Ok before I go on with the next part of Tara's Choice I thought I would share with you a new story that I have been brewing up. I needed a break from that other family. I hope you like it :)

This is the story of a young couples struggle with infertility. Join them as they go thorough IVF and a lot of pain and suffering. And who knows what may be in store for them.

"Hi, well.... ok this is hard for me to put into writing but I guess I have to do it. My name is Emily Harrison, I'm 33 years old and have a wonderful husband named Caleb who is 35 and a pediatric surgeon at Sparrow Hospital. I work from home as a medical transcriptionist. We live in a nice little 3 bedroom home in a nice community. It seems like everyone around us has children. Thats the whole reasoning of this story, Children. When I was 25 I was diagnosed with something called Polycistic Ovary Syndrome or PCOS. Which basically means I don't ovulate like I should in order to get pregnant. We have been trying to have kids for years but so far no luck. And to be honest my time is about to run out. I know it might not seem like it but in 5 more years it might just be too late. After 8 years of trying It just feel like its never going to happen."

Today is a big day for the Harrison's. Today they are going to see their specialist Dr. Brown for their first try at In vitro fertilization.

Emily and Caleb walked into the doctors office more nervous than anything. They had been being monitored for weeks trying to pin point the time when Emily would ovulate so they could extract her eggs. Emily signed in at the desk as Caleb sat down and began leafing through an old Golf magazine. Emily joined him and also started looking through a magazine. They were the only ones there at 9:15 am and the office was very quiet. Caleb saw how uneasy Emily was and put his arm around her and held her hand. "Don't worry sweetie its going to be ok." He said trying to make her feel better. She looked at him and forced a fake smile and gave him a little kiss on the cheek. She didn't say anything and continued to look through her magazine.

After about 10 minutes of waiting a nurse came to the door and escorted them back into a small room. The nurse gave Emily a gown and stepped out of the room while she changed into it. When the nurse came back in she checked Emily's blood pressure and temperature. "The doctor will be in with you shortly Mrs. Harrison." She said as she walked out the door. Caleb was sitting in an arm chair about 5 feet away from the table she was laying on. "I'm nervous Caleb, what if something else goes wrong?" She said with tears in her eyes. "Oh hunny don't worry it will be ok, this guy is the best doctor in town, I know he will be able to help us he has helped so many others with the same problem." Caleb said very sure of himself. Emily didn't want to get her hopes up and believe him but it was hard not to.

15 more minutes went by and Dr. Brown came into the room. "Hi Emily how are you doing today?" He asked "Oh I'm ok just a big bag of nerves." She said trying to make a joke. "Well you have nothing to be nervous about this is all routine work and after its all said and done you may just end up with a baby in your arms." Dr. Brown said with a smile. He was an older man and looked like he knew what he was talking about. "Ok Emily I'm going to explain to you exactly what we are going to do today, I'm going to start an IV and give you some medicine that will make you fall asleep, then using an ultrasound and a needle we will extract eggs from your follicles inside of you. We will take out all the eggs and then take them to be fertilized in the lab. This whole thing should only take about 30 minutes." He said. "Now do you have any questions before we get started?" He asked. Emily shook her head no and didn't say a word.

In minutes of the nurse starting the IV everything went black.

Chapter 5

Monday rolled around and as soon as Dr. Browns office opened Emily called and told the receptionist that she had taken a home pregnancy test and it was positive. The receptionist took her name and made an appointment for her to come on Wednesday at 2pm to get blood work done and probably an ultrasound to make sure the embryo or embryos had implanted correctly. When Emily got off the phone she tried to sit at her desk and work but it was just too hard. She found herself searching the internet for information on pregnancy and babies and even what its like to have multiples. For some reason her mind kept wandering to the idea of having more than one baby. After reading one persons story of having twins from IVF her heart and mind raced. She thought about the house they had, yeah its 3 bedrooms but one has to be used for an office the other room is just way too small for more than one baby. They would have to move and find something bigger. On Caleb's salary she didn't think they could do it. The house would be so cramped. She worked from home which was good because she would be home with the babies at all times but then again would she be able to work at all with 2 babies screaming and always needing to be fed or changed? She finally got to the point where she couldnt stand it anymore. She left the room and sat on the couch to flip through tv channels. After finding nothing good on she laid on the couch and grabbed the romance novel she was half way into. After 2 chapters she found herself growing tired and the next thing she knew Caleb was giving her a kiss on the check to wake her up.

On Wednesday Emily found herself at the doctors alone this time. Caleb wanted to be there so bad but he got called to go to a conference in Boston and was going to be gone 2 weeks. He hated to leave but he didn't have a choice. I told him I would be fine alone and that he had to go. She waited in the waiting room for a while with a few other ladies a few pregnant, most of them not, at least not visibly. When Emily's time came to see Dr. Brown she found herself nervous and trembling. She sat down on the table, which was better than the chair she had to be in last time. It felt more like a check up and not something so serious. She looked around the room at the pictures and diagrams on the walls. A lot of them were medical related and a few of them were for decoration. The room on a whole was a lot more friendlier than the last. Finally after about 10 minutes Dr. Brown made his way in and gave me a quick hug. "Well I hear congratulations are in order." He stated. He was by far the friendliest doctor she had ever seen. "Well thats only for after your more accurate tests confirm it doctor. We both know those home pregnancy tests can be faulty." She said trying to joke around a bit. "Well they are actually pretty accurate especially the digital ones like the one you took but we will get some blood work on you really quick in a second and then we will do an ultrasound to make sure that baby is where it should be and rule out anything abnormal." He said. He took her vitals and told her that a nurse would be in momentarily to draw the blood. He was right and within 5 minutes he was back in the room with the ultrasound machine. He explained to her that this would be a vaginal ultrasound and that he was going to put a wand of sorts up there to see the baby closer than the normal on the belly ultrasound. As he was moving the wand around inside her she watched the expression on his face go from serious to a smile. "Well Emily I can say that you look to be about 3 weeks pregnant with ONE baby growing right where it should." He said looking at her. Tears streamed down her face and replaced any words she could have said. "Let me just print out a picture for you and we will get you home." He said. He handed her the picture of this tiny little dot that he labeled BABY. She looked up at him and choked out the words "Thank you doctor." He smiled and said "You are very welcome my dear." He walked out of the room and let her get dressed.

She walked to the front desk and payed her co-pay to the receptionist. "The doctor wants to see you back here in 4 weeks and we will call you later today when we get the blood test back from the lab. Just so you can know your beta levels and such." She said. They made an appointment and Emily was on her way home. She wasn't one hundred percent sure how she made it home because the whole way there she was on cloud nine watching happy families on the streets much like she had the day they were driving home on the day her little baby got implanted inside her. Todays drive was on such more of a happy note. She was beaming the whole time. When she got home she didn't really feel like doing much so she went into the spare room and sat on the floor. She grabbed the teddy bear and held it to her chest like a small baby. She talked to her belly that wasn't even showing any signs of a baby there yet for a few minutes before falling asleep clutching the bear.

Chapter 6

Emily's days seemed to go by so slowly while Caleb was gone. She did what work she had as fast as she could so she could get online and look at baby things. She found a forum called Simply Babies that she had joined and had made a few friends who were also pregnant by IVF. It was really cool to meet someone who is going through the same things she is. Emily found herself on that computer all day long. It would be almost 2 am before she would retire to bed some nights. She loved talking to others about it and she hated that Caleb was not there to share everything going on with her. She seemed to be changing so rapidly and even now only a week after her ultrasound she thought she could see a little bump forming low in her abdomen. She would stand in front of the mirror looking at it for hours if she wasn't so nauseous and light headed all the time.

On the day that Caleb was due home from Boston she decided to go shopping to make him a nice romantic dinner. They had so much to talk about and she couldnt wait to tell him about the baby and what he or she was doing to her body. It didn't seem like normal dinner table talk but after all the years of trying she found talk of those sort of things to be so normal for her. She got everything she needed to make his favorite, Chicken and Broccoli on white rice. She picked up a nice bottle of sparkling red grape juice instead of wine for this meal. She thought that even though all the girls on the computer say that a sip or 2 of wine is ok it wasn't worth the risk. She checked out and drove home. Caleb's flight would be in around 6pm which meant she only had 2 hours to get things ready at home before he got there. She got home and was really tired but forced herself to stay awake so she could get dinner done.

It was while she was cutting up the chicken to put in the skillet that she noticed a gush of fluid. She thought to herself that something didn't feel right. She walked to the bathroom to inspect what the fluid was. With everything that pregnancy had done to her body she wouldn't be surprised if it was something totally normal that she was freaking out about. As she looked down she saw that her undies were filled with bright red blood. In between sobs she tried to run to the phone to call Dr. Brown. She had his home number for emergencies and this seemed like quite the emergency. She hadn't even picked up the phone when her head got dizzy and she felt herself hit the floor. After that everything went black.

25 minutes later Caleb pulled into the garage and took his suitcase out of the trunk. He could see the light on in the kitchen when he pulled up to the house so he knew that Emily would be inside probably with dinner waiting. As he walked in the front door he called to her. "Emily hunny I'm home." He stood there for a moment and waited for a response. He thought maybe that she was in the other room down the hall and she couldnt hear him. So he walked down the hall to set his suitcase in their bedroom and to look for her. "Emily are you in here?" He asked going into their bedroom. When she didn't answer he began to panic. It wasn't like her not to come running to him after he had been away for so long. He ran back to the living room and then heard the sound of spattering in the kitchen. He walked in and saw a pan on the stove then looked over to the far wall and saw Emily on the ground. He rushed over to her and shook her trying to wake her up. Then he noticed the blood stain that had seeped through her pants. He turned off the stove and took the hot oil off the burner to cool down and not start a fire. Then he picked Emily up and took her to the car. He drove as fast as he could to the local hospital.

Chapter 7

When Caleb got to the hospital Emily was still unconscious. He pulled up to the emergency bay and ran in to get someone. They rushed out with a gurney and put her on it and ran back inside while he parked the car. Once inside Caleb learned that the doctors were in with her and they needed to know any medical information. So he told them about the PCOS and the IVF and that was all that was wrong with her. The nurse smiled and told him to take a seat in the waiting room and they would let him know when he could be with her. He sat there and twiddled his thumbs for what felt like decades before a doctor finally came to see him. He took a seat next to him and told him the news. "I'm sorry to have to tell you this Mr. Harrison but your wife has had a miscarriage." He said. Caleb was in shock. He didn't really know what to say so he just lowered his head in his hands. The doctor continued. "These things happen for a reason. The baby was probably not developing correctly and her body rejected it and took care of it naturally. She is still unconscious but if you want you may sit with her until she wakens." Caleb looked at the doctor and said thank you before standing up and walking down the hall to room 145 where his wife was.

When he walked in the room he saw that she was hooked up to the IV and a monitor to watch her pulse and such. Everything just looked like it came out of a movie or a dream and this really wasn't happening. Caleb tried to pinch himself a few times but everything stayed the same and thats when he know this was no dream. This was really happening to them. He sat in the chair next to Emily and grabbed her hand. He looked at her again and burst into tears. How was he going to tell her that the baby that had come into their lives, the baby that they both wanted so bad, was gone just as quickly as it had come. He cried for 5 minutes before she felt her hand move and her whole body turned restlessly towards him. Oh no she is waking up, he thought to himself. Now I have to tell her. Emily made a groaning noise and opened her eyes and looked around. Her eyes locked on Caleb when she saw him. "Caleb what happened?" She asked "Is everything ok?" Her voice sounded more panicked as the events of the night returned to her head. "Oh Emily hunny I'm so so sorry this has happened." He said. "What happened?" She begged in tears. "Is the baby ok?" She asked trembling. "Oh hunny no the baby is gone. The doctor says you had something called a miscarriage." He said tears running down his face again. Emily looked up at the ceiling and then broke down in tears. She tried to talk in between sobs but Caleb couldnt make anything out. He just sat there and tried to help her but nothing he did seemed to help.

They spent 5 hours in the ER before the doctors sent them home. They told Emily to follow up with Dr. Brown the next day so he knew what had happened. They also said that in about 4 weeks they could probably get set up for another round of the IVF. Another round, Caleb thought to himself. How are we going to afford another round of that thing. We couldnt even afford the first one. Emily didn't say much at all. She was still in shock of it all. When they arrived home it was 1am and they were both very tired. Caleb helped Emily into her pajamas and then into bed where she feel asleep almost immediately. Caleb went back downstairs to clean up what had been left out from dinner. "Wow she was doing all of this for me." He said out loud as he threw away the already spoiled chicken. After cleaning up he was going to go to bed when he saw that there was light coming from the office. He went inside and saw the screen was pulled up to the forum that Emily talked on. He sat down in the chair and took a moment to browse around. He saw a post labeled "WARNING: Fake doctor could be in your area" Caleb was curious as the post time was right before he had arrived home and he didn't think Emily had seen it. He clicked on the post and it opened up on the screen. As he read on the poster had said she was from the Great Lakes area and had been seeing a doctor by the name of John Jones who also was known by a few other aliases one of which was Dr. John Brown. Caleb couldnt believe his eyes. Brown was a common name but could this just be the same Dr. Brown they had been seeing. The post went on to say that he had told this couple that within the first few months of his treatment they would become pregnant and sure enough they did conceive with his help. Only to find out after their twins were a year old that this doctor had used his own sperm instead of the womans husbands to save money and rip people off. Caleb scrolled down and included was a picture of the doctor holding this womans twin boys and sure enough this was the very same doctor that Emily and him had been seeing.

Caleb was so disturbed and enraged he turned off the computer without even fully shutting it down. He had half a mind to call this man up right now and give him a piece of his mind. Instead he thought better to go and fall asleep next to his wife who he had missed dearly for the past 2 weeks. He vowed that he would not tell Emily of his discovery and he would hope and pray that she wouldn't look at the post on the message board. He would just have to keep her busy these next few days so she didn't see it. It was nothing she needed to concern herself with right away. He also vowed that he would take time in the morning to call the local sheriffs department and tell them what was going on and that this man was at large again and scamming innocent people such as himself and Emily.

Chapter 8

The next day seemed to drag on for Caleb and Emily. Emily stayed in bed most of the day sleeping on and off. A few times Caleb went to check on her and she seemed to be just staring off into space. He wasn't really sure what the process was after having a miscarriage but he figured she just needed time to get over this. He tried to sit down and talk to her but she just pushed him away. If anything he was just happy she didn't want to get out of bed and jump on the computer. Caleb thought about blocking the site and maybe password protecting it but he thought twice after realizing that it would seem like she was in prison or something of that nature. If she ever found out she wouldn't be happy with him and it was a fight he wanted to avoid.

Caleb took the rest of the week off from work to stay home and make sure Emily was alright. He also wanted to make sure he had the time to take care of this Dr. Brown thing. He had half a mind to give the guy a call and ask him what the heck did he think he was doing using poor innocent women like that just to make a buck. He knew better than that though and he figured if he just called up the local police and see what they had to say about it. So he didnt waste any time. He made sure Emily was asleep before taking his cell phone outside to make the call. Emily was smart and right now he didn't want any record of there phone conversation. Not that it was anything bad he just wanted to wait until the time was right to tell her about everything. "Hello Greenville police, how may I direct your call?" Asked a woman on the other line. "Yes Id like to speak to someone who can help me with a possible fraud issue." Caleb said. "Ill transfer you to a detective. One moment please." Caleb waited on the line for 5 minutes listening to that horrible elevator music before someone finally answered. "Hello, Detective Stevens speaking." The man said. "Hi my name is Caleb Harrison. My wife Emily and I have been seeing a man by the name of Dr. Brown at the IVF institute about an hour away from here and I have recently come to some interesting information about him. Such as he is going by an alias and that he has been impregnating women with his own sperm and making money off of it." Caleb explained. "Oh wow Mr. Harrison, can you tell me how you came across this information?" The detective asked. "To be honest I was doing some reading on a message board online where it showed of a lady who found out her twins were in fact not her husbands biological children. I know the internet can say a lot of things that are not true but this seemed very legit. If you would like I can give you the web site to the exact URL link so you can see the post yourself?" Caleb asked. "Thank you very much Mr. Harrison I would appreciate that. We take this sort of thing very seriously and we want to make sure that this man is behind bars if what you say is true." Said detective Stevens. Caleb and the detective spoke a few more words before they ended the conversation. Caleb sat on the front porch for a while thinking. He didn't know what he was going to do now. Emily wanted a baby so badly and he wanted to give her one no matter what. He made a vow right there and then to work as many hours as he could so in a months time they could find another fertility specialist and start the IVF process all over again.

Caleb was so busy thinking to himself he didn't hear Emily come out onto the porch until she was sitting next to him. "Hunny what are you doing out of bed?" He asked. "Oh I couldnt sleep anymore and I'm starting to get a little hungry." Caleb looked at his watch and noticed that it was almost 5pm. "well I guess we could order a pizza or something, I know you don't feel up to cooking." He said grabbing her hand and giving it a kiss. "Sure I guess that sounds good." She said in a tired voice. Caleb could see that she was really forcing a smile. "Caleb?" She asked. "Yes dear?" "Do you want to try the IVF again?" She asked. He took a second to think about it. He hoped that she wouldn't push to go back to Dr. Brown. "Yes Emily, I do want to give it another shot and I think we will be able to find the money to do it." He said. She gave him a smile and he could tell for the first time all day that she was starting to feel happy again.

Chapter 9

Life went on as normally as It could for Caleb and Emily. Caleb went back to the hospital for work and Emily continued to stay home. She took a little medical leave from her work so she could recover from loosing the baby. As far as Dr. Brown went Caleb didn't think that Emily had any idea what was going on until one day when Caleb forgot his cell phone at home. Emily had just gotten out of the shower when she heard his phone ring. She walked over to the night stand and looked at the caller ID. It was a local number so she answered it.

"Hello." She said

"Hello this is detective Stevens with the Michigan police department, Is Caleb Harrison available?" The man asked.

"Um no he is at work, he forgot his phone, can I take a message for him?" Emily asked.

"Sure can you just please tell him to give me a call back, this is regarding the Dr. Brown case." Mr. Stevens said.

"Ok, Um I'm not sure if I know whats going on but what do my husband and doctor have to do with a case your working on?" Emily asked getting rather upset that there was something going on behind her back.

"I'm sorry ma'am I'm unable to tell you thank information. All I can tell you is that Dr. Brown is being investigated by us and by a few other police departments in the U.S for fraud.

"Wow, um ok well I will have Caleb give you a call as soon as he gets home." Emily said hanging up the phone.

She sat down on the bed turning the phone over and over in her hands. How on earth did Caleb have anything to do with this whole thing, and how could that nice man who helped her conceive their child be mixed up in a fraud investigation. She thought about going down to the hospital and demanding some answers out of Caleb. She looked at the time. 10:47am, Caleb would be going on lunch in a few hours so she thought she would pick up some food on the way there and have a nice talk with her husband.

"Emily what are you doing here?" Caleb asked as he was just coming out of surgery.

"I thought we could have lunch together." She said holding up the Mc Donald's bags.
 
They went down the hall to the cafeteria and sat down. They started eating their food and didn't really say much to each other until Emily finally got the nerve to bring up her phone conversation with detective Stevens.

"So do you mind telling me what is going on, and why you have detectives calling your phone about some fraud case with Dr. Brown?" She asked trying to not sound mad.

"Oh Emily I don't want to have to talk about his here, cant it wait until I get home?" He asked

"No it cant wait Caleb, I want to know what is going on and why you have kept whatever this is a secret from me?" She said loud enough to make a few heads turn and look at them.

"Shhhh, hun please don't make a scene here, I will tell you ok?" He pleaded

"Ok." She said in a more quieter tone.

"The night we came home from the hospital I got online to look into other ways for us to have a baby because the IVF is just so expensive. So as I was looking I opened up the forum that you have been on lately and found a post saying that there may be a fake doctor in our area. I was curious so I opened up the thread and read what it had to say. A woman just a state over from us gave birth to twins and when they started looking less and less like them she had them DNA tested and found out that her husband was not the father of her children." He paused for a minute and Emily stared at him blankly so he continued

"So I kept reading and at the bottom of the post there was a picture and a few other names that this so called doctor was going by and sure enough there was Dr. Brown staring me in the face. I didn't want to tell you right away, after loosing the baby I didn't want to upset you any more. I'm sorry for you finding out like this but I just wanted to make sure the time was right to tell you." Caleb said.

Emily still looked at him and didn't say a word. She was trying with all her might to hold back the tears. Caleb grabbed her hands and gave them a kiss.

"Hunny are you going to be ok?" He asked

"Yeah Ill be fine, this is just all a lot to take in. She said. "So do you think that he did that to us?"

Caleb put his head in his hands and took a deep sigh.

"He very well could have, thats why I'm trying to work with detective Stevens to put him behind bars so he cant ever do this to anyone again. In the mean time I talked to a few colleagues today and got the number of a new doctor for us to go see. That is if you still want to continue this IVF thing?" He asked

"Yeah of course, well unless you don't want to?"

"Oh you know I do hun. So how about we finish lunch up here, Ill get you those numbers and you can give them a call whenever you are ready to. He said.

They finished up lunch and Caleb kissed her goodbye before grabbing some charts and walking down the hall. She looked at the little piece of paper and read the names and numbers to herself. She stood there looking around the hospital for a few moments before walking outside. Once she was out of the hospital she took her cell out of her purse and dialed a number on the piece of paper Caleb gave her. A receptionist picked up "Hello yes my name is Emily Harrison and Id like to set up an appointment please."

Chapter 10

As much as Emily loves her husband she didn't want Caleb to know she made the appointment to see the new doctor. She wasn't sure why she didn't want him to know right away she just didn't feel like Caleb really wanted to try again for another baby. At least not as soon as she wanted to. There was something telling her he wasn't ok with it. So the day of her appointment almost a month later she let Caleb go off to work as usual without a care in the world. 9am rolled around and Emily got herself dressed and ready to go. As far as she knew this was just going to be a check up to make sure she was ok after the miscarriage to start another round of IVF. She got to the office and looked around. She couldnt believe how beautiful it looked. It was by far a lot nicer than Dr. Browns office. It gave her kind of a homey feeling rather than a harsh hospital feeling. After sitting in the waiting room watching some episode of Dr. Phil for some time Emily was called back to a room. After checking her weight and vitals the nurse said that the doctor would be in with her shortly. Emily looked around the room and thoughts of her miscarriage and her first IVF treatment ran through her head. She felt sick to her stomach and thought about running out of the office and never looking back. That thought was interrupted when the door opened and an older woman walked into the room.
"Hello Emily, I'm Dr. Hayes." She said shaking Emily's hand.
For some reason seeing that this doctor was a woman every fear in her mind went way.
"Hello." Emily said. "Ok well lets get started here, now it says here you just suffered from a miscarriage." The doctor said.
"Yes, that was our first try at the IVF." Emily said.
"Well its good that there was no d&c required and that your body took care of it naturally. Now it says here you have PCOS and with that I'm assuming you don't ovulate?" Dr. Hayes asked.
"Yes thats true." Emily said.
"Ok well then we will get you set up with a round of Clomid and see you and your husband back here in about 2 weeks for the egg retrieval." The doctor said.
She wrote out Emily a prescription and told her how and when to take it. After about 15 minutes of questions and answers and getting to know each other a bit she told Emily to go to the front desk and make her appointment for the egg retrieval.

On her way home from the doctors Emily drove by Dr. Browns office. She knew it was coming up and she knew she could take a different way home but she felt pulled to drive by. The next thing she knew she was sitting in the parking lot staring at the door. She didn't know why but she wanted to walk in there and tell every woman she could to get the heck out of there for their own good. Instead she sat there with tears running down her face. She put the car in drive and got out of there as fast as she could. She had an idea in her head and she didn't want to loose it.

As soon as Emily got home she threw her purse on the kitchen table and went straight to her computer. She did all the research she could on the so called "Dr. Brown". She was amazed to see that he was wanted in 9 different states across the U.S. She also found a few different websites in Michigan where there were recommending him as one of the best fertility specialists around. She sent them all an email telling them about her findings and giving them detective Stevens number if they had any other information about him that might be incriminating. She was going to do all she could to stop this man. She got on her forum as well and put up a post: "Attention anyone in the Great Lakes area: My name is Emily Harrison and I have been very hurt by a man I thought was a great doctor. He goes by the name of Dr. John Brown here but he has been known to have a few different aliases. He is also wanted in 9 different states in the U.S. I want to do all I can to put this man away for good and stop him from hurting anyone else. First of all I want to start some sort of petition or way of letting ladies know not to go to his office. Please pass this along to any woman you know. The more people who know about this man the better chance we have stopping him from hurting someone else." She posted it and almost instantly had her first reply. It was from the lady who posted the first post about him that Caleb had found. She told Emily that she was also working on a petition in her area and wanted Emily's name to be on it. She also wanted to meet with Emily to discuss other options of getting people away from his office. They set up a time for Molly to fly to Michigan and spend a week there. She wanted to come as soon as possible so she asked Emily if the following week would be ok and Emily agreed. After talking back and forth online for most of the day Caleb came home and Emily said goodbye to Molly.

Caleb and Emily cooked dinner together and sat down to eat. Emily decided to come clean to Caleb about what she had done that day.
"I had an appointment with one of the doctors you found for me." Emily said
"Oh really, why didn't you tell me I could have taken the day off." Caleb said not sounding upset at all
"It wasn't anything important just got to met Dr. Hayes and she gave me another prescription for the Clomid and then in 2 weeks we will go back for the egg retrieval and then on to another few weeks of playing the waiting game." She said pushing some food around on her plate. Caleb could tell she was thinking about something.
"Are you ok Emily? You don't seem to be in a very good mood today." He said
"Yeah I'm fine I just... well... on the way home I drove by Dr. Browns office." Caleb looked at her like he was about to blow up and she continued. "I didn't go in or anything I just sat there looking at the door wanting to go tell every woman that was in his office to get out and to never go back there." She said
"Oh Emily don't worry in time they will arrest him. I talked to the detective today and he said they are very close to narrowing in on getting him there are just a few more details they have to get first." Caleb said.
"Well thats great, but umm I wanted to let you know I talked to someone online today from that forum, the lady who posted the thread that you read about him. Her name is Molly and she is very nice and she wants to work with us in getting him put away so she is going to fly up here next week and we are going to work on the petition I started today and possibly some other ideas to put him in jail faster, or maybe just ways to get the word out." She said.
"Well I guess that might be a good idea but are you sure you are up for this? Do you really want to take the chance of something happening to you? Because I don't. I want to make sure you are safe Emily. Especially in a few weeks, you never know you could be carrying our baby." Caleb said.
Emily could tell he was upset but she didn't care. He didn't understand what had happened to her. She wanted to make sure nothing happened to anyone else. They ate the rest of their meal in silence.

Chapter 11

The next week seemed to drag on for Emily. She worked every day and did what she needed to do so she could get on her forum and see if anyone else had any new news about Dr. Brown. Of course there was nothing other than the random post that someone would pass on the information to everyone they knew. Finally it was Friday and that was the day that Molly was flying in to meet with Emily. Emily woke up and saw Caleb off to work before getting herself all dressed up to go pick Molly up from the airport. During the drive over there Emily was a mess. She didn’t really know what to make of meeting this woman. Yes they had talked over the phone about twenty times during the past week but meeting her in person was going to be totally different. Emily got to the airport before Molly's flight got in so she looked through the gift shop for something nice to give her. She found a cute teddy bear and bought it for her. She sat down in some chairs and waited for what seemed like an eternity before she saw people coming in through the long corridor. Finally a tall woman with red hair and freckles walked up to her. "Hi I’m Molly." She said. "Hi Molly." Emily said pulling her in for a hug. She handed her the teddy bear. "For you, for going through all the trouble to come all the way out here." She said. They chit chatted for a few minutes before going to collect Molly’s bags.

"So where do you want to go?" Emily asked. "There are a few fun things to do in this town, some nice shops and deli’s if your hungry."
"Well first things first, I need to make some hotel arrangements." Molly said.
"Oh there’s no need for that you can stay with us, we have an extra bedroom that’s pretty much empty." Emily said
"Are you sure? I don’t want to put you and your husband out or anything." She said.
"Of course not, we would be more than happy to have you for the week." Emily smiled.
"Well then you talked me into it. Let’s go see your house." Molly Smiled back.
Emily Really liked her. The whole way home they talked about all kinds of things. What they did for a living.

When they got to Emily’s house she helped Molly with her bags and took her to show her the spare room where she would be staying. A few days before Emily made Caleb run out and buy an extra bed for the room and some things to really make it feel like home for Molly. Emily let Molly settle in and get situated while she went to the kitchen to make them some lunch. Molly appeared in the kitchen about 10 minutes later.
“I love your house Emily. Its beautiful and the room is more than perfect.” Molly said.
“Thanks, Caleb and I took great pride in making this house a home. Ready for some lunch?” Emily asked.
They sat down and ate their lunch talking about this and that and really trying to get to know each other.
While they were eating the phone rang and Emily excused herself to answer it.

“Mrs. Harrison this is detective Stevens I wanted to let you know that we have the information needed to arrest Dr. Brown.” The man said.
“Oh that’s great, when do you think you are going to go get him?” She asked.
“I will be leaving here shortly, I just thought that I would let you and your husband know so you didn’t feel like you have to worry about him anymore. He will be going away for a very long time.”
He said.
They hung up the phone and Emily walked back into the kitchen.
“How do you feel about taking another drive really quick?” She asked Molly.

Chapter 12

When Emily and Molly pulled into the parking lot of Dr. Brown’s office they were surprised to see a picket line of people outside the office with signs and posters doing anything they could to draw attention to the office. There were police cars with lights flashing and cops running around frantically trying to make some sort of order with everything going on. Emily wished she wouldn’t have come here, she wished she would have just stayed home and enjoyed the time she had with Molly even if they didn’t need to do anything to get Dr. Brown arrested.

Emily and Molly got out of the car and walked over to the group of people crowding around the door. They pushed their way to the front just in time to watch detective Stevens and 2 other officers escorting Dr. Brown and his office workers to the police cars. Emily noticed when Dr. Brown looked up and their eyes met. She knew he blamed her for this. It wasn’t until that moment that she felt scared. Not only for herself but for Caleb and Molly, and any possible children either one of them would ever have.

The whole way home neither of them spoke a word. Molly knew how Emily was feeling and she felt the same way.

When they got home Emily was surprised to see that Caleb was home from work already.
“Where were you?” He asked barely giving her 2 minutes to walk through the door. He blushed when he saw Molly follow behind her. He had forgotten that she was coming this week.
“I got a call from detective Stevens today, they arrested Dr. Brown I went to be there at the office when they arrested him, and I don’t want to hear you get upset about it either, I needed to be there Caleb.” She said not looking him in the eyes. She loved him very much but she knew that he wouldn’t understand why she had to do it. To her surprise he didn’t fight with her but wrapped his arms around her for a big hug. She felt safe in his arms.

The week went by fast for Emily and Molly and soon it was Saturday night and they were saying goodbye at the airport. They promised to keep in touch by phone and email and Emily watched Molly’s figure become nothing as she walked into the terminal to board her plane. She walked back over to Caleb who was reading a magazine trying to give them some privacy. He wasn’t the type to complain but a whole week with 2 women was more than enough for him and he was happy that they were going to get the chance to be alone again.

Before Emily knew it 2 months had passed and Dr. Brown and everything that had happened seemed to be a huge blur to Caleb and Emily. Before they knew it they found themselves in Dr. Hayes office one more time but this visit was not what they expected.

They were not escorted to an exam room but back to Dr. Hayes office where they sat down in some chairs facing her desk. They waited as the nurse brought in Emily’s files and then she began to speak.
“Caleb, Emily…. Well before we were to start this next round of treatment for Emily we always run a full blood panel.” She said.
Emily looked at Caleb scared. She just knew there was going to be bad news. Something didn’t feel right in her body she knew something was wrong. Dr Hayes could see the fear in Emily’s eyes so she continued.
“Emily your HCG levels came back very high. Emily you’re pregnant.” Dr. Hayes said.
Emily couldn’t believe her ears. She was surprised because she had gotten a negative pregnancy test at home and didn’t really think she was pregnant. Caleb hugged her tighter than he had in a long time.
“Congratulations you two, now let’s get at time set up for your next appointment and I will write you a prescription for some prenatal vitamins and then we will go over into the next room and get a look at that baby.” Dr. Hayes said.

Emily was so excited and in shock she didn’t remember much of the rest of the appointment until the ultrasound when she saw something happen to Dr. Hayes eyes as she re-scanned a spot more than once. Emily was starting to worry and Caleb couldn’t see the screen where he was sitting. Finally after a lot of careful concentration Dr. Hayes turned to them with a huge smile on her face.
“Emily do you remember me telling you the risk of multiples with IVF?”
Emily nodded her head, she couldn’t believe it. They were having TWINS!!
“Well Emily…. Caleb….” She said turning the screen towards them. She used her finger as she pointed to the screen and counted out loud to them.
“One, two, three and four.” She said. “You’re having quadruplets.”

Chapter 13

With the news of how many babies that were on the way Caleb and Emily decided they had a lot of work to do and they didn’t want to waste any time doing it. On the way home from the doctors they decided to stop at Babies R Us and get working on a registry and get the furniture and things they wanted for the nursery on layaway. Emily was scared that they would loose the babies again so she didn’t want to bring anything home just yet. They walked around the store for hours scanning things onto their registry and deciding what would be the very best for their babies. Emily wasn’t going to settle for just anything, for them everything had to be special and perfect. They had decided right away they didn’t want to know the sex of the babies, this was a very special surprise and they didn’t want to ruin that feeling by knowing if the babies were boys or girls. After searching for hours Emily finally found the nursery set she loved and had to have, regardless of price. They put 4 of everything on layaway. Emily was sad to leave the store empty handed so Caleb said they had one more stop to make. When they pulled into the home improvement store Emily looked at Caleb confused.
“What are we going here for?” she asked.
He just smiled and told her that she would see. They walked straight over to the paint and wallpaper section of the store and Caleb saw Emily’s face light up. She knew what they were here for. Emily and Caleb looked at paint chip after paint chip until finally deciding on the perfect color for their babies room. This time they got to leave the store with everything in hand to get working on the nursery. Caleb promised Emily that he would get working on it right away but only on one condition. When they got home Emily was not allowed to see the room until he said so. He had picked something up while she was in the restroom of the store and he wanted to surprise her. After arguing the whole way home about it she finally gave in and decided to read a good book while he worked.

Time flew by fast and in no time Emily noticed how tight her pants and shirts were starting to look on her. She couldn’t even fit into her favorite outfit anymore and was just about forced to wear sweats all day long. One weekend Emily got a surprise visit from someone special. Molly flew in for the weekend and decided that they needed to do some major maternity clothes shopping. Morning sickness was affecting Emily horribly even though she was only 11 weeks pregnant. Molly suggested picking up some Preggie Pops for her to suck on when she was feeling sick. They spent about 2 hours in Motherhood Maternity picking out everything Emily would need for a long winter of being pregnant. 4 pairs of pants, 8 shirts, 2 pj sets, some bra’s and panties later their shopping trip was complete. After a quick stop at Subway and Blockbuster they were on their way home to spend the night watching a few sappy romance movies and eating popcorn all night.

4 weeks later at only 15 weeks pregnant Emily felt HUGE. Even though her belly felt swollen beyond belief she was relieved to actually have that belly. She was reading all the books about pregnancy and multiples that she could. She read that she was going to be showing a lot earlier than she would if she was only having a singleton and all of the hormones and pregnancy symptoms would be worse for her because she was having quads. She also read that because she was having so many babies at once that her body wouldn’t be able to handle it as well if she was only having one baby. There were all sorts of risks and she could even go into premature labor. Emily wasn’t going to let that happen. Even if she had to stay in bed all day long she was going to keep these babies inside her as long as she could.

Chapter 14

With now being 6 months pregnant Emily and Caleb decided it was time to have the furniture for the babies room delivered. Emily was feeling so tired lately, she could barely move much now a days and she was getting so big that doing everyday things became a big obstacle for her. The doctor said for right now she could still stay at home but if she didn’t take it easy she would soon find herself on complete bed rest in the hospital. Saturday morning Caleb set Emily up in bed with everything she needed while he took the car to Babies R Us to pick everything up. Caleb felt awkward going to a baby store by himself and when the lady at the counter was ringing him up for everything she looked at him like he was crazy for needing 4 of everything. He had found it hard to tell people who didn’t know them that they were having quads. Now trying to put 4 crib boxes, 4 changing tables, and 4 of a few other things in their tiny car proved to be a big challenge. Caleb finally decided on paying for them to deliver it all the next day. He took home the smaller things like the bouncers, high chairs, and swings. When he got home he moved Emily to the living room couch and they put everything together.

The next day the truck dropped off the furniture while Emily was still sleeping. She had been up the previous night with heartburn and Braxton hicks contractions. Caleb let her sleep as late as she needed to while he worked hard trying to figure out the directions to set up the cribs. It took him almost 2 hours to set up everything and that’s when he realized something. There was no way they were going to fit 4 babies in that room. There was barely any room to walk around let alone put ALL the furniture up. Emily still wanted to get some rockers and a few other things to make the room complete. That made Caleb thing about the rest of the house, their kitchen was very small and there was no way they could fit a bigger table and 2 more chairs in the tiny dining area. All in all this house was just way too small.

Over the next few days Caleb spoke to some real-estate agents and after talking to Emily about it they decided to put the house up for sale and try to find a new one that would better suit their soon to be big family. Emily insisted on going to look at the houses even though Caleb said no. She said there was no way they were going to pick out a new house and she wasn’t going to get any say in it. On Thursday Caleb took a half day off work to go look at a house a few blocks away from the hospital in a nice subdivision. Caleb helped Emily out of the car and as they started walking up the walk way to the house Emily doubled over in pain screaming.

Chapter 15

Emily didn’t remember much, everything pretty much happened so fast she didn’t have time to think. One second she was on the cool pavement the next there were flashing lights and sirens and she was being put in the back of an ambulance in excruciating pain. There were EMT’s all around her hooking up wires and oxygen to her. The ride to the hospital was short since they were so close. They moved Emily straight up to the Labor and Delivery floor. Caleb had to take the car so he wasn’t there yet. They put her in a rather large room that was obviously used for the actual delivery part of labor. Emily began to freak out, she wasn’t in labor she couldn’t be she still had 3 more months to go. It was way too early for the babies to be born. Once again Emily was surrounded by doctors and nurses talking and ordering things to be done. They started and IV of something called Magnesium Sulfate which made Emily feel sick to her stomach but after a little while her contractions went away. Caleb came into the room and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
“Hey sweetie how are you feeling?” He asked
“Do you even have to ask? Look at me, I feel like crap and I kind of feel sick.” She said
“Well the doctor says that the medicine can do that to you and it’s totally normal.” Caleb said sitting down in a chair next to her.
“So what happened?” Emily asked.
“You were in premature labor, they gave you some medicine to stop the contractions and hopefully they will stay away but there is a chance they could start up again.”
Emily looked like she was about to cry. Caleb grabbed her hand and kissed it.
“Hunny this is really for the best but there is more.” He said “Because there is such a high risk that you could go into labor again the hospital wants to admit you until the babies are ready to be born. Hopefully that will be at least another 2 months but it could happen sooner and they want to make sure you’re here because they can stop it again if they catch it soon enough. At home things could happen too quickly and then they might not be able to stop it and who knows what could happen if they are born too soon.” He said
Emily sat there silently for a moment thinking things over before burring her head in her hands and sobbing loudly. Caleb wrapped his arms around her and tried to calm her down.

That night Caleb stopped back at home to pick up some of Emily’s clothes, her lap top, and some books and magazines for her to read. She was to be on complete bed rest which meant she was only allowed to get up to use the bathroom with a nurses help. She could also only take a 10 minute shower twice a week. Caleb promised that he would visit Emily as soon as he got to work in the mornings and then he would eat lunch with her and then spend as much time as he could with her after work. They would eat dinner together every night and then Caleb would go home and go to bed and do it all over again the next day.

Weeks went by and Caleb worked hard of trying to find a house. It was so hard to look at them without Emily but he took the camera and he would show her pictures to get an idea of what she thought of the house. It wasn’t looking good until a few weeks before Christmas. Caleb was doing what he could to make the house look nice for the holidays even if Emily couldn’t see it. That night as he was putting up the Christmas tree he got a call from the real-estate agent. He told Caleb there was a house that just went up for sale and he wanted him to be the first to see it first thing in the morning. Caleb got up early that morning to meet the agent at the house. It was a new construction house that was just finished being built. It was 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, a huge master bedroom. It had a big backyard with a pool. It would be the perfect house for them. The only thing was they had to paint and put in the carpeting and what not which was not a big issue for them at all. Caleb knew he could finish it in no time with a little help from family. Caleb took pictures for Emily to see and then he had to make a hard decision. There was no way the agent could keep the house from other people unless Caleb put down money on the house and signed the papers before he left to go see Emily.

Caleb decided to go for it, he knew Emily would love the house and he didn’t want to pass up the chance to have this house. While Caleb was signing the paperwork and making sure everything was set so they could start working on the house his phone rang.
“Hello” He said.
“Hello, Caleb?” a woman’s voice on the other line said.
“Yes who is this?” He asked.
“This is Karen I’m a nurse on the Labor and Delivery floor where your wife is, Im calling because your wife is being taken to the OR to be prepped for a cesarean section, her blood pressure is up very high and the babies are not responding well. You are aware she is only 7 ½ months pregnant and this means that there is a chance that the babies wont survive being outside of the womb but we figure this is the best thing for them because they have a better chance outside than inside.”
Caleb didn’t even say goodbye to her as he hung up the phone. He told the agent what was happening and the agent said he would finish up the paperwork for Caleb and he would call in a few days to let them know if everything went thought ok. Then he wished Caleb good luck as Caleb ran out the door and drove off as fast as he could.

Chapter 16

Caleb got to the hospital and once again his mind was in a blur. He knew the hospital like the back of his hand but he felt lost trying to get to the OR. He hoped he wasn’t too late and that he would get to be there when his children were born. He got to the nurses station and they handed him scrubs and a face mask and told him go scrub up and go on in, the procedure hadn’t started yet. When he got into the OR he felt out of place. Normally he was the doctor doing the operating but this time he was on the other end. He had to sit there and look at Emily’s face streaked with tears. All Caleb could see was her head as the rest of her body was hidden behind a blue curtain. He heard the doctor explain to Emily that she would feel some pressure and it would probably take about 2 minutes for each baby to be out. Each baby had a team of 4 nurses from the NICU that would asses them as soon as they were born and then they would be rushed down to NICU where they would stay to determine that everything was ok. Emily was told before hand that the babies are premature and would have to spend some time in NICU before they would get to come home.

In what seemed like a flash of light the room was hustling and bustling with the sounds of everything going on, one by one each baby was handed to a nurse and cleaned off the best they could. First born was Austin who was the biggest by 3lbs 6oz then came Logan at 3lbs 4oz then Jayson at 3lbs 3oz and last but not least our sweet baby girl Grace who was the smallest at 2lbs 8oz. The boys were doing great for how small they were. It was almost nice to hear them cry even if it did sound very sickly. Caleb could feel the tears well up in his eyes. The nurses brought over each baby so Emily and Caleb could see them before rushing them off to NICU. Well every baby accept little Gracie. She was not breathing so well and they couldn’t get her to cry. She had to be taken to NICU first so they could get her oxygen to help her breath.
“Hunny please go with her.” Emily cried.
“Are you sure babe I want to make sure your ok?” Caleb said stroking her hair.
“Ill be fine, I have to wait an hour or so before I can to down there and I want you with them.” Emily said.
Caleb gave her a kiss and followed the nurses down to NICU. He walked past each baby in NICU and was able to touch the boys and give them kisses. Then he got to Gracie’s little corner. She had all kinds of wires and what not hooked up to her. She looked so helpless. The nurse explained that all the babies were doing better than expected, they all needed help breathing and they were all jaundiced and needed light therapy. Little Gracie was by far the sickest of them all. She would need to gain a lot of weight before going home.

Back in recovery Emily was trying to do all she could to stay awake long enough for the epidural to wear off so she could go see the babies. Caleb brought her pictures of the babies. When Emily got to Gracie’s picture she started to cry.
“Oh Caleb I hope she is going to be ok.”

Chapter 17

After a week of staying in the hospital Emily was discharged and able to go home. She hated to leave without the babies but they were going to be in the hospital for a least a month or so longer. The boys were doing very well each gaining about 2 oz’s a day and the jaundice had pretty much was gone and they didn’t need to be under the lights anymore. Emily had spent almost every waking moment in the NICU and just the past 2 days she was able to hold the boys. Gracie on the other hand was still too sick. Emily and Caleb were able to hold her hands and stroke her face for the stimulation but she wasn’t ready to be held just yet.

The day Emily went home she went to say goodbye to the babies and give them kisses one last time for the day not only was she going home empty handed it was also Christmas Eve. She decided that she would come back in the morning with Caleb and stay for the majority of the day with them. Caleb took 2 weeks off of work to help me around the house and then when the babies came home he would take 2 more weeks off to help with them. What Emily didn’t know as Caleb had something very special up his sleeve for his new family. He took Emily home and got her all set up for the night with the TV remote and snacks so she didn’t have to get up. Emily was pumping breast milk for the babies to take in their tube feedings in hopes that it would help them get better quicker so she needed to eat small meals throughout the day and drink lots of water and milk. Once she was all settled he gave her a kiss goodbye and left to go work on his little surprise.

After 3 more weeks the boys were finally able to go home but Gracie was still not doing so well. She had gained weight but not quite enough to be able to go home, but the best news was Caleb and Emily were finally able to hold her and dress her up in the tiny little clothes Emily had bought her. Most of the newborn things were still way too big for the babies but the preemie stuff fits perfectly. The day the boys got to come home Caleb was finally ready to give them his surprise. He drove their new van that they decided to buy since the car was just not big enough for 4 car seats, a few blocks out of town in a nice rural country area and stopped in front of a very new looking house. Emily looked at Caleb but didn’t say anything. She was a bit confused but she figured she would keep her mouth shut and just go along with him. Caleb dug around his pockets and took out a single key and unlocked the door.
“Caleb…..” Emily said her voice trailing off not really knowing what she was going to say. She didn’t feel right going into someone else’s house but then again when she walked inside carrying Logan she just about fell to her knees. Hanging in the entryway across the banister was a huge sign that read “WELCOME HOME LOGAN, AUSTIN, JAYSON, AND GRACIE” Emily was speechless.
“I wanted to surprise you all on the day the babies came home, I wanted Gracie to see this but I just thought it couldn’t wait any longer. We didn’t have enough room to bring the boys home to our old house today so I figured we could bring them home to our new house.” He said. “I’ve been painting and decorating everything as much as I could without you.” He chuckled.
Emily still didn’t know what to say so she just gave him a kiss on the cheek and said “Thank you.”

Caleb gave Emily the tour of the rest of the house but saved the best for last. They stopped outside of a closed white door and Caleb told Emily to close her eyes. She did as she was told and Caleb opened the door and lead her inside the room. He told her to open his eyes. When she did she looked around and felt like she was in a baby wonderland. The room was huge and it was perfect, just the way she had envisioned it to be when she was pregnant. They put the babies in the cribs and looked down in on them. Everything was perfect. Well just about everything.

Chapter 18[/B][/U]

Over the next few weeks Emily and Caleb had their hands full with the 3 boys. Even at a month old they were such a handful for the 2 of them. Molly had taken a week off work to come by and give them a hand. Everyone worked in shifts and everyone took a nap here and there when they could. They were trying to get the babies all sleeping at the same time but it wasn’t working out too well.

One very cold and dreary day while all the mayhem was going on in the Harrison household the phone was ringing as it usually does but no one was able to answer it. The machine picked up and after the beep this message was left. “Mr. or Mrs. Harrison this is Nurse Sarah one of your daughters attending nurses. She is going into surgery right now please give us a call…….”
“Hello, Hello” Emily said frantically trying to hand Jayson to Caleb who already had Logan and Austin in his hands.
“Hello is this Emily?” The nurse asked.
“Yes this is what’s wrong with Gracie?” Emily asked with tears in her eyes.
“They are taking her in to surgery right now. Our fears of a brain bleed have been confirmed by MRI and we are afraid it’s a grade 3 bleed, the worst of all. She will need surgery right away. We don’t know what her outcome will be. We thought you should know so you could get here as soon as possible.” The nurse said.
Emily assured her that they would be right there and hung up the phone. She didn’t have time to cry. She had to call her mom and get her over to the house to watch the boys. She had to make sure her mom could handle it and then they had to hit the road.

Once they got to the hospital Gracie was already in surgery. The nurse told them they would have to wait in the waiting room and a doctor would be out soon with an update. The wait seemed like it took forever even thought it was only 2 hours. Finally a doctor they had never met before came out. He was a younger man, tall with dark hair. He shook Caleb and Emily’s hands before motioning for them to sit down so they could talk.
“We have just finished the surgery; it went better than to be expected. Grace did well but the real challenge will be these next few days. The first 46 hours are critical. She may also have some sort of brain damage but we really won’t know until she is older. It will mostly be delayed motor skills, she might not walk when the boys do or she may not talk right away. We won’t know the extent of the damage for some time.” The doctor was very nice and said that Caleb and Emily could wait in Gracie’s recovery room while they finished up in the OR.

Chapter 19

It took almost 3 weeks after the surgery for Gracie to be well enough to go home. Caleb and Emily were elated but yet again scared for what was ahead of them. They were already having a hard time with 3 babies at home but once they added Gracie to the bunch it would be harder. Emily knew she wasn’t going to sleep at all the night she came home. They picked her up from the hospital on a Saturday afternoon. There was a fresh coat of snow covering the ground. Emily made a mental note to tell Caleb to drive slowly going home. Once again Emily’s mom stayed with the boys while they drove up to the hospital. They got to Gracie’s room and walked right up to her crib. She was in a normal crib now because she was well enough to go home and she didn’t need to be in the incubator. Emily picked her up right away and gave her a big hug and kiss. She grabbed the diaper bag and immediately changed her into her going home outfit. The nurse came in and had them sign the paperwork for her to be discharged and take out her IV’s. Emily couldn’t believe that her babies were already 10 weeks old and she was just now getting to bring Gracie home. That night she didn’t sleep a wink. She sat in a chair watching her babies sleep. She finally had the family she had dreamed about.

Time seemed to fly by for the Harrisons and before they knew it the babies were celebrating their first birthday. Everyone they knew made it for the occasion even Molly and her family. Her boys loved playing with the quads. They had a good time at the party. Despite everything the doctors have said about Gracie not being able to do the things her brothers can do she has shown many signs of that not being true. Gracie was the first one to take her first steps at only 11 months old while the boys were still crawling around. She is also showing some signs of understanding things Caleb and Emily say.

The doctors say there is no way to explain why Gracie is doing so well. Through all of their studies and what has happened to other children in the past with her extensive brain bleed they are all in one way shape or form handicapped in some way. Caleb and Emily know how to explain it though. Just like the miracle of being blessed with 4 beautiful babies when they didn’t have a hope in the world to have a family, Gracie is nothing short of their Little Miracle.
