This is a recolor of the maxis Young Adult outfit that it looks like, so of course it's not worthy of consideration as any sort of new creative artwork.  The download includes only the outfit for YA males.  The anonymous model's headgear and glasses are by Maxis; they come with one of those silly expansion packs that you can no doubt steal from somewhere on the net.

Are you tired of all those poor people with their pathetic busker jars and subscription schemes on their Sims sites?  Do you believe it doesn't matter who you hurt as long as you get what you want?  Do you enjoy hurting others because this is your way to assuage your pathetic ego?  Do you want to clear out all the riff-raff so only the arrogant rich can afford Sims sites? Want to keep all but the richest of the rich from engaging in any form of art so that talented paupers can't outshine the piteous produce of the privileged rich folk?

Are you able to invent increasingly absurd rationalizations for your crimes and still believe them?

Want to drive all the great Sims artists off the net and make them get real jobs where they produce really useful things like male enhancement nostrums and porn sites with never-ending pop-ups?

Need to make sure that no struggling single moms can afford to stay home with their children?  Have you grown weary of all those fan artists making all that neat stuff that makes your game so much fun?  Do you seethe with envy of the artists who can actually do this stuff?  Want to get back at them really good?

Let's keep those buskers out of the concert halls and on the streets where the beggars belong!  Wear this T-shirt and tell it to the world!  But don't forget to hide your cowardly thieving face behind a mask of Internet anonymity while you claim that you're not a criminal!

I think he's making fun of the site "Paysites must be destroyed" and this is actually pro-pay content, though he's lumped pay and free sites together and called them fan sites. It would actually make more sense for the shirt to say "Paysites must be destroyed" (but sarcastically) but that phrase was already in use ;)

I'm so annoyed with so much crap that hasn't got any shading... i mean i'm no photoshop expert but i know it's not difficult to just use a damn gradient map rather than destroying all the texture from a piece of clothing / object. Then all you have to do is apply a logo / text or pattern or whatever... it's SO not hard!

Oops.  Yup, I was being sarcastic.  Keeping Sims sites and Sims fan artists on line has been one of my major hobbies for the last six years.  It all started with hosting folks like Dincer Hepguler, y'see; which I still do.

The point is that those who espouse the philosophy that fan artists don't deserve to be compensated are arguing that only the very wealthy should be allowed to create the stuff.  It's great if you're rich enough to be a dilettante, but very few Sims artists have that kind of money to burn.

In a darker vein, there's not much to say about the attempts of crooks to justify their crimes.  I know that dishonest people don't want to face up to their crimes, but that's the reality of it.  If you steal, you're a crook.  No amount of noise can change that.

I'd say my Maxis dog ate the petition, but I won't even joke about owning that expansion because it's part of the Gangster Computer God Worldwide Secret Containment Policy made possible solely by Worldwide Computer God Frankenstein Controls, known more commonly and subtly as Electronic Arts.

SakuraSan101, no offense intended; it is a true story.  The underlying point is that the philosophy espoused by the arrogant rich criminals is to destroy the livelihood of less fortunate professional artists.

This is actually a fansite, so is Mod The Sims, so they should all be destroyed!  What would be funny is if EA disallowed custom content for Sims 3.  Heck it would be funny if Bon Voyage wasnt compatible with custom content.

I'm not too worried that EA will intentionally make an expansion pack or a new game that prevents the fans from making custom content.  

I can't speak for them, of course, but I'm sure that their marketing folks understand that every smidgeon of fan-created content on the web is another little incentive for people to buy their games.  In fact, I can't think of a cogent business reason that EA would want to slow down fan artists; while at the same time, I can think of lots of business reasons that they wouldn't want fan artists to go looking for a competing game to support. :)

EA has no interest in preventing CC, its bad for business. I have good reason to believe that future releases from Maxis will be more CC friendly rather than less.

Unfortunately the humour in this particular artistic statement is somewhat limited for me, some of us get routinely subjected to too much crap from people who genuinely believe those sentiments. I don't personally enjoy stuck up kids giving me a hard time because they feel I should close my site if I can't afford to pay for it entirely myself, sadly for me the most important decision I have each day is not whether to take the blue or the pink Lexus out for a spin. The bewildering sense of entitlement that seems to be so pervasive throughout this community continues to shock me, the idea that not only should creators make things, they should also be solely responsible for paying for the privilege of other people playing with their creations? The community's deranged obsession with pay sites completely ignores the fact that *someone* has to pay to keep these websites online. Keeping websites free involves more than simply bullying those who can't afford their sites offline.

But the thing is, nobody is putting a gun to your head and saying you must make CC and distribute them for free. If you choose to make content and set up a website, that's *your* decision, and nobody else's. Therefore, why should you expect everyone else to pay for it? It's a hobby, not a business!

At the end of the day, there are sites out there like The Sims Resource that are simply in the business of taking players content and charging for it, claiming the copyright for themselves and paying a handful of privileged "Featured Artists" to churn out an increasing number of substandard items for a ludicrously high subscription price. The rest of the contributors, of course get absolutely nothing, not even ownership or control over their own submissions.

I used to make content for Sims 1 for a now-gone website (Living-It-Up). I did it because it was fun, not because I thought I was entitled to other fans cash! I never received a penny for my work, and I certainly never expected to. I did it because I wanted others to enjoy it.

