i know today is the first day it came out [here in america] but i was jus seein if anyone else got it.

i plan on gettin it friday on payday, just so i can say i have all the Sims 2 Expansion Packs [i was never really fond of the Stuff packs] but i must say Apartment life seems very interesting to me.

it kinda sucks tho cuz if im correct, i read rumors that some hacks and mods wouldn't be updated this time around and sometimes it sucks gettin a new EP when it first comes out cuz there are literally no hacks or anythin for it.

so yes. i guess this is a little discussion thread

I'll probably pick it up this weekend. But like all the others I wait until the bugs are found and the custom content is updated before actually installing it. :)

I believe today was actually the shipdate and most retail stores will have it for sale tomorrow. I, personally, will have it tomorrow.

I'll probably get it and install it asap. I can't wait for all the new stuff but it will suck to not have all my mods working then and just when got them all updated to work with FT. Oh well we can't have it all.

I'm really bad when it comes to sims expansions.  I have to have them right away.  I just hope theres no bugs.

I will probably get it the 27th or 28th. I'm super exited about all the witch stuff. as I play mostly with the bonus sims vampires zombies plantsims etc.

I donno if I will.  They have "apartment pets" that comes on the console version like snakes and such, (a pet I was hoping would come with the PETS EP...) but I can't find anywhere that they will come with the computer expansion pack....  Though Witches and Warlocks seem like a fun thing.... I'm still wanting a reptile as a pet for my simmies....

I want to get it, but don't know if I will get it right away. I will be watching the threads to see what bugs pop up.

edit: I think I will get it tomorrow and install it on my other PC, that way I won't mess up my families and lose my mods right away.

I will be able to pick mine up tomorrow at Gamestop, but will not install til my favorite mods and hacks are updated. :D

I heard when the teens become witches, their faces don't turn green like they're supposed to, just the bodies.  But the vampires in NL had a similiar issue at first, seems like a minor issue.

I won't be installing it until ACR and Inteen are updated for it..

I will uninstall UNI, anyway I only have it because I wanted to remember good ol' first Sims 2 EP, I'll just remember to recover everything.

EDIT: there isn't supposed to be a small apartment pet?

TJ has announced the mods of his that he needs to look at and possibly fixed.  ACR is not among those.

Agreed.  We are just fortunate Jase said he was going to update it since he retired earlier this summer.

I just want the witches.

The funny thing is, I don't like them as is.  I don't like the green thing, I find it too old school.  You'd think since EA does the HP games, they'd be up to date on modern fictional witches.  So hopefully it's just an overlay like the vampires and werewolves rather than a body type change like the zombie.  I just want to make it to where they turn into witches but keep their body type/skin color.

The expansion comes out in Sweden on Friday, so I'll probably pick it up this weekend.  I'll install it on my old laptop to fool around with it though.  That way, I'll keep my FT sims going until some of the hacks are updated and hopefully a patch or two for the inevitable bugs.

I'm getting ready to install it right now! :D I wasn't going to get it until I looked at the walkthrough :( The walkthrough videos always get me!

Unfortunately even if i wanted apartment life i cant have it because my computer will explode...I have the slowest graphics card accelerator (64MB) since the dawning of time and with 7 expansion packs and 5GB worth of CC and hacks, imagine what a hefty ep such as Apartment life would do.

I live in the UK so it comes out on the Friday =(

I'll probably get it this week-end, as well. But I, too, will wait to install it until the mods/hacks are updated, and (of course) bug fixes are out.

I went to my local BestBuy store yesterday and the floorperson told me they were due to be on the shelves by today at 2 pm. If there aren't to be any hacks..don't forget there's always the cheats

My cousin is workin' on a gaming magazine, so he got it and I'll install it later on! he said that there are few major bug fixes to the game, he said that loading community lots no longer takes forever!

I got it today but, can't get it to install! Can anyone tell me where I can find my driver for the video card so I can see if I need to update that? I have an ATI Radeon.

Well, I just broke down and ordered it from Amazon, should have it Friday, but probably won't install it for a while yet!

I just got it and will have to install a no-CD before running it.

