Jasper Yearly has no clue of what her life will be like in four years. She is a knowledge sim with a lifetime want to be an oceanographer. Her secondary aspiration is family. I totally forgot to get her other stats.


The limo dropped her off on a dark street with no street lights. Then she noticed a house that was dimly lit and a group a people all dressed alike walked toward her. That's when she realized she was being inducted into the LFT Society. She noticed that quite a few of her dorm mates were members.

Connel greeted her and showed her around the house. He also let her know that he was interested in being more than just her friend.

She told him that right now her concentration was on her studies and learning new skills. Connel figured he would do his best to change her mind by offering to teach her how to use the biomed station. He thinks eventually she will loosen up. Yes, she will loosen up, but only just for a smooch or two. She is constantly wanting to skill or do an assignment. I guess that is a good thing for me.

Chapter 2

Jasper neared the end of her college years and she was in love with Connel, but she still wasn't sure if he was her one true love. She is so close to maxing out her skills, but she needs to focus on her social and love life too.


Jasper graduated with honors. She changed her hair a bit before heading home. But while surfing the internet, which was acting strange, she found out the world she would be returning to was vastly different than when she left. She received a cryptic message that stated that it would be up to her and her future family to show the survivors that all will be okay. She wasn't sure if she was up to the task, but she would do her best.


Putting on a brave front. She has received a list of things she can do and things that need to be done. She arrived safely to the safehouse she was directed to. (I really hate the outfit she got stuck with)


She was allowed to bring to 3 things with her. She chose her diploma, bed and medicine cabinet. The place had a bookcase of sorts, fridge, desk and candles for light (since the power had to be reserved for refridgeration). The bathroom contained a sink and a toliet....no shower. She only hoped that soon she could at least have a shower.


Thank goodness for the mirror on the medicine cabinet, because she needs to max out Charisma. She still needs to decide on a job too. Not sure which field she should tackle.



She went out scrounging through some building rubble and stumble across a computer that only need a bit of work to get it working. At least she could start working on a novel and writing helpful articles to help others (well, once she is able to actually print).

Hooray, another Apocalypse challenge.  It's going to be fun watching how Jasper does.  I love her new look by the way.  Mohawk guy cleans up quite nicely and makes pretty babies.  He did for me, anyway. ;)

Jasper had gotten tired of eating hotdogs and hamburgers day in and day out, so she decided to work toward becoming a Famous Chef. She was eager to get started to the top of her chosen career. Jasper knew that once she got to the top she could get married and have a family, which was something else she wanted to do.


She spent her spare time writing a novel and fixing the daggum PC that kept breaking down. It seemed to her that it was taking forever to get promotions. She was getting a bit lonely and hadn't been able to find out any information about some of her college friends.


Thank goodness she had studied mechanical things, because there was no plumber for her to call when the dang sink kept breaking (from over use).


Once a week the phone would work perfectly and Jasper would randomly dial numbers of old friends. Sometimes she was lucky to find one. It was great to catch and to find out news of others who had survived. It made her work harder in creating new ways to safeguard food sources when she heard the stories of what people ate and how bad their diets were.


One evening after coming home from work Jasper heard a knock at the door. She knew she hadn't invited anyone over and dagnabit the house didn't have a lot windows to peek out of. So she had to go the door to find out who it was. She was surprised to see Harper and an old woman, who turned out to be his mother. They were traveling to his hometown and had heard through the grapevine that she lived in town. He said he was hoping that they could get something to eat and a bit of rest for a few hours. Jasper was happy to oblige, especially since she had been so lonely. Harper and his mother stayed several hours before heading out. She wished them a safe trip and told Harper to send word when they made it.


She was getting tired of not having her own set of wheels, so she traded a few hours of cooking at a shelter for a few of the guys to get this piece of junk towed to her house. She figured that she could get it running and fix up the body.


But apparently the local mob family decided that her weekly payout to them wasn't enough, so they stole her heap of junk. The thief also took the chess table and some candle sticks. They just take whenever they want and whatever they want.


Jasper finished her first novel and found someone who could actually print out a few copies. She was still working hard toward that top position in her field.


Jasper was able to get this truck from some guys who had made a home in a used car lot. She cooks for them once a week. It is a good thing to have a skill that can help you get things.


Finally!! Jasper reached the top of the culirnary career. Now she could decide who she would marry and get started on her family. They had a world to help out. She knew her biological clock only had so much time left. She hurried in to call Connel and Yates. They were her choices.


