Title: The Official InSim Pet Photo Album!
Post by: masasaiyan on June 09, 2007, 05:11:18 am
But she seriously needs to learn how to hunt mice.

Last summer, while I was away at a convention, she caught her first ever mouse, killed it, and presented it to my Dad while he drank his morning coffee. What a good kitty. We all felt she was going to be an excellent mouser and that my Dad's old cat (yet excellent mouser,) could ,"retire."

This morning, she spotted a mouse in my bedroom. My bedroom! Now, normally, the critters don't bother me, but mice in the bedroom?! No way. My cat, Cecil, spotted it and was sitting on the bed, watching it with tail a-twitching. How it got there I don't know, but it was snuggled all nice and cozy between the wall and nightstand. There it sat on the wires, nibbling on a piece of dry kitty food that Cecil has, "hidden" all around the room. I slowly pulled the wire out. The mouse didn't run, but just sat there real still in a kinda of, "WTF" moment. When I got it out into the open, Cecil stalked up to it real slow. I expected her to pounce it, but instead she just...sniffed it. Then, she licked it, which made the mouse scurry away. She followed it until she lost it under a bookcase and more furniture. So, she got mad and stalked around until she just lost interest and sunbathed on the corner of the desk.

Much later on, I was laying in bed when I heard the squeaking. I saw the mouse dash back behind the nightstand from under my cedar chest. I quickly kicked the nightstand up against the wall with both feet, crushing the mouse. I moved the stand away slowly expecting to see squashed mouse or it running away, but it was laying on it's side, dead. I didn't mean to kill it, just trap it so she could have a chance, but oh well. I used a broom to get it out from behind the stand and wall:

Then, I swept it out so Cecil could inspect it. You can almost tell what she was thinking:

Hey...I know you.

I think I'll bat you about.

*Sniff* Aww...your no fun dead.

When she lost interest (she tends to do that quick,) and stretched out under the chair, I deposed of the mouse outside. I don't mind mice, but in the bedroom, NO WAY! Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about waking up to a dead mouse in my bed thanks to her. She brings me dead bugs and will leave them on the floor or on the bed.

So, who here is "owned," by cats?

I think brother Blue Gene back in Driftwood is.  He raises his to be outdoors to be mousers, but there are a couple I think he lets in and spoils to death.  He talks about them almost as much as he about his son. I've caught him making the funniest faces through the window at his veteran mouser.

I am "owned" by 5 gracious cats, who feel I should pay homage to them on a daily basis for said bestowed priviledge.
What can I say, is there anything more touching than when they come to give me their version of "kisses", little taps with thier soft noses, tiny taps with their silken paws, or gentle licks with their sandpapery tongues?
Each one has their own set of distinctive meows, and usually I understand the meaning behind each one.
And where on earth would we be, if they were much to aloof to allow us the joy of watching their "Cat Crazies"?
Ahhh, the comfort of having one of their soft bodies nestled next to me, the joy they show me from their eyes as I caress their soft fur, the satisfying purring that emanates from these tiny bodies, yep, life is sweet, if you're "owned" by cats.

She licked the mouse! ROFL! My cat Murphy (RIP) was an excellent mouser. I'm glad the two I have now haven't had an opportunity to find out if they had the right stuff. I'd rather not have mice in the house at all.

This little kitty probably thinks she owns me already. I have had her since Friday June 18th. She is being hand raised by me right now, her mama killed her two siblings so we took her from Sassy. Her name is Scooter and my husband finally said that I get to keep her. The dog in the background of one picture is my puppy Tuffie.

Scooter when we first brought her home.

Scooter on Tuesday two days after bringing her home.

Scooter today right after eating and being weighed, Tuffie is in the background. Tuffie loves Scooter a lot.

Do you like mice eating your food and pooping all over the shelves where you keep you food? I think mice are cute too, but when they become pests, it's war.

I loved my male cat Magoo dearly. He was a present from my dad on June 18, 1988. Sadly, my Goochers died of old age a couple weeks ago and I've been feeling kind of lost without him... Within two days of his death, Dad passed on, so it's been kind of hard, but I do have a ray of sunshine in my fat cat, Sue. Actually, she is my daughter's cat, but I hand raised her because she was born feral. I still have the scars of the taming! Sue is a gentle, gracious little soul who rules the house with an iron paw covered in the softest of velvet. She tells me when it's time to get up, eat, and go to bed. She also tries to tell me when the child needs a bath or fresh diaper, but I have a handle on that pretty much. She, too, is missing Magoo because he was there the whole time while she was growing up. Sue is thirteen years old, by the way, and shows really no signs of age yet, aside from the tendancy to hog most of the blankets on a cold winter night... Anyhow, Sue was never taught to be a mouser, she just somehow knew to do it on her own. She did teach Magoo, though, and the two of them together made one heck of a great team! Once I got them over the putting the stupid thing in my slippers, it was a fine thing... Lately, though, she's been bringing me injured mice, so I can kill them. So, do you think she's trying to turn me into a mouser?? And she will not tolerate a dog nose up her butt, swats that stupid beagle each and every time! You'd think the dog would get the hint, but her brain seems to be a bit more dense than granite! Yes, I am owned by a lovely cat, and love it a lot. Dogs are owned by men, humans are owned by felines. Just ask my brother, he shares his life with about 25 of them!

