Title: Small Lot, Big House
Post by: TheDevian on January 02, 2007, 07:52:34 am
Small Lot, Big House

Cost $100,516
5 floors

Basement, 3 floors + unfinnished attic

Required EP's - Nightlife, Uni, Pets, Glamour, possibly more, not sure anymore lol

It actuly turned out bigger than I had planned, the third floor was effectivly unnessisary, but when I started I didn't want to put in the wonderfull assention stairs so I used the One Tile Staicase trick, and it had been a while, so I did that first off, once in place they are very difficult to move, but that makes this perfect for a big family, or lots of roommates. can you say party house? good, I knew you could =)

you might also notess that once again I used the underground garage (hence nightlife ep) I have been doing this alot lately, because (pirmarily) I like basements. in order to make a proper basement, you must have a foundation, if you have a foundation, then you can not attach the garage to the house unless you make the garage line up with the basement. to me its not a real garage unless it is part of the house, otherwise its just a car port. So, unless one of you imagenitive people knows a better way to go about this please let me know ;) this was just the best option I have come up with on my own and I think it looks neat.

you may also notess that I am not the best at decorating, usualy I tend to just make every room in as dark a color skeem as I can get, because hey, thats what works for me, i am a dark person, but I have been trying to get away from that on some of the ones I have intentions of uploading, and it makes it easier to see the rooms in the pictures. and I also try not to do too much in the way of furnishing the houses becuae that takes away from you being able to fullfill easy starting wants for your sims. easy way to get your want meater up a good ways right off the bat

I like to start the kitchen off with a buffett tho becuase usualy a starting sim has a bad cooking skill and will set fire to the house trying to cook for the welcome wagon, and I hate pizza, someone needs to make a chinese delivery mod!!! ;)

speaking of setting fire to the kitchen, there is a fire alarm and extinguisher over the spot for the oven in the kitchen (extinguisher is from uni)

the counters are from pets, they look kewl and are 2 enviroment each.

the fence and stairs might be from glamour life, although you may not need that to load the house, i am not sure.

I try to do most of my stairways and hallways 2 tiles wide so the there is not a trafic jam, it alwase seems to be an issue in my homes.

on the 2nd floor I made my usual toilet rooms big enough for just a toilet, and 2 shower rooms, for just a shower, again so there is less of an issue with sims getting on other sims way, if one needs the can while the other is showering, or whatever. there is room for 3 toilets and 2 showers in that area, and other places you can put them if desired.

Enjoy =) and if you do any major remodeling or redecorationg I would love to see it. Other than that, I don't care what you do with it, I dont even care if you upload it somewhere else (though I prefer it not be a pay site) if you give me some of the credit that would be cool though heh
took me longer to lay carpet and hang wallpaper than build the house.

and if you want a variation without the required ep's let me know I will strip it of those items and reupload, just let me know.

frankly this is the reason I stil play this game, I love to build. I have 2 others that came to me in a dream and then I forgot them in another dream, but they are still kind of 'inprosses' but I will upload them soon, I hope...

the small bit of custom content is all by me and should be included, if not you can get it from my other post, the tendo(u) dojo (still the one i am the most proud of heh and the only one I have uploaded to any site other than this one, becuase I like you guys the best)
