that song drives me crazy too... it was nice at the beginning but very VERY soon it became so overplayed on MTV etc. as well as people's cellphones etc. and just hearing it makes people want to smash their TV...

You guys would probably kill me if I said I liked "Umbrella" :smt120  I only enjoy the non-rap version because I absolutely despise rap.

I do however hate anything by JT.  I just hate his voice and everything about his songs.  Anything by Britney Spears makes me gag, too. Ummm, "Thnks fr th Mmrs" by Fall Out Boy is a specific song that I don't like, but I generally hate them altogether heh.

Oh, and I hate Fergie's "Big Girls Dont Cry," but I also hate her altogether too LOL

As of now, Amr Diab, an Arabic singer, is getting to me. Well not his other music but his album called Alem Albi is annoying. I think it`s because my husband plays it every damn day.

It seems that their songs just rhyme for the sake of rhyming.
Rhymes are great. The other day to work I was late.

And they always echo every single line.
Ooooohhhh not again!

And they're all either love songs or break-up songs.
Eww.

I think it would have to be the song from Madagascar, Move It. My son has taken to singing it over and over and over, and you get the idea. I have to back it up to that section constantly when he watches it and I'm seriously thinking of hiding that dratted DVD!

I hate when people ruin songs that used to be perfect...A prime example is "reach out and touch me" by hilary duff...not only is this talentless cow ripping off the wonderful Depeche Mode's song Personal Jesus, but she couldnt even be bothered to rip it off properly and ends up making an idiot out of herself by singing the wrong lyrics. It isnt "Reach out and touch me", it is infact sang as "Reach out and touch faith".

Pop, Lock and Drop It is by huey  dnt know who that is

It's really funny coz songs like 7 Things, The logical song or She's like a star are supposed to be annoying but i tolerate them.
In fact, She's Like A star - Sugababes and Taio Cruz is my favourite song

Keep Your Hands to Yourself by the Georgia Satellites . . . a nice little ditty making fun of girls who say "no", and Jessica by the Allman Brothers . . . there's a limit to how many times one should be allowed to repeat a single guitar riff in the same song.

Both songs are moldy oldies . . . I stopped listening to the radio years ago.

Surely you jest.
That is wrong in every sense of the word, and the fact that she can't even get the lyrics right is just pathetic.
On a related note, have you heard the cover of Personal Jesus done by Johnny Cash?  It is amazing.
This is an example of a good cover:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQcNiD0Z3MU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQcNiD0Z3MU)

Well are some songs that drive me up the wall:
-Afternoon Delight by the Starland Vocal Band.  Although I love the version on Anchorman.
-You're Beautiful by James Blunt.  Could that man sound any more whiny?
-Crank Dat Soulja Boy or whatever.  It makes me want to commit violent acts on some poor innocent bystander.
-We Built This City (On Rock and Roll) by Jefferson Starship
-Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus.  His spawn isn't that much better either.
-Anything by Fergie, Jonas Brothers, and all of the other flash in the pan sensations that have been forced violently upon an unsuspecting populace.

I would rather hear Raffi's Banana Phone ad nauseum for the rest of my life than listen to any of those songs.  Actually I have Banana Phone as one of my ringtones that plays whenever my dad calls me.
At least that song makes me laugh.

1."All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You"-Heart. dont get me wrong i love Heart, but i absolutely cant stand this song!
2.Celine Dion's cover of "Alone" by Heart. im sorry Celine Dion fans, but Celine can't sing crap on this song compared to Ann Wilson
3.just about anything by Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers. expensive studio magic + 100% "hot looks" + 0% talent = pure pop crap
4.any rap song, especially "Soulja Boy" and "Ice Ice Baby", except for "Walk This Way" by Run DMC. face it, most rappers are just dumb, common criminals and ghetto people/wanna-bes. not tryin to be racist, but its the truth
5.99.9% of today's "music". this 99.9% is not music and most of these "musicians" are just lousy and  talentless people who think they can sing, but in reality, they're just starting the downfall of their career

"Not tryin to be racist?" Try spelling correctly before you call anyone dumb. Music is what it is and you do not have to like. I am sure their feeling will not be hurt if you do not buy their albums. Secondly, there are many rappers out there who have multimillion dollar operations and are smarter than you and me. I am also positive that there are many pop singers with 8th grade educations in this world so maybe you could try being a lot less of a racist and get over yourself.

