I am about to make it my MISSION to report the SimMasters of Sims2.com.I haven't been banned, but i voluntarily left because they are discrimating and don't care for our safety. I have been called, "Dirty Sp**" and "B****" and all kinds of derogatory names and have REPORTED EACH CASE. Nothing happened. Im STILL being harassed. Also, one SimMasterZen(what a b__) is extremely discrimating. in my siggy, i had "im salvatrucha and proud". that means, "im a salvadorian and proud". that dumb mofo took it as a gang affiliation and when i tried to explain, all that ignorant b___ did was say, "you're wearing my patience. i don't care WHAT it means, get it off RIGHT NOW." that shows racism right off the back because i had a spanish word in my signature, she thought it was gang-affiliated. that's racist and it pissed me off like hell.Now, this trick is lucky we were not face-to-face, because where i come from, you would be FLAT on the ground with bruised eyes and ribs for saying that..without one word..just BAM, in the face. is there a way to report these Sim"Masters"?? they think they can rule the entire site and regulate everything. just because that *w*itch didn't understand Latin Culture does NOT make it okay to try to tell me what MY language translates into. I was highly offended and I am going to report that b___. Someone tell me HOW we do that. Because i want her gone. ASAP

Wow, that's horrible. I say screw them. BBS sucks anyways. People here will love you for who you are :) Don't let them get to you. People here are much different and people who call you names based on your race will be banned on the spot.

I highly doubt that they will do anything to her for her actions. You can continue to report it but they may just get annoyed and ban you instead.

That's awful. :(  I've actually had a similar thing happen on a particular forum just because I had given my opinion on one of those "serious discussions".

The BBS sucks.  Especially if they don't respond to abuse reports.  That's just suckiness to the extreme. End of story.  I hardly ever post there because the format just rattles my nerves.  :angry7:

yes, i saw it. i signed ur GB about it. Thank you though. i have actually found quite about 17 other hispanics over there and of course they are outraged! (what luck that a majority of them are from el salvador! heehee). so i contacted EA, and made sure all of them did too. i want her gone. i doubt she will be, but at least im putting my blood,sweat, and tears into trying! thank you soo much though.

Hah! They are an ignorant, insufferable bunch aren't they? I reported an SM for outright abuse many a moon ago, and nothing was done. Some whiny little 12-year-old, on the other hand, reported me as being abusive for saying "calm down, junior," and I was banned.

What a whacky, whacky world. Makes me want to go and ram a splintered 2x4 up their arses.

Wow, and I got a reprimand for using capital letters in my TITLE!!!  Heehee, I guess they are a bit tough, maybe that's why I don't hardly go there anymore, except to get info. Forget them at the BBS, stick to the sims 2 community, who loves and accept anyone.  Even if you use capital letters in your title. LOL!

Like everyone else said screw them, don't allow them to play in your head. I did and it was a mistake. But after I talked to Eric I went and reamed several of them and sent a copy to EA as well with what I thought about the lies and malicious rumors that are spread on there, even by their own employee's. The theft, etc...I haven't been banned yet and at this point I could care less. EA told me they were going to look into the matter and get back to me. If they don't I'll go all the way to corporate if I have to get in my car and drive there to talk to someone in person.

That one of many reasons that I stay away frm corperate sponsered bbs boards. Too many 12 year olds running around and mouthing ignorance.  Add to the fact that most conversation is as the corprate wants. Like yea new ep greatest. Gags. yea its ok to get your feet wet, but please.
 
I know the expectation is that this is maxis and the company should police it better. The reality is that they expect the kiddies to police themselves. And we can see how well that work.... Maxis doesn't really care what happens as long as their products are praised to the heavens.

Lol. I already received warnings from two SM's saying they'll ban me if i don't stop reporting them. you can't tell me NOT to report you. You're being RACIST, STEREOTYPICAL, and OFFENSIVE to an ENTIRE RACE of beings. Your right PegasusDiana, if i have to drive there, I WILL. I refuse to sit there and let someone who is not from my race at all, try to tell me what MY heritage is and what MY language is. Over half of these online dictionaries that SAY they're translating from english to spanish are wrong anyways. Thats how that simmasterzen b**** said she found out what Salvatrucha means. True, if u type it in at Google.com, it will bring up references to MS-13..BUT that is NOT where the word originated from. Salvatrucha(female salvadorian) or salvatrucho(male salvadorian) is another way to call us salvadorians, like "white" is another name for Caucasians and "black" is another name for African-Americans(though there is debate on that). It's ridiculous. I hate her!

