Title: Beauty marks?
Post by: rainym3rl3n3 on January 28, 2007, 12:45:24 am
Does any one know where I can get info on how to create beauty marks or moles? Does any one take request? I'd love to learn how to do such things.

I think this would go better in the Where Can I Find...? forum. But, since it's here, I'll be nice.

There's some here (http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=202263), and I can't find it right now, but I have a collection of birth marks in my game (different placings of multiple "beauty" marks).

I think rain is looking for a tutorial or how-to to make the beauty marks.

D'oh. Sorry, I'm slow tonight. -_- I got thrown by the "Does anyone take requests" remark.

I'm not positive on how to go about making them, but you'd probably have to make them as glasses, like a lot of piercings and necklaces are, or as a mask.

a beauty mark is a full face make-up like a clown or other costume - what you want to do is start Body Shop and start a new project. Select Create Parts

Select Start New Project

Figure 2.

Select Create Facial Hair, Makup & Glasses

Figure 3.

Select the full-face makeup icon - and scroll to the far right side and pick one WITHOUT an asterix *

Export the files to begin your work.

Give the file a name you will remember - since it is a beauty mark, let's name it BeautyMark.  You should only use the following Latin characters for names because not everyone will be able to use files with unicode characters (http://unicode.org/) in the names:

   ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
1234567890 - _

You should avoid using spaces, accented letters, ligatures, special or non-Latin characters in project names:

   Do NOT Use These!

ÀÁÂÃÄÅÆÇÐÈÉÊËÌÍÎÏÑÒÓÔÕÖØÙÚÛÜÝÞß
àáâãäåæçðèéêëìíîïñòóôõöøùúûüýþ
₤№™€ⁿ•†‡ЯШЮΘΩ ... etc

Wait until Body Shop has finished exporting the files for editing.

Now locate the bitmaps (BMPs) in the projects folder - because we named this project BeautyMark, look for this:

   My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Projects\BeautyMark

You should find 3 files in the folder:

   BeautyMark.package
some-name.bmp
some-name_alpha.bmp

The BMP without _alpha in its name can be painted all black.

The BMP with _alpha in its name can be painted all black - but then you add a dot of medium grey somewhere.

Save your changes to the BMP, and look in Body Shop again and click the circle arrow to refresh the image and see the changes.  I have used two large heart shapes and a red base for this example to clearly demonstrate the change.

When you have something you like, import into the game and you are finished.

If you wish to share your final product, look in your Savedsims folder for a file with _BeautyMark in the name:

   My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\SavedSims

In my case, the name was e4c8f8df_BeautyMark.package, but you will see another name with weird letters and numbers.  This is the thing you will share - the stuff in the projects folder in just useless junk when you are done :)
