I like his face. Strong chin, slightly broad, slightly ski-jump nose, almond shaped eyes... he looks a little scary, but that adds to the allure... particularly that he's a sweet guy, what a contrast! Thankyou for letting me see his face better Hallokatzchen, it was totally worth it!

Sam is a hottie, definitely. mmm, yes, I noticed the tasty skins look better indoors or in the shade, too - the in-game lighting makes a very big difference as to how skins look in-game.

thanks. yeah, most skins have that. for playing it's ok, but for pictures it seems differend, i'm still experimenting with it. noticed that indoors (dark outside) with one of Ailias' lights from mts2 give the best lighting for the pictures. heh, love making pics of hot guys.

JeanMass, yes, Sam definitely looks better fit! Eventually, I may make the "normal" skin less muscly, so people have more of a reason to make their sims fit. And Justin is very pretty <3 Such lovely eye-candy, indeed :P

I made the skin, and figured, hell, an Elf-boy HAS to have suitable clothing. So I got this idea of covering the bare essentials with ivy. The original outfit I made is pictured here:

And then, I thought an elf would need formal clothes, so I made a roses version.  And got a bit carried away with recolors... there's going to be 6 outfits all up - 4 with roses, two without. I hope people will like them!

I'm going to actually play the game this weekend to get some in-game shots, and then I'll be sharing the elf skin, and the clothing.

Possibly the models too, depending on interest. :D

Well, I for one would love to have Mew and his hotty brother in my game, and that outfit is amazing!  I think I can tell your work so easily because it molds so well to the body form, and the shading and textures are always so vivid.  Great stuff as usual!

You did a very good job with the eyes and cheekbones on Cade, M!Z.  I normally don't like men with facial hair, but his features are so arresting that the beard and mustache enhance rather than destroy his looks. Very well done, he has the "come hither" eye shape I so adore!

I got a request for an earlier sim before, but I never uploaded Sims and have never worked with SimPE before. I already tried to work with bodyshop, but due to the great amount of downloads it takes hours to start it up. Maybe there's a tutorial on SimPE. BTW: the first's simmies hair is from the donationpart of peggysims and I don't know If I can share only the recolour without the mesh.

well...he isnt the charactor...I just named him that. His sister is a les so I named her Dykie and made her a twin brother and after he was made decided Donnie sounded like a good twin name to go with Dykie..then thought ooo,,,,darko could be the last name...it was just funny to me. Most my sims arent named just regualr american names...thats too boring to me so I name them stuff I think is funny usually...Its just a name for him. He isnt really supposta be "Donnie Darko" form the movies.

beosboxboy: I was finding that people were not respecting my wishes. Two threads over on S2C just confirmed my thought - people don't think that making sims is anything special, not like making custom content or meshes, so they don't think that it is wrong to steal, enter contests or tweak sims and take all credit for them. I was referred to as an 'arrogant hypocrite' for voicing my views - that, if I share a sim privately, I prefer that the person respect my wishes by not reuploading or entering the sim in a contest. On top of that, my GCSEs start in a week >__< and people just suddenly started being mean, saying I 'had no life' for being too strict with my sims :( Ah well. I think I will still share, but only with people I trust. (That includes you, beos ;) )

Yeah, I read that one about tweaking sims earlier, it's in the debate forum. Personally I think it stinks, taking credit for someone else's work just because you changed a few teeny tiny details, but everyone had their own ideas of acceptable I guess. Good on you for being strict, it's your work, you make the rules and if anyone doesn't like it, well bloody tough on them!
 
On a side note, bloody good luck in your GCSEs I hope you do well in them - god takes me back 18 years to when I did mine.....ACK!