not necesarily, but i still would not kill them! My family owns a cabin in canada and we use this thing that you put on at night. Whenever it senses movement (like a mouse, for example) it make this little noise that is enough to scare the mice away w/o hurting them! We've been using for 4 years and no mice have dared to venture into the house again, and this was without hurting/killing them...:rabbit:

Sue just brought me a mouse today for my breakfast... Do you have any idea how upset she gets if I don't pretend to eat the little sucker?! Thank God I've gotten pretty deft with my hands, so when I pick it up with the tissue, I can just hold the thing near my mouth and act like I'm eating it and then throw the whole mess into the garbage... What can I say, she worries about my eating habits, obviously she thinks I'm in need of protien... eeeeeeeeeewwww!

Paden, I'm dying of laughter here. None of my 5 cats have ever even seen a mouse, so I'm really not sure what they'd do if they did. We had a rabbit for a while and the youngest, Squeak, started hopping like the rabbit.
I did have a cat for 17 years, a beautiful black and white majestic fellow. My Dad wanted him to come to his house for a few days to catch this mouse he had in his garage. No amount of my explaining that Morgan had never even seen a mouse before was sufficient for my Dad to just set a trap. So I dropped Morgan off for a few days. The end of the second day my Dad called, "Come get this stupid cat." That was the entire conversation, no hello, no goodbye, just that terse sentence. So off I go to pick up my beloved friend. It seems that afternoon, while they were both sitting in the garage the tiny mouse came out for a peek. Morgan was in dreamland, the mouse watched him carefully for several seconds, detecting no movement, the mouse bravely decided to further investigate this creature. He crept up to Morgan's paw, where upon Morgan opened his eyes, saw the little feller, and promptly closed his eyes and returned to basking in the sun. My poor father nearly had a stroke. He could not believe that a cat would pass up an opportunity for "fresh" mouse meat in favour of dried cat food. As I was putting Morgan into the car, my Dad remarked that if a cat couldn't "mouse", it was a worthless kind of cat. I in turn replied, I'm sure the thought of mouse breath grossed him out.

My cat is my friend. We have had her from she was 4 week old and now she is 17.
My daughter found her in the water by the beach and brought her home. I wasn`t even sure that this little kitty would survive, but she did.
Here she is

They are cute. I think Perdy looks like my Misse

I am such a cat person ... I make everyone sick the way I fawn over them, lol. Our cats have never been outdoor cats, though, we live in an area with lots of coyotes and wild animals and the like, and generally when someones cat gets outside you'll not see them ever again, so ours have never got the chance to catch mice.

But here's my baby Simba, who is 16 years old, and the only cat we have left now (he has one greenish yellow eye and one blue eye if you look closely):

And my dearly missed baby Buffalo, who passed on Thanksgiving night at the age of 16, this is an old picture:

This is the last picture I got of them together two weeks before Buffy passed, it was the only time I ever saw them lay together:

That last picture was actually published in a book. It's kind of a long story, heh.

Anyway, that's my Pelo. He's a very smart cat. He actually knows a few tricks! Hahaha. Seriously though, he can sit, stay, shake, lie down, and quite a few other things.  :D

EDIT: Oh, and as you can see in the second picture, my blinds are broken. That was all his doing! Haha.  :p
EDIT AGAIN: And, no...as far as I know, Pelo has never even seen a mouse, let alone ate one! Hah.

This is princess Sophie a seal-point ragdoll. We got her at an animal shelter last year when she was a tiny kitten.  Her kind are extremely expensive if you buy them at pet stores, but she was extremely cheap.  We were very lucky.  I love her, shes so cuddly and loving.  And of course our silver-tabby simon.

They are gorgeous, balletbaby. You were remarkably lucky to find a ragdoll in an animal shelter. We are going to buy one, but are waiting for the spring. It's going to cost 800 dollars to buy the cat, and we'll have to travel at least two hours to a breeder who has them!

