Title: Irritating, Suicide-Inducing Music
Post by: veggiespork on March 22, 2008, 02:19:03 pm
Isn't the music for Bon Voyage obnoxious???? I mute it when the game is loading because it's so repetitive and just ear-hurting. :smt120 The music for the Sims 2 in general is pretty annoying to me. Does anyone else like the music for the Sims 1 better? In fact, I installed all of the Sims 1 music into the Sims 2 because I like it better. The Sims 2 music is too computerized and weird for me. I like the piano elevator music better. It's kind of pretty...:rabbit:

Agreed, the Sims2 music is horrid. All of it is either based off of music I don't like, which they make worse, or it's their own creation, which also sucks.

To be honest I thought of my favorite song when I read the thread's title.. LOL!

I don't think that all of the music is bad... but it does get annoying at times.  (Don't have BV, but from the way its music is being described here, my ears might be thanking you.  )   I went so far as to extract the mp3's from Sims1 and place them in my music folder.    The only tracks from Sims 2 I like are the Jazz tracks on the respective station.  That, and "Arch of the Sims" can be pretty addictive at times.  Other than that, music is pretty much turned down low in my game.

Lol, I turned music off as soon as I played the game for the first time. I even forgot it was there, until ACR caused a reset. When I heard the music, I turned my speakers off. xD
Seriously, I always just have my radio on, and ignore the existence of the music from the game. ^^

I hate almost all the songs, I like some of the jazz ones but that's it, I have about 3 gigs of my own music in game. However my kids love the music and want me to make them a cd with some of the songs on there. I told them there's no way to do it. Sue me but I couldn't bear to listen to it all day.

I don't like the music, the background noises, or the "simlish" speak. I've turned my audio OFF..permanently. I don't need to hear any more bad music..I hear enough at work, thank you!

to be honest I played both Sims 1 and Sims 2 with all the musice turned off or with sound totally disabled because I hate all the Maxis music.  For me, the worst was that zydeco crap that added in Unleashed.

The generic, elevator type music that came with the Sims 1 was slightly more tolerable, but the music that annoys me most in the Sims 2 has got to be the latin music station!(LOL,I am even part Mexican)My Simmies just turn on their stereos and dance the night away, the problem is,that headache inducing, salsa s&@! is the very first station,so even when I enter my solemn, gothic homes,it sounds like a freakin' pool party! Oh,and don't get me started on the oldies station.........:smt106

That option has been available since the main game. In the es folder in your doucments there should be a music folder and inside that folder are the station folders. That's where you add your music. After I do that I have to go in game and in sound options deselcet all of the EAxis songs. After doing all of that you can choose your own radio stations. I did mind fine.
I think ther is a more detailed tut on MTS2. Go to game play help. And if it's simple I can try to walk you through it.

I usually just mute the game music.  Its way annoying.. the sim talk and sound effect and background noise dont really bother me... but the music isnt really adding anything to the game. Plus i usually watch tv while i play, or follow a show by listening to it, otherwise i get bored. And you cant really pay attention to your shows when the cheesy music is blaring.

I like only the music from seasons repertoire and the music from the title screen with celebration
all the music in the game is horrible

I used to play iTunes when Sims2 was running, and I would mute the game. One of the songs on iTunes caused my computer to crash constantly, so Youtube's music works fine for me. Hopefully I'll get iTunes back soon, but for now I don't want to take the chance.. *shudder*

I love Simlish and the sounds fx are quite nice... The music is bad though! There are few songs that sound okay but most of them are so annoying! I end up disabling 70% of them.

I poped my Sims 1 game into the computer rencently, and I didn't remember how much better the music is in it. Like the building music is very relaxing and the buying music sounds a bit like elevator music (XD) but I find it all happy and nice. :P I looooooove Magic Town's music. <3

Anyways, you know the Sims 3 in the Sims' pc on Freetime? It has the Sims 1 music in it! I wonder if they will bring that music style back?

