural knowledge, or a sim who's all about book knowledge. I also really want some kind of do-gooder aspiration, where the sim just wants to help people. Not sure how that would work, though.

I also would like to see chemistry being a bigger part of the game and based on more factors, and I'd like to see music tastes vary from one sim or another. (Lilith Pleasant might like metal, but Angela prefers New Age.)  I'd also like more parts of personality; I think that creativity and logic should be personality traits, not skills. So for example, a creative person will have an easier time learning things like playing piano, painting, writing, etc., but all of those are individual skills. Just because a sim can write a great book doesn't mean they can paint! Sims who are inherently logical would have an easier time learning how to fix things, how to play chess, etc., but they'd still have to build those skills.

Basically I just want my sims' brains to be a lot more complicated. :)

How about some ambience stuff?

Like cars driving by and/or sims visiting you by car. I kinda doubt someone would walk all the way across the hood at 11 at night when it's -40 outside LOL.

More wildlife, like birds. Not just strays and those annoying wolves.   Robins, blackbirds, finches...etc  Perch on halfwalls, borders, when sims walk by they fly.  Could also have bird feeders, waterers etc.  Heck could have a badge for bird watching.  Pets Part 2

We've got rain, lighting, hail, snow.. how about wind.  On that lines, how about temperature controlled homes? Room/House heaters for winter, AC for summer.  Open/close windows to balance temps, although this would probably break all of the existing windows.

On the line of aspirations, more types and the ability or do to effects, change aspiration, without needing to cheat.

Oh an one of my major complaints.... Sims with different HEIGHTS... not every human is 5'10".  (yes i know it's doable with simpe... but)

Ahhh...yes! I hate how all my simmies are the same height.

I think there should be something that allows sims to actually be the firefighters or policemen that show up. I think that'd be so much more awesome.

Ohh...One more! They should be able to have an actual farm. Horses, cows, grow corn, soybeans...All that good stuff!

I'll add one other thing, thats been really bugging me to no end....
Reasonably goodlooking useable longhair!!!

Most of the stuff suffers from to few joints so it looks stiff rather than soft. Especially when it goes through the body.  Or when your in the hottub and it doesn't float.

This is the number one reason I don't use longhair usually.

No stupid stuff, as redvelvet said.
Who USES those horrible catalog cluttering garbage? The bunnysuits/armour etc? I dont even use it when I have a business lot, its just too stupid.
When they release Sims 3 I hope they have 2 versions, one "kiddies" version for the 11 year olds who like extremely bright and wacky cartoony stuff, and one for older people with more modern and classy stuff.
Then they can release all the EPs to slot onto whichever version you chose, one EP compatible with both versions, and you can use your discretion if you want to buy it or not. It is possible.  Theres such a giant market they have to cater to and you can't please the one without p*ssing the other off.  Its just better to separate from the start.

I would like to whoop my kids, they seem to always be bad as hell. If I were a parent and I saw my child playin in the toilet, id tap those hands. I'd like more child mischief. I think kids are much worse than this, I know my sisters and my niece are. Toddler interacions with one another, they can only fight over a bottle? WOW...

If the people could have more clutter, that they place on their own. The slobs would take off clothes and throw it anywhere, then the neater sim would clean up behind them or complain about it. (Great for Teens)

OH! and family connections could be better. It be great if they had a
"The Sims Geneology" dwell on the family connections more. I know I knew my great-grandfather. It's even possible that I could have known my Great-greats. That really upsets me. Grand Aunts and Uncles. Then they could have family gatherings like an actual Christmas Season(with santa again), Thanksgiving, more family time. OOh, I like this one, random family visits!! I know I experience these here in RL.

Maybe they could fuse those to make an EP. I know my whole family gets a piece of us when we're bad. Lol. And we're always being told what to do. Parents dont have enough participation in their childrens lives.

OOH! a great Idea! A family Reunion!!! And one of the objects could be.. a stand that you can gather everyone to for pictures, everyone who participated in the picture would get one. It would come in different sizes. They could have the one taking the picture direct it. Tell people to get closer, or "Put Junior in your lap!", or call certain last names.

