Title: What do YOU think of BV?
Post by: Arialonomus on September 13, 2007, 04:46:57 pm
I frainkly love this EP, as much as I anticpated it I couldn't have been more pleased, I mean the camera, the camping, the slew of new items, what MORE could you ask for (aside from fewer bugs.) And with certain nessecary hacks, things are perfect. I like it, but we want to know your opinon of the EP.

Look past all the bugs for one thing! Its a new EP there are So why don't you tell us what YOU think of the Sims 2: Bon Voyage
Edit: DOH, seems to be your calling sound. thanks MissDoh!

Edit Again: with the InSIM, things are so much better in my game, although I don't use it for the vacation memories it is really useful, I can't break myself away from it!

I like the whole EP! From the new furniture to the new interactions, I stay entertained.  The vacation site are so gorgeous, Maxis has impressed me with the new buildings. Most impressive, the ocean and the pirate ships.

Arial, I just moved your post to the right place

I love BV now that I have mods to fix the bugs.  There are many new things for my sims to do.  It is not my favorite one but it is not in the bottom of my list either.

I love bv, it tops my list of ep's right now. I just wish I knew how to get that pirate ship into resident's houses to play on lol.

I really like the 'walk to...' option. Much better than always calling a taxi. I have yet to try it in Uni, but I understand it works there too. It always irritated me that the YA's who, after all, live on campus, had to call a cab to get to the library, slackers!

Have a look out for any updated mods and hacks you use. People have had issues with outdated one's left in. Enjoy, it is fun!

The vacation trips are addictive! ( like in RL?) They really are hunting down the new memories and searching the hidden lots and learning the ways of the locals, it is real FUN !!! Great new stuff, also. Beach lots are formidable!

Looking for wise simmers to calm my sarcasmes: can somebody explain me how a game that seems to be a global bug can be sold?! I've been waiting so long for my sims to go elsewhere for vacations, spend a hot night in a famous hotel and meet people they'll have to care about for few days... angry9: I just tried to make a sim to test the new lots, and after one second in his new house, i noticed the wants panel was out of order (blue or black tiles with no want in), after an hour, the paperboy came to give me the newspaper, and came to give me the newspaper, and came to give me the newspaper, and came to give me the newspaper, and came to give me the newspaper, and came to give me the newspaper :mumum:... Then i went here to see the bugs reports to discover that there were a dozen other bugs... Well, i felt simply and completely disgusted and said: "okay Svetlana, you gotta forget theSims2 for a while...". Consider this keeping in mind that i spent (like many others) 34,99euros in that f$รน*ing stuff! Seems Maxis pulled the rope a bit much more than they should, isn't it?

Actually it seems to me that you forgot to remove your mods that aren't compatible with BV.  From your description, you still have InSimenator installed.  Not Compatible.  Inteenimater is also not compatible.  A host of other mods are compatible.

The beach is cool, but not what it could have been. There a re a lot of better looking pre-BV beach lots out there, it just does not look real; the waves and the foam are great, and I do Love the sound, but, I don´t like the color, the ocean must not be that crystalclear light blue, and I totally hate the line between the water and the sand, I´ll always photoshop this for my screencaps.

I love this EP. Yep these new vacation places give some of a real vacation feeling, so GG Maxis !
I haven't experienced any bugs Svet, it's probably for some mods you must have. Check your Downloads folder and retry a game. After I guess you will be able to have (a lot of) pleasure with this EP. :)

I love this expansion! I just recieved it in the mail two days ago though I was only able to play for a couple hours yesterday, but I already love it to death. I think the beaches are fun (I'd stopped downloading houses with "beaches" on them because I started getting too many terrain paints that were useless to me) and my sim loves making sandcastles. Honestly, what I like most is the updated attactions and such like that, I always felt it was silly that they didn't update with each expansion. And I can't wait until people start updating their jewelry to work on the new jewelry in game instead of under glasses.

I did have a bit of a misstep where I hadn't taken out my hacks. My sim couldn't walk to a lot, the lot pulled up and time passed but he continued to "arrive" without actually arriving. Since I went through and got updated mods before installing the game but didn't pay attention to which were updated and which weren't, I'm going to have to try them one at a time or look each up and see if they were updated. Again. But it's a small price to pay for my own stupidity.

Anyway, I completely give BV a thumbs up.

No, i didn't have deleted the insim' & inteen' the first time i played the ep. But unfortunately, that made me search for answers to finally discover there were several bugs ingame. Still i don't understand they could sell a failing product! Well...
I think i saw there was an update for the inteenimater, with various woohoo teen... (uncomplete?). Will the insimenator be updated soon? Please forgive my lack of patience, seems i don't realize what is making such a mod!

Well, of course the Insim will be updated soon. Unless Eric and Kathy get fed up and decide to just abandon the idea altogether because of all these people pestering them to update it as soon as they can.

As for BV, I love it, what can I say? I have a slew of hacks in my game, and of course I took care to make sure they were BV-compatible before installing them. I'm using Twojeffs' Autonomous Casual Romance, a BV-compatible version which hasn't officially been released yet since it's still in its beta-testing phase, but I can't say I've had any problems with it so far. As for Inteen, I'm not sure - I normally don't use it anyway, but there probably is a beta version of that as well at the moment.