Everyone has an opinion. Now, whether or not it should be stated is another matter. YOU don't need to get on anyone for their typing skills or lack thereof. You got on them for what you perceive as their lack of racial tolerance and I am going to get on YOU for what I see as your lack of tolerance for their typing skills. Not everyone can bang on the keys with 100% accuracy and for you to call them out on something that doesn't matter strikes of intellectual elitism, which we don't especially care for, either. Have a nice day, Sunshine.

Personally, I dislike what Rap has become since the early days of the genre. Having heard some of the new stuff, the only thing that came across was violence and degradation. That kind of crap doesn't come into my house. This place is my refuge from the crap that goes on outside of my doors, and I'm not inviting stuff in that ruins that peace of mind. Music can be a powerful motivational tool for good or ill. I tend to go for the good and leave the stuff I dislike behind. I'm sure you are the same.

First, I have to say I am one of the crazies who still likes Rihanna's "Umbrella" even though Rihanna or pop music is not really my thing. I prefer it without Jay-Z, though. I am also one of the crazies that despite how badly overplayed "You're Beautiful" is, I am a major James Blunt fan. LOL. Kick me in the behind if you must.  :p

I cannot stand anything by Avril Lavigne. It makes me want to go on a massacre.

Also ... Nickelback. *Cringe.*

And I agree with Paden, as much as I love Madagascar, the "Move It" song is highly annoying. And anything by the Wiggles.

Edit, I forgot a most important one: Leona Lewis "Bleeding Love" I have no problem with the song. I have a problem with Leona Lewis stealing other peoples songs and butchering them. Ryan Tedder should've been the one to sing this, but at least there was a Jesse McCartney version. Leona needs to either massacre her own songs or go away.

I can't stand hardly anything emo (especially the junk from MCR and PATD). I hate how they squeal and scream and crap in their songs. Also anything by Fergie. But the one song that really does irritate me is that "I get knocked down" song, and "I kissed a girl" from Katy Perry. At first it was only mildly amusing, if at all, now I want to choke people for singing it all the time.

I like rap, but I don't like hiphop too much (there is a difference).

Hmmm, what else...Any of the dumb Disney 'artist', Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Dorks, Ashley Tisdale, etc. Someone already said Taylor Swift, but I hate her music too. And even hearing the name "Beyonce" makes me feel like shooting someone right in the knees. Who ever told this showboating broad that she was any good at anything, her and Celine Dion!

Hmmm... I have a LONG list of songs that annoy me.

-Anything by Nickelback. I just hate Chad Kroeger's (spelling?) voice. And their songs get overplayed so much on the radio, which is why I stick to my MP3 player.
-Anything by Daughtry, or any American Idol winner for that matter.
-RAP= retards attempting poetry
-That "Amadaeus" song
-BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY. my god. I can't listen to it in it's entirety because I will eventually have to punch someone.
-Katy Perry should just...drop off the face of the earth. EVERYONE is now a lesbian because of her.
-Gym Class Heroes cover of "Breakfast in America" by Supertramp. I think that's what the original is called.
-"Irreplaceable" and "Single Ladies" by Beyonce. Or Anything by her really...
-My Chemical Romance and all other bands like them
-Miley and the Jonas kids. Gah.

Should probably stop here before I write a novel!

Title: Re: Songs that drive you crazy..

Dirty South - All of it. That sh!t is not Hip Hop.

