Title: Fun with Plant People
Post by: Corylea on March 02, 2007, 05:17:30 pm
I just had my first normal sim turn into a plant person, and it's fun.

He was spraying a buggy plant, and then a cloud of spray enveloped him, and I thought, "Oh, crap, he's poisoned himself."  But no.  After the game froze for quite awhile (must be a complicated transition for the poor guys :-)), he turned into a plant sim.

Plant sims have three needs:  Sunlight, Water, and Love.  No more toilets, comfy sofas or TV!  One of his options when taking care of plants now is "talk to plant."  And he hunkers down beside a plant and has a conversation.  He seems to talk about normal sim interests, but ones that are especially relevant to plants: weather, environment, and animals.  At one point, he was talking about ladybugs and made buzzing sounds when talking. :-)  I had him talk to a sickly plant, and he made it healthy again, just by talking to it.  AND talking to the plant satisfied his own "love" need.  Cool!

When his water need got low, I tried having him drink some water, but that only raised it a little bit.  But taking a shower -- bam!  Full up! :-)

Well, this happened five minutes ago, so I don't have a lot of details yet, but I thought it was fun and wanted to encourage people to try it at least once.

Happy simming!

If you play in the Flowerhill or whatever is called(I'm in sweden) there is a family of plant people, they have a toddler. The girl can shake her head and get a toddler for 4 days, then the toddler becomes an adult.I already have 3 plant families and I'm totaly into the gardening thing.
Remember to use sunlamps into the house, plant people needs sun.
I have now hudge bathrooms, they need waterII already created the bussiness center and a citty for them. I stayed at home today and played flatout.I love the snow and the rain.Love the game again!

I made my first plantsim and he alrready has plant grandchildren (thanks to age changing cheats) The grown plant children seem to start out with a family aspiration.  For instance the plant grandchild, Bud, wants six grandkids of his own.  And the wishing well sure makes it easy to find love quickly (Yay!)  Plus the non-plant spouses are great for using the abandoned furniture and such.  Plus you can spend a seemingly endless amout of time downtown as long as you have some sun lamps installed in the buildings.  And I now have an additional use for the bath tubs I installed downtown to keep the dogs clean, how convenient.  I LOVE plantsims Yay!

The wishing well mentioned is kinda cool if only it was a little more random and had some variety in regards to the spawned love interest.

I have a werewolf living with a servo, and I turned him into a plant sim - he's become so easy to look after since, and I actually have a use for the drinking water now :D I'm surprised the hot tub doesn't boost the water as much as it would taking a bath though, maybe 'cause it's too hot?

Anyway, I got him to spawn a plant-baby, the guy was maxed out on skills so his tot now has no use for smart-milk, and I got the skill-building toys only to keep her busy. Neither of them even need to sleep - after the fun I've had with some families this is heaven! Might get them to start a business selling home-grown produce if that's possible, since I've got them some orchard trees and garden plots. Will be interesting to see if the juicer keeps his water level up, since it's still liquid.

I'm seriously loving these guys :D

Hi all, I am sitting here reading how 'easy' plant people are to take care of.  But I have a plant person problem, a toddler!  I am playing the premade family with the mom and toddler plant and the human dad.  The mom does fine, she gets all that she needs and she is very easy to maintain.  The little one is a nightmare.  She is in the dark red when it comes to sunlight, but the little bugger won't go anywhere where there are sun lamps.  I literally put her in her crib and put two sunlamps over it, her need for light started to get better, made it to orange!  Then the little pest jumped out of her crib and away from the lights.  She was constantly playing in the toilet, so I put some sun lamps right over it, now she does not go near it.  Her love and water are maxed, but her sunlight needs never even get as good as yellow, I am afraid I will lose her.  It seems like my only option would be to put a sumlamp in every available space in the ceiling!  That's just not practical.  Help me!  I am so afraid I will lose her, I don't mind picking off the occasional adult, but I could not handle killing a little baby.  Any Ideas??????

Just direct her to play with toys in her room, she should be fine then...

I didn't have too many problems with Daisy, I just placed sun lamps over her toys. She played with them a lot, and usually played with the dog I got them in that same room.  As far as I could tell with the crib, they were messing with us.  There is no reason to ever put a toddler plant sim in a crib.  They don't sleep and they don't need comfort.  If she gets too low, one thing you can do is have the mom or dad hold her and cuddle her either outside or under a sun lamp.

