Title: Snapshot Problems
Post by: SenkoTwiik on May 12, 2008, 01:20:40 pm
I have been having a hard time with my snapshot folder. No snapshots that I take will show up there anymore. I can take a whole bunch of them, and when I leave the game and go to my Snapshots folder, it is totally empty. And the only time a single picture will show up, it getys overwritten as soon as I take another picture.
Example:
I just took Picture A, in game, and I wanted to take 2 more. Picture A will show up in my folder, and then when I go to take Picture B, it replaces Picture A, and Picture A no longer exists. When I take Picture C, the same thing happens, and Picture B is now gone forever.
It recently worked like this, and then about 4 days ago, they stopped showing up all together. The only time I can take pictures is when another sim does it with a camera and it shows up under Neighborhoods>>G001>>Storytelling.

Has anyone had this happen before? Or does anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it? Do hacks interfere with the path the photos can take? I have no idea how to fix this or where to begin. If someone could help me, I'd be much abliged.

it's not the snapshots folder (?) but the neighbourhood folder you need.

my computer/my documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods/N00x/Storytelling

the neighbourhood folders are N001 for pleasantville, N002 for strangetown, N003 for veronaville, G001 for the neighbourhood that came with Seasons, and F001 for the FreeTime neighbourhood. N004 and out are your own neighbourhoods.
you'll find the pics in the correct folder for the neighbourhood you currently use.

you should see whether the maxis pictures are still there. if not, there might be a bug somewhere. I know FT messes some with the pictures (I get grayed out filtered pictures every time I use the drafting table) but I've not heard of the problem above. at least my snapshots always shows up.

have you tried taking out all your hacks and trying again? I've never heard of a hack/mod interfering like that but it's worth a shot.

Maybe you have a corrupted file somewhere? only answer to that I think would be a reinstall?

I just tested it a moment ago with all of my downloads removed. So I don't have a faulty hack or anything like that. I have no idea what the deal is now. I can take regular snapshots with the cameras that the sims use, and those show up in the Neighborhoods>>G001>>Storytelling folder. But when I try to do screenshots (the ones you take by pressing C on the keyboard), only one will ever show up in the EA Games>>Sims 2>>Storytelling folder. The next time I take one, it still overwrites the previous. I did a sequence of 3 pictures, and only the last one was in the Storytelling folder.

Pictures you take should be in Neighborhoods\G001\Storytelling not the Sims 2\Storytelling folder.

If you take a lot of pictures, get a program like Gadwin PrintScreen.  You'll be much happier with the results.  You can tell Gadwin where to save the pictures, too.

Thanks so much. I'll try Gadwin, because i have no idea where mine are going.

EDIT: Okay, I downloaded it from the Gadwin site, but I am not sure how to get it to work. I pressed the PrintScreen button, and it prints the screen, but all the menus on the top and bottom of my screen disappear. And no option comes up asking me where I want to save to. I know I sound dumb, but I need just a little help

Right click on the PrintScreen icon in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen) to set your options.

if you set the gadwin settings for saving the pictures in a separate folder, and not to lay down the game, then it goes a lot easier. no interruptions at all. only thing is that you have to make sure Gadwin is running before you start the game. my Gadwin has been a bit annoying lately, quitting of itself before I go ingame. it's REALLY annoying since I'm in several contests right now...