Schuldig and everyone, breaches of copyright is rampant in the sims community, because nobody gets sued. I've had my texures taken a number times without credit and without permission. What I find @4#45$^%&$%#    ##$@#$@#  intensely annoying, is that surely, of all the people downloading, some of them would recognize that the recolor or sim was originally done by someone else that they had seen and downloaded before? And they don't speak up? Or let the creator know??? They must be glad to have a new thing to download, so, don't bother telling the original creator, never mind it's a ripoff, they obviously must not care. Since you guys mentioned the sim stealing... I'll share with you guys that I'm absolutely livid at the moment - today I found out that someone stole one of my shiny pants textures, and PUT IT ON A FEMALE WHICH IS WHAT I ABSOLUTELY FORBID!!! For three different outfits. It was interesting that their usage policy stated that nobody was allowed to take their textures without permission. I contacted a mod and hope they will deal with it very soon.... :( I'm very unhappy about it, because the horse has bolted already - over 3000 people have downloaded their adaptation of my work. I would have thought that at least one person would have recognized that work as a ripoff of one of my textures - it is obvious when you see it. I hope the mods put it to rights on that particular site.

Hey RMarques, I can send you the model privately... PM me with your e-mail addy. Unfortunately, he won't have skin around the eyes that look as realistic as in the picture, because... well... since making a set of realistic eyeskins, I thought, "HELL NO!" Bugger uploading the realistic eye skins on their own, they are going into my bodyskins! And I vow to make the TASTY bodyskins BETTER and MORE realistic!!! YES! ONWARDS! UPWARDS!

So... now I'm hunting for more suitable natural lips photos, so the face will look even more natural, and "normal" toned chests and backs photos so that the fit and normal states will be distinguishable, and then bring out a new, improved, MORE realistic version of the TASTY skins...

Hey, you too can have that background - or any one you want! There's a file called "userbkg.bmp" under your

\EA Games\The Sims 2

directory.

Open the userbkg.bmp file with Paint (hell, everyone has microsoft paint) or some other (better) picture editor program, and replace that (it will all be blank white) with whatever picture you want (just make sure the image is the same size, OK? Oh, and whatever you want to appear right behind the sim should be on the very far left of that whole picture file to in order to show up right behind the sim, because the rest gets covered up by the control/guff panel).

Then, when you start the bodyshop program, press the F5 function key of your keyboard to get your picture to show up.

And, if you want to be able to move your sim around in Bodyshop, hit the F3 function key of your keyboard to free the camera. Then you can zoom in, and turn the sim to face in the light better using your mouse!  :)

If you'd like my jungly thingy in particular, I'll send you the file that you can put in the appropriate place, and if you follow the above instructions, you too can be rid of the horrid red shelves and not have your sim stuck in the dark anymore.

Actually, the first two male faces in bodyshop are the bases for almost all of the most popularly regarded "sexy" male sims. For tips on what people find attractive, there's a website where they've done face studies (go look up "attractive faces" in Google, that site shoud be near the top somewhere). They have "standard" attractive faces.

I did a test with Mew, actually. I made him so that people would find him appealing (not necessarily sexy!). And made an even more feminized version of him to see to what degree people prefer feminine features on males - Miewtu. 75-80% of people prefer Mew (as a male).

Attractive men generally have somewhat feminine features (full lips, wider eyes), but, they can't look OVERLY feminine.

This is what people universally find attractive (male or female):

- Full lips (but realistically so, and balanced with the rest of the face)
- Open, Bigger, almond-shaped eyes (but realistically so, and balanced with the face)

For male, this is what I have noticed from what people say and download:

- great skintone
- realistic makeup
- hairstyle!!!!! This is extremely important, it changes the whole look of a male sim, makes or breaks the "sexy" factor
- Clothing, to a lesser extent
- How the heck you take a photo of the sim! Some sims look better in certain types of lighting, and in what pose, and expecially facial expression!

Very close-up facial shots work well if the lighting is good. This is becasue if the face seems closer to the viewer, it feels more intimate, like you are closer, and this subconsciously makes the subject more attractive. That's why the soft-lens, Hollywood close-ups are done.

The facial studies show that people presented with a smiling face directed to be looking right at them are rated as most attractive, followed by the expressionless face looking away from the person, then the non-smiling face not looking at the person, followed by smiling and not looking at the person. This is because the smile is very powerful - subconsciously, we want that directed to us, we don't like to see it directed away from us.

The rest is hard to describe with respect to features, but, none of them should be overly exaggerated, and should be well in proportion in relation to each other... see the study, it's very interesting :)

I found this info very helpful to help me improve on how my sims looked to me - they definitely look a lot better now than when I first started making them.

I'm not sure what else to do to try and make the facial skins more realistic before moving on to the "normal" body... any feedback so I can tweak, anyone?

