I am now trying to consolidate as well as update this thread to current status. RL has kept me too busy of late to be of any good use to all of you but thanks to Mark many updates have been found and reported in later posts in this thread. Over the next few days I will try to move Mark's research to the first post.

TJ has created the Sim Blender (an alternative to The InSim). It has been updated to AL compatibility.

See link for more information:

Mark (our tireless Sims investigative reporter) has also found the following at Sims Wardrobe:

"March 7, New Fix: NPC Phonebook Fix - After the installation of FreeTime the phonebook no longer shows any of the NPCs that should be callable, such as the Maid, Gardener, Etc. This is due to a glitch in the new LUA script that is supposed to filter out the "uncallable" NPCs. This fix makes the non BV NPCs callable again and has the added bonus of allowing you to call the new Hobby Club Leaders on the phone."

Please see the Sims Wardrobe section for the link to SW.

All questions pertaining to function, performance and problems with the InTeen should be asked at Simbology.

Jase previously updated the Jenflower's Teen WooHoo Lite mod to FT EP 7 compatibility. It has not been updated for AL. Remember this is not the InTeen; you can not have both the InTeen and Jen WH simultaneously in your game. Use the update that is compatible with your game. Read the ReadMe files.

If you wish to have teen woo hoo for AL Carrigon updated her mods to AL compatibility.

The InTeenimater will not work, nor does JenFlower's Teen Woohoo.  The anti-elder-aging elixer mod may work, but may disable some functionality in OFB.

You need to re-enable custom content from the options menu.  All custom content is disabled by default. when you install OFB.  People are using InSim successfully in OFB.  Check the InSim support forum for more info.

Title: Just trying OFB-Some Info.
Post by: Phantom on March 02, 2006, 07:17:07 pm
I see 5 mods or hacks listed that over ride game behavior
they are:
1. Adopt teen V2, package
2. Like jase439 said Inteenimentor (_B. package).
3. Lotfull of sims ox 0177. package
4. Preg normal dressing V1. package
5. DMA sims 2 downloads are not compatible with OFB,
DMA will sooner or later come out with a version for OFB
Everything else seems to work ok........

im not sure what hack it is but one of them seems to make "business - hire employees" not work.. Im about to take them out and check one by one.. I know for sure it wasnt Merola 64 painting beacause ive been using that the only other one it might be is the computer hack or phone line controller.. I think it is probably the phone line controller.

BTW, Inge is very much on top of her fab tweaks too.

I have encountered a lot of problems with the teen woohoo hack, I discovered the menu at the bottom of the screen when you are playing goes missing and when you create a new sim in CAS, the sim does not appear at all.  You cannot model your sim to your taste.  When you select a sim in the game, it will not move or do anything.  This all happened after installing OFB.

Anyone else encountered problems like this???

Okay, pardon me for being so pissy in writing this but PLEASE do not ask (here or in other related threads) if and when either the InSim or Teen Woo Hoo hacks (the Inteenimator or Jenflower's) will be updated. Asking will only postpone their creators from making a faster transition for us to OFB compatibility. The woo hoo hacks are at present totally incompatible. Jase has his work cut out for him in trying to make his babies walk again. OFB made major changes to BHAV. Jase needs our patience and love right now, not our whining (besides, I am the official and accepted whiner here).

The InSim is currently 99% compatible with OFB but Eric is hard at work making some fine tuning to bring it back to complete perfection. Any info pertaining to the present OFB condition for these MODS is is posted in the first post of this thread.

Reading is fundamental!

jinyc, thank you for being the official whiner!! You must have broad shoulders.  I just want to say one quick word, If people want to get the most out of OFB, they should at least play a short time without hacks. I am doing this now, and I did the same with NL when it released. It teaches us  the players what Maxis intended the game to do. Actually it is amazing how much fun the game is stock. (yes I want my in-teen too, but being patient will pay off!)

Billy thank you so much. No, my shoulders are not that broad but I am used to doing detailed research.

JJ, help unmuddle my mind! What hack are you referring to and what does it do? What would your clock mod do? Maybe I can direct you to a similar one.

Steve Bonham at TSR has compiled an great, comprehensive guide to Vista and TS2:

Running The Sims 2 on Windows Vista By Steve Bonham, The Sims Resource

Vista is the new Operating System from Microsoft, the successor to Windows XP (which most of you are probably running on your Sims 2 PC (Mac users exempt of course)).

You might be considering upgrading your Operating System to Vista (as I have) so I thought I'd put your mind to rest with regards running The Sims 2 on Windows Vista.

Vista comes in several different packages, ranging very much in price. To best suit my needs, I opted for the Home Premium edition, but any version you buy will act in the same way, you are just buying more or less features.

The biggest difference, and one issue which you must get right for the Operating System to run on your PC, is 32-bit or 64-bit. I have installed Vista on 2 PC's, one with the 32-bit system, and the other with a 64-bit system (running an X2 Dual Core 64-bit processor).

The good news is that Sims 2 and all of the Expansion Packs and Stuff Packs installed and run perfectly on both the
32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista, although there are some hiccups and issues that you might like to know about.

As you can see in the window below, Vista identifies that there are known compatibility issues with The Sims 2 when you insert the disk to install.

Clicking the "Check for solutions online" button brings up this popup which explains that there is an update available to resolve the issue, with a link to the Updates Page at the Official Site.