Emo Rock - Since when did crying like bitches become cool? Man up and get some balls you mascara wearin' pansies.

Pop - I'd like to push a car over a cliff...With The Pussycat Dolls locked inside...With grenades taped to their heads.

Anything from Carrie Underwood - Cuz my ex loved Carrie Underwood, so she has to die by association.

Rap - Notice I say "Rap". There's a difference between Rap and Hip Hop. Rap is that garbage you hear on the radio and see on TV all the time. Lil' Wayne. 50 Cent. TI. That's Rap, and it's GARBAGE. Hip Hop is guys like Mos Def, Talib Kwali, Common, Jedi Mind Tricks & R.A. The Rugged Man. Hip Hop = Good. Rap = Put a screw driver in my ear and twist slowly, cuz it's about the same effect either way.

R&B - Same story as Rap. There's R&B and then there's Soul. Give me Soul anyday. I'll take Sade or Corinne Bailey Rae over Beyonce or Mariah Carrie anyday. (Though I do like Mariah's Pre Tommy Matola material)

That about covers it...lol.

Anything by Mariah Carey, Sara McClachlin, and Britney Spears. In order, I'd be afraid of breaking glass, be tempted to slit my wrists, and play the smallest violin in the world for the world's youngest "martyr"! By the way... have they finally taken her children away for good?

And I'd rather have my kids listen to Jonas Brothers than look up to some singer who wears duct tape and dental floss and throws her trash around. But, that's my opinion. Guess I'm old-fashioned.

By the way, guys... I realize that the people in the beginning of this forum doesn't like the song "Umbrella", but I do. And I do like Rhianna. Hate her taste in boyfriends. But I do like her (self-esteem or not).

Actually, I really can't stand "The Brady Bunch" theme song. Once that gets started in my head, I really have a hard time getting it out!  1headwall

New Britney is terrible.

Kelly Clarkson's new song, "my life would suck without you," or whatever it's called is absolutely awful in my opinion. It is the one song in this world I downright refuse to even listen to for a second. It makes me want to throw my radio out the window.

I can't stand ALL Britney. I don't like shallow messages. No offense to anyone here.

And actually, I think Clarkson has got a lot of depth in most of her songs. I think she's great. I haven't heard that song, however, Naria. Different strokes, I guess.

Jonas brothers?  Cutesy but, nails on a chalk board. 1coffee

I chose Jonas Bro's because a lot has to do with how they grew up. Nothing wrong with having their background and what they believe in. Just a comparison of the younger gen's icons, is all.

Heck, I mostly listen to anything the boys do in Supernatural to tell you the truth!  1rock

Sadly, I quite love "Everytime", "Stronger", and "Lucky." I listen to them more than I should ever admit to.  ;)

But exactly. People have different opinions. I'm sure a lot of people like Kelly Clarkson, and a lot of people despise what I listen to. Doesn't bother me. :)

You know, I would have to say, hands down that the song I despise the most would have to be "The Hamster Dance". And I am so glad we are not actually sitting on a discussion panel because I'm sure one of you would break out into song, lol.

I HATE THAT SONG!!!! And whoever wrote it should be strapped to horses and quartered!

Actually it's "The Naked Mole Rap" (about a naked mole rat, lol).  But I think this probably belongs more in the songs that I' have to admit I love--I can't get out of my head thread. It's a Disney KP thing 1tehe ;)

My Chemical Romance is NOT emo. And they do not scream in their songs.

And before you throw a rock at me for that, just remember that without those older bands, your newer bands probably would not be in existence because the ground was already broken for them by the pioneers of rock and roll.

Most rap songs, especially Solja Boy (Or however it's spelled) because it seems like he just threw words in there and, oh mah gosh, it's a song! ...No. And that Sexy Chick song by Akon and whoever-that-guy-is because "I'm trying to find the words to describe this girl without being disrespectful (Damn girl!) Paden, Oldies and Classical are badass. I like both. Finally, someone else who is repulsed by MCR. That crap ain't singing. Enya or Dido can sing better than that while being mauled by 20 crazy cats. Reminds me of how my dad screams at the top of his lungs while he's throwing up.