In case you think that your "irony" got lost, it didn't, many just chose to ignore it. You're mixing intentionally free fansites with paysites. Many others make a distinction, you know?
Paysites take money out of the pockets of the same simmers that could buy one expansion more. From a business point of view why should EA support paysites? On the other side I can see very good business reasons to support real fansites, as in free fansites.  
I wonder where paysiters would go looking for a "competing game" that allows them to get currency for custom content.

Can someone explain to me, my brain is starting to explode from trying to find the humor and logic.

Poor people who want to make their own Sims CC sites need to a. get a less expensive hobby, b. ask for voluntary donations without "gift sets" as an incentive, or c. get together with other 'financially challenged' Sims CC creators and split the hosting bill together. Donators could be rewarded with something other than exclusive gift sets and donation meshes (which is a violation of EA terms). For example, if a site is set up to allow people to download only one file at a time (like MTS2), donators could be rewarded with a higher bandwidth allowance (three or more items at a time), since donations are only to help pay the bandwidth bills, right?

Yeah Paysites are way too expensive and actually I have seen more better designs on free sites. I agree!! Beides we pay plenty enough on Maxis Games as it is, we dont need to line other peoples pockets as well.

   It all started one foggy morning when I got a call from Betsy Hawtbaudy, the doll who runs the Home for Incurable Kleptomanics.  That's where the feds lock up the crooks who can't seem to get a handle of basic moral values.  I couldn't guess why the feds would need help from a third-rate gumshoe like me and I wasn't too keen on the idea of working with a bunch of sociopathic loonies, but I didn't want to miss the chance to see Betsy again.  Besides, business was slow and I needed the money.

I know I'm not a creator, and I don't spend the hours lovingly crafting cc that you guys do, but I really appreciate everything that ppl such as warlokk, beoxboy, neen and bloom post up for free.

I also object to the insinuation that by not choosing to visit paysites when I can go to places such as dlmuslow's forum and get really amazing content that is kindly put up for me to use, I am impinging on another person's quality of life or stopping them from staying home with their child. Where is the generous, sharing spirit of the forums? and why post up this little whine on a free site???!! shouldn't it be on a paysite???!!

Or, create a new penicillin mesh, bork it so that it's either invisible in-game, has huge gaps or has a super low-resolution texture in fluorescent green or yellow. Also don't forget the heavily touched-up photoshopped image that makes the object in question look super-good until you've parted over the cash and seen how bad it looks in-game for the two seconds you get before it kills the game altogether!

Also, offer no refunds, technical support or anything else a freesite creator would give! :)

There's no excuse for paysites, they claim the money goes toward hosting. But it isn't really that expensive to host an individual website anymore (i.e. anything other than large group efforts and very large sites like Insim & MTS2), costs have gone down considerably over the years as more and more people open websites and blogs.

Domain name: $10-20 (so let's say average $15) /year ($1.25/month)
Site hosting: $5-30/month depending on whether you choose shared or dedicated server (only very large sites need dedicated servers), so let's say average $17.50/month.
File hosting: you can get a Rapidshare premium account for hosting your files (each file can be up to 2000 MB) at $86/year, or $7/month.

So an economic, but very functional site can cost around $25.75/month if you shop around and do your homework. How does someone justify a site like Peggyzone.com offering donation scheme from $10-70? Or Carla Niven offering a sub for $15/month? :smt120

If it is expensive for them, it actually HELPS them in the long run in improving the quality of the downloads. If they pay the cost themselves they are forced to only release the best of the best. If they offer really beautiful downloads for free, they can put a 'help us out' PayPal button & people will show their support financially. On the other hand, if you look at a mega huge subscription site like TSR they have about 10% - 15% really talented Featured Artists making the best high-end stuff (usually for pay) and the rest 85% - 90% is page after page of gappy hairs and fugly recolors and stuff that looks like it was made in MS Paint. Paysites become quantity before quality.:sad4:

Newsflash: Anyone who can afford a computer capable of playing the Sims 2, a high speed internet connection, the Sims 2 game + the Expansion packs ($50-18 apiece), has a PayPal account (thus obviously a credit card or bank account), programs like Poser 7 (expensive), Milkshape ($25-40 depending on where and when you bought it) and Photoshop (expensive) is probably not a starvin' Marvin in a hut somewhere. And if they really are poor and are using any sort of pirated software to make their custom content, I don't think they have any right to complain when someone shares their pay content on a site like PMBD.

ok I am confused..ppl are saying paysites are bad, ppl are saying paysites are good, there's a petition against paysites that you have to pay to sign, pls nobody read this and respond all mean that is not what I am here for I'm just saying all this is confusing. There are specific sites that I HATE like TSR I hate them for taking 30 bucks of my hard earned money for puke green furniture,etc but there are things I have paid for that I feel were worth it, they are wonderful additions to my game that I know I could not make myself I mean let's face it I'm too new at all this. sorry if i'm dumb, but i've been reading through the comments, and i still can't tell what the author really meant...

technically, pure paysites, meant merely to make a profit, shouldn't exist, due to that clause in user agreements you get when you install the game...but i can understand donations being requested our of need...
this whole issue is just multifaceted, it's hard to decide which side is right...

i think people need to step back and stop judging. there are far more important things to be concerned about than paysites/freesites for fan made custom content.

I'm not saying one side is wrong or right, just try and calm down, and enjoy the game and the lovely content that is out there.