Awww ty Naria! ;D.  Yes they are sisters (well in spirit) they each had familes of about 6 in the shelter but these two always played with each other.   Christmas was coming & people came, picked so fast & left--though some stayed to hold them & get to know them prior to picking. The siamese was so tiny and rarely left the side of her older brother (he had an "adopted" tag on him for the 2 weeks I visited her).  She'd always hide under him whenever people came in.  I was all mushy thinking aww who could separate her from him?

Of course I immediately picked her to adopt (as well as her natural tabby sis). As their connection was self-formed the first day I observed them I asked for them to be tagged immediately, going by the interactions I saw that first day & knowing that this tiny lil timid baby would soon lose her protective brother.

The hiding lil tabby leapt into my lap all on her own :D which surprised me and even the caretaker, lol.  Whenever the siamese ventured away from her brother these two played together, at first shyly, but regularly all on their own. None of the other 9 family members played with any other kitties other than their own familes (and there were quite a few other kitties), but tabby's five bro/sis' only played with each other while she (<--selected tabby hid in the litter box, yuk).  So it was really adorable to me that the shy siamese who wouldn't leave her brother and the (apparently ignored) shy tabby found each other across the nursery.   I had never realized how many baby kittens end up in a shelter before that.
Shy does not describe the Lil Feline Queens now, 1titter.  I really should have said I'm their pet human.  They soooo think they are in charge.2wait 1hmph

Typical cats, I suppose. They own us.  ;)

I always want to adopt every cat I see in a shelter. I'm terrible like that. One day I'm going to have a house full of cats because I'm such a sucker for them. As it is, my Dad won't let me get one from a shelter, so we're expecting a kitten from a small breeder of Himalayans. I can only hope the new one and our Simba will get along, although I don't think so. Simba is too independant and well, b****y. lol.

We used to have four cats all together, and none of them got along. It was amazing. You'd think at least one of them would be bound to like another ... but nope.

I used to always have pure breds.  These were my first shelter kitties.  Now I'll probablly never buy another purebred (not frowning on that btw :) ).  I would have liked to adopt the entire shelter I wanted them all.   Call me uninformed before my visit. I never knew unadopted pets at the humane society were euthanized (no flaming folks plz).  So now I try to find families for those when I can adult cats especially because kitties aren't that hard to place.

Growing up around only purebreds I think I naively believed that it'd be harder to tame/care for shelter animals.  Like I said I just didn't know better.  But oh I found heaven in those two.  I'm hoping to get a few more soon :).

All our cats before have come from shelters, this will be our first purebred. It was entirely my Dads idea, my Mom and I actually fell in love with 3 kittens at shelters and were told we couldn't get them.

lol I know how that is... I was so bad.  My dad always said no to animals in the house.  Cautionary tale told for enjoyment below~ kids DO NOT try this at home ;):

I wanted a kitty soooo badly!! Anyhoo I saved up money & went to a lady just a person who owned two show cats (one a champion) and bred them this once. It was like having dinner with the queen, she was so regal and proper and me in my tomboy climbing jeans & scruffy-t lol.   You could tell she was surprised I was so young doing this transaction on my own.

I gave her the adorable pouty face when she told me the price for her last kitty.  I offered her what I'd saved which she turn down uncomfortably chuckles 1titter*.    A few days later she called me back and sold her to me.  Pouty face and puppy-dog eyes won in the end.

Then I snuck her in the house and she lived in my room for like a month before my mom found out.  (My mom said "Oh boy...oK, but you are going to probably have to let her go when your dad finds out & "kept" my secret (inhindsight she most likely clued him in). So over like the next month I slowly assimilated her into the woodwork, lol.  First leaving my door open, then seeing if he had a fit when he saw her in my room you know...working on daddy.  Did I mention I'm the baby of the family?  That always helped ;D.

By the next year they were secret buddies fighting over his favorite highbacked armchair.  She finally agreed to give it up grudgingly when he was home—for a price.   He got the spot but she got to sit directly in front of him the entire time and give him the "You know I'm allowing you to sit in MY chair look"  whilst he was sitting in it. They were actually quite funny to watch over time both pretending not to like each other.  My much older sisters and brothers were like "WHATT!!!? Dad would have killed me if I did that!"

Yeah I agree, hehehe >:D.

Awww, cute story.  :D My Dad would kill me if I did that. I asked for a kitten for 10 years. I begged, cried, offered to pay for it myself (had a job at the time), got angry and said "I'm just going to go buy one anyway!" and it's taken this long, and I have to say I'm surprised he finally agreed to it. We have two golden retrievers and our 15 year old cat and that was quite enough animals for him. But I guess he said yes because he felt so bad when I lost my other cat on Thanksgiving.