This page should be familiar to you already, as you should always apply the latest patches to your game, and installing to Vista is no different. There are no Vista specific patches, just be sure to download and run the correct patch for your version of the game. I have the DVD version, so I needed only download and install the DVD Patch after I had completed the installation of Sims 2.

If you intend to install Expansion Packs immediately after Sims 2 then you do not need to install the basic game patch first. Just install Sims 2 then any other EP's you have, being sure to patch the final version for the latest pack you have.

Continue with the installation of the base game and any EP's you have. No patching or updating is needed just to install the games. Be sure to apply the patch you need before running the game though.

That should be all you need to do to get The Sims 2 running on your Vista PC, but there is a new feature that XP users may feel the need to drool over.

The Games Folder within Vista gathers all of your game executables in one place and shows them off with their box art and ratings info, as well as compatibility data for your hardware.

Unfortunately, Vista does not yet have all of the data for the Sims 2 games, but no doubt it will be updated in time and will automatically appear in your Games browser. Also, note that Pets is the only EP that does not appear at all in the Games browser (this will no doubt be fixed in time). You can drag the icon from the desktop into this folder though, but you won't get the box art just yet. Pets will still run as normal from the desktop icon, or by navigating to:
All programs/EA Games/The Sims 2 Pets.

To enable these features, click the Options button near the top of the browser and enable the "Download information about installed games" checkbox (the game data may not show by default, so you must do this).

And that's it! Sims 2 running fine and dandy on Vista, as you can see here running in windowed mode in widescreen glory. Can Sims life get any better?

Other Sims community programs I have tried are Clean Installer and SimPE, both of which work fine as well, on all of the functions I have tried at least.

Have fun with it!

Steve

If the major post is too confusing to read (and I would be surprised if it were not, containing so much reference), please let me know and I will do my best to edit it.

I would say to be patient. The SimPe Site looks to be having problems. I tried using the links in this thread's first post for either SimPe or the no-censor file and both links are broken. I Googled SimPe and had the same result. I really think it's a temporary problem that will be fixed shortly.

As for the Quaxi censor file, if you are using the one from PETS it will also work with SEASONS. It is working with my EP5 installed.

Hey Joey, a new patch for Seasons has been released (someone posted the news on another thread):

Seasons CD/DVD Patch (http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.7&variation=cd&languageCode=)
Seasons Digital Download Patch (http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.7&variation=dd&languageCode=)

Title: Seasons patch
Post by: maniac19642003 on March 30, 2007, 09:26:03 pm
The Seasons patch can now be downloaded from the official Sims 2 site. There are only 3 fixes in the patch though. MaxoidGoonter gives some additional info:

"You only need to apply the most recent patch for the most recent EP you have installed.
This is because the installation of your most recent EP includes all previous bug fixes, so there is no need to apply previous patches.
EXCEPTION: If you have Pets and Seasons, please apply both patches - some of the Pets fixes were not included with Seasons. Thanks!"

Download the patch here:
- CD/DVD patch (http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.7&variation=cd&languageCode=)
- Digital Download patch (http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.7&variation=dd&languageCode=)

Mark and Sadie, thanks for the heads up. I will add the link to the main post. My game is sadly in mothballs. I have a new PC and flummoxed the transfer of files and riled The Veronaville Horror a bit too much. I guess it's time for Veronaville IV; although, I may just move on to the new neighborhhood. Right now I am playing Caesar IV and trying to become Emperor.

Stimy, I agree with you but thank goodness we all did not have to wait.

Again, Sadie, TA ever so much for the heads up on where to find Squinge's work. I will put the link in the main section of this thread. I am sure there are many of us who feel the great loss of Squinge and his magnificent work.

Trust me, I know the demands now of RL. I hope all is well for Squinge. His presence will be missed by all here.

I am proud of the fact that I was the first to suggest that Empress Kathy to invite St. Squinge eons ago to bring his work to the InSim. That was probably the smartest, most SIMtastic thing I have ever done.

I am playing Pleasantview now. I moved several packaged Veronaville lots over with the re-install. While I like SEASONS, I find it the least stable of all the EPs. You have no idea how many crashes I have had. POOHBAH!

Now for updating the thread!

jinyc, thanks for the mention in the first post on the BV updates.  Just a short caveat for the viewing public.  When I initiated that post on the Inteenimater site, it was for the purpose of stating whether my mods were or were not compatible with BV.  As an afterthought I indicated compatibility of Squinge's mods that I use.

Neither I nor any of the staff over there support Squinge's work.  My public service deed has brought many requests to check compatibility of other mods by Squinge.  Not going to happen.  For those of you wondering, get the hackdiff tool from MATY.  It's not that difficult to use.  Learn it.  Run it yourself.  If the results say clean for a mod, it's BV compatible.  You'll find out not only about Squinge's mods, but all the other mods you have.

Sadie, I used the link to update the first post and found only this: "There are no updates available for The Sims 2 at this time." Of course, it was in umpteen languages. Something tells me that the Patch needs a patch!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Sicko Maxis! I clicked again and the patch showed! Mind games!!!!!!!

RE-EDIT: I just read the changes and frankly I don't like the sound of it. As per Maxis: "Note: Not all fixes will take effect on existing The Sims 2 Bon Voyage saved games. If you have an existing lot, Sim, object or neighborhood that does not seem to be improved by this patch, we recommend that you replace the affected object, or create either a new family, lot or neighborhood, depending on what is affected by the bug."

