Title: Baby Blues
Post by: Nukapei on December 30, 2005, 09:00:04 pm
New eyes!  I couldn't find a pair of intense blue eyes like I wanted, so I just made my own.  I know, took me like five minutes, but I'm happy with the way they turned out.

It's cool you made something custom that looks decent. I suck. I put some stuff on the TS2 exchange and they all suck. (username: mipmip12)

It's just all a matter of knowing what you want ahead of time, and practice.  For example, I started this project knowing I wanted light blue eyes, I didn't just clone something because I wanted to make some 'cool' eyes, not knowing what that meant.  Another thing I've found is sticking close to the Maxis original -- I'm not that crazy about 'natural' looking anything.  These literally took me five minutes to make -- I stuck it in my graphic editing program, lightened them a bit, stuck 'em back and saved.  Easy as that.

What image editing program do you use? I use MS paint, and all the stuff I maketurns out all pixelly in the game. I know that Adobe photodeluxe or something is good.

Adobe?  Psh.  I use the GIMP, available here (http://www.gimp.org).  Make sure you download the correct version, and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD ANYTHING!  But it's very powerful, and 100% free.
