July 10, 2008 - A few people have found this not to work without Free Time. I have added a version without the code for the enthusiam, which was causing it not to work for you. If you do not have Free Time you need to download the NoEP version. I have tested this in Life Stories and it does work fine.

A few months ago Kate at http://www.parsimonious.org/ (http://www.parsimonious.org/) asked me for a Hot Air Balloon that could would go up and down.  I owe the whole idea for this creations to her.  Please be sure to check her site for her "Vintage Hot Air Balloon" and about 1000 new uploads in honor of her sites 5th birthday.

My version works differently than Kate's, and is not nearly as beautiful.  The animations took me weeks to get insync.  I have found at times during the ride the sims will drop a little too low, but the actual animations are in sync so I think this may actually happen when there is a lag in my computer.  If this bothers you please don't download.  I get some complaints about my animations and frankly I'm a little tired of them.  I do the best I can with the tools I have.  Even if I were to charge for my creations, I don't feel I could get much better animations.  Milkshape only has the capability of doing 1k animations, while EA creators use Maya that has 2k capabilities.  

Entry and exit animations are my manually edit to the hot tub jumpin and out.  Credit for the idea for the outgoing sims to get ill after riding, goes to Kate's husband.

I have found a fix recolors will stay after the end of a ride...finally!

This item is found under Hobbies/Miscellaneous for $2500.  It does not depreciate.

Sims will gain enthusiam for Nature, fun and Logic skills while riding in the balloon.

Warning the ride is somewhat lengthly don't have your sims take a ride just before school or work.  The landing portion does take a little time.

I’m amazed at anyone complaining about your work, don’t let it get to you, people can be ridiculously ungrateful. You make wonderful additions to the game and dare I say it a lot better than the stuff packs EA put out, yours are so much more fun!

I am late to comment but I really can't thank Rebecah enough for her input on this tricky project & I'm pleased to see that the 'other' balloon is now available because from the same beginning they've turned out very differently. I am certain that people will appreciate the choice (certainly I suspect my design may be a bit too flowery for a lot of people's tastes and the I couldn't sort out the slot problem to make mine work seamlessly without one of the later EP's!).

Custom animations are a pest, having winced and wailed over the final revision that went into ours, I can see all why it's so limited using Milkshape *but* that doesn't give anyone any excuse to complain imo. Not that it stops anyone, but then being the charitable soul that I am, I'd give them a totally free slap around the head, possibly accompanied by a lecture, depending on how generous I was feeling that day ;)

First of all, your creation is lovely, and I can't wait to have a Sim ride in it. I have many of your creations already, and thoroughly enjoy them. Thank you for everything you've done!

Problem is ... and this is NOT a problem on your end ... what does the balloon controller look like, and where can I find it? It seems my Sims won't ride in the balloon yet (I have the noEP version), and usually, when this happens, and you see an "NPC Controller" in the Downloads folder, I know that there is usually a control object cloned from something, such as a napkin holder or CD or something like that, that has a menu of settings. You place the object on the ground or floor. Does the balloon have something like that?
