Title: Freetime Help
Post by: Johnny Drake on March 01, 2008, 03:05:13 pm
I got Freetime today and installed it. I took off all my hacks. The game loads perfectly fine to a neighborhood. I can even create a new Sim family. However, the game shuts down completely whenever I try to load a house. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advanced.

jonny, did you totally remove the downloads folder, or just your hacked stuff?

i took the whole folder out and it played fine, all be it crappy amounts of things to use :(

i have so far checked and a few of my things work fine (copied over into a new downloads folder)
so far, my japaneese foods got from a link thru sims libido (i think they are all sims 1 compatable, dont need any eps, so i assume stuff that is hacked to be sims1 no ep are compatable)
the Grand Trianon set from Mts2
mostly clothes and skins (enaylas havent crashed me yet, but i am not going into my custom hood till i find out whats causing this) are fine, but i have only used my build and japaneese item folders yet.

im guessing that walls and floors are safe too.
but i totally took out anything i thought might affect it (haks i mean) yet it still kept crashing. im gona have to add folders by hand..*sob*

Did anyone put in the latest BV patch before installing Free Time? On the Sims 2 site there were people that said Free Time did not include the new patch for BV on it.

Yeah I don't think it did.  I downloaded the patch a day or so before I got FT.  But it was on one computer and the game on the other.  So I forgot to move it to the other computer and kind of forgot about it until I was happily playing my freshly installed Freetime.  Then remembered the patch.  I clicked on the patch and it gave me the you have a newer expansion pack installed lecture and not the it's already up to date notice.  So I guess I have to unistall and reinstall to get rid of some of those dang BV issues.

well, my FreeTime nightmare is that the Securom bug finally got me . The game installed OK but the damn thing just would not load even though my task manager said it was running. The only way I can play it is through a no-dvd download that I found, with that in, it's going like a dream.

All my bodyshop items are fine and dandy and I put in all the hacks that I know have been updated or don't need it. I have yet to put in any objects, that's next on my list

For those of you with insim, I have it too and so far have had no problems or glitches from it. I read at MATY that having insim stops your sims from being able to catch bugs and butterflies, but my sims are doing it just fine

you can get delphys organiser or a similar tool from MTS2 and other locations. my advice is to get rid of any downloads you don't really use.  Some hacks/mods are hidden and they can interfere with the game , i know this because it happened to me too.
Have patiences as if you have a lot of files in your dlds folder it will take time.start with hacks then walls because you might have quite a lot like i did, objects next.
move any you want into another folder and try the game . you can always add them back later or wait for a updated one.

good luck

Oh gosh, seems like a lot of people are having problems with the new expansion pack.

I only deleted the hacks. Perhaps I'll have to go through with delphys organizer. Maybe I have a hidden hack, one that I accidently put in the wrong folder under the downloads?

Thanks to those of you who helped. I hope that everyone else who has problems is able to fix them as well.

This is exactly what my game does even with no downloads! Why can't EAxis make something that actually works for once?

I had the Securom problem too in which the game would never load.  I downloaded a no cd thingie.  But found that had problems as well.  So just by chance, I found that if I open My Computer and click on the CD drive that has my BV (and now my FT) disk in it then immediately go to start the game from the start up button at the bottom of my computer screen by clicking on EA Games then clicking on the icon for Free Time.  That brings up that Start button that we must now deal with.  So then I click on that.  And sure enough my game starts up.  Weird.

Hmm, it seems that all of my object downloads have disappeared from the game. I loaded a family in a new house and the game loaded perfectly. Anytime I try to get into an already established house, that is when the game shuts down on me.

Where are my downloads? That's what I want to know. All the bodyshop downloads are present as well as my wallpapers, floors, fences, etc. Except, my furniture is entirely gone.

Question - for those of you whose downloads have disappeared from your game, did you enable them after installing freetime?

Title: LOT LOAD - PULL DOWN CURTAIN ERROR???
Post by: fsinaswee on March 22, 2008, 11:59:42 am
Everytime I try to load my sims, who were already in the game I keep getting "lot load...pull down curtain" error wat the heck does that mean??? Has anyone got a solution?  I'm thinking that I'm going to have to use the hack detector thingy and erase all the hacks that dont go together and see what happens.

Oh yea does anyone know a way to get the game to load faster?

Why are all my objects gone? Argh argh argh. I didn't have all that many, just some custom staircases and other build features - but I'd seriously like them back here! Has anyone figured out what's causing this yet?

Oh, and to the person who asked, yes, I clicked the "enable" button on the Custom Content Dialog at startup. I seem to recall this happening to me before when I installed a new expansion pack, but not it being so hard to fix. At all.

I got one for you guys. I installed FT and everything was ok at first. Then I got really tired of the NPC's calling and coming by the house, so I downloaded Carrigan's hack to stop this from happening. But now my game works but when I play with the charaters, the have no motives. I mean their motives are not there. Everything else was fine, so I took it out because this was the only hack that I added. But still, no motives. I removed all hacks and the game crashed, when I finally got it going again, still no motives.
Now I'm lost, I am going to have to uninstall FT and then try it all over again. This saddens me.

is anyone else having problems with Boolprop? I just have to keep it turned off, because EVERY 2 seconds there's somesort of error. or my sims just randomly stop doing things, ex. they can't watch t.v! I say {watch- then change to moive, or show-- then boom! they pop off the couch.
Also, they can't use the same hobbie thingy(like my grammer) twice.

Ea is evil!

"boolprop" is working just fine.  The problem you're having is with mods/hacks/custom objects that are outdated causing the "jump bug".

Have you tried CEP color enabler? You can find it at modthesims2.

it's the objects, phishfood.  i had the same problem... in fact so many of my objects were outdated i just deleted them all. better to start fresh, i think.  i still have one jump bug in involving cars and woohoo and them becoming invisible... but besides that my game has been much smoother at least on my residential lots.