I love family!! As you can tell, this EP would be for the Family aspiration. After all we have NL-Pleasure/ Romance, University-Education,
Business- Money, BV-?, Pets- Popularity, and Seasons is just there for realisms...

I did not plan to write this much!!

I hope I'm making sense....

What I would really like would be to choose last names when making sims. When I'm in CAS, all the sims have to have the same last name. Ok, I know this is easy to deal with, but it's a pain. My aunts and mom didn't take their husband's last name when they got married. In CAs, all the sims have the same last name, whether you like it or not. That is excluding University...

I'd like the tween/middle age life stages that have been mentioned earlier, and I'd like young adult to be playable to even non-college sims.

Speaking of college/uni, I'd like to see a lot of changes there. Right now playing Uni feels like a chore and most Sims I have there are doomed to remaining unplayed. I know it's more "realistic" with semesters but I'd prefer just having "years" that are two or three days long instead of having to play one or two sims for 24 sim days (Which I might add is almost as long as the average adult sim lifespan).

It'd also be nice if it was that it ran for a certain set of days, allowing people to start as early as late teen or take up a course as an adult. I'd also quite like for them to have seperate colleges/universities/vocational schools. This could also tie in with having a reliance on grades or accumulated skill points/badges for entry.

Which would bring my next point of jobs being tied to degrees. For example, in order to get past a certain level in the Law career an adult created from scratch would have to either take a break from his job and return later or go to night school in order to get a law degree.

I could probably go on much longer. I want jobs to be integrated closer to Sims everyday lives. Like the wonderful idea posted earlier about sim jails and the crime career taking on a whole new level, I'd like to see that for all jobs. Education sims would come home from work acquainted with their students, or could become university professors that students would meet.

And with sim illnesses, both contageous and genetic, sims on the medical career track could treat patients or drive ambulances.

I mention illnesses because I have a particular dislike of elders, and if there were sim illnesses like heart conditions or other ailments that would develop at middle age I'd have an easier time finding a "natural" way to off my sims before they turn old. (Well, it's either that or they make prettier elders)

I didn't expect my post to go on for that long v_v And that's without my long list of "I agree with..."

Title: Bumping the thread!
Post by: kevida97 on April 13, 2008, 08:06:48 pm
Okay now that we know some of what is o going on with TS3 I am going to bump thus thread and talk more about what I would like to see. Most of this is an update from my first post on this thread.

-As far as the ability to change or go without shoes for the outfits, I think that is great but I'd like to see something more. How about a sensible relationship between underwear and regular clothes. TS2 has so many strapless dresses/tops but the women still wear bras with straps. Would it make more sense that if a sim wore a dress/top that's strapless and a bra that's not, then the strap would show? Call me crazy but that makes sense that it would happen. Of course I realy would not want to see a sim wearing a dress/top that's strapless and a bra that's not!:puke: I would, however, like to see that if a sim's undies feature some sort of hosiery (pantyhose, stocking, thigh highs, knee highs, for women and socks for men or women) and that if that sim's legs are exposed or the sim goes shoeless, then the hosiery (whatever type is applicable) would be seen. Sorry, it's just little details like that would make the clothing thing more enjoyable for me.

-Different types of degress for going to college/university. if a sim goes two years then he/she gets an Associates Degree; four years get them a Bachelor's Degree; Six years gets them a Master's; and Eight years gets the a Doctorate. With each level of degree the sims automatically get two levels in thier jobs (Associate's starts them a level two, Bachelor's starts them at level four, et cetera). That is, of course, IF "higher education" will be included in TS3

-I am told that there are more ages besides "Toddler", "Child", "Teen", "Young adult", "Adult" and "Elder". Included are "Pre-Teen"" and "Middle Age" stages as well. I hope that is true!

-Banking/Investing. A sim who "puts a little aside for a rainy day" ends up with a bigger pension upon retirement. Sims can also apply for loans but their bills are greater to reflect the expesne of loans.

-Have pets, hobbies (and all that goes with them), running businesses and weather included "from the get-go"!