"...we recommend that you replace the affected object, or create either a new family, lot or neighborhood..." How kind and thoughtful! We now have a patch that can completely snafu our neighborhoods and I thought that was the job of each new properly untested EP! Silly me!

"Autonomous water-balloon and snowball fights have been tuned so the interaction will occur less frequently." Gee, what about the obsessive sandcastle building, Tai Chi and beach digging? These are far more annoying than water balloon and snow ball fights.

For once, I am not adding a link to an EP patch. When they improve on their faux pas I will then link. Poohbah!

Thanks, Miss Doh! That makes me feel better as I do have the SEASONS patch. Have you added the BV patch yet?

EDIT: Bit the bullet and installed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE-EDIT: I played and I had no obsessive behavior. Phew! I checked my Characters folder and I have one additonal character. That's a bit worrisome as I have no new Simmies in my game. Ever since adding Pescado's Anti-Redundancy cure (which I removed prior to patching) I ran continuously with 732 Sims. Now suddenly I have 733. HMMMM!

I really don't have a clue as to the two last posts. If, indeed, they are related to Squinge's mods the link given us by Sadie and listed in the first post still works if one wants to grab one of the Hack Mastuh's hacks.

There is also a beautiful caveat that someone has magically added to this section (I know I never did as I just don't know how to post a red font!!!!). The warning is quite clear that if one wants to play with Squinge one must know for certain that it is at his own risk.

Happy New Year all! I guess it's time for an early Spring cleaning of this thread as a new EP disaster is on its way!!!!!

Ducks, if you are reading these posts you would see that mine states quite clearly that the link to Squinge's work supplied by Sadie in the first post of this thread still works.

Tenshii's linked BBB thread is there to make you aware that Squinge's Mods are no longer available on the InSimenator Site and therefore are no longer supported.

I would guess that the only independent link to Squinge's remarkable mods is available in the FIRST POST of this thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ducks, I am sorry if I seemed abrupt.

FYI, all of the info in the first post of this thread pertains to all EPs....really! As far as Squinge's mods are concerned, they are more likely to be readily compatible with OFB than with later mods; although, Squinge did tweak some for Seasons.

Miss Doh, Sadie, Ancienthighway et al. made it a point to check what of Squinge's would make the shift into Bon Voyage. The Mastuh's mods should work with OFB. Just look for the ones that have OFB in their naming. Those will definitely work!

Shakespeare? Indeed! The quote I was hinting at, ahem, is "None are so blind as they those who will not see!"

I posted this earlier in another thread, but I wanted to post it here as well for you Joey:

Bon Voyage patch
The second Bon Voyage patch has been released. It's strangely enough not to be found on the Sims2.com however. For those that can't wait, get it here: Gamershell.com (http://www.gamershell.com/news/45554.html)

Mark, I am concerned that it is not available on the TS2 Site. Maybe it was there and removed becuase it may causes more problems than not???? We need more info before making it official.

Cant remember if this is the first patch or not, but this is whats listed right now for the BV patch at ts2

    * Sims will no longer have the option to call vacation service NPCs after acquiring the business perk "Head for Numbers" which was causing a crash.
    * Sims will no longer have the option to "Call Taxi" using their cell phones if they have driven to the community lot with an own-able vehicle which was causing a crash.
    * If the Sim misses the shuttle, it will no longer return to a vacation lot without the Sim at the end of the vacation. Sometimes, this caused the vacation lot to become unusable.
    * Game will no longer create new vacation NPCs each time a lot is visited which was causing many issues due to character file overload. Any existing extra NPCs will be unlinked and their character files greatly reduced in size.
    * Periodic Events Controller will no longer loop twice per hour through each neighbor which was causing extreme lag on certain machines.

Mark, I know that the first patch fixed the NPC problem but I am not certain about the others. Hopefully, someone can enlighten us. The link is still there in the PATCH SECTION for the BV Patch. I have not changed it to read Patch 2 but it links to the same quotes that you posted here.

I just ran it and it says that EP6 is already updated for my game so I am thinking that they still have not posted the new PATCH on thier Site.

Well, I gather from other sources that it is the official second patch, just that EA don't want to host it themselves yet for some reason (maybe to cover their arses in case that one messes up?)

This is the list of fixes for this one:

- Housekeeper no longer repeatedly spawns.
- Children will no longer go on a vacation alone if their parent dies before van arrives.
- Riverblossomhills townies will no longer be invisible when The Sims 2 Seasons is uninstalled.
- Sims no longer pop out of hammock when WooHoo is rejected.
- Sims no longer get stuck during logrolling when trying to exit while another is entering.
- Undo and Redo can now be used on ClubCubes.
- Vacation guests no longer leave when a party at a vacation home ends.
- Locals now change back into native outfits after exiting water.
- Housekeeper now fills holes and fixes broken objects.
- Housekeeper now repairs servo.
- Sims no longer fall in love while chatting in a tent.

Sadie, TA for the heads up!

I am going to be a stubborn brat and not link to the new Patch until the officious official "arses" at TS2 host it on the main Site.

As far as these fixes go, they don't seem to be particularly important ones. I am curious about the housekeeper repeatedly spawning. I haven't noticed that ever and I do check my characters folder repeatedly since the BV regen started.

Its in our nature to be stubborn Joey, we're both 9/8 Virgos so I know lol, tho I wouldn't get this patch either unless it was on the official site so I don't blame you for that one and apparently, they still aren't hosting it on their site yet either cuz I just checked.

