Title: Morrigan, Celtic Goddess of War Post by: Artamaeus on March 05, 2008, 02:33:03 am Morrigan is the Celtic goddess of war who hovered over the battlefield as a crow or raven. She has been equated with Medh. The hero Cu Chulainn rejected her because he failed to recognize her. When he died, Morrigan sat on his shoulder as a crow.
To make this goddess appear as if she could turn into a raven, according to the myth, I gave her feathers carefully cropped from a bird picture and affixed them to a mesh. I also gave her a sinister make up job and creepy eyes, because she, according to some is also the Celtic Goddess of Fate and Death. She is a triple faced divinity, with a Maiden, a Mother, and a Crone aspect. She also appears often as three crows, or three sisters. Your version (very nice, by the way) appears to be more the Maiden aspect, the more warlike version, the crone aspect leads away the dead, the mother aspect is a goddess of victory, by the way.