Yates arrived first and then Connel crept up on them as Jasper gave him a hug. Yates saw Connel and greeted him. He knew that he was the competition. (sorry for the dark pics)


Connel was pissed. He slapped Jasper and told Yates to leave. Yates stood his ground and threatened to kick Connel's a$$ if he did not leave and never return. He gently took Jasper in his arms and comforted her. Jasper didn't have to make a choice at all. She knew who had her best interest in mind.


Jasper asked Yates to move in with her. He accepted of course. He had missed her terribly and was now happy to be with her again. He knew that the road ahead would be rough, but they would share it together.


They decided to get married right then and there. It was time to get started on the baby making!!!

I thought she would have chosen Connel but I am glad Yates had her best interest in mind and that is the most important thing...

I was rooting for Connel, but his reaction to her hugging Yates was not something I had expected. He never reacted that way at the university, but this time it sealed his fate. I have some pics of the children and they should be posted this weekend.

Chapter 4 - Generation 2 is born


Life was so much better with Yates around. Now Jasper someone to share to cold nights with and someone to share everyday life with. They talked all the time about their days at the university. Yates told her that a few of family members survived and they were all living in old farmhouse. Jasper still hadn't heard anything from her family, but she felt that they were fine wherever they were.


Months went by and Jasper still wasn't pregnant. They tried to not to be anxious, but they knew time was slipping past them. They loved each other and they tried as often as possible to have a baby.


Jasper's belly grew and she was enjoying being pregnant. She couldn't wait to be a mom.


Jasper was able to max out Logic, which was the only one left. She spent lots of time reading and writing another novel.


She even had maxed out her gaming enthusiasm. Now anytime she played or thought about a game she glowed. It was easy keeping her happy while she was pregnant, because she wanted to write or read a novel or play chess.


In the middle of a chess game with Yates, Jasper went into labor. Since there were no doctors available, they had been studying for this day. Yates rushed to grab the necessary items to help with the delivery.


Jasper took good care of Basil. She lavished him with hugs and kisses. She breast fed him to make sure he got the necessary nutrients to make him strong and healthy.


Before she knew it Basil had grown into the cutest toddler. Yates enjoyed playing with him when he was home or not studying.


Jasper was also pregnant again by the time Basil became a toddler. She knew that she couldn't continue working and take care of two babies, so she had to take early retirement.

Babies, hooray!  And cute ones, at that!

Chapter 5


Basil is a neat child, but even when he is all stinky he has a smile for his daddy. Yates and Jasper are watching him to see which career he might be good at, since he won't be able to go to university. Yates is getting his promotions pretty regular in the Education field, but someone has to make it up the Military ladder before it will be safe for the universities to try to open up again.


Basil spends quite a bit of time washing his hands. Might be a candidate for the medical career, so they can at least take showers.


A few days later Anise grew into toddlerhood. Yates was so thrilled that his little lady was growing up. While he was playing with her she threw up on him.


Basil is happy to have someone to play with. He is excited about teaching his little sister how to play games. She a quick study and enjoys playing with her big brother. Their parents are a bit saddened that they have to grow up in world like this, but at least they won't miss what they never had. They vow to keep them safe and teach all the skills they need to survive. Basil will soon start going to school, but can only go until he turns 14 unless his dad reaches the top of the education career.

I have never played the apocalyse challenge this is interesting.  How is it different than a regular legacy?

It's a bit different and kind of hard to explain too...at least for me. In a legacy you are trying to build wealth throughout the generations, but in the apocalypse each generation is trying to restore services to the rest of the sim world by reaching to top of their career paths. Wow Aji that's really complicated!  I will definately be back here to see how Jasper is holding up.

AJ I'm dying to do a legacy but I want to do an alien one. As in arriving in a strangetown of my own warped creation, lol, but dunno if that would be against the legacy rules.
btw was Anise born really born with black hair and red eyebrows?  She is adorable!

I think you should be able to do a legacy like that. I have seen people start their legacies off with a bit of a backstory. An alien who came to change how the population looks and to create an alien/human dynasty. You really should give it a try.

Yes, Anise was born with red eyebrows and oh how I wish I could change them. But I have to clear that restriction first and it probably won't happen in her lifetime.

I might give it a go.  Aji you can change her eyebrows with insim now that she is a toddler.  Go to change appearance, makeover, then click eyebrows in makeup area look to the top and click black hairstyle to make the eyebrows switch to black ones.  Then select whateve brows you like.

Chapter 6 - Growing up


Basil spent a lot of time help Anise with her skills. He had overheard his parents talking about how it up to their family to make the world safe again. At first he didn't understand what they meant, but as he got older he learned about the disaster and how it changed their world.
 