The new BV patch refuses to even install and it's claiming that I need to reinstall the whole damn thing in order to run it. I have no clue as to why this is, but Im not going to go through all of that just to allow a friggin patch and yes I went through the nessesary precautions to eliminate spyware. I've had bugs and wonderful people that have fixed EA's mistakes since it came out.

@DC: Try replacing your objects.package with the one from the CD (in the compressed.zip). That's the main reason it won't install :)

The zip file compressed.zip is on the first disk of the game, There should be several folders including an Objects folder and in that there should be the unmodified version of the objects.package. Copy that one to your objects folder on your hard drive and that should solve your problem.

and you just download the right version for the ep you have. :)

Be sure to read the info and faq's at the site about it so you know what to do and which one to download.

If I can manage to get it right I'm sure you will have NO problem at all- I'm a total ditz.  LOL LOL LOL :happy8:

I must say I am perplexed by all of the recent posts above from Danceswithwands. All of the questions listed in the first post are, most likely listed in the first post of this thread. All of her answers are listed in the first post of this thread.

When I read something like this I have to ask myself: "Why do I bother?????"

The writer states:

"I HAVE NO IDEA what to do when I get the new EP now that I have all this new "stuff" I downloaded.

Do I need to backup my download folder somehow? *how? and what about my Insimenator and Inteenimator? Will they work if I go out and buy the new EP?

Before anyone beats me with a wet noodle- I honestly DID try to find this info on my own... but I get kind of lost in the profuse info/posts here. SORRY."

I am sorry for the frustrated anger in this response but did the writer even read this thread's first post? If you had, I don't think that you would have had to do a mega search for answers.

uhhh yeah I read the first posts and all the other posts and I understood that the idea was to download the RIGHT stuff for your most current game/ep/whatever... I didn't know the best way to do the back up or if I NEED to delete my older versions of insim or inteen until new versions are released.  Perhaps it is that I am stuck with dial-up going at a blazing 29 kbps here = but the pages often lock up and I admit I might have missed something in the process.  I again apologize if I didn't "get it" and am not as smart or computer savvy as some here are.

As for all my recent posts---

I had this nifty message at the top of my screen about "you haven't posted for awhile... why don't you ask a question etc..." so I decided to stop being so quiet and do some posting. I did after all have a few questions and things I was confused about.

BAD IDEA I guess I should have kept my stupid mouth shut.

When I read something like this I have to ask myself: "Why do I bother?????"

EXCUSE ME and PLEASE FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE and MY NERVE at bothering to ask a question... I thought that is what these forums were for and I REALLY apologize if I posted this in the wrong spot... and by the way I did say to disregard my original post and I did state that it was a silly question and that I wasn't sure if it was even in the right place.

I can assure you I will NEVER post anything here anywhere on the forums again so that I don't have to be worried about making anyone angry.  In fact at the moment I am so upset that my questions bothered you so much... I am seriously considering logging out for good.

I can't say it enough- I AM SORRY, OK????

Asking questions are fine, if you are absolutely sure that it hasn't already been answered somewhere else. Inteen questions pop up all the time, despite there being info on the first page of this thread, that Inteen isn't hosted or supported on this site, with a link to its true home. The Insim has a whole section here dedicated to questions and support for that mod, just underneath Community Downloads. There is another section dedicated to help with the game, and a quick search through there will most likely answer any questions you may have. An FAQ that answers the questions you've asked is also on the front page here, and there are stickies throughout the help forums that have already answered your questions.

I don't know how or where you searched, but just how thorough were you? Compiling all these links takes a hell of a lot of work - can you really blame him for being ticked off?

Sadie is my hero! Hugs galore!

Actually, Danceswithwands PMed me with a direct apology. I also apologized to her for being so abrupt and asked her never to be afraid to ask a question here on the InSim.

Now, I ask for help! I am trying to compile as much as possible for FREE TIME. If anyone knows of any updates please let me know here. I am trying to find a link to the (free) Prima Guide (Mark, you are always so thorough in finding such info).

I have the new EP but will not add it until I know that compatibility with our beloved hacks is in order. I know that Dr. Pescado and TwoJeffs are hard at work. I just know that there will be a lot of conflicts for us.

HELP!

I also have the link to the BV patch. I am just about to update my game with it. I sort of want to wait to install FREE TIME (it looks like fun). I just want to wait till my beloved hacks have been udpdated.

From what I have read, it looks like the InSim is working for people. Sim life without the InSim is no Sim life at all!!!!!

Title: Yet another apology...

Quote from: Sadie79;1154531

I don't know how or where you searched, but just how thorough were you? Compiling all these links takes a hell of a lot of work - can you really blame him for being ticked off?

I mostly searched this site- well ok- when I say "search" that means I went to all the threads LOOKING for answers because the "search" heading at the top of the page doesn't ever work for me- it always goes to "this page cannot be displayed".  As far as being "thorough"... I did the best I could to find a "how to backup" and "how to remove/ should I remove the insimenator" type of things... but when you say that compiling all those links takes time- I'm sure it does... unfortunately NONE of the links here ever open for me.  I get the same "page can't be displayed" thing.

I feel almost certain that it is because when I click on a link it takes the blazing dial-up speed of 29 kbps soooo long to try to open the page it times out.

So, I am sitting at my pc for HOURS and not mere seconds like those of you with high-speed.  I am clicking like hell on links.  I am getting more frustrated by the minute.