Here's the latest music I can't stand. Anything by Taylor Swift, her voice totally annoys me for some reason. Probably because my mom and my best friend play her all the damn time.

And that "So Hard" song from Rihanna (sp). It's not that it's a totally bad song, because I like the girl's unique voice, but it's very catchy and bugs the crap out of me when it's caught in my head all day.

(The post I made before was really juvenille, and I apologize.)

I don't consider anything "old" unless it is really classical, such as Bach or Beethoven (I love both their music though). And I didn't say anything about "older" bands. I love bands such as Queen, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.

And again, you're being completely stereotypical. Just because I like My Chem (for their lyrics, and no, they BARELY "scream" in their songs) does not mean that I don't like early rock bands.

Now, songs that drive me crazy are anything by that Bieber kid or any "Disney artist". I hate meaningless music that has no potential meanings besides the typical "Break Up" story.

In Paden's defense, she wasn't labeling you with like or disliking anything. She merely mentioned she liked music most younger people would consider "oldies" and pointed out it was those artists who paved the way for today's artists. :) I think her "throw a rock" comment was because you had responded so sensitively to someone else saying they didn't like MCR.

I don't mind MCR, but it's all perspective. What you consider music others will consider screaming. Parts of "The Jetset Life is Gonna Kill You" can be a bit screamy and so can "Honey This Mirror isn't Big Enough (etc)" and "Thank You For The Venom", just to name a few. Then there's "Bury Me in Black". It is a screamfest. ;) If I had to pick a favorite, I would have to choose "House of Wolves". It's got a kind of a rockabilly/swing drumbeat going on in it I really like.

It's not always a bad thing, if used right, but it's not going to be to everyone's taste. Just because someone says they don't like an artist or style of music doesn't mean they're saying anything against you. Like what you like.

I love music, pure and simple and have a bit of just about everything in my collection. I enjoy madrigals, opera, blues, jazz, swing, ska, ethnic, rock, alternative, bluegrass and onward. I'm not a huge rap or country fan.

Oh, and Lady Gaga drives me insane. No offense to any Lady Gaga fans, but I just can't stand her.

Oh I'm already crazy so there is none. These would make me insane
-anything by Taylor Swift (except for Picture to Burn..there's a reason behind this)
-plenty of Hannah Montana songs. ones that come to mind are Who Said, Make Some Noise, Nobody's Perfect, Ordinary Girl (ew to this one esp) for Miley I hate See You Again.
the bulk of current rap..if I had to pick one in particular it would be LMFAO (I hadn't heard of them until I was watching one of the extra music channels and what da ell? where do they get these names)
-pretty much anything by Demi Lovato. I have nothing against her but her music has been getting on my nerves lately.
-So many people say Jonas Brothers here. Ay it kinda makes me feel funny coming in this thread like I'm being attacked. I know I'm not and it's ok because it's your opinion but I guess I feel this way because so many people bash them (and their fans) these days. my cousin even dislikes them (oh well what do I care? she likes that annoying Twilight and she's only 12 so I guess it's not a big deal) and some of my mom's coworkers too. Anyway I do have a Jonas Brothers song that can get annoying and that would be SOS. I also absolutely hate Hello Beautiful.
-anything by Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's fine if someone here likes them because it's not that they're necessarily bad, I just can't stand their music. it's just..disgusting sounding.
-High School Musical songs.
-Tik Tok by KeSha

The worst song would be Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. I hate this song so flutternuckin much. btw that title is so ironic.