Overall, BV is a lot of fun, apart from the lags which, from what I've read, a lot of people seem to be experiencing. My new machine is a high-performance one which I've only had for just over a month, and I've read that even people with high-performance machines aren't safe from those awful lags.

WoohooTeens for BV is available.

Neither the Inteenimater nor the InSIMenator is not yet available though.
Make sure you try to find out what mods/hacks you have that are compatible before putting them back into the game.  Many modders have been busy making updates for BV.

Haven't seen nobody "pestering them" here...

Oh, people do start up threads asking when the updated Insim will be out every time a new EP is released, and apparently Eric and Kathy do get bombarded with PMs from people asking about it as well. I can only imagine how annoying it is for them...

The price of success! But i admit i haven't taken a look at the WCIF. I guess the most requested is the insim'. It's automatic: when you get something nice, you can't do without anymore. Welcome to the holly consumer society!

From all the things I've been reading in these threads, it seems that the expansion is good, but they just shouldn't have released it so early... I'm sure that the whole money thing is good for them, but it would be nice if they at least fixed most of the problems before releasing it. I mean they're gonna have to fix them after (via a patch anyway), why give us (the ones giving them money) all this unnecessary stress trying to figure out all this stuff on our own; we paid to play the game, not to learn how to be a beta-testing person... I kinda doubt that they do, but I really hope that they read these forums.

I love this new EP - despite all the problems, I'm keeping playing. It's not the new items (I love the pyramid, but it is a bit unpractical), it's all the new options. This dramatically changed the game and I enjoy it.

It's on the tops of my list of favorite EP's, right under Seasons.  My farmers have taken a break and are all enjoying vacations right now.   I love the beach and the Far East; I haven't played the Mountain Vacation yet (I grew up in West Virginia, so their sterotypical, cartoonish mountian resort just doesn't seem like that much of a vacation to me, LOL).

I'm not sure what my favorite part has been so far.  I haven't done much reading about the actual gameplay in the community--I've been more concerned about what hacks are compatible.  So, game play has been a delightful surprise.  I love collecting "experience points" or whatever they're called when my simmies do something memoriable on vacation.  I also love beach-combing.  I think I should have one start a business selling seashells and driftwood!  :)

I think the bugs being referred to are the NPCS like the tour guide spawning multiple times, that slows down your game eventually, and also my Mrs Traveler when she went to buy jewelry she had every piece of jewelry in her wardrobe. She could not purchase any.
Otherwise it was running ok for me.

I played it over the weekend and luckily the Anti-Redundancy hack was already released so I dodged a bullet there, and the InSim was released on Monday (or maybe Sunday) so I really like it, and I'll just get the patch when it comes out.

aside from lag issues(still hunting for culprit)i enjoy it i love digging up the lot,the sim i created in the hood set up just to test this found buried treasure twice and busted the water pipe 3 times lol i think they holler worse about a busted water pipe then they do with fire.

i may have found 2 things causing my lag one got the patch mentioned above about the spawning tour guides and the second i think was a phone hack i don't remember reading anywhere that they had been updated yet.

the sism they get to meet on vaction gives a very good supply of better then townie looking my sim married a blonde he met umm i think her name was Marion hamilton i know she is new just put some new hair ,jewelry and makeup and she is very pretty. still got a lot to check out

and if my lag thing has been taken care of i may can find much more new stuff to entertain me,that coupled with new insim(still finding new features to it as well)i can stay busy with it lol

I managed to get 44 out of 45 of the momentos, the only one I had trouble with was the pirate song. Ironically, once one person learned it, nearly all my characters on townies keep singing the blasted thing. Another funny thing, my God daughter and I spent hours trying to find the treasure chest for her sim, but another of my characters found two in just under five minutes. Still, loving the game.

I don't suppose there is anything so awesome as Sims being able to swim in the ocean?  I have not got BV yet, but being able to hear and see the waves sounds great!

I haven't been playing The Sims 2 in a while...But I plan on coming back to it. I'm pretty much up to date, except I haven't bought this one yet...I also have to pull out the other games from the garage since I moved. I guess it'll be a labor of passion for control of my creations.

yes, they can swim in the ocean on beach lots and the waves look good and the sounds are good too. I love beach lots *farts hearts*  you should check out the BV picture thread in the pictures forum.

Now I think about it, the only thing I can come up with that the game is missing is music associated with the vacation areas. What I mean is that sims will do the hula to heavy metal and don't have the option to do it to Hawiian type music. Maybe some enterprising player will put everything together to change that, but it's my only real irritation.

I personally love this EP. In the original sims I've always loved Vacation. Personally, I think it's so cool. The camping. The vacation destinations. Although I think should of been more, but that's because I'm too lazy to make my own ;)

I really have enjoyed this bon voyage..I think ea games surpassed themselves with it overall..I did experience some disappointments but minor ones ..namely one can't live in those new neighborhoods and the Far East just did not have as much variety..things to do as the other 2 vacation areas..other than that I really like this expansion pack!

Hi tombstone. I'm glad you've found our corner of the internet and we'd be happy to see something from you. I have a couple of links you'll probably be interested in.

It's really fun.  I've only been on holiday once though (my 'Terra' and 'Locke' sims went to ninjaland ^^).  When I've finished the series of Sims I'm working on I think I should make them go on holiday.

I love this EP. It's really fun!

I just hate the pickpockets. D:
They get me so angry.

But other than that, I love the whole beach front houses and stuff.
