The first thing Briar can remember about her life was feeling different.

It wasn’t because of the way she looked, or dressed,or even spoke. She melted into the crowd as easily as the next girl.
She didn’t know exactly what it was, but it was something deeper.

Under her skin.

In her blood.

It was as if a part of her didn’t belong her own world.

Even in her sleep she sensed this feeling of...
disbelonging.
Gloom haunted her dreams.

The heavy smell of the earth.

Eyes glowing red and orange from the peripheries of her vision.
Redness running in the gutters like rainwater.

Screams puncturing the silence of her bedroom, the victorious roar of creatures she was too terrified of to give a name to.

Every night without fail.


It's the first (and very crappy) draft of the vampire novel I used to work on. I'm driving myself crazy not actually working on it, so I might just make it a sim story for a bit.

Whatcha think? Some of you might know Briar from her brief stint in Miss Midnight. I had to drop her out because I suck.
So, anybody want to read my fiction? As an added incentive... Nico is one of the main characters xD

I would love to read Briar's story!  I also had to drop out of Miss Midnight I was upset.  But my hard drive took a poop and had to be replaced the shop had it for like a week.
So get to writing I know others here love vampires too!

I have it written already! xD 35 chapters of vampirey nonsense. But yeah, Briar is the main character in it. And completely different to the girl who was in miss midnight.
In the beginning, she's really still a kid, she changes alot due to circumstances... being a Chosen One and all that (not a slayer, but something similar! xD)

Mim that's great that it's already written!  You are halfway there if you still have to do sim pics.  I get so many stories under my skin and then have a very hard time getting stuck at the end.  
I have decided to do shorts for awhile.  I find them much easier to do and continue since I don't have to come up with a big ending.
At first when I began reading your story I thought it might be a werewolf!

She's a dhampir ;)
But there's a lot more to it than that! I might do it yet... we'll see! :D

You know me and vampires, I'd love to read ;) Besides, this kind of thing makes for good contest practise, pictures-wise anyway. I'm still wondering whether or not to do something with this one I'm writing, but this isn't about me so I'll shut up now :angel:

She is actually, but not the way I've put it in the  contests. You actually don't see Covenant in the first book at all. There's at least three books in this series. But I don't know if they'll ever get written... because I suck.
Covenant is actually her paternal grandfather, his son Jacob was a human with recessive vampire genes, her mom comes from a long line of dhampirs/vampires... it's hard to explain... lol, so, er, yeah. She actually is his granddaughter! :D

I think it sounds like a great read!  I would certainly give it my attention.  And your first draft does not suck.  I was quite captured.

Should be a good read.
The addition of Dhampir makes it just that bit more interesting.
Do your particular breed of Dhampir have any particular vampiric weaknesses, or do they have vampire powers without the vampiric weakness?

aw, that's cute! briar is one of my fave girl's names. Briar's full name is Briar Elizabeth India Sterling. There's some uninteresting trivia for ya :D
