Title: Handicapped Sim *UPDATED* 11-17-2008
Post by: BlooM on December 10, 2006, 06:39:04 am
Update: 09-17-2008, gave all the meshes with the maxis blockfoot a sexyfeet.
I packaged them seperate, unpack them and overwrite the previous installed ones in your download folder.

Add on: 06-12-2008, added a showerproof bottom without the pegleg.
The one with the pegleg is called ''Invalid_Shower_Mesh'' and the other one ''Invalid_Shower_MeshNOPEGLEG''.
Pick one!!!!

Update: 08-15-2007, showerproof bottom mesh linked to Elders.

**After a few discussions about the title and name of this project ill change the word invalid to handicapped
At the time i created this project i wasn;t aware that the word invalid i had choosen has another meaning in english then in my mother country.
I never had the intention to affend or hurt any one **

This was a project I started few weeks ago but i forgot after a while.
I asked were to post previews because i wanted to know wat people would think of it.
Then Admins opened even a new forum ''Shapes of Sims to come'' for it.(thanks!!)
Anyhow....I had to finished it, before feeling quilty :)
Its a male Sim with a ...uh...   artificial leg.
Saw the pirate outfit once and thought of a hook or a wooden leg :).Then i wondered if there were any handicapped Sims.
Its based on the default Maxis skintones(4 included) wich you reconize in cas by the wheelchair thumbnails.......
Made a outfit for every ocasion, exept Formal.
Instead of the formal outfit i did the Pirat outfit and gave him a nice woody.
Im not good at Recoloring outfits, so there all base Maxis.
The leg was hard enough to color and its still bad, i just dont have the feeling for it, i prefer meshing.
However, it was a funny project :P
Here some screenshots and the files.

Added: Sat June 2nd, Invalid Formal(mesh included)

Good job Bloom! By the screenshots it seems that base game material are used. Do you know if your meshes work with only Base Game installed. I'm interested cause I'm intended to reinstall my small computer with only the Base game. Thanks.

Woow! I have searched in ages for invalid sims, thanks! Any plans for an arm-amputee because that would be great. I can (well maybe XD) even skin it for you if you make the mesh.

Its possible to do a arm amputee but since you cant change the animation on the arms you prolly end up with floating cups, darts etc :)
Donno bout the left arm(if its used much...might be a option, gotto go play and see)

Bloom

I am disabled myself and I really respect u and all the others 4 adding and thinking about us disabled people.  I currently walk but the prospect of ending up in a wheelchair is frightening 4 me, I am fiercely independent.  I would very much like Maxis 2 create a addon pack that was called Special needs, or possibly if Maxis could make a hospital expansion pack in the future which features disabled people.  If people don't like 2 have disabled people in their game then they don't need 2 buy the expansion pack but I bet people would get it ;)

Babes this is just ignorant Invalid sim the only thing invalid about this is the use of english. It needs to be changed to sim with a disability.

Yes, Yero your right!!
We already had that discussion somewere else on this site, and its totally my fault.
The only thing i can say is that in my country(im dutch) we call people with a disability invalid's.
I had never the intention to call them unexcepted as the word invalid means in english(as i been told later)
If i offended some people im very very srry and i know....
I have a little girl with a handicap.
If you want me to change the meshes, recolors and title i will but on the other hand, Jake Lucas(read his post) wasn´t offended and he/she has a disability.

I am actually trying to make a male arm amputee. Its in the very begining stages so I dont know when I will be able to upload. I think the floating cups would be kinda cool though....

This is awesome. Thank you so much!!!!

Bloom: great work once again.I can't wait to use these.
As for the language issue. It was just that a language issue.Anyone can see you had the best intentions and absolutely no malice in your heart. You did a very kind thing please don't let a simple misunderstand discourage you even in the least.
xoxo
Jake Lucas: I've said the same thing for years. It seems as if maxis will try to add a bit more diversity in TS3.We'll see.

your welcome, you can use all the outfits from this thread to cloth your sim.
The prosthetic will cover the pegleg, except fot the long pants, it will clip.
However, you should make a clone from the prosthetic and enable it for undies/swim and sleepwear.
I will add one to the prosthetic post if you like?
I didn't make one in the first place because you wont sleep or swim with it eh?