I've not posted in this forum before but wanted to give you a few of my observations on what happened so far in my game.  A lot of the custom content I have does not show up when I'm in the new neighborhood for this game; however, they are all there in the other neighborhoods just like before which I find extremely odd.  Also, remember the infamous floating head in the shower because you have a custom skin, etc.?  Well, it's baaaaaack in this game but only in the new neighborhood which is another oddity to me.

I imagine all the wonderful people who have created custom content for us will be able to fix this somehow but my overall impression is that I have a "normal Sims 2" game in the new neighborhood.

I'll look forward to reading on how to fix all of this.

I re-installed the Sims and the expansions last week, so I wasn't using many mods to begin with.  So far I had to remove inteen, but that's normal.  ACR however, ACR is working alright but it has a few bugs.  Apartment Life changed the kiss menu, there's now a "dance" option and a "suck face" option under the kiss menu.  So the acr kiss options will cause an error if used.  The woohoo and flirt options ACR tosses into the mix work fine however.  

AL also added a few other dance options, and that don't make a lot of sense.  Classic Dance doesn't make any sense whatsoever.  And slow dance seems to have changed a little, could be acr causing it to be buggy though.  I'll look into that later.

The apartments and condos will cause slower systems to bog down.

But on the bright side, this is supposedly the end for the Sims 2.  So once these bugs are worked out and once the mods are updated.  They won't have to be updated again.

I just got back from target and got my copy i'll be installing it soon.

I've been playing it for awhile today. The apartments are pretty interesting, although I moved my sim into one that had a radio on the roof playing 24/7 that I couldn't remove. Needless to say, I moved my sim out pretty quick. :smt120

There's a ton of new stuff, like a cupboard which you can use to brush your teeth and wash your face, a heater, some new clutter, new paintings... there's also a huge new flatscreen TV and a little pet. :) Plus, there are all sorts of slides and climbing-racks for kids, too. People can jump rope for some fitness points and to build their bodyskill up.The new hair-additions are pretty boring, as usual.

I didn't encounter any real problems after installing, although I did remove ACR & InTeen and a few other hacks I wasn't sure about. I also had this pretty strange bug; there are all sorts of new things to learn from the bookcase (for example; fire safety, couple counseling, physiology) and after my new sim had learned all of those, she learned her normal skills like cooking and cleaning abnormally fast.

I haven't encountered any witches yet, and I have no idea how to turn my sim into one. :s I did see that HP over at MTS had put up a default replacement for their skins, though.

Pescado's on board with the learning bug already working up a fix for it.  I believe he said it stemmed from the physiology studying.

A few things to keep in mind.

When you're in apartment complex, some objects can't be moved.

For example, if you use acr and spawn the adjustor outside or in the lobby, you won't be able to move it.  You have to spawn the adjustor while you're inside of the apartment your sim is renting in order to move the adjustor around.  And of course the same thing goes for the other objects on the roof or in the lobby.

The dance under the kiss menu, still seems absurd.  But the dance option that opens a sub menu with "classic dance" listed, that appears to be hobby or badge oriented.  So I imagine as points are built up, more options are listed under that sub menu.

So, I went to Circuit City at Noon to get my copy and they weren't putting it out till 2PM and I wanted to get it there cause I THOUGHT they were giving the best deal price-wise.... HOWEVER my pregnant impatience got the best of me so I got it @ Target for a suprising 5 dollars LESS soo I was able to get my game and my favorite coffee beverage....

but I was bummed when I got home and couldn't install it so I uninstalled and reinstalled my Sims 2 but was a bit more choosy on the EP's I reinstalled. No University, OFB or SP's.. maybe near  Xmas I'll install the Xmas ones.

I just got this EP tonight and will install it after I read about the bugs.I mean after what happend too me with BV I am not taking any chances.
The box is kinda lame lookin IMO.And i'm not really into that whole witch thing,but I have a few college students getting ready too graduate so I might move them in a trashy Appartment..lol
I only a have 3 rich sims and they have homes so thier not going anywhere.
Can't wait too see the bug reports lol.

An Update: I tried rebooting my computer to see if the custom objects, etc., would finally appear and they did.  It seems that the Sim I used was an "existing" Sim (the ones that you import into the game that are already complete so to speak) and he still has the floating head(s) but at least everything seems to be working fine.