Krayzieworld, you really went bananas with the whole background thing, didn't you? :D They really help your sims stand out.

THe only other tip is, in bodyshop, hit the F3 function key so you can move the camera around the sim freely, and get them in the best possible light using a combination of your mouse and the blue arrows in body shop to move the sim. You can even zoom in and out.

Click & hold right mouse button while moving mouse up and down to zoom.

Click and hold the left mouse button while moving the mouse around to change the viewing angle of the camera on your sim.

You will find there is one spot where the lighting on your sim will be the best.

Try it!

also, pressing alt+enter makes it full screen, for those that feel that the pictures in BS turn out too small.

I love the lighting in these shots! I highly recommend installing Gunmod's Radiance Light System (http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=101456&c=1) because it gives such realistic lighting to your game.  These night  shots were taken indoors. =)

Wow, Arcia, you make me wanna try and make a sim that is more rugged and masculine! And you are absolutely right about people having preferences - I definitely have a thing for more feminine looking guys, (which is really funny, because in real life, my man is definitely not girly looking, and is more the bodybuilder type). I find them really cute PROVIDING they do still look male (skins and body shape helps a lot) - and there's a line there. I can't define it exactly, but I know it when I see it.

Here's a sim that crosses the line - he looks a bit *too* female, but I thought he was beautiful, so I'm posting him anyway - it's Miewtu with a different hairstyle and different makeup :)

Yup, as soon as a suitable thigh boots mesh is available for males that:

(a) Is slim-fitting to the leg
(b) Has high heels
(c) Is possible to skin with high detail
(d) No distortions of the nude figure
(e) No holes in the mesh

If such a mesh ever becomes available, I will *definitely* make it available. Hopefully, such a mesh will arrive soon ;)

KSK, I love those pics of Miewtu and the other guy...so cute!  Everyone's posted such gorgeous sims since the last time I stopped in.  Great work!

I haven't had much time at all to make new guys or play, but I'm slowly building my "Midgar" neighborhood and filling it with my favorite guys from Final Fantasy 7 (or, as close as I can make them).

I've almost completed my version of Vincent Valentine, but the bandana color needs to be red and I was too tired to try and do it myself.  His clothes aren't pefect either, but I don't need their outfits to be replicas from the game to enjoy playing them.  For those who aren't familiar with the game, Vincent was once a Turk (a bit like the Mafia), until Hojo (mad scientist) performed experiments on him that resulted in his becomming something like a vampire, with the ability to transform into various demonic forms.  He's very enigmatic and serious.  That's the basic gist of it, not a perfect summary, I know.

I've created a version of Reno of the Turks as well, but I'm having trouble deciding on his hair.  The only "Reno" hair available that I know of is Plicka's mesh, and while it's a step in the right direction it's not quite what I'm looking for.  I might go with Kavar's "Roulette" hair for Reno, despite it lacking the spikey fluff on top. ;)  I'll post pics of him when I get the chance.

Thanks, Kinako.  It sounds like you have the same taste as me when it comes to playable characters I enjoyed the most.  Vincent and Red were almost always in my party, as often as I could put them in.

The hair is a recolor by Knightskykyte of Kavar's Rockstar mesh (her avatar sim is also wearing it, I believe).  It's the closest thing I've found to Vincent's hair.  I just need to make the bandanna red. ;)  His face is very hard to get right, concealed by the bandanna, scarf and his hair as it always is.  Most of it is guesswork on my part, and I may tweak him some more before I'm completely satisfied.

My party changed each time I played the game again. I'd always have Yuffie (so I could get Leviathan, though I like how she performs in battle, too) and then I'd either have Red XIII or Tifa or, depending on my mood, I might put in someone different.

Anyway, back on-topic. I agree that the headband should be red, but I'd probably like to have the one he's wearing now for another sim. I think I'm inspired to try to make Axel now. I just need to find a black robe for him.

Oh wow, thank you for pointing me in that direction, Schuldig!  I was looking at that hair and thinking how perfect it is for a specific sim of mine, and now I can try it out and see if it'll look as good on him as I think it will.  It seems closer than any other hair I've found to what his hair is meant to look like.