Most EAXIS music is a mock of the genre they claim to be praising. Like the Oldies station??? I like Oldies. I love the Beach Boys-- that EAXIS crap is a horrible parody of that era's music. I'm sure all other fans of the various genres would agree.

Heh-- and I thought I was the only one who immediately imported all of the Sims 1 techno songs in to my Sims 2 techno station. Most of my folders have tons of really good video game music converted to .mp3 format. Nothing like Aerith's theme from Final Fantasy 7 when a sim dies of starvation... I love the dissonance :)

My 'Hip Hop' channel is my 'Legend of Zelda' channel, actually.

I have LONG disabled all of EAXIS ideas of music from my game. There's this one awful song that makes me nauseous because of the way the tones undulate over and over-- came with Seasons, maybe?

I hate all of the music especially the salsa music because that's what ALWAYS comes on when the radio is turned on.

I went so far as to extract the mp3's from Sims1 and place them in my music folder.
I did the same thing!!! It's a lot less annoying.
The only music from the Sims 1 I didn't add was that Unleashed crap one of you mentioned. That was the worst music I've ever heard in my life. It gave me hives.

All the music playing in my game come from my very own MP3s. Matter of fact, everytime I buy a new album I put the MP3's into my music folders and listen. Whenever I get tired of hearing my own songs I replace them with more and more. You can even have your own music coming out of the sims radio, so why not?
When I load the game I shut the music off until I get into my nieghborhood. It's the greatest system ever.

I have a Custom Channel on my radios in the Sim world that plays nothing but the entire discography of Disturbed.
It's quite a sight to see them doing that loopy 'shake booty' dance to Down With The Sickness! XD

I had a funny glitch in my music experience.   I have tons of totally random music copied into all the folders (mostly repeating so I can hear what I like) and so a random song will play for build mode, buy mode, shopping, or whatever.    Anyway my sim got hit by a satellite and the music (instead of the grim reaper) was the wedding march!  I was cracking up so bad I let one of my other sims die because I wasn't paying attention and the song that played that time was "Don't Fear the Reaper"  which had me cracking up again.   I had to reload my lot to undo the chaos, but it was sooooo funny!

Now, now everyone. Not all the music is bad, well not to me.  I love College Rock and the Country music makes me laugh.  Well like everyone here, I imported alot of my mp3's to the game and mixed alot of my favorites from all categories into my custom station. Another good thing about FT. The only station I didn't like was the R&B, it really sucks to me. I had to put some real R&B music and my oldies are a mix of 70's rock, 80's and 90's R&B. The real stuff from my era. :D

I love almost all of the game music.

Sometimes I swap from live mode to build or buy something quickly and one of my favorite in-game tracks comes up, I actually stop to listen to it. :)

I agree, the music gets annoying. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have so much CC and it loaded faster LOL

I think it's time I imported all my Michael McDonald mp3's into the game.
I only have up to OFB, and I can't stand it.

I'm off topic with this question, but, why is the TV so freakin' loud when they turn it on? I have to turn my speakers off when decide to watch TV.

Oh, it's good to see that I'm not the only one who has almost completely revamped the oldies section. My music ranges from the 60's to the 90's. While admittedly an "old lady", I'm not THAT old, oh Sims creators!

My New Wave and Tech categories are also heavily revamped, as is my rock station. I like tech/dance music (I combined both on my Tech station), but my tastes lean towards stuff like Fatboy Slim, the Chems, Daft Punk and even Pet Shop Boys, thanks.

I hate the music too... I turn the sound off whenever it's loading or in buy mode. The BV stuff sucks. It's all so unoriginal -any 'new' music that comes with EP's is badly mixed from the base game! Argh! It's worse than the original. How do you disable it?? Pretty much the only radio station I have on is the shopping one... I never played sims 1 (well, on xbox) but the music is pretty. :D

There has always been the ability to put your own music in the Sims games.

Just rip MP3 copies from your favorite CDs (perfectly legal as long as it is for your own use and not for sharing) and insert them into the appropriate folders.

P.S. I almost used a picture from the movie The Killer Shrews
