http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Home.2.0.html

I just discovered this today, but it seems like a good 3d image creator(maybe mesh just started playing with it) and animation creator.
its free becuase its under the gnu.

Thanks Aaron....I'm going to move this to the general modding section as it is useful to people just starting out.

Blender is a good program...but be cautioned...it does not do sims 2 obj's that have to be animated...so don't waste your time if you want to do skin meshes, or other things that move...it will not work...been there...done it many times and got totally bent...use milkshape.

I dont  plan on  using it for the sims 2, I was looking for a good program for modeling for anther game. with python you can do alot of things if you have the plug in.
But thanks for the warning.

When I was first trying to learn to mesh, I used Blender and found it to be quick and easy to learn...more intuitive then milkshape...so I do recommend it for most things!!!

For the first 30 days.  There is a one-time nominal registration fee of like $29 or something after that.

Grykon,
that explains why I can't get the bloody wardrobe to work...
it's a great program, but it doesn't like Mesh Tool

I have never used a 3d program and I have downloaded 2 so far, Milkshape and Anim8tor. Do you think Blender would be the best for some one just starting out?

nova,
that depends, really
Blender looks daunting at first, because there a LOT of buttons
but it's very intuitive to use, once you learn to press spacebar (took me ages to find that one)
milkshape certainly looks a lot easier, and there's more tutorials for it (hooray for Jwoods :) )
I've never tried Anim8tor, and there's also Wings3d, another free program
you can always try them all and see which one suits you best
for instance, I've heard people say how easy Wings 3d is, but never got past the opening screen myself
while some people have nightmares about Blender
oh well :)

Omg if you think Blender has alot of buttons pfffft i just bought and recieved 3ds Max 7 from my brothers boss since he no Longer needs it (he bought version `8 )
Anyways i am a complete noob and at a loss for words looking at it..
will have to look for some tuts on it i suppose.

for now i will stick to Milkshape for ease of use till i get used to 3ds max

It doesn't really get any more complex (or more powerful) than 3DS Max or Maya :)  Not an "entry level" tool by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes But see I only live 40 min for you Fire So you learn how to use it and I will come learn how from you!!! I cant even get milkshape to work! lol.  I have a heard time reading the tuts and making um work, I am a very tactile learner.

Thanks chi...I've heard good things about Wings.  An animator/modeler friend of mine who used Nendo (a low-cost modeler) quite a bit said Wings was pretty decent as an entry level object modeler.