As already mentioned, don't expect exactly the same way of decorating to be used that you have done for elsewhere.  There are definitely some odd restrictions and trust me, some of those statutes look might strange in a small apartment since you cannot place them outside any longer on the apartment lots.

There's someone over on MATY that actually wants to make a hack to get rid of witches.  I'm not sure why some have an issue with supernatural creatures, maybe a religious thing?

I'm thinking about getting it. It's plausible that I might, but I dunno. It'll have to wait a bit before I get paid again. =)

Purchased it today and none of my CC shows up in it.  The Insiminator either...  :-(  It is available for direct download from http://www.eagames.com  It was supposed to be in stores today, but for some reason, every store in my city didnt receive the shipment.

While Vampires, Servos, Zombies, Aliens, Plantsims, Werewolves and whatever supernatural beings there are in TS2 et al are not used in my game, they are all still possible.  Well, my current hood does have a number of aliens because my starting family was all Knowledge sims who couldn't leave the telescope alone, but other than that...

If I get a witch, I get a witch, but I'm not trying to get one, nor am I wanting to eliminate the possibility of one.

Has anyone figured out how to edit or create new apartments yet?

Is there a cheat to edit existing apartments?

So I installed my copy and so far i'm pretty pleased just with the ammount of new items added my favorite being the huge fish tank.

I'm not surprised the Insiminator and other mods/hacks might not work. It's usually recommended to remove them until they have been updated for the new game.

I purchased it today and installed it to give it a test run.  So far I have found a couple of issues I alerted EA to.  Here they are:

Nightlife driveways do not work when the lot is designated apartmentbase.  I tried to trick it into working by lot zoning to residential and placing car on driveway then zoning back to apt.  It crashed when trying to save.

There are a few recolors of the Ergo windows in build mode; they only appear in red.  The coordinating doors are OK.

The round building in NEIGHBORHOOD DECORATIONS has been replaced with a new rectanguler building.  I like it, but I also want the old bldg back.

I keep changing my mind about getting it, I add to to my Amazon basket then take it back out again, I think I'm def going to get it when I get paid next week.  Amazon seems the cheapest so far.  When I do get it though I'm getting a witch no matter what I've already downloaded the default skin from MTS2 :rabbit:

According to the website at EAGames, you need a CD/DVD drive.

So, I'm assuming you can get it in CD format.

O.K. Guys, I got so upset yesterday when I went out & bought this and found out it was a dvd/rom instead of a cd, that I called my computer guy and he put in a dvd drive for me. I installed and it loaded wonderfully! For everyone that doesn't know: Microsoft has upgraded their DirectX software. The upgrade came out this month! I highly suggest getting it. I cant stress this enough because before I did this upgrade my game was taking about 40 min. to load. I have about 4 gigs of downloads in my downloads folder and now, it only takes about 15-20 minutes to load! Wow! Also, Make sure your drivers for your video cards are up to date. Now, the box says for ATI Radeon to be at 8500 or better...I have a 7000 and the game is working perfectly fine for me, as did BV. All stores in my area/Ohio only have the dvd version. One more tidbit..here's an ingame code to beable to build/buy on apartment lots: *ApartmentBuildBuyRestrictions (on/off) Hope this helps everyone! I am going to go play..Yay!

If anyone has a painting (or something) else for those wishing points, motives etc. that still works, please let me know.

It seems that non of the custum items I had works with the new EP. The last time only a few things worked. I do like it, also, an appartment is a lot cheaper so if you don't use cheats it would be easier to manage.

So my apartment sims can't have cars??!!  Ooooo, I think I just wasted my money......

There are apartment buildings that have garages. It's more like a townhouse or something than an actual apartment though. :)

I just got it the day EADM allowed me to download, well I had preordered it..It does suck that we wont have as many hacks to use, etc..I had a small problem with custom content so today will be the first time that I get to sit down and play-thank goodness for the help section over at MTS2,I used DDO to help me find the problem;something located in my "General Objects" folder...Anywho, I'm off to play my game-just stopping by to share my experience thus far.

Ok, I hate AL.

