Title: Lagging game Post by: nappyme on January 23, 2008, 02:23:03 pm I'm hoping someone can help. My Sims 2 game keeps lagging badly. I have defragged (sp?), removed all temporary files etc, etc. The size of my downloads folder is 8.03 GB. It's driving me crazy.....what can I do to speed up my game? And just in case it's not posted below I have 512 MB of RAM.

You should really have at least 1GB.
You did not post your video card, but I'd suspect it probably could use an upgrade as well. The higher the memory on the video card, the faster your game performance will be. If upgrading computer parts is simply not an option for you, the best I can suggest is to lower your graphics settings to the minimum and remove as much CC as you can. Especially objects and meshes that have a high polygon count (these objects are usually curvy and take more processing power to render) Title: Lagging game Post by: Tenshii~Akari on January 23, 2008, 05:58:42 pm Also, by looking at your profile, it seems you have all EPs and SPs. Have you heard of the problem with Bon Voyage and the Sims 2 Launcher? This is what usually causes the lag for the game.
There's a way to bypass running the launcher and just run plain old BV without it running: 1. Find the start-up icon for Bon Voyage on your Desktop (and possibly in the Start menu also). 2. Right-click on it and choose Properties then click on the Shortcut tab. 3. In the Target box, change the location to "C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Bon Voyage\TSBin\Sims2EP6.exe" 4. When you've done that, hit Apply and then OK. You should be able to run your game without the Launcher interfering with the game's performance. Hope this helps. Title: Lagging game Post by: pandasan on January 23, 2008, 06:20:59 pm Ah I never heard of that. From the first time I loaded up BV and said WTF is THIS? I went ahead and bypassed it, just for the sake of not having to press a button to play