Don't do anymore reporting, write to EA and tell them you are going to go to the press. They are allowing discrimination and slander on their BBS by even their own employee's, and are not controlling it. You are tired of being threatened with a ban for reporting them. You feel you are being targeted for discrimination by those overseeing the BBS because of your heritage and you want something done today, not tomorrow.
 
Discrimination is a very heated topic right now in this country, with several new bills coming up before congress. One of them is very heated on both sides.

I co-sign what PegasusDiana said.  If no one is doing a thing about the derogatory name calling and threats to ban you over stating your heritage (and not giving you a proper chance to explain what it means and why), you definitely have a good cause to get the word out beyond the Sims community.  

Make sure you save the proof that this is happening before it all "disappears" into thin air.  They have a bad habit of making it all too coincidental.

You have to realize that the 'maxoids' (OMG - I cant believed I typed anything that stupid) are probably stereotypical nerds on a power trip.  They have no power in real life, so they create these demi-god personas to get worshiped by teenyboppers.  
That won't change, but its always like that...there's another site I used to go to that I wont mention here where I got so annoyed with the bossy higher-than-thou and i-wanna-be-worshiped attitudes that I withdrew myself from there too.

the "sim master" in question actually signed my questbook on my account there. they just tell you to take it up with someone higher on the pathetic chain of command there. she said "because i am not dealing with this issue anymore" like she is REALLY that important or something. i deleted it, what crap. latinlovr: she kept telling me that if i typed in salvatrucha that all i would get would be affiliations to gangs...she honestly wanted to here nothing of it. i know what you tell me is true, because you are from there! even if it was a gang refernece what is it her bus? did she actually go out of her way to research this? what a boob. i say we ALL get over at the BBS and spam the hell out there board!!!!!! :lurk:

You can't babelfish salvatrucha anyway, I just tried. I also typed it into Google, and the whole of the first page was about the gang. I get the feeling that was the crucks of her "research" :roll: It shows an ignorance of the language if she won't let you explain what it really means - a lot of words have lost their true meaning over time which is very sad :(

Don't do that, take the high road. I know your angry, and it's very frustrating when you know what your talking about and someone isn't listening. I never bother to fight with them, it just closes their ears. Think of it this way, your doing what's right and therefore are going to do it the right way. It may help someone that comes behind you that perhaps doesn't understand English as well as yourself. Take it to EA, if you go there and just anger the same people it won't solve a thing.

True. Thanks guys. I already talked with EA and they said they spoke with all the Simmasters and let them know that they didn't understand the culture and therefore can't judge...bullcrap bullcrap. But i still don't see a difference at all.

I just recently has a small run in, I had christian in my sig, well a couple of people reported me and I got attacked by 1 sim master and the other said "Thank you for promptly changing it" while the other called me ignorant and arrogant(seriously). Of course the funny thing is the people who reported me had controversial things, like 1 person had devil in there name, and another had "Republicans are racist faggots", but oh well such is the BBS.

Like I mentioned before, anyone in these types of situations should save any info/evidence relating to the matter.  The more there is against them, the better.  :evil4:

Sheesh, I've met some Christians during my time at Uni who are among the nicest people I've ever met. I'm not one myself, my belief tends to be "you don't need to be religious to be a good person", but that's just me :)

Everything about the BBS is too idiotic for my taste. Just a bunch of ten year olds worshipping whatever comes out of the SimMaster's mouths. Everyone has something of a "more-holy-than-thou" attitude that only makes them look stupider.
This whole situation, while completely inappropriate and out of line, does not surprise me. Things like this have been happening for far too long.
What do you think would happen if every one of us went over and started our own thread about this? I'm tempted to make one myself, though it would probably have no effect on the brainwashed bbsers.

That was just plain ignorant.  It's like someone screaming "Bob shot John!" in the middle of a murder trial, when clearly Bob has no knowledge of the matter... definitely foolish and uncalled for.  The least that person could have done was report them in the proper way.  :roll: (not that I agree with reporting every little thing wrong...)



If they can't control user names as controversial as that, then the sudden tight reins on the sigs really makes little sense to me.  (except for the three line limit.  It's actually quite sensible after seeing the horrors that people call their signatures. :shock: )

Back on the signatures part, the least they could do is have what is/isn't allowed in them while one is customizing their signature, say like, oh I don't know... here on InSim.  At least you see what you need to know while working on it.  There's nothing like having the "up-frontness" like we do here.      It's what keeps me coming back daily.  And to tell the truth, the easiest way that the Maxoids could solve the whole situation is to disable signatures completely.  Why have them to only promote the user's creations/fansites, when all you can easily do is click their name?  :angel:

Not many people on there even use their siggies for promoting their stuff anyway :-?