I tried loading the game today, the belladonna hood was the hood I've been using.  Every custom sim I had made and put into a lot, they were all gone.  All of the Maxis sims I put into lots, they still were there.  I found this be kind of odd, so I exited the game and then re-started.  The game began to crash anytime I tried to load a hood after that.  I removed the downloads folder, but it didn't help at all.  So I reinstalled everything.

It was if AL decided to revert the Belladonna Hood to the factory settings.  However, one of the apartment complexes I built using the cheat codes, that lot was still there.  So I really can't figure out what happened.  

Now one of the custom hoods I made, I loaded that up before the game had the crash issue on top of the vanishing custom sims, that hood still had all of the custom sims.

So I really can't figure this one out.  

But I'm starting over fresh with downloads, so I'm going to avoid all hacks, even non gobal ones.  That way if the problem comes back, I'll know it's AL and not anything else.

Odd though.. it ran without an issue for two days.

I played a while with no CC what so ever.  After I put CC in the two sims I had made and placed in BC were gone, along with all the Maxis families in the Sim Bin.  Looking at another neighborhood, all the Sim Bin families were still there.

I'm wondering if enabling CC for the first time is reseting the entire neighborhood, not just the sims in the neighborhood.

Remove Inteen.  It's not compatible.

Ive been playing it and its pretty cool. The witches are awesome...even though I cant figure out how to buy new robes for them =/ oh well...

I bought the game today!!!! I came home and installed it with no issues. I even created a character and moved her in to an apartment, but didn't get a chance to actually play, I just had a lot going on. So once my husband and 2 year old went to sleep I started the game again and when I selected my new sim her apartment began to load but wouldn't work. So I restarted the game and used the boolprop testingcheatsenabled true to find any issues and I kept getting all sorts of errors that I was given the only option to delete in order to move on and once I got passed all the errors an error for my new sim would pop up and reset or cancel would not work, just delete. I then went back to pleasantview and selected a family and the same thing happened, an error for each sim shows up and the option I have is to delete them. I even tried creating a new sim and in the "dressing room" errors would pop up and eventually my only option is to delete the sim and the game would completely crash. I don't know what to do. I have a lot of custom content that I use-I hate the standard maxis genetics-it looks so fake. So I guess I'm stuck.

Got it yesterday -installed it, no real issues. I did come across 2x pieces of nasty that bothers me...

1) The "apartment" door is buggy, wont work for me.
2) My beloved giant window from OFB, the Ergo-whatever, 3 tile full wall window, and its 1 tile cousin - the colour options are gone, only left with a ugly ass red frame. With both. Im really disappointed. I mean...thats the ONE thing i ALWAYS used, and now its ruined.

Apart from that everything else seems fine for now.

I think I may have corrupted the hood by using the apartment cheat.

"changelotzoning apartmentbase"

I heard that was the cheat to use in order to make a custom apartment, and it worked like a charm.  

I did delete the cache files after that, but if it was the cache files the custom sims in the other hood would have vanished as well.  

So I just think that cheat somehow corrupted the hood.

But I'm creating new families for a new hood now, but without ACR.

See what happens...

Deviancy, what kind of lot did you use that cheat on? If it was a beach lot, that probably caused the FUBAR. If not, you might have some hacks that are conflicting with the game.

All I had were a few objects from Simslice, but that could be part of the issue.  It's hard to say..

Some info for the ones who haven't seen it in the game yet, the 'Multi Painting' from Merola's Sims 2 still works. Also, the "Smart Toddler Pic" still works. I deleted all my custum items and then downloaded a few again. So far everything works for me.

I got the game yesterday.  I took out the two mods that i love the most inteen and ACR.  I kept a few and everything was working. No major bugs. I've been playing with two characters I d/l from here. I made them sisters. Well It's been a week and a 1/2 (sim days) when my superhero characters drank some expresso and then disappered. I was bugging. Where did she go?Well she's still with us, just invisible. She is freaking invisible! Well stupid me I saved the damn thing. Now what? Is she going to stay invisible forever? ho hum. I took pictures but for some reason they didn't show up in the storytelling folder. EA you Suck.

If you have NL, try turning her into a vampire with a cheat, and make her fly= (bat).  When she pops back into sim form she should revert to her normal self

I think I had a mod that screwed up my game (same sex marriage). I took it out and  ran my game. My Simslut was still invisible, but when she went to work she turned visible. Hoooray!!

When someone becomes a witch they turn green?! They can't be serious! That's lame! I *was* excited about the Witch addition. Maybe someone will come up with a mod that alters that.

Please forgive my ignorance (I don't get on the boards that often and miss alot of yummy new goodies!), but what is ACR? It sounds cool...it's fairly safe for you game I assume?

apartment life has completely screwed up for me. whenever i try to open it, a window comes up that says it's deleting files from C:\User\bally\AppData\Roaming. but the files are 0 bytes? its really frustrating cos the window won't go away even when i cancel it. any techheads have advice for me here? tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that didn't work either.. grr.

OKAY, SO FAR SO GOOD..IN MY PREVIOUS POST I WAS HAVING AN ISSUE WITH ERRORS FORCING ME TO DELETE MY SIMS (CANCEL OR RESET WOULD NOT WORK) SO I CREATED A FOLDER ON MY DESKTOP AND MOVED MY INTEEN FILES THERE BEFORE I DID ANYTHING DRASTIC LIKE UNINSTALLING EVERYTHING. I SAW IN PREVIOUS POSTS THAT INTEEN IS NOT COMPATIBLE. I STILL GET ABOUT 3 OR 4 ERROR MESSAGES BEFORE I CAN ACTUALLY PLAY, BUT NONE THAT MAKES ME DELETE MY SIMS! ALL OF MY CUSTOMS SIMS, DOWNLOADED OBJECTS, AND CHEATS ARE WORKING. JUST NO BIRTH CONTROL OR ABORTIONS! I DIDN'T GET TO PLAY LONG, BECAUSE I MOVED ABOUT 32 SIMS FROM MY CUSTOM NEIGHBORHOOD TO BC-THEY HAD REALLY INTERESTING AND INTERCROSSING STORY LINES THAT I DIDN'T WANT TO START OVER, SO I WAS TOO BUSY GETTING THEM INTO NEW PLACES AND DECORATING TO REALLY "PLAY."
SOME NEAT THINGS: I DID TAKE A BREAK FROM DECORATING AND GOT ONE OF MY SIMS TO GO ON A DATE WITH HER NEIGHBOR UPSTAIRS. THE DATE STARTED AT HER HOUSE AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DATE HE WENT UP TO HIS PLACE AND THEY FINISHED IT IN HIS APARTMENT. THE APARTMENTS ARE LIKE UNIVERISTY DORM ROOMS WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE WHATS GOING ON UNLESS YOU KNOCK AND GO IN(AND THEY CAN REFUSE YOU TO COME IN). MY SIM ALSO WENT TO A LOCAL CAFE AND THERE WAS A STAGE WERE YOU COULD SING, RECITE POETRY, OR DO STAND UP COMEDY. YOU CAN BUY SOMEONE A CUP OF COFFEE OR GET BREAK DANCING LESSONS FROM A GUY ON A CARDBOARD BOX. I LIKE THE NEW INTERACTION OPTIONS. ITS ABOUT TIME THE SIMS CAN ACTUALLY GO NEXT DOOR AND VISIT SOMEONE! IF ONLY THEY COULD SIT DOWN WITH THEIR BABIES-THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY!

If you move your sims via the Sim Bin, you just hosed your neighborhood and those sims with interesting storylines.  Their memories are now all messed up.  

The only way you could have safely moved them is packaging them before installing AL (need SimPE to extract them from the game and it's not updated for AL), then installing them after the AL installation.  But then they lose that storyline.

Hopefully you made the back up of your neighborhoods prior to installing AL, you'll be able to recover everything as it was.

I had problems with roommates and the mailbox. The problem was the buyable mailbox from http://daydream.etowns.net/. I removed the package and everything is working fine now.

I was playing last night with my romance sim (I always tried not to play them but wow they are actually really fun) and while I was chatting some lady up at the library she gave me a flat screen tv :D I thought that was a pretty neat addition to the game. My "man-whore" can furnish his apartment through women :P

Me too! I think it is a great expansion. There are a fews issues i'm facing though.

one is that i can't change my closet in the apartment. and that sux because i can't change the rack of clothes in the closet from man to woman, neither can i change the closet doors because they doesn't go with my decor.

The options for the closet is also somewhat screwed. Can't get the "change into..." only the "plan for..." option.

Much as i appreciate the landlord, he keeps popping up! Even when i lock the doors.

You can use the redesign tool to change to clothes rack and closet doors.

Pregnancy Wear Anything is messing with your closet options.

Use the mirror to change your hairstyle.

OHHHH...THAT PROBABLY EXPLAINS WHY MY ONLY OPTION IS "CHANGE FOR WORK" OR "WOOHOO" AND BY THE WAY, THEY ACTUALLY "WOOHOO" IN THE CLOSET.

No, in build or buy mode there's an icon below the eyedropper called Design Tool - R.  The R is the keyboard shortcut.  Click on it, then click on the closet rack or door, make the changes (you should be able to change both right then), and for 15 simoleans, you've got what you want.

i don't own it yet but i will soon i am sure that it will be lots of fun.

NOPE, DIDN'T HAPPEN. ACTUALLY I MOVED MY SIMS TO THE BIN AND WHEN I PULLED UP BC THEY WEREN'T THERE. I WAS MAINLY CONCERNED WITH KEEPING MY FAMILY TREES TOGETHER. FOR EXAMPLE I'LL CREATE A MARRIED COUPLE, GIVE THEM A CHILD, AND THEN CREATE A SIBLING FOR ONE OF THE SPOUSES AND A SET PARENTS FOR THE OTHER SPOUSE, SO NOW THE MARRIED COUPLE'S CHILD HAS AN AUNT OR UNCLE AND GRANDPARENTS. BEST FRIENDS WERE MERGED- EVEN SOME SPOUSES WERE MERGED WITH THE PERSON THEIR SIGNIFICANT OTHER WAS HAVING AN AFFAIR WITH AND I MOVED THE ENTIRE LOT INTO THE BUILDING BIN AND THEN MOVED THE HOUSES TO BC. ONCE THE HOUSES WERE PLACED IN BC, I SPLIT EVERYONE BACK UP INTO NEW HOUSES OR APARTMENTS AND THE FAMILY TREES ARE STILL THERE AS WELL AS MEMORIES. I'M SURE THERE WAS AN EASIER WAY TO DO THIS BUT I DID WHAT I KNEW WOULD WORK AND IT DID.:happy8:

What about memories of townies that don't exist in this neighborhood?  That's where part of the problem is.  The other part of the problem is when you moved the lot via the lot bin, it also packed up copies of the known sims that didn't move and brought them with, BUT those sims don't actually get installed.

Packaging the sims individually or with a house, and installing them back into your game is the only safe way to move the families.  You will have problems with this neighborhood.  Guaranteed.

I just wanted to let everyone that i got al at best buy today.

HUH? I DON'T CARE ABOUT MEMORIES OF THE TOWNIES. I DIDN'T REALLY CARE TOO MUCH ABOUT THE MEMORIES OF MY SIMS, JUST AS LONG AS MY RELATED SIMS WEREN'T TRYING TO HOOK UP WITH EACH OTHER AND NO ONE HAD TO RE-MARRY.THESE SIMS FROM MY CUSTOM NEIGHBORHOOD WERE CREATED A FEW DAYS BEFORE I BOUGHT AL. I CHECKED ALL THE MEMORIES ANYWAY AND THEY ARE ALL INTACT INCLUDING INTERACTIONS WITH PEOPLE THAT WERE NOT BROUGHT OVER TO BC. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT ONE SIM THAT I DIDN'T BRING OVER BECAUSE I MOVED HER FAMILY TO BC AND LEFT HER BECAUSE SHE WAS AT A UNIVERSITY, BUT HER MOM STILL HAS MEMORIES OF HER AND SHE STILL HAS MEMORIES OF HER MOM. I PROBABLY WILL HAVE PROBLEMS LATER, BUT I'LL "CROSS THAT BRIDGE WHEN I GET TO IT.":angel:

I got it the day it came out and even took off school to get get it. It rocks! I adore it, only I wish that you could have complete control of building in your own sims apartment and that it didn't need to involve cheats to make one. Other then that, the magic is cool, but still remains unexplored much by me, and I am all in all loving it!