Title: Re: Songs that drive you crazy..
Post by: ChildofRenessaince on February 08, 2011, 01:52:38 pm
Yes... most rap is annoying. Well... the one that are popular. I won't say all I've not heard all. I'm eccletic. I lock rock, pop. Even hard rock (Ozzy... Blue Oyster Cult, but I don't follow them. I maybe have 3 songs of each)... sometimes. But I listen to softer music most times. Celtic Rock... Celtic.. About the only thing that I don't listen to is Heavy Metal. *shivers*

[I listen to classical alot... mostly because I'm annalytical on how music affects you. I mean you're mood at the time. Not the influence of the lyrics on you. Different rythms affect your heartrate... and your body. Classical, and some Celtic music calm you... while other's make you anxious or excited. Sometimes I like being anxious or excited. But if music did not effect our emotions, we wouldn't listen to it. I've read studies that music can be addicting. I've experimented on myself. I go through, High's and Lows. I can listen to music, and for a short time, I wouldn't need to. Studies have, been done, and I've tried it on myself. I thought that it was just stupid at first. Try it on yourself... when you are in the phase where you want to go back and listen to music. Just cut it out completely... or cut everything out that has a beat. It is like withdrawl! I felt I needed to listen to it. But not just rock... any! I would try to sneak out to the car (I don't know what that solved)it got so bad... I had to listen to something to take the edge off.  Finally, after 3 months beat free...  I felt like I didn't need to listen to music. Then I started listening to just classical then Celtic. I enjoyed it... but didn't feel like I needed to... at least not until later with the Celtic. Simple music, was the only that I found that didn't cause addiction in me. I don't do that any more though... It was just an experiment. Music, they say... is the one thing that no one may speak ill of. That is what the study said. It is strange]

Eminem I used to think was kinda catchy for rap but, I can't stand the filthy lyrics... now I don't know the names of the songs but: "kiss my b*tt lick the ****** from under my ****". Which I didn't hear until, I heard the non-radio version.

Jesse McCartney "Not Only does your body bang, but I miss the conversation too...." I used to like him, what happened?!  Also:"And she's about to break, break, break, break. But I won't let her wet, wet, wet, wet,..." ?!!!!!!!

"YEAH! My Chick, can have what she wants... I bet you aint never had a man like that... to give you every thing you heart desire like that... I want your body... need your body... without me you won't need nobody... tell the other broke jokers to be quiet. Stacks on me, petrol on ice, we can pop bottles all night, and baby you can have whatever you like... YEAH!"

The songs with the same lyrics over and over, INDEPENDENT, Cyclone, and she must have got it from her momma. Besides, the actual songs about it. The newer ones who think they are cool, because the mention them too so they must be bettter.

I cannot stand the "Way I am ARE." "Can you handle me the way am are?" Really? Just because you can't rhyme to save your life? It's like "I'm cool because I don't try to have a brain. I'm accepted. Everyone has an IQ of 2, and I'm proud of it."

"...Too much booty, for one man to handle, little momma you know you fit my standards".

"The way that booty movin' I can't take no more. I have to stop what I'm doin' so I can pull her close. I'm trying to find the words to describe this girl, without being disrepectful: Dang (actually **mn Girl!)  What ever happened to ELOQUENCE, I ask you?!!!

Everytime, I here something decent, someone says that it is boring... or that it sounds like they are dead.

"I went to da room and wat did I see? A nice round b*tt, and a pair u dubble Deez!"

"Forget about yo' boyfriend and meet me at the motel room"

I want to make love in this club... "I'm gonna give it to you non-stop and I don't care who's watching..." What?! Am I a weirdo... Or am I the only girl on the planet who thinks that that is totally unappealing? And invading and scary to say the least!

The Pussycat dolls... "Buttons"... "Loosen up my buttons... baby". I can't even turn on the radio without getting an anatomy lesson.

Recently I've discovered that I really like PINK.

My music taste is a bit hard to define. I'm not so much on the artist, as on what is in the song. An artist I normally can't stand could have a song I really like, and opposite.

On my ick list are:

Rap, R&B, and any kind of hard rock, metal and darker music (if they insist on screaming inaudible words, with music that drowns out a jet plane and can't be interpreted as a melody, they end up straight on my ick list). There are very few exceptions - but I might have found a few over the years.

Songs with no deeper meaning than "s**, drugs and rock'n'roll", swearing, boobies or otherwise braindead themes. There are exceptions, but only if I like the melody...

I don't have many "ick" artists, but I'm usually not much on the recent Disney artists. There are plenty of exceptions, but Hannah Montana and that gang aren't much popular with me. I might have stumbled over a nice song or two, but those are rare...

Lady Gaga... Can't stand the songs, and I fall off my chair laughing every time I see the costumes. I've seen better costumes in a first-grade school play...

I've kind of started liking bands and music from the 50's to 80's lately, while expanding my music collection. Many hidden pearls in there (but several empty oysters there, too)

Lol, I don't know what songs drive me crazy, I stopped tuning into Mtv, and popular music radio stations years ago.  I'm talking 10yrs easy of media free influence.  Not a big fan of the boob tube, where's my TV pop up blocker for the commercials?  (yea yea tivo I know, hubby laughs at me everytime I ask for it)  Moving on to the topic again, to each their own.  I am aware of what IS currently popular with the kids these days and agree it's terrible fluff and stuff with little substance, that claims to hold meaning but I'm too old to hear it lol. right.  But crazy, I'd have to say Metallica, I have many reasons to hate them as a group and even more reason to hold my nose to their music new or old.  There I said it, now I'm running as fast as I can before they sue me for using their band name without their permission.  :p

Thanks, now I really feel old. I havent heard half the artest ya'll have talked about. (Thank God). I tend to listen to older rock and country or Celtic myself. There are 3 songs that after all these years could cause me to harm someone.

1. Ice Ice Baby (or anything by that twit) Makes me want to put him on ice

2 You can't touch this by MC Hammer. Oh yea I can,,, with a sniper rifle

3 I got the power. I dont know who sings it, it is from the same timeframe as the other 2. Makes me want to shove a powercord up someones rear end and hit the switch.

I stopped listening to much "New music" since those "songs" came out. And I loath rap and hip-hop

Ok, So I am an old fart!

Yeah, you pretty much said what I meant. I just went on a ranting spree ... because where we moved in the country, we only get a few stations... and all they play is that kind of music.

I don't listen to really hard rock either... but with a few exeptions... like "Changes" by Ozzy... I didn't even know that he sang it. It really isn't even hard rock. But yeah.... artists that I usually like sometimes have songs that I hate... and the other way around.  I like bands from the 50's to 80's too.

As you said,  "I'm not so much on the artist, as on what is in the song..." And "There are exceptions, but only if I like the melody..." And Rap gets under my skin very deeply... But... VERY few... don't end up on the lothe list... What I mean is that I can resist plugging my ears... Probably not so much that I like it all that much.

*Prepares to be laughed at* ( 3yay) All that I have on my mp3 player other than the complete  Die Kunst der Fugue (it's small) now is...........

The Carpenters, Enya, Dolly Parton... and "The Shape of My Heart", by the........................................

"Backstreet Boys".... apparently. *gasp*

yeah I don't care for a lot of country either..I didn't mention it in my post though because I thought I'd be more specific.

I know what you mean I guess because I'm so tired of their self titled but I think Fly With Me (which is on their newest album) is a beautiful song...World War 3 is pretty different/not shallow sounding too.
you also have to admit that a Little Bit Longer is an inspiring song..yes it was written about diabetes but it actually can be about any struggle (Nick even said that it's for all the people who are having a hard time). it has helped me before
maybe it did not inspire you and though it is short it has as you said "some heart in it" because it has inspired others.
another song that has helped me before is Hold On, though I'm tired of their self titled I could still listen to that song sometimes when I would have a hard time.

guess it doesn't matter anyway though because the Jonas Brothers are pretty much over.