Basil thinks he is strong enough to go out and get a job now that he is a teenager. No more school for him, since his dad has yet to reach the top of the education career path. He still has some skilling to do.


Basil started a fire in the kitchen when he put the trash in the old stove for disposal. Luckily Yates has been here before and has studied fire safety. He suggested that Basil pick up the book too.


Jasper insists that Anise learns how to play chess, she says it will combat boredness and it helps build up logic skills. Secretly Jasper wants to spend more time with Anise, because Anise is a daddy's girl.


Just before Jasper turned into an elder, she gave birth to triplets (totally forgot remove that mod before playing this family...ooopsy!) Two girls and one boy, Rosemary, Ginger and Dill. Jasper decided that all of the future generations should be named after herbs and spices, which she fell in love with in her culinary career. Rosemary is picture here. (She and Ginger have red eyebrows....must be attached to the hair mesh or something.)


Ginger is the most complaining baby I have had in a long time. Nothing seems to satisfy her. She keeps waking up the other two babies with all of her crying and screaming. They cuddle her and feed her, yet she still cries.


When Jasper ages into elderhood she has a nervous breakdown, because she didn't reach her lifetime goal. I was sad for her, but knew she would get over it eventually.


Basil tries to help out more with the triplets since his mom has gotten older. He knew he had to help them grow up well. He is also hoping to be chosen as the heir, so he figures this would give him a better chance. He had better chose the military career path, so all of the siblings could move out and help lift some of the restrictions (I am letting all children of the founder work lifting the restrictions, but only one will be the chosen heir and can marry).


While taking out the trash Basil noticed this young lady walking by, so he introduced himself to her. Her last name is Winter (I forgot the first name). Basil is starting to think about potential spouses already and he has not been chosen as the heir yet.


Ms. Winter is no fool, she has heard about the family and hopes to become a part of it someday. She knows Jasper is the one responsible for everyone being able to eat a variety of foods than they had right after the disaster. She asks Jasper to impart some of her knowledge and of course, Jasper is eager to do so. She knows this young lady could possibly become a part of her family someday.


Jasper looks at her children and hopes that she is preparing them properly for what lays ahead of them. She is now an elder with three babies and two older children. She thinks of how lucky she is to share her life with them, even in this dismal world. She and Yates have to decide who will be the heir soon, they will not consider any of the triplets since they are so very young. They both want to live to see the heir become an adult and marry.

ooh...OK I think those kids are gorgeous! I hoping the heir will be Basil he is just a gorgous teen. If he marries Winter she is so pretty too!
BTW Jasper is a lovely elder. Did her hubby age up too? and...OMG! a trio of screaming babies!  Poor Jasper...lol!

No, her husband has few more days before he ages. I am struggling with who will be heir, but I am leaning toward Basil.

Aww..maybe Jasper can dye her hair so she doesn't look too old next to her hubby!  LOL!

I haven't lifted the restriction for them to make changes to their appearance yet, I think it is the ShowBiz career that will allow them change their appearances. Perhaps I will let Anise chose that career, if it ever is the first job in the newspaper.

Chapter 7 - A crowded house

Thank goodness that Basil was old enough to help out his mom with raising the twins. They were a handful, triple the diapers and bottles. Basil did get a part-time job in the medical career, because he is extremely neat and he so wanted to take that shower that his parents keep talking about. He dreams about not sponge bathing in a sink.



Meanwhile Anise grew into a teenager and subsequently stopped attending school, since there was still no Jr. or Sr. highschool. Yates was getting closer to reaching the top of the education career ladder, but not just yet.


Since he had aged into an elder Yates figured it was high time he started writing down his memoirs for his children. He felt he should provide some sort of guidance for them once he was no longer living. They can only learn so much from the technical standpoint of things.


Yates finally became Education Minister. Now higher education is available, but no one can go off to university until the military say it is all clear. So Anise decided that she would get started on her career in the military. She joined the ROTC since she could now go to highschool.


Those toddler years go by so fast. Anise is responsible for making sure her younger siblings get a good meal. All of the girls look so much like each other, but there are small differences.


It's Tuesday, so Basil is on the phone calling Ms. Mina Winter. At first he was afraid she would be too old for him when he became an adult, but his mother assured him that there something special in the air that preserve her age until he was ready to marry her. He knew he was being groomed to become the heir, but it wasn't official yet.


Dill. Isn't he handsome. Yates showed him a book on the ocean and the fish that lived in them, so he swears that he is gonna go work in the ocean. Hmmm....I hope he can get a job in that field. Too bad he won't be able to go university.