At some point you kind of throw your hands up and say "I will just ask- maybe someone can show me the way..."

I admit I got to that point.  I have never had any downloaded items, hacks, or mods before this so I really felt kind of lost about what to do with this stuff before I install a new EP.

I also tried to access the FAQ but with the links not working- it wasn't much help.

SO--- I did delete my stupid questions and I did send out apologies.

NO- I don't blame him for being ticked off- not really.

I'm sure having lots of silly people asking silly questions all the time is annoying.

So, once again- I AM SORRY.

I have just decided to delete all my stuff for now (from the game) and I managed to make a backup disk after a lot of hair-pulling, cussing, and moaning.  I will hope that I can figure it out on my own later on.

I probably should have stated my question better- since in reality I understood all along that I had to have the correct version of the Insim for the correct (most recent) EP and that this site has nothing to do with Inteen.

I chalk that up to the high amount of Vicodin I've been popping lately (due to a really painful back injury).  :-P

That said, once again, I will just try to watch what I ask around here, and perhaps try to find someone with high-speed who will let me use their pc so I can MAYBE access all these links you mentioned.

Until that happens I can't see anyway to stop my pages from "timing out" before I get the information I need.

Sorry again for all the drama... I was just trying to get a "go here" or "do this".

Look, I posted my reply before Joey mentioned this had already been resolved. I do sympathise with slow connections - I have been there myself - and page not displayed errors, which still happens here sometimes.

Unfortunately, an awful lot of people still ask such questions (including the now infamous WCIF/need help with Inteen ones), and generally don't bother to look. You plainly do, that's great, but it gets hard to tell the difference sometimes.

My apologies for any misunderstandings, yours are accepted, let's just draw a line now, huh? :group hu:

Yeah in my searching I noticed that comes up a lot... even I got tired of reading "this isn't the site to post or ask about Inteen"... I see how that could be really annoying.  I REALLY do.

I installed FT 2 days ago, updated all MATY hacks, and TwoJeffs. (Here (http://box156.bluehost.com/~aestudi1/forums/inteenimater/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=993) is TwoJeffs incompatibility list and a few updates)

What works for me:
Most Squing mods (except the one with All LTW for all)
Moniques computer etc
Christianlovs all in one NPC
The mods from SimWardrobe
Inge Jones excellent Mods

and mány more... Not too bad for a totally changed environment.

TA Quasim! We need all of this info re FT. I still have Squinge's LTW mod in game and have not noticed any problem. Hopefully, someone can run the Hack Diff for that (I still have no idea how...poohbah on me).

I have been following MATY, TJ and Carrigon for updates. They are awesome!

So far the InSIm is working just fine for me. I am using the SIM edition. I know that Eric will probably have to update it, at least, for some of the new relationship goals (and then, maybe not).

Sadie, how many times can I say that I so adore you???? Well, I do!

EDIT: Merola's mind control mirror, multi-painting and dressers are all working.

EDIT II: I added a link to Barnabus' Hack Diff report. I printed it. It has a lot of positive info.

currently insim SIM & DEST fubarrs the bug hunting and bird watching (OBJ is OK for these), also there's something glitchy with the reproductive adjustor so there are some problems there but at least it's not spawning microwaves all over the place like it did after the release of one of the other EPs!

my hackdiff showed the following are clean and I currently have them all in the game:

sneak here enabled
ancient highway's BV nerfs from the inteen site
all pee in shower
all sims walk sexy
any LTW for all
c boy's most excellent male bodily addition!
all decorgal's animation/talk hacks
hula dance
look at me NOW
Monique's super computer - obviously the new hobbies aren't available, edit: also you can't blog, browse web or have game competitions
no autonomous take out trash
no hey I'm back from work
noise doesn't wake anyone up
no more gypsy visits
woohoo naked

The following came up as possibly in need of update :( so I haven't put them back in:

no autonomous dance on toes
no autonomous turn off stereo
no autonomous turn on stereo
dance smustle plus body skills
no autonomous relax

FreeTime hack
The first FreeTime hacks are starting to appear. At Paladin's place you can find a hack for changing a Sims' pre-destined hobby; The fact that it was not possible to change it, caused quite some complaints in the community. As always with hacks, use at your own risk.
Find it here: Simwardrobe.com (http://www.simwardrobe.com/)

FreeTime badges
Another update for the infocenter: A list of the requirements for Pottery and Sewing has been added.
Check it here: FreeTime Badges (http://www.snootysims.com/infoindex.php?id=freetimebadges)

@Aliwag: Thanks for the info :) *reads* ... Aaaw no, not the non-auto dancing on toes! :( That's one of my must-haves, it got so annoying with any kids in the house, that's all they'd ever do! ¬_¬

@Mark: Thanks - yeah, damn right that'd cause some complaints, so great to see you can now fix it :)

Its always great to see new fixes like that and I just saw another one from paladin as well.

New Fix: Stop All Hobby Related Idle Gestures - This fix will stop all hobby related idle gestures. Sure they were cute at first, but after a while they just got on my nerves... You can find it under FreeTime Fixes.

yep, that dancing on toes thingy is gonna drive me NUTS when I start playing my families again :(

isn't it great how we, the lowly CC-using community, manage to fix things quicker than the professionals (*cough* although I use that term very very loosely!!)

now all I need is for TJ to update his lazy & YA walk anims, I am NOT playing Uni without it!