It's not the way I wanted to get my kitten, out of pity, but hey ... whatever works?

Pouty face, puppy-dog eyes, pitiful stares, any combo= WIN hehehe 1rock

Eventually yes, if only so I'd stop begging.  ;) It was also supposed to be my Christmas present, but the ragdoll breeder we were attempting to make a deal with, I didn't trust her as far as I could throw her, so we backed out of that and it took a few months of futile searching for ragdolls, before I decided to heck with it, I'm going to get a Himalayan.

Awww. I wish our cat would try to feed me instead of giving me death glares until I feed him.  :p

Hi I'm Tommy, brat1083 is my people, my thing is to catch him in the recliner and sit on his lap. I then use the Hyonotic power of my purr to make him take a nap so I can get warm in his lap.

Well, there's a cat thread, but I haven't seen one for dog pictures. So ... show us your dogs! (And no, no pictures of hot dogs! Leave those for the spam thread  ;))

Here are my dogs, the psychotic Golden Retrievers, Kody (named after a Matchbox 20 song) and Budweiser (obviously named after beer):

Ours have enough space, they are just so overwhelmingly big. If the dog jumps on you, you are liable to be knocked over. lol. And if they lay on you, you are squished.  :p

I used to have a shetland sheepdog, she was my baby. Her name was Sassy. I haven't really liked dogs the same since her.

Here's a link to an album of "The Momma" and her puppies.  We ended up keeping Brie (ours) and Colby (my wife's parents'), but see Monte/Simon at shows (he got multiple reserve champion at Nationals, including Best-in-Show pup!).

I will have to post some new pics soon.  The pups are all growed up now...  And I have a self-sim-puppy of Brie I'll have to post.

Cujo looks cute and cuddly.

Yes he was, and when my parents weren't here at the house, he would come into my room and lay right next to me here at the pc. It sucks that we had to put him to sleep, but it was best for him since he was in so much pain at the time when we did that plus he was up there in age for a dog as well - 17.

Cute doggies everyone.  :D And I'm sorry you lost Cujo, maniac. I still miss the sheltie we had about 9 years ago. It's not easy, especially when you have to choose to put them to sleep. Our sheltie had leukemia and she got to the point where she couldn't walk, it was heartbreaking.  :(

hehe  Try having four...  We do have to keep them separated 2x2 90% of the time, though.  Once the hellos and novelty of being together wears off, pecking order and property rights start to get in their heads...

I had no intention of ever being a cat owner. My roommate in 2002 changed all that. She was a big-time cat lover (or should I say a wanna-be animal collector).

One day, she heard a kitten outside her door and wanted to keep it, claiming the owner abandoned it. She brought it with her, after I asked her not to, to my work when she picked me up. I really didn't want to look that kitten in the face (all cat lovers would understand - It's like saying no to the Puss in Boots from "Shrek"). Anyway, we went kitten shopping to take care of it. After all this, we found out that the owner had lost it and had to give it back. My roomie was heart-broken and I finally gave in and went to a pet shop and that's when we got Sakic (named after Colorado Avalanche's team captain).

After awhile of leaving home while we were at work, we found that either he was getting into trouble or feeling lonely, so my roomie talked me into getting another little tyke. So, we went to the mall and found a woman standing outside the pet shop holding two of the tiniest fur-balls I've ever seen. She told me they were too small to give to the pet store and if we wanted them, they would cost us $15. Well, what a deal! I paid her $20 for one and we named him Davis (after my roomie's favorite football player).

Sakic was always more of your typical distant and independent cat, while Davis was more affectionate and also very much of a lap cat. I bonded much more with Davis than I ever did with Sakic (even though I named him).

When the roomie and I went our separate ways, she ended up taking Sakic, and I ended up taking Davis. And I'm glad that I did. In fact, I'm glad she talked me into getting him. He's the greatest cat I could have. He follows me around and sits there watching me cook. He lays on my lap and sets his paw on my hand when I'm typing on the keyboard. He lays on my lap while watching T.V. I think the only annoying thing he does is try to sit on whatever I'm working on or trying to read (my laptop, books, notebooks etc). He certainly does like being the center of attention.

Before these little guys, I couldn't imagine having to take care of a cat along with everything else in my life. Now, I can't imagine life without him.

AHH Im a total cat person!!! They are the best always.

They all have such unique personalities. its fantastic.

Here is my evil one. I hear ginger red hair cats are ratbags.  My cat Tinker..a male believe it or not....is terrible. But is a big sook.
OH he can be really mean sometimes.

