Title: Placement of items on diagonal wall
Post by: adalita on November 23, 2007, 04:53:45 pm
I've tried everything to get windows and doors to be placed on a diagonal wall any suggestions?  I've tried the boolProp SanpObjectsToGrid false

boolProp allow45DegreeAngleOfRotation true

I am really stuck!

:help:

You should be able to place windows and doors diagonally without any cheat. IF the window/door has a diagonal mesh. Far as I know, all of Maxis objects do, but there are some custom meshes that don't.

So... what kind of windows/doors do you try to place, original or custom? Did this happen suddenly, or only recently? After installation of a new EP? And did you try to take out your downloads and try again?

Did you try to take out your downloads?
When did the problem first occur?

I have no idea - I haven't built with diagonal walls in forever!

Please, if you want to be helped, read what you are asked and answer the question.

So for the third time: did you take out your downloads and try it without them?

If you have the snaptogrid false and moveobjects on cheats activated door and window placement won't work.

And you don't have any objects on the other side of the wall or too close to it?
And all cheats disabled?
And is it only on one lot or did you try placing diagonal windows on another lot for testing purposes?

In another thread I read that no cd hacks can cause building problems - do you use one of those?

See my suggestion above. Both Wednesday and I have asked about your cheats.

Another thing: Are you having trouble with all doors and windows (cc and maxis) or just cc? Some custom windows and doors don't have the diagonal mesh.

Apparently she tried Maxis windows and doors.

But she keeps answering one question at a time, even after I asked her to read carefully. I'm starting to wonder if she does it on purpose...
So now I am done with this topic, before I say something I'll regret later. :(

My bad, I didn't catch that part in the beginning.

Well, something is interefering with the window and door placement. If you've rennovated your house without removing the old roof, then it will get in the way of anything you might want to place in the new room you built, because it's still there. Try removing your roof and seeing if this still happens.

I've tried walls without roofs and it still does the same thing! I have removed my download folder and tried it and it still happened.  There is nothing interfering with the walls as I tested via placing a new section of wall outside the house and putting a maxis window in it!
No cheats are activated.  Although my windows won't go in at all when I first enter the lot but work with boolProp snapObjectsToGrid True.

And I was not NOT answering your questions I thought I had already covered it in what I said!

Is it all houses or just that one lot?

  Hmm... do you have any configuration mods in your game? (like replacement ".txt" files that add new wall types, enables foundations to use doors/windows, etc.)

If not, you might have something up with your user startup cheats... quoted from MTS2 Wiki Game Help section:

Quote
If you switch the cheats off but then find that your objects will not snap to grid when you restart the game, then you most likely have a userstartup.cheat file with the cheat code in it. To delete the file, or to just remove the snapObjects/moveObjects lines from the file, please see Game Help:Userstartup.cheat (http://www.modthesims2.com/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Userstartup.cheat).

Not sure if this is what's going on, but it's worth a shot.