-I see that growing veggies is already included and I am hoping that fishing is included too. However, I would like to see the growing of other crops and the raising of livestock happen as well. By the way, if you are offended by the raising of livestock for food then you can not include it in your game and have your sim be a vegatarian/vegan. That is, if raising livestock is included. I also hope that growing fruit is included. I would like to see that expanded to include having a vineyard to bottle..."nectar" (to coin a TS1 Makin' Magic phrase). Raising bees for honey would be cool too! Oh why not include herbs and spices! Have all this rasing of animals/plants be a cheaper alternative to buying food (albeit harder work).

- Have hunting trips as well as fishing trips. I don't mean show the killing of the animals but have the animal show up  in the sim's inventory the way fish do in TS2 Seasons. The sim can either prepare it for a meal or "mount it" (again like the fish in TS2 Seasons). Perhaps the type of weapon option can open up for a sim as his/her as the badge increases (once more the way TS2 Seasons does it).

- If sim does one type of workout then that particular body part is toned/pumped. Example, just doing armcurls will give a sim impressive arms but the gut might still be on the big side. If the workout is nothing but cardio the the sim is just slimmed down but not made muscular.

That's all that I can think of right now! Thoughts, opinions, refinments, or addendums?

*¡¡¡MORE REALISTIC STUFF!!!
*Having the opportunity to do 2 things at the same time (eat/watch TV, sit down/talk on the phone, etc)
*As many of you said, more clothing options
*¿Maybe create a baby(not toddler) while creating a family?
*Internet for Sims!!!!!
*YA could decide wether to go to college or not (and do not punish them with become an adult!!!!)
*Maybe to be able to write what they're talking about???(for storytelling mostly)
*I agree with middle age!!
*More romantic interactions!
*More violent interactions!
*More ways to die! (heart attack, car crash, more realistic ways)
*Going to work with them also seem s like a great idea
*MORE REALISTIC INTERACTIONS!
*no pause before the next action.
AND EVERYTHING I'VE HEARD IS AN AWSOME IDEA!!!!

I THINK MAXIS SHOULD HAVE THINK ABOUT IT!!!!

I've never been happy about the clothing....some of it is just FUGLY,and don't get me started on the hideous shoes that would only look good if the sims had hooves.Definately more clothing variety would be appreciated. You know, one thing they could do is get licensing to use NFL,NHL,MLB and NBA jerseys and fan gear in game. That would be cool.
I always thought there should be a way for the teen girls to have slumber parties,I loved slumber parties when I was a teenager. This would satisfy the having a party want and one parent would have to be home for it to occur. The parents would help serve food and maybe organize a game or two. When it gor too late, parents could scold the children for making too much noise. What would a slumber party be without boys trying to sneak in?Parents could try to prevent the boys from entering the house and if the boys succeeded, the girls would get a boost to their social scores.Just an idea.
No more of this autonomous entry by stray pets........I am sure there is a hack somewhere to fix this, but I always thought it was a bit odd that strays could walk into my sims' houses uninvited and start trouble.I have the no strays sign from Simslice but this shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. It doesn't occur in real life.
Better looking townies...the townies in TS1 were beyond ugly...and the ones in TS2 are not much better.....I like to create a single sim and marry them off to someone who isn't neccesarily a created sim but the townies are so goofy looking that I shudder to think what the children will look like.
Give me a precreated alien family!mom, dad and kids!there just aren't enough aliens in the game for me.
More food options...a few ideas I had were granola bars, oatmeal and bacon and eggs for breakfast, tacos, for lunch and steaks for dinner...I know you can download a lot of food but I would like to have it in game if possible.
Ownership of objects on multiple sim lots..if you have 2 sims that live together, each would have their own beds, computers and other things, and after a time they would only use their own stuff. The pets do it,why can't my sims?
Special objects for aliens only...like a special phone to use to call the mothership(in case they get homesick) they can go for a vist or they can leave the lot permanantly.Aliens would also have special interactions avaialble only to them(such as a special greeting,a special food, you get thei idea)
I am sure I will think of other things but this is what I have for now.