But he makes up for it with loads of cuddles.  And a bit of drool on my arm.

We got a new puppy so I am posting his picture....
http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn130/BlueMoon1958/?action=view&current=Polaroidcamera030.jpg

His name is Jake. I don't know how to resize it, so I'm just posting the link. He didn't even weigh a full pound when we got him, it's all that hair that makes him look bigger. He's now a little bit over one pound, but he's hell on wheels. He's a cross between a Jack Russel and a Shih Tzu. We also have 5 cats and he is smaller than every one of them, but he still thinks he's the boss of them all. He's not supposed to get any bigger than 10 or 12 pounds, and that will put him on equal footing with the cats.

http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn130/BlueMoon1958/?action=view&current=Polaroidcamera031.jpg
Here he is meeting one of our cats......he's since made friends with our youngest cat Squeak. It's hilarious to watch the two of them wrestle, and even funnier to watch this tiny puppy drag Squeak around by her ears. Why she allows him to do this, we do not know.

This is Checkers, our Newfoundland/Spaniel mix who came to us when he was only a year old.

I took this photo just today after his achievement of managing to get up on my bed.  Granted, because he weighs about 85 lbs. it took him 3 or 4 attempts, but he made it!

Now he's at the ripe old age of eleven, and he's the sweetest pooch I've ever known!

hi, i'm Figaro, but i like to go by Figgie. i'm a male cat. soulofthesea is my person. i love attention from anybody, especially mr. soul himself. i have long, soft, black fur. i weigh a whooping fourteen pounds, and while some call me "fat", i prefer the term "fluffy". i love receiving lots of cuddles from my human Ryan and using the hypnotic power of my purr to help him sleep when he can't do it himself. plus, i really love curling up next to him on a cold winter's night and keep him warm. i love my human and he loves me back. ;)

soul, here. sorry for the flashy eyes. the flash on my mom's blackberry camera has a bad habit of doing that and there's no way to turn the flash off.

Hello, I wanted to say hey for all animal lovers out there. My favorite pet is puppies. I don't like exotic or wild animals. Even though I'm not a fan of wild animals, still I own a pet parrot named Leila(loulou is her nickname). It eats a lot of seeds and bits hard like a B...(witch). My father bought for my mother as a valentine gift. She had her husband, but he passed away because he wasn't used to the weather. Here's her picture.

She's cute; but don't get fooled by her angelic face becaues once she bites, she leaves pores and pain in someone finger.

If you want you can share information about your animals and a picture of it would be appreciated.

She is a cutie, Anonymous. :)

OK, since we had a few pet threads roaming around here, I've merged them all into one big thread of furry, feathery fun. :)

lol Dasi. your kitty's antics are just like my Figgie's. no kidding, he'll wander around the house with anything in his mouth, as if item he was carrying was his baby. and when I say anything, I mean anything, from socks  to undies to toilet paper. I've even seen him carry and destroy the business section of the newspaper! here's what I think of your business!

My other kitty does that too Soul 1titter.  Funny thing is this one (baby) never has, she prefers spiders and balls etc.  So that's why I had to grab the cam.

Aw ty Senko of course I've been reminded since yesterday that these kitties aren't mine by their mothers...my lil darlings.  I showed the youngest one the thread post yesterday—apparently they don't mind me posting the pics with a disclaimer.   Mommy is still waiting for one of her very own ;D.

I looked around and did not actually see a thread like this. Pets any one?
My husband and I have 2 ferrets, a cat and a hamster. We might get a second kitty down the line, but for now we're fine with our retarded ditz, Reeses. I got him for Christmas in 2008 and he kind of picked me instead of visa verca. When I picked him up in a store, he curled up on me and purred. How could I resit? D8 here is some pictures. He grew really big now and he is a bit on retarded annoying side, but I love him regardless:

Actually, we do, but it was buried back a ways. I've merged the two together for now.

Also, I absolutely adore ferrets! Had a couple myself growing up, in addition to a menagerie of other pets. They made for some fun times...up until they were eaten by my dad's Irish wolfhound. I kid you not. Hah.

Apparently, my cat likes to watch TV now. Not too long ago, we were watching Cats 101 on Animal Planet, and Figgie went up to the TV and didn't move for about twenty minutes. He seemed really interested in the Havanna Brown, which was when he moved closer to the TV. Now we tease him, and ask him if he wants a Havanna Brown. It also came up that Figgie thinks his species is more superior to others, because right after Cats 101, It's Me or the Dog came on, and he just turned his back to the TV and walked away. :D
