Title: Enabled Insurance Policy to Non-Elder

I was playing the other night and thought about an insurance policy for sims that die unexpectantly, ie. satillite, drowning, hunger, etc.  I know that when sims die in teen to adulthood, there is no money left for the family.  I know that it sounds strange for teens to have insurance policies on them, but with the days we live in now, it is practiced in my family personally, hoping never to use them.  I wonder if one the hacksters ( ahem round of applause for Monique, the financial wizard of my sims game) can come up with something.  I think it would be helpful for my family sims whom have a need for this when one parent dies of accident (or oops on my part).  I hope this is the proper format for this forum. If not I am sorry. :|

This is a global hack that enabled insurance policy to non-elder.

Compatibility: OFB and up

Thank you so very much!  I was tired of killing them by old age.  It's more interesting when they die in different ways.  Gee, that sounds morbid, huh?

This is a great idea. I've always wondered why only elders had insurance policies. Now I can have a black widow sim killing off husbands for the insurance money. :muahaha:

Monique:)

This is wonderful:

Thank you lewisb40 and Monique.

I'm loading before I play again.

Wish I had it when I killed of two of my characters last week just to add drama to a story.  Guess it is an excuse to "motherlode" for the family.

I don't like to play cheats unless I am doing something for storytelliing.  But this is more like an egalitarian making up thing.  I won't feel guilty.

Applauses! Yep, this should be in the game, at least for adults, who are the ones who makes Life errr Death Insurances. Most of the Insurance companies put a lot of trouble to insure elders.

Dick Dreamer was quite insignificant. His father was more interesting. Right choice. Oops!

Monique you are my hero.  I tell everyone who play the sims like I do, that you are a financial wizard and I download everything for the money part of my game.  WooHoo!!!, I am going to feel better when one of my sims die young.  The family gets money!!  Hey Ozzucay, Pescado says that we will be killing off sims and committing insurance fraud.  OH Well!!!

BTW, I am a female, even though the name says lewisb40, that's my married name.  Ha! Ha!  Thanks again. (starting up the game now)

Thanks so much for making this hack. I've always thought it odd that only elders had life insurance. I always felt it would be very appropriate to have it for all my sims that are married or parents. In real life thats the most important time to have it!

I had a family sim died from watching the clouds, oops, satellite death, and she left a nice piece of change to her family. Each child got 7500, (she had 4 children), and the hubby got 12000.  She was at the top of her job, and generally they were on a tight budget, with the monique computer installed, they were able to get each child their college funds started.  I love this game and you have made it even better. Thanks.

This is a terrific mod.  You are indeed the Sims financial modding wizard.   I play about 85% of my households in a "non-cheaty" manner and your money mods add so much realism to the game.  Thanks! :)

On a side note, do you know of a hack - or is it even possible to make a hack - that can transfer the dead sim's inventory to the next available family sim upon their death?  It should probably only go to a Sim living in the household...maybe the surviving spouse or child, I suppose.
I only thought of this when I realized a few hours after my Sim died that I had left some veggie stock and a very nice custom photograph in his inventory.  :(

In any case, thanks so much!  This is perfect.

First of all, thank you, Monique, for giving us such wonderful hacks. Your work is truly amazing.
However, I have had a problem with this hack. Since I installed it, everytime a non-elder sim dies and the dialogue box about its insurance pops up, everything in the game freezes. Death stands there, wearing his flower necklace, and it becomes impossible to saving the game, exiting it, or doing anything at all. Forcing errors does not work, nor does deleting Death. Is this hack compatible with Seasons? Shouldn't it be mixed with another hack?
Any tip would be welcomed, since I love the idea and would really like to have your hack in my game.
Thank you, and sorry for the necromancy.

"Sims 2 News interrupts this program to bring you a special news bulletin:

"Murder and suicide rates in SimCity have skyrocketed. According to Mayor Simbody, the death toll over the past six months is nearly 20 times greater than that for the same six months of the previous year. Many are now speculating that this drastic increase mysteriously coincided with the arrival of the Monique Simsurance Agency in SimCity last November. The police have no official leads.

"In unrelated news, business is booming despite the slow economy. Hundreds of SimCity residents have been flocking to the shopping and downtown districts with large quantities of simoleons. Spending is not the only thing soaring in SimCity. Surprisingly, morale seems to be at an all time high despite the death estimates that suggest every household has lost an average of 1.5 family members. Police do not suspect foul play.

"We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming."

would it be possible to increase the amount of
insurance
that is given out. I know when one sim husband died his wife only go $5,000 out of his whole $1,000,000.

I've had the same problem actually, had to remove it.  I can't find any other conflicts but when removed, it now doesn't crash the game.  There may be some weird incompatibility with H&M... I think that's when none of my sims allowed the cold hand of death to creep up to them.

Does this change the amount inherited when rich sims die? For example, millionaire elders will still only give spouces 10-20 grand when they die? I'd like something that would enable sims to inherite LARGE amounts of the family funds...
