I just had one of my female sims give birth to twins and when the box comes up asking you to name them, the first blank was highlighted and I accidentally hit the comma button on my keyboard before seeing which gender the first twin was.

So now, I have a baby named " ," and I have no idea what the gender of the baby is so I can rename it accordingly. Is there any way to find out what gender it is? I made the baby selectable and looked at it's personal info and all that, but maybe I'm missing something?

Maybe the baby hasn't decided, yet. ;)
You could always give the kid a name that doesn't indicate the gender, like Alex or something like that. When it grows up, I guess you'll find out. :)

Not sure why I didn't think of something like that.

there's another way to find out. if you have simpe or simenhancer, you could look on there. the same thing happened to me, i thought it was a girl but it was a boy so he was named Claudia until he grew up lol

And I've decided that I'll just wait for them to grow into toddlers so I can tell which gender "," is and then rename it!
