Great idea! Should we post free content only or just make a note if it's sub stuff?

I would imagine you could post any content (except adult content, of course), as long as you leave a little note that they're pay items like you mentioned.  All the stuff I listed was free, and most of it is from MTS2. ;)

this is a great idea brenda!!!...
these are a must for contests and posing. "omsp." allows you to pose your sims on beds, counters, tables and coffee tables...etc
beds and counters (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=217234)
end tables (http://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=178963)
desks and tables (http://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=178902)
coffee tables (http://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=178791)
follow the links in the thread to find a tutorial by hystericalparoxym on how to use them.
I always wondered how people got those little lights behind their sims. and these are those
xanathons star lamps (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=64478) check out xanathons page for heaps of cool stuff.

I have tons of stuff to add here... when I find the time.

Post by: Kielen on February 16, 2007, 01:26:20 am
What Dese said...SOOOOO much practice. And I'm not even close to some of these people. I love looking at the pics of people I admire. You can learn a lot of about composition by looking at different pictures.
I tend to plan how I want my pics to look. I decide what I'm going to do first, and then build the sets I need, and then figure out what animations I'll use, and then shoot.
Oooo...and flexibility and time is important. I had to rebuild a set in the middle of a shoot because I was a dodo and put the bed too close to the wall...
And...uh...that's all for now. I can't think straight any more. LOL!

The "One more slot package" is incredible.

I have been using GunMod's Camera found here (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=97642) at MTS2.
After some practice and getting used to, this mod really allows for some AWESOME screenshots. I get really good angles and closups for picture taking.

One of my new favorites are the mural sets put together by Hafise25. You can find 'em all here (http://www.insimenator.net/search.php?searchid=725317)! I'm generally not a big fan of real backgrounds in sim pics, but I was able to make a few of these work really nicely in the Cutest Toddler contest and I really appreciate them.

windkeeper of TheSimsResource - she has a lot of great stuff but these two are my favorites for contest stuff.

Custom Built Aquarium Superset

Practical Minilights - Can be placed overhead or conveniently under items so your shots are well-lit.

Not everyting on TSR is pay.  You may have to wait for it to come on free rotation, but for my money, TSR is the best pay site.

Also you guys: This new mod to brighten up bodyshop is availiable at MTS2, its featured.

For some of the sims I use in contests, I create them in Bodyshop so I can really tackle their facial features.  Well up until now, it was so hard doing this because the lighting in bodyshop SUCKS LOL well lo and behold...

229 ingame Maxis objects in collection files (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=131127)
A-ma-z-i-n-g... purely decorative but great potential for decorative props for pictures. Doesn't add to your downloads size, just put the collection files in your collections folder and suddenly you have tons more items!
The only thing is you have to be in build-mode then collections to view them if you have pets.

Title: Cool Finds for Contests!

Dese there are these horses  (http://www.thesimsresource.com/downloads/sims2/themes/fathemeweeks/farm/search_horse/), but they are not extremely realistic (they are like chairs). How do you want your sims sittting on the horse? There are some other ways to make them look like they are riding the horses. Let me know and I'll try to help. ;)

Post by: franciele on March 05, 2007, 12:38:01 pm
The only thing I don't like about those is the sim's facial expresions for story telling. I usually try to have them sitting and use the sitting/talking hack to give them expresions them move them to horse. Sometimes it works sometimes.. well lol. I just don't like their blank expresions. If you have some surface that is invisible that you can place your sims on top of, you can probably use the more realistic horses. A little moving around and camera angles it should work too, just an idea. :D

Franciele--I don't know about the llama, but have you tried Shaklin's Model Animation Changer (http://www.shaklin.net/)? It's a flamingo that lets you pick your sim's facial expressions. Might work for the horse.

I know this has been asked...but could someone explain to me on how to do the model walk that you see in a lot of the pics? I think its fantastic, and I cannot for the life of me turn it off.

Also, how do you turn off the little video's whenever someone get engaged/married/having a baby? I notice people get great pics when someone is proposing...and I don't know how to turn it off. Its probably a stupid question...I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way? Thanks for your help in advance!