Ditto, Ali, I am not going to UNI until TJ gets around to fixing the walk. You're right about Maxis' programmers. You'd think in all the time that UNI has been on the market they would have bowed to the community's hatred of the "ape walk" and actually eliminate it. TJ says, remarkably, they finally have fixed the toddler play with the tiolet nonsense. How many years later?????

I thought I would chime in here... if you have Monique's Hacked Bookcase installed, you may notice that parents, who should be able to read parenting books... well... it messes up somewhere along the way and deletes that action from the queue. Initially, I did not know why this was happening, but then I took that hack out and VOILA! Worked like a charm! Also, I had Inge Jones' "PermaFridge" hack installed in my game, and it caused my sims not to be able to have their groceries delivered OR EVEN buy a NEW fridge that comes with food! I figured that was the hack that was causing the problem, so I took it out and discovered I was right :).

Crissy, the link to N99 suggests that you might have to join to read the forum. It's free and well worth the effort. N99 is an indispensible aid to all things Sims...and, most importantly, it remains FREE!!!! Yea!

Most forums require that you become a member. Sim Life without MATY, MTS2, Jase, Carrigon, N99 et al. would be no Sim Life at al!

Twojeffs (at Inteen site) have a version of no autonomous dance on toes which only permits it if there is actually music playing.

Pescado (at MATY site) have a hack that stop sims from turning on or off the stereo.

Twojeffs also made an important FT bug fix mod that I suggest you all get Here (http://box156.bluehost.com/~aestudi1/forums/inteenimater/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=19).  I am about to post a direct link to it in the Sims 2 general help section and make it a sticky until a patch is out to fix that.

Joey, here's another one you can add to the list from simwardrobe.

The German Sims site has posted a new download. It's an egg-shaped radio and comes in several different colors. They have sort of hidden the object so you have to look for it yourself. The hint they gave is that it's posted on a relatively new page on that site.

Two more interesting things popped up at sim wardrobe a few days ago.

03/21/2008
"New Object: Employee Car Restoration Controller - The employee car restoration controller will allow you to assign an employee to repair the restorable car that came with the FreeTime expansion pack. The controller can be configured to have the employees paint the car in the color you select. Employees assigned to this controller will take breaks as required, provided they have access to the objects needed to do so.

New Object: Employee Coffee Maker - This industrial strength coffee maker can only be used by employees that are on the job. It is the perfect object for a break room used by employees that burn through their energy quickly.

You can find them both here: Sims 2 Objects"

Mark, thanks. You have to admit it's rather funny that the modding community already has both of these covered, and covered well. EAxis seems to be a day late and an EP short!

Oh, and rather than release new objects that are redundant maybe they should consider a patch to make TJ's Critical Fix unnecessary to gameplay!

TJ found the problem with FT immediately; Pescado found the problem with BV immediately. What's EAxis' poor excuse. Oh, wait they have no excuse; just useless additions to the game!

Sorry for being so harsh, Mark, but they deserve a lot more....and please, no one support me here as this is a hack thread and should be only devoted to new D/Ls and hack. My rant is over!

I am a bit confused. You have all EPs with the exception of OFB and BV? Your game played well until you installed Seasons? Was this a new installation? Or have you just added FT?

The BV InSIM is backwards compatible so it should work with all EPs prior to FT. It is not compatible with FT. If you have done your research you would know that most people recommend using the OBJ edition of the InSIM for FT...but use it with caution.

As far as the InTEEN is concerned, what edition are you using? This mod is NOT backwards compatible and your MUST use the version appropriate to you installation.

As a safety I would remove all of your CC to a safe place on your PC and then install the EPs. After you install all of your EPs I would put back my CC after making certain that all hacks in your game have been certified compatible with the latest EP (FT).

It is unusual that either the InSIM or InTEEN should inhibit your game (you should really direct all InTEEN related questions to their Site as it is not supported here). Most likely it is another hack that is not compliant with FT.

Sleepy I added the link to TJ's new Site.

I really enjoyed Jase's literate farewell to TJ and the InTEEN. It was actually quite comforting to read his thoughts. He has left us with no doubts as to the future of his involvment with all things Sims (of course, there will be some who, even having read his thoughts, will still want to know when he will update his creation to match future Sim releases...so sad they).

It is reassuring that Jase will keep the Site going for the next several months. I only hope that the InTEEN, in all its compatible forms, will remain available to all who want to let their teens wallow in sexual lust and suffer its inevitable sins (oh, rather literary on my part as well). Jen's WH Lite and Jase's magnificent InTEEN are necessary pleasures for those of us who like a bit more reality in our game.

Now I have to give serious thought to what Toni has written. Is there a future not only for the InSIMenator but for the Site that hosts it? It is so frustrating for so many of us to exist in limbo.

Joey, not sure if you know it yet or not, but I saw someone mention on here that the FT patch is now available on ts2 and I checked there myself just now as well and it is available at the main site so you can link to it now.

I gave in and added the link to the US Site.

Sadie, TS3 looks interesting. I have no interest in Kitchen and Bath nor the Ikea add on. I am EP and add on saturated. What do you think Apartment Life can be? If it's the last EP what could it possibly add? Maybe you can have more than one kitchen and not have your neighbors cooking in your Sims'. I have no idea!

My one concern about the FT Patch is whether Maxis addressed the problem fixed by TJ's Critical Fix hack.