I can't seem to get the Shower proof bottom with No Leg to work.  I only have that one in Downloads, but can't find it or get it to activate.  What am I doing wrong?

Your right I don't swim, shower, or sleep with my prosthesis on.  So no need to link it to shower, swimming, or sleeping.  Well I sometimes do sleep with it on if napping on the couch and I did get drunk and jump in the pool with it on once. =D  That was at the X-games and I was partying with the Skateboarders.  That was a GOOD night! LOL

Correct, you can not find it
showerproof meshes only show in the shower.
You have to go into CAS(create a sim) and assigne one of the custom 4 skintones to your sim that you downloaded here.
That nude showerproof bottom is linked to that skintone and will be active the sim takes a bath or shower.

I haven't test it myself yet, so ill try that today incase i did something wrong.

there is a way to assigne a new skintone to a excisting sim by using christianlov's skintone changer but for some reason it doesn't work anymore in my game... :(
Maybe cos of the last EP i installed(bath and kitchen) so i prolly need a update for it....
The bottom does work tho ;)

If you have SimPE there is a really easy way to change an Ingame sim's skintone.  First open the skintone you want to use in SimPE and search for the Skintone XML-file. Click on Family and copy the value you see.  I usually copy it to a text file just incase I loose it.

Then open the Neighborhood Browser, then Sim Browser and open the file of the sim you want to change the skintone of.

After you have opened it, then click on more and on open Sim DNA.
Change the existing values of Skintone and Skintone range (both dominant and recessive genes) into the value you copied from the new skintone package.

Then save and exit your done!

was i wrong ;)

Well I had to change my skintone.  So I typed in Change Skintone into the Search on MTS2.  Someone else had asked the question on MTS2 and it was explained there.  Since then I've used that method several times.  I'm even trying to mesh now.  Working on a body mesh for a Body Builder that can wear the prosthesis you made.  It's working, but it doesn't look good enough yet to upload it.  Plus I still have to learn how to make clothes for that body mesh if I'm going to use it.

Oh yeah I had an idea about the prosthesis so I'll run it by you and see if it could work.  What would happen if you took a left foot mesh and snapped it onto the end of the pylon (pole)?  Would it take the skin tone and also take the second shoe of a clothing mesh?  That's actually what a real one looks like.  Socket (bucket on top), then the pylon (pole), and then a skintone foot at the bottom.  If that would work that would be cool!  Then the sim could go "barefoot" on both feet too.  Little story for ya - I set off the metal detector at the Federal Building here barefooted and the guard (I kid you not) said "The foot beeps too!"  His coworker bout fell out of his chair he started laughing so hard.  The poor guy actually was confused about the flesh colored foot beeping the metal detector. LOL  I'll probably tell people about that when I'm old and in a nursing home, it was just too funny. =D

if you are serious about the meshing thing you best take a maxis mesh, open it in milkshape and then assigne a material to it.
When you open the texture editor and view the uvmap then you will understand better how meshing and texturing works.
On the uvmap you see how the mesh is folded out so it can be textured properly

Eimz08 Bloom was not being mean in any way nor was he making fun of people with disabilities. The only one being mean here is you.  I find it amazing that the only people that are offended by a sim with a disability are people that don't have a disability!  I think it's just that they don't want to see any disabilities in their little small minded world.  There are disabled people in the real world why can't there be disabled people in the Sim World? I am a leg amputee and I was glad to find this and use it for my sim!  Bloom even made a copy of my prosthesis to use!

Bloom please don't let people like these get to you.  I for one am very grateful for your work!

Will

i'd definately invest in an expansion pack that features disabled people.

Bloom thank you. Great job. This sim WILL be added to my game.
