Title: Proposals crash my game
Post by: hope2476 on May 31, 2007, 05:06:12 pm
I have read thru all 11 pages here and all the pages on MTS2.
My game runs fine until my sims want to propose to get engaged. :smt120
at which time, the sims sound starts stuttering like a broken record.
i have to alt tab out of the game to find the box that gives the message" error the sims will terminate now" or something to that effect.
i do have inteen and insim...some of squinge's no autonomous stuff.
i did remove my downloads and saved sims folder, and was able to propose fine with no problems.
i have 3.45gb's of downloads, i know it's horrible.
i hve seen on here that it is possible for a mesh to cause some conflicts.
my actual question i guess is, how on earth do i figure out which mesh or whatever is doing this?

Edit: i removed my hacks folder and scanned my downloads no red things in the clean installer.
game still crashing.

It does sound like the likely culprit is a mesh.  I hope you have some kind of organization to your 3.45 GB of CC. :)

1.  Take your downloads folder out of the game and stick it on the desktop.
2.  Create a folder named Meshes or whatever on the Desktop.  As you test the meshes you'll put the ones that appear to be working okay in here.
3.  Create a new Downloads folder for the game. If you can create subfolders you can put the Meshes folder in the Downloads folder.
4.  Create a Retest folder on the Desktop.
5.  Open the Desktop Downloads and use the Windows Explorer Search function to search for mesh.  This will open another window with all the file names that have mesh in it.
6.  Take 1/2 of the mesh files and put them in the game's Download folder.
7.  Try the game, to include proposal.
7a. If everything worked right, these meshes are okay and you can put them in the Meshes folder.
7b. If you crash, you have a bad mesh in with that group.  Take 1/2 of those out and put them in the Retest folder.    Keep repeating step 7 until the game works right.
8.  Now take the other 1/2 and put them in the game's Download folder.
9.  Take the other 1/2 out of Desktop Downloads and repeat step 7.
10.  If you have some files in Retest, move them to Desktop Download.
11.  Repeat steps 6 through 10 until you have identified all the bad meshes.

Once you get down to 10 or 20 meshes, you may want to start putting a couple in at a time to check.

bless you! lol
and yeah i was starting to do that with all my downloads.
i had it narrowed down to my bodyshop items folder..
which luckily is divided between eyes..hair..skins..makeup..and clothes.
so yeah it prob is a clothing mesh..thank you!

Are you running the cinema with the proposals?  I had to turn off the cinema, or my sims wouldn't have kids! LOL

no i have all that lovely stuff shut off. the cinema the lil picture within the window thing....
i removed my whole clothing folder out of the downloads and the game is still freezing. i'm beginning to wonder if perhaps it is an accessory.
who knows if this doesn't work i guess i'll uninstall and reinstall. and just start over. which is crappy cuz i'm on my 4th generation into my legacy lol