Huh. After posting I realized that my BBS rank had gone up, even though I hadn't posted anything there or gone there in quite a while. Maybe someone gave me some beans. Is there some sort of celebration dance I do when my rank goes up? I know people there take it quite seriously...

This is a better site.  All Sim2.com is good for is checking the news of upcoming expansion packs.  I wouldn't bother with the rest.  Hostility is something I try to avoid, so I keep my mouth shut and don't voice anything on anything on their boards.

I find bbs people are a little too young. Its really outrageous what they have done, I'm sure EA would really not want to be associated with racism. Don't let them off with this. I'm always surprised about racism , I'm in Newfoundland and was never exposed to it until I went to america, I was shocked. I really hate racism. Why does everything have to be this person cant do this or say this because they are of *blank* color, why? That person shouldnt say things like that not because shes *blank* but because shes human, we're all human and should have humanity for our fellow humans. We have to stop seeing color and realise its just that, a color. We all bleed the same. Sorry for the rant.

I've never posted on the Sims 2 BBS (and I never will - I prefer a civilized, at least somewhat intelligent atmosphere). However, my friend, who is a Catholic African American, has encountered a lot of racism and discrimination, from the general members and Maxis employees alike. She's also been banned twice just for defending herself, her heritage & her beliefs. It's pretty sad, but you've just got to ignore the misinformed, ignorant, brainwashed idiots there.

Anyhoo, we've both learned to stay away from that place.

After reading through this thread, I have to say I'm simply appalled at what people have gone through on the Sims 2 BBS.  I'm glad I'm not active over there!  My heart heart goes out to latinlovr and PegasusDiana, and anyone else who's suffered injustice over there.  I'm not sure what would be the best way to handle it... definitely staying away from the BBS and its twisted community and policies would be a good idea - no-brainer there!  Other than that, going to the press might not be a bad idea, since racism and discrimination in general are such volitle subjects in America.  So much of the population is in total denial that it still exists, while the reality is that it continues to run rampant.  EA is a major company, and I don't know if blowing the whistle on them in the media would work... though it would be nice if they were forced to issue a massive apology to cover their arses.

Just say I've been around the Sims 2 BBS and never liked the '' environment ''. Kids screaming around for remakes of older sims expansions, people who don't accept your opinion and of course racism. I'm portuguese and I was insulted by some idiots which were from Brasil. Still I didn't report a thing because I've heard from some of my friends which were active on the bbs that reporting wasn't the solution.

Just thank god we got Insimenator where people with brains meet and chat like normal people.

I've had a BBS experience everyone!  I asked where a certain topic was and a mod told me that "It wasn't his fault that I couldn't f***ing read."  I told him that it wasn't my fault that he couldn't f***ing spell, and of course he threw a little temper tantrum about that.  LOL.  Now I can relate. :P

Frankly I can't stand looking at the place. How they set it up so fugly and disorganized...don't even get me started on some of the 'Arab bashing' I've seen...*Grrrr*:chainsaw:

I put the link to Insimenator in my signature. They didn't warn me. They didn't ban me. They shut down my account. TS2.com sucks. Trust me-I only go there for Sims 2 updates (once every two or three months) and to laugh at the people who think it's so great.

Those poor, sad, misunderstood people... :sad3:  If only they didn't judge the site by just looking at the name.  Wouldn't hurt them so much if they actually came back to see there's nothing so "adult" about this site... Oh well.

I just read through this thread. If that stupid 'simmaster' would have done just a TAD more research than just looking at the first page of search results from google, she would have found that, OMG! Mara Salvatrucha ACTUALLY meant something BEFORE it became the name of a gang! lol

yeah i was on their message board and i will be a big enough person to admit that i did my fair share of flaming the banned me for a couple of days. and then i posted a thread called to the pansies,crybabys,and idiots you can bite me for all i care and then got banned for a week but i will step up to the plate and admit i was wrong but i really liked that board for awhile and i really enjoyed talking to a vast majority of the simmers so i quit going on there and i have not been back there since and i have not regreted my decision.:rant:

Has anyone else noticed that this draconian crap began around the same time as the Maxis peeps disappeared, and has grown steadily worse since then?

When the securom issue hit the fan a few years ago, my posting rate fell off there radically. I started posting in places like this where one could report fact, rather than corporate wishful thinking.

i remember awhile back when i was on the bbs some snobby little simmer said to me everyone else gets bene but i don't and i gave her this retort i love to burst your bubble but i don't recall ever asking you for a bene and i would'nt ask you for a bene if you were the last person on earth i hate attitudes like that.i think this finger says it all:thefinge:

You never can really tell, but it's a possibility... they'd most likely not be under their user names from the BBS... or just plain outright lurking without signing up.  They just never say anything or give any sign they're here.  :happy8:
