The Fine Print

All testers must have the proper time to dedicate to testing, and be able to report back in a clear and informative manner. As this is a testing environment, you must know how to generate, find, and post error logs. Screenshots will also be required of you from time to time. Also keep in mind you will be testing potentially unstable hacks, and undesirable behaviour may occur in your game as a result.

If you're interested, please reply below with a list of Expansion and Stuff packs owned and your experience with the game. Please also post a screenshot of a pie menu, and attach an error log if you happen to have one. Don't forget to post a schedule when you're available to test various beta mods.

If you are chosen as a tester, you will be contacted via PM with further directions. Do not PM Squinge or his moderators asking about whether you've been chosen or not. Doing so will disqualify you instantly.

We're currently looking for one or two FreeTime testers and one or two Apartment Life testers. Or more.

Hi, ComicalMuse, I would like to be a beta tester. I have every expansion pack and every stuff pack. I've been playing for quite a few years but I can't really make custom content. (Which is kind of pathetic...) But anyways, I think I know the game well enough to be qualified.

Hi, comical muse, I have all EP's and SP's. I also know how to find the error logs, how to post them and I have fraps for screenshots. I have a high intermediate level of use for the computer and for the game. I'm also very familar with SimPe too.

I would love to be a beta-tester! 90% of my hack/mods are Squinge's. I'm fairly advanced with the computer and have been playing the game since The Sims Vacation came out. I create lots at WickedSims2 and have a few here. I have all EP/SP's but do not have Ikea installed.

TheDom & Piper do you know how to find the error logs & take screenshots?

Yes I do actually, I definitely know how to take screen shots, and although the error logs don't make too much scene to me, I know the location.

If you are willing to have another tester, I am willing to be a testee.  I have ALL of the EP's, but don't have Free Time installed.  My damn DVD drive decided to quit on me.  Apartment Life is a digital download.  I have Family Fun Stuff and Kitchen/Bath SP's installed, and have the holiday digital download installed.  I can't make a hack to save my life, so I rely on others for all the cool stuff in my sim games.  I know how to post screenshots and locate and post error logs.

I would like to be a beta tester too. I have all expansion packs and stuff packs and I've been playing for about 2 years now. I know bits and pieces about creating custom content, but can only recolour and do a little meshing myself. I don't understand modding that much, but I do know how to work with hacks in the game. I know how to take screenshots and post error logs (see attachments for proof :thumbup:). English is not my mother language, but I do understand and speak it pretty well.

do you need another beta tester?  i'd like to volunteer.  i play my game on a MAC. i have all games up to Bon Voyage.  i have glamour life.  i have two versions of my game files, one with mods (which i play) and one without for testing mods before i put them in my game.  i know how to generate an error log and where to find them.  and i know how to take a screen shot.

I have a lot of time to play The Sims 2. (Way too much time!) I am competent with computers, (degree was in computing - I play with and don't work in the industry). I can find logs and take screen shots. I also follow directions very well!

I don't have any error logs to attach (only reinstalled 2 hours ago!) however they are stored in the My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs\.

Hi, I would like to be a beta tester also. I have EPs up to Freetime installed and Glamour Life, Happy Holidays SPs. I know how to generate and post error logs and use Gadwin Print Screen for screenshots.

I've been Simming since the sims 1 so I know my way around the game all to well. I have all eps and sp's except Pets which I'm working on. I have way to much free time aswell. Hope I can help :-P

I have all expansions and stuffpacks. I don't have much cc and hacks in my game. I know how to take a screenshot and save it as a jpeg image. I do not know how to get hold of the error file, but I am sure if someone explains it to me I will be able to do it then. I have tons of time on my hands, cause my kids are at school and I am not working or studying at the moment :)

I am also not that attached to families in my game at the moment, so if you need for me to test without any cc or other hacks I am willing to do that as well. :D

I have attached my Dxdiag if you would like to see what my computer specs are and I use Windows vista :happy8:

The error logs are located in the folder "My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs" & have a name like "ObjectError_N373_t206718.txt" & willing to test with no cc hmm :D

Well, that all depends on if I can find the keys to my basement so we can let him out. Can't for the life of me remember where I left them...

Are you sure you're at the right Dungeon Headquarters? We don't have satellite offices in either Welly, Auckland or Christchurch at the moment.

Ours is located up here in Jenna's basement out east in the middle of the US and a bit north of the South.

I am in muwhahahaha...Oh, is that a whip??? I am onto it, busy setting up my testing neighborhood, was not sure what was required, now I do. Will update with my findings at headquarters later.

Potential crash test dummy/beta tester reporting for recruiting :)

I have all EPs and all SPs except the Holiday SP(s). The attached pie menu (self-click) and error log are from a game where the only hack is the alien eye fix. However, I am willing to test stuff in both a totally clean game as well as in one with my full complement of hacks.

Making a hood melt down does not bother me. I have been playing TS2 since it came out so I'm familiar with most aspects of the game and know what is expected of "normal" gameplay.

Although I have ALL the EPs and 7/8 SPs, I also have access to a second PC on which I can I can install any combination of EPs and SPs required. So I guess I'm saying I'd like to be considered for both AL and FT beta tester, although I'd prefer AL because that won't require sitting there for hours on end, installing EPs and SPs on the other machine :D

You can pick up Any Game Starter (http://linna.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=250555) from Numenor at MTS2 to set up the games however you want without installing the game expansion and stuff packs. I personally have two test environments set up without CC for FreeTime and Apartment Life and not have to spend hours installing and patching everything.

I know about the Any Game Starter. However, since advice is often given that any lots built using the any game starter should be only installed using Clean Installer and not the Maxis installer, I wasn't sure whether there is something different to the Any Game Starter game to a regular game. However, if an Any Game Starter environment is acceptable for testing, then I already have it installed anyway. I build my lots in using it.

ETA: I'm thinking I just proved myself to be an imbecile with that statement. But hey, that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Hello, if you're still looking for beta-testers I would be happy to test things out for you.  I have a vanilla game to test bits in.  I have all EPs and SPs.  I've been playing since sims1 days and have done a little bit of creating for sims2 over the past couple of years. Nothing major and nothing that good but it does mean I have some minor experience!

You can see a screen shot with a pie menu here (http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd344/Sims2Artists/Gayle%20Forum%20Uploads/Anes3.jpg).  When testing meshes/doing previews etc. I leave psp9 open with it set to import screen shots taken in game directly into psp9.  It provides a larger, better quality screenie than the in-game camera.

I only reinstalled a couple of weeks back so my error log is pretty clear at the moment.  The error logs are found in MyDocuments/EA games/TheSims2/logs (http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd344/Sims2Artists/Gayle%20other/error1.jpg), as you can see from that screenie I have no object error logs currently but here are my TSAudio ones (http://i530.photobucket.com/albums/dd344/Sims2Artists/Gayle%20other/error2.jpg) as an example.

When testing I use my vanilla game in windowed mode and would have boolprop testingCheatsEnabled true set.

Give us a screenshot of a pie menu and post an error log if you have one handy. It's just so we know you can supply one if needed during beta testing.

Jenna said the testers were expendab... er invaluable to the community.. But somehow they went missing as soon as they were guided through the door to Jenna's lair, supposedly on a tour before they were to report to work in your test lab.

You should ask Jenna where they are. I thought the rats looked rather well-fed. :P