The walk is set using shaklins mod that's listed a couple of posts above. I think there's an option for the sims to walk normal again using it.

The videos are the special event camera in game, I think. It should be under options and you can turn it off there.

Ooh, and more one slot packages (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=225215)! for couches, fireplaces, pianos, low fridges and high fridges.

FOR MISSDOH'S NEW CONTEST (The Karaoke one):

Dance Hack (http://modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=195616)

To make it easier to get those dances (ALSO HULA AND MORE CAN BE USED)

Prop Attachment Hack (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=185863)

Click on it, and choose Microphone... Add Permanently ( sp? ), and the choose:

Repo Gun... Pose... Start

OR

Guns... Pose... Start

EXPERIMENT ABOUT WHICH SEEMS TO FIT FOR YOU

The Microphone pose gets the mic too far away, while the two mentioned above get the mic closer to their face.

Well since nobody posted about this yet, I thought I should all let you know about new Paladin's tool.  The Fashion show controller.

Here is a little resume of what it is doing copy/pasted from the site:

"New Object Set: Fashion Show Controller - Now you can have models in designer clothing strutting their stuff on the catwalk. The fashion show controller will let you put on a fashion show with as many as eight models. Each model can be attired in any outfit in your game, including your favorite designer clothing (custom content)."

I did not tried it personally so I won't take any responsabilities about it.  It is surely interesting though.  Can be found here:  http://www.simwardrobe.com/ (http://www.simwardrobe.com/)

Once on the site, you need to go in the Sims 2 object section.  Click on the "other objects ???" icon.  The fashion show controller looks like a blue vase, it is the last item from the list.

Have fun :)

Well, I'm not 100% sure that this hasn't been posted before (because I'm to lazy to go trough the whole thread), but I found something that's really useful for pics that have to be on a plain bg. (for avatar and group-pictures purposes)
It's located right here (http://www.benspage.de/sims/downloads/furniture/picture_background/1.html) and basically is a rug which is curved up (it's kinda like a photo studio background). Which means, no more lines in the bg's from bodyshots!

Now all we need is some recolors. ;)

Now all we need is some recolors. ;)

I love this!! It makes it so easy to photoshop in backgrounds!!

Urm.... I use theseWalls (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=107046) for headshots and bodyshots also...they don't have the lines and discoloration like the maxis walls, they're pretty darn good. :)

can anyone tell me where to get that other lighting mod? it wasn't as drastic as the radiance mod is. i think it was scooby or something like that. can anyone point me to the right direction? i can't see what i'm doing in game most of the time LOL

Toddlers get in and out of bed themselves!

http://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=253659

I love toddlers in the game but getting them in and out of bed is a pain.  With this bed they will go to bed by themselves and get out of bed by themselves.

I have it in my game and it works fantastic.  Would be good for contests if you are focusing on another sim in your storyline.

Before I post in the WCIF? thread, I thought I'd ask the experts here.

Do any of y'all know of a hack that allows you to use the animations from the diving board without actually having to be in swimwear?  I know that the Season's object added the options for the slide, but I don't think I've seen one for the diving board.  Some of those animations would be perfect for my line of pic taking.

SynapticSim, I don't know of such an object, perhaps aikea_guinea's paintings have the animations?
Sometimes you have to go the hard way, I mean actually putting the sim to perform the animation. If you want your sim to wear their everyday clothes while they dive, pause the game at the right moment and use the Insimenator's Wardrobe Adjuster to dress them in everyday.
It may prove to be a b...h because if you take out your sim from the pool they will most likely vanish underground, so you might want to put them on an upper floor... dunno if it will help :-\

Hope that helps :)

EDIT: I've just realized that I actually have pics taken with this method, so here you go:

Well... It says in the description if you don't have the EP that uses the animation, then the animation just won't work.  So I'm guessing that no, you don't technically need one to run it.  ;)

And to add on to it, the fabulous Decorgal has also re-released her custom modeling pose box with new modeling poses (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=272312)... unfortunately MTS2 just went down for maintenance at the moment... :x  (I guarantee this... I'm getting this as soon as it's back up.  )

EDIT:  Just as quickly as it went down it's back up.  Go forth and retrieve this beautiful mod!

kitty, what do you mean? in terms of how they pose or their facial expressions, or the CC used on the sims? There are realistic skintones available. I have Oepu's (you can find them on mts2). You can also find realistic eyes (I use Anva's).