Joey, I've looked through the English description on the US site, and although it makes some small fixes obsolete, the aspiration issue hasn't been mentioned, so I can only guess the answer is no :?

As for Apartment Life (if it is the fabled last EP), I'm guessing it's what someone did on MTS2? Like different families living in one block, with their own flats? :dontknow: Not sure I know either. What'd be nice is a renting system (instead of just being able to buy houses), it may be that, I dunno.

This is the wrong place to say this but say it I must! Although FT added a few nice interactive objects I don't think any of them "improved" Sim life or game play. Just the idea that we are between a Sim and a hard place with the current BV InSIM is enough for me to rue the day I took the plunge.

I guess I can understand our modders slowly ebbing away from helping to improve our game play. We have lost Christianlov, Squinge and very soon Jase will join them. It is still not clear whether our beloved Kathy and Eric will be able to muster any interest in FT (and understandably so).

Thank goodness we still have Pescado, Carrigon, Inge Jones, Rick Halle and TwoJeffs (just to mention a few that I worship). How long will they keep their interest going in the game?

I am now drawing a mental circle and slashing it! Just say NO to any new EP!!!!!! That's my motto. Now back to matters regarding EPs and hack!

Yep. 'Tis true.  Seems there was a problem because the gold sewing talent badge changes the objects file once a sim sews a new outfit......the patch it seems was looking for the original objects file and was throwing up errors on installation.  Don't know what that means for those of us who didn't have gold sewing badge sims, and so who managed to install the patch.  Will it be detrimental?  Who knows?!

Well, Kathy, while I have never attempted to call myself a know it all, I can safely say, as the author of this exhausting thread, I do know something.

My impatience with your original post stems from the frustration at seeing people ask what may easily be categorized as rhetorical (and unnecessary) questions. If you had searched for the answer to your question you would have definitely found your answer. Next time try searching a bit more diligently.

I accept your apology. BTW, did you too dodge sniper fire in Bosnia?

Something worth mentioning in this thread I think:

The new FT patch has been released. BUT according to various sources (SMBD, the more mature posters on the BBS, for example) it contains the version of SecuROM we've all been dreading will appear in Sims 3 - the one that phones home whenever you download (was going to be every 10 days), and will only let you install it either 3 times or on 3 computers, I'm still confused which one it is - remember that one? Apparently the patch is over 80MB in size (yikes!) and it's mainly down to this malware. AVOID THIS PATCH AT ALL COSTS!

So what, in fact, is this patch suppoesed to fix? And what does the "phoning home" supposedly mean? Are we putting ET's on our PCs with this patch. I am still pissed off that I added the first patch as that was a typical Maxis snafu all by itself. I am not D/Ling the new patch. TA Sadie for the heads up!

EDIT:I just checked the new patch. It is competley confusing. I really don't see any difference between what is being offered now and what was released and removed from D/L two monthes ago. The only addition may be a fix for K&B that Lord Darcy fixed long ago. Otherwise, why do I think that they are just updating the malware that they are infecting us with? Since I already have the last patch on my PC, and have no intention of adding any new EP, I will definitely pass on this one.

Phone home = connect to EA. It's a phrase I picked up from somewhere online  Basically, every time you download from the Exchange or get a new patch, the program connects to the server to make sure your copy's still legal. It was gonna be to validate the game every 10 days, but thankfully they scrapped it. They've still kept the 3 install limit though ¬_¬

The patch fixes some extra stuff that was fixed eons ago by the likes of JM and Darcy. On here (http://securom.sublimesims.net/smf/index.php?topic=79.0) there's a directory of links you can click to get said fixes.

You're welcome, BTW :)

You're welcome :)

Here's some news for you though. Even if the patch wasn't infested with a SecuROM update, from what I gather on the BBS (from a lot of mature posters), the patch doesn't even work! Issues it supposedly fixed remained after applying it, and in some cases even caused new problems.

Oh well, they're bound to get it right eventually... aren't they?

I am wondering if the blurb warning that the patch may not work with existing lots is the cause for the non-functioning problems. In any case, I am becoming increasingly "over" EA (if increasingly is even a possibility).

I have looked at Apt Life and so far am not in the least impressed. As I said, I am not buying into EP8 so I am not interested in further patching my game. Besides, from what I have read, Inge Jones has hacks that create apt living (without the need for the inevitable, additional patches...She does things right the first time!). I am off to Simlogical to investigate.

TA Sadie, I have added a link to this post in the first post of the thread.

I am so glad that I have decided not to add any new TS2 EPs or STuff Packs to my game. What EAxis unleashed with K&B and, subsequently, with IKEA is unconscionable. The problems caused by these two interim packs have nothing to do with our in game hacks. They are just untested and, consequently, horribly flawed.

Isn't it odd that our own Beta testers seem more into making the game more playable than the doufuses that EA employs to weed out the potential problems with new EPs and stuff packs?

The spamming of NPCs never should have existed in BV; the flummoxing of appliances never should have been compromised in K&B and IKEA. IKEA is especially an insult to our intelligence. Whatever existed in K&B should have been identified and fixed before the latest stuff pack was released. Lord Darcy made it very plain that this problem existed with K&B.

TwoJeffs had a fix for a critical error in FreeTime after that EP was released. How could EA not know that there was the problem with potentially reporting bogus aspirations for Sims with a secondary aspiration set?

And then there is the issue of securom.............

SSSSH! Don't ask don't tell!

I have never added the second PATCH because I am so unfamiliar and scared of the Secur-ROM crap. I am still not sure if I will add AL to my game. It really does nothing for me. The Murphy Bed is cute and so is the closet but Secor-ROM and banal game creation limits my interest!

Thanks for the heads up on SR.

PS: Since the "good" clothing designs are being distributed for those of us hesitent in wasting money on EP8. So, who knows? Maybe someone will make a Murphy Bed!!!!!!! I know Marvine already has spiral stairs for us.

Thanks for the heads-up on AL fixes - good grief, they never learn, do they?

There happens to be a SR-free crack out for AL already, BTW ;)

Oh, and I know I'm late in saying this, but I found the real reason BV 'hoods couldn't be added - it's about the empty templates. I got a false positive from Numenor's AGS, that's why I mentioned it; if you leave the 'hood templates from BV alone you'll be alright, even if you replace the others. Sorry about the false info :?

ETA: Just found this thread (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,12828.0.html) at MATY - it's a bug list for AL. The amount of things being listed is scary!

Sadie, beloved, I just found another FIX by Lord Darcy over at MTS2! I am also adding the link to the first post.

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=299597

"...good grief, they never learn, do they?"

No, they obvious don't because they obviously don't care as long as they have a captive buying public. It will never happen but just imagine if the Simmers of the world united and boycotted a TS2 EP or stuff pack on principle. It's doubtful, but maybe then EAxis would get the idea that they should pay more attention to the quality of work they offer their public. WHATEVAH!!!!!!!

It's amazing; I haven't even begun to update TJ, Eric, MATY et al. I am too busy finding out what the new EP has broken first!!!!

SimWardrobe Updates:
New Object Set: Vocational Training - The Vocational Training Controller will allow a playable sim or their employees to train other sims in skills or badges. The instructor must possess the highest possible skill in a subject in order to be able to train others in it. With this object it is possible to create a vocational training institute in your town to gives your citizens the job skills they need to compete in a global economy. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Harvested Plants Disappear Promptly - After installing Apartment Life there was an issue with garden plants not disappearing promptly after being harvested. This was causing problems with the "Harvest Many" option in addition to making my Employee Gardening Controller rather inefficient when harvesting was going on. This fix changes the global code for garden plants so that they will be removed much more promptly after being harvested or composted. You can find it on the Apartment Life fixes page here: Sims 2 AL Fixes

New Fix: Frozen Customer Fix - Under certain circumstances an OFB customer will freeze up when standing at the cash register. The frozen customer will stand there like a statue, blocking the register from further use. This often causes the next customer in line to become blocked, so they will throw down their bags in frustration. The problem is caused by the register clerk and the frozen customer becoming out of sync during the begining of the transaction. This fix should completely eliminate the dreaded frozen customer syndrome. I consider this to be a critical fix for Open For Business. You can find it on the Open For Business fixes page here: Sims 2 OFB Fixes

Sorry to hear you lost him Joey, hope life settles down again for you soon from that and school so you have time to just sit back and relax from everything going on like that.

More from SW:
New Object: OFB Wage Adjuster - The OFB wage adjuster allows you to set an employee's wage to an exact simolean amount, instead of picking something vague like "extremely overpaid" or "fairly paid". It allows you to set the wage regardless of the skills an employee has or does not have.

Object Update: Hungernator 1.1 - Version 1.1 tests to see if the sim is browsing a ticket machine and won't make them hungry if they are.

You can find them both here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Employees Don't Get Served - Sims serving a group meal on a lot with a home business will not set a place for employees who are on the job. You can find it here: Sims 2 OFB Fixes

Joey I haven't been around much with school back and my dad's cancer and all... but I popped in to check out how buggy the ep 8 might be... and saw your post about your dad.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  (hugs)

Thanks for taking the time to update the post here (with all that is going on in your rl I am surprised you managed such a great update about the ep8 issues and links for fixes- wow!)

I broke down and bought the silly thing (of course) but am NOT going to install it yet... taking a cue from you and awaiting a time when the greatest of the hacks/mods are updated and all the issues have been ironed out.  Good grief... at the list of buggies in the latest ep- it just gets worse and worse- perhaps it was a "who cares we must concentrate on Sims3 now!" type of thing... makes you wonder doesn't it?

Joey, I just went to SimPE's site and found this for AL:

"Yes, finally we got it together and have formally published 0.72 for Apartment Life. It is also suitable for earlier games and as usual has several other enhancement (too numerous to list here) over previous versions.

http://sims.ambertation.de/en/2008/09/24/simpe-for-apartment-life/ "

Mark, as always, I am indebted to you for your continued support. I have been MIA for far too long. I installed AL around the last time I wrote here and the game kept crashing so I abandoned it for RL. Now I am back, determined to make it work and update this thread and incorporate all of your amazing work. Happy Holidays! Thanks again!

UPDATE: I have started cleaning the first post. I am having problems with the editing accepting the changes. I don't know if I am going to be able to add your finds. I'll let you know.

I was glad to help out Joey since I knew RL was taking up the time for you but that sucks about it not letting you update the first post like you could before. I'll keep looking though if you want and just keep posting them like I have been, you might want to ask JMP or someone about the editing stuff though since it isn't working like before.

one more update: http://www.simbology.com/mods/index.php?dir=inteen/inteenimater/&sort=date&order=desc (http://www.simbology.com/mods/index.php?dir=inteen/inteenimater/&sort=date&order=desc)