If you have problems whith the sun light, put some green house lamp under the toddler, but use moveObjects on and then Bam! the sun light need is up!! =)

Violet, Camellia, Crysanthemum (Or however its spelled), or if your into oriental things, Snapdragon, or if you want a Japanese name for a boy, Hanamaru essentially means "Flower Son". Harumaru means "Spring Son", Natsumaru is summer son, Akimaru is autumn son, And I'm not too sure, but I think Fukumaru is "Winter Child"

I used a couple of motherlodes, turned the house into a giant greenhouse with lots of sunlamps, and I've had no trouble at all.  I really love plant people.  Rose spored a second child, Oleander, and I'm thinking of having her spore a third.

I got a little silly with Rose's quads, and gave them all plant names.  Can't remember them all, but two were Basil and Acorn.  I think they're all boys.  Rowan, Juniper, Heather, and Ivy all all good female plant sorts of names.

I guess I thought it was a girls name cuz' I've actually met women named Rowan, but not men.  Guess it's one of those things...like being surprised to meet a man named Shannon cuz' I was sure that was a girl's name (due to having hung out w/ a chick by that name in Jr. High).  Gender Neutral names can be confuzzling to weirdos like me. :D

more, Ash (it's a tree), Heath, Fern, Hazel, Myrtle, Willow, Laurel

I have turned all my plant sims back into regular sims, I find the whole not sleeping, having no childhood, and wilting without sun and water, to be a little too much for me sometimes. I do use Insim to turn some of my knowledge sims into one briefly, also to get the gardening badge :), but I don't leave them that way for long.

The other night, I had my sim talk to an Orchard tree that was on the decline while I focused on the husband playing with the toddler. The next thing I know, she is walking over to the husband wearing the fig-leaf bikini (obviously, she wasn't wearing it before hand..lol). Is that the start of her becoming a plant sim or just an aberration?

Edit:

OK, I feel like an idiot; it turns out that when my sim reached the Ecco Guru level, in her career as a Natural Scientist, she dons the aforementioned fig-leaf bikini and flies off to work. I saw her after she came home from work and just assumed the outfit was due to the spray...to be honest, I was reading about the Plant people and was kind of hoping it had happened to mine...lol.

I NEED HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!  i just got the game and i was playing with the greenman family (with the plantsims) and daisy and her sister lavender grew up. So they each had some babies of their own (Flora, Mapel, Thorn, and Lana) and moved out. they live in their own house now but I CAN'T KEEP THE SUN LEVEL UP!!! I have put the daylight lamps in every single square inch of the house and no matter what, ever if they directly under FIVE daylight lamps, the sun thing is red and it keeps going down. So in all, the sun lamps don't work for me. i am really stressed because i love these people but i can't help them, and it is winter in their house. Can anyone help me? THANKIES! :D

i just got seasons so played the greenmans for the first time last night after reading this thread!

goodness, but plant sims make a nice change... the toddlers just happily skill themselves and just need the occasional bath. jason burnt some food and i had put a sprinkler in the kitchen, after it went off needless to say the puddles of water were a great source of amusement.:happy8:

Use that bug spray every chance you get.

Buy a few trees instead of just one.

Wake your sim up in the middle of the night to go down and spray trees if you have to.

Spray! :)

Then you could get one.  Just might happen.

Have I mentioned that your sim should spray the trees?

Don't get the ladybug house.... not until you're successful.

I love plantsims. <333  They're so much fun.  I totally forgot I had a ladybug house and I sat there, like, HAY, WHY DON'T MY PLANTS GET BUGS. D:<  Then I realized, oh, ladybug house = no bugs. xD;;  So I didn't buy one when I got a garden for another one of my Sims, who adores gardening; it's her life, pretty much.  She sprays her plants before she goes to work, and her husband sprays them while she's gone.  I'm afraid he's going to turn into a plantsim, because he's like, a celebrity, and I can't imagine having a celebrity plant-sim. ; n;  But I don't mind his wife much. xD  After all, she IS the garden-holic.  So it's fine with me.

I had no idea that the heat lamps gave the plantsims sunlight.  To think I always made them go outside when I wanted them to get sun! xD!!  But I'm okay with it, mainly because I love gardening with Rose.  She has mystical healing powers or something. o_o  I have yet to download a replacement skin for the plantsims, but I'm getting ready to right now. xD

Ive always fount mythology to be a good resource for names.