It's probably a combination of realistic genetics, as summer mentioned, with a good graphics card, and not using the in-game camera.  All of those things will make your Sims look more realistic.  :)

This isn't really a find so much as something I do to help myself on contests. When I start a contest, I create a collection folder in game just for it and name it like the sims name or name of the contest. Then when I download stuff or am looking through all the catalogs then I assign the things I think I might want to use to that collection folder. Later when Im getting ready to start my pictures, then I just click on that contest folder and almost all the stuff I want to use for that contest is there in one spot and then when the contest is over I can either delete it or see if applies toward another one Im in. When you have as many downloads as I do it can take forever sifting through them to find this or that so having a collection folder per contest really helps me save time looking.

I've always wanted to put my sims on top of things while doing poses but I wasn't able to 'cause I don't own OFB and don't have the tray, but the other day I was here (http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=6502.0) and saw these Sim posers OMSP's   for which you don't need OFB!! Hope this helps someone!!!

Now all we need is some recolors. ;)

Does anyone still have this object? I became really dependant upon it and need it as soon as possible.

You might have better luck posting a thread in WCIF section. :) More people will see it.

As far as I know, it has been reposted in the Objects section with the recolors here on this site.  ;)

So, this thread hasn't been posted in for a while, but I just found a shiny for my game filled with pure awesome and had to share it with anyone else who likes to take photos for stories, contests or just for the challenge of taking different photos. (Sometimes thread necromancy isn't so bad. A bit smelly from the zombification, but not all zombies are bad). ;)

I'm a pose box junkie and I have found a pose box for riding horses. It comes with saddles, bridles, saddle clothes, etc and will hopefully have a galloping horse (to go with the galloping pose) included in the (near) future. The great thing about these horse accessories is they have been made so that they adjust for each horse's pose/style so they fit. I seriously squealed when I saw this.

Check it out (http://www.feenwald.de/en/posenboxen/posenbox02.php)! (Image heavy, so it may load slow for those with slower connections)

I LOVE that one ;D Only wish I had it before... But I'll probably find a use for it anyway, if I know myself...

Ooooh. That's pretty cool. I think I'll download for the heck of it.
I need to know how you got you CC finding skills Joy!  ;D
Let's see if I have a find that I could share...
I hope these haven't been posted before.
A little posebox catalog  (http://fatesribbon.blogspot.com/2009/03/pose-box-catalog.html) I'm sure most of you have seen this, but it's a big help if you haven't.
A list  (http://gardenofshadows.digitalperversion.net/index.php?topic=1082.0) of EVERYTHING to do with posing sims. Ha, I spent a ridiculous amount of time going back and forth between these two links.

OMG Joy!  Thanks so much for resurrecting this thread!  I've been in the process of making a pose object for horse riding, but I've only gotten two poses into it.  This is SOOOO much more indepth than I could have come close to making.  Love this!

Thanks!

Oh, but you're still going to make yours right? I'd love to see it!

It's possible, I'll continue with it, just depends on the poses that this one includes.  Here's a preview pic of what a sim looks like on mine.

Unfortunately, I've had a set back on everything because my motherboard died on my PC.  I've gotten a new desktop since then, but I'm still working on getting all my stuff off the old hard drive.

At the very least, this will give me more options for poses on saddles.

Dang, I sympathize with you on the computer woes. Last year my power supply went, followed by the hard drive two months later (I powered up and got the click of doom), then, around Chrstmas, my video card took a dive. Thankfully, I was suspecting this, so I got one for Christmas. :)

And, Syn, I have to say that look so cool. Now that I have some poses for horses, you know I'll be wanting more. I'm just greedy that way. I like options.  ;D

Everyone likes options, and that looks awesome!