I can't understand why these two didn't freeze while building the snowman. Anise teases Basil saying she will be the heir, but truthfully she doesn't want to be. She wants to reach the top of the military career so she move out and actually go places.


Jasper is getting up in age and she tries to spend as much time with her children as she can. She knows are days are coming to an end. She encourages Anise to read the books the she has written, because they contain lots of good information a young woman should know about.

Wow!  All those girls look so much like young Jasper!  Looking forward to Basil wooing that older woman heh heh that should be interesting!

I was hoping that at least one of the children would have Yates skin color, but I think they make have some of his bone structure. The girls are just about exact copies of Jasper with small differences. Basil definitely likes Ms. Mina Winter and he hasn't met anyone else that he likes yet.

The house was full of life and people. The Yearly-Tenniman family was growing up. There were school mates and friends dropping by nearly everyday. The children all learned that it was their fate to help rebuild their civilization.


Anise can't believe that her younger sisters where now teenagers. She gathered them all for a family photo of the Yearly-Tenniman girls. You can really see how much they look like their mom.


Jasper and Yates were very proud of all of their children and they were determined to spend time with each of them. You could find them playing kicky ball or chess almost any time of the day. Jasper was especially keen on spending time with them, because she knew that soon her time with them was coming to an end. She might not have reached her lifetime goal, but she definitely did enjoy her family life.


Basil grew up into an adult. He was a bit miffed that he wasn't allowed to go to university. He worked in the medical field as a teenager and now was able to start some hands on training to become a doctor. He was determined to make it safe to take a shower and get some form of birth control. He didn't want to have as many kids as his parents did.


When Death came for her, Jasper tried to turn back time. She wasn't going without a fight, but in the end she accepted her fate. No hula dancers and pina colada for Jasper.


Basil tried to keep his younger sisters from falling apart when they saw that their mother was no longer alive. What could he do with crying girls? He was completely at a loss. Yates had taken to bed and wouldn't get up for almost two days.


Ginger was finding it hard to deal with her mothers death. She cried all the time. Rosemary tried to console her whenever she saw her breakdown. So she hides away in the bathroom to cry alone.


Yates told Basil that he and Jasper had decided that he would be the heir. They had wanted to tell him together, but unfortunately time had gotten past them. He told Basil that he would have to marry soon and start a family. Basil was sort of stunned, but he had felt that he would be chosen as heir. He knew that none of the triplets were ready and Anise didn't really want the responsibility.


Basil told his dad that he was proud to be the heir and would do his best to carry on. He was worried that the house would be to crowded for a wife and babies, but he knew it must be done. So he called the one woman he had a crush on, Ms. Winters.


Dill was doing a bit of wooing of his own. He hoped that his sister Anise would reach the top of the military career soon, so when he was growing up he might be able to either go to university or move out and get married.


Anise grows into adulthood. She is very beautiful young lady. She knows she has a big responsibility to help finish raising her younger siblings.


Being in the ROTC in highschool helps promotes her to a Junior Officer position in the military. She knows a lot rides on her doing well in this career. People would be able to do more traveling, date and go to university. She hopes to move out one day, especially since she won't be the heir.


Ms. Winters and others join the family for dinner. Basil does his best to serve a tasty meal with the hopes of impressing Ms. Winters, whose first name is Mina.


Yates was missing Jasper a lot, but he had his daughters to talk to and to play games with. He was so happy to have all of his children with him, because it made him feel less lonely. When they were at school he waited for the bus to pull up and bring them home, but usually one or two them would have to work. Yes, all teenagers were required to find work....well, Dill was having a time of it finding a job in oceanography.


Basil had asked Mina to move in and she accepted. Yates felt this was the best way for them to get to know each other, since they could not go out on dates. Soon they were falling in love with each other. He hasn't popped the question yet, but soon he will.

Mina is beautiful!  I can't wait to see what the next generation looks like.  

I started playing this challenge again, and I tell you the medical thing was really driving me nuts.  For two entire generations all the sims did nothing but wave at me and complain because they wanted a shower - especially the children!  I couldn't even get them to do their homework because of it and they were always cranky.  I ended up cheating and buying a shower just to get their hygeine up enough to cooperate, then I would sell it so no one else could use it.  It's much worse than the food restriction, in my opinion.  I learned to live with that one.

Asral: I wished I had done the medical career first, because now I have a house full of people waving at me and complaining about taking a bath. That's why I had Basil look for a job as soon as he became a teen. It was pretty easy to deal with the one meal a day when Jasper was single, but I was afraid to try it with children involved.

I can hardly wait to see how generation 2 will look.

How did Basil manage to keep his job if he can't go to school and maintain passing grades?  I had a teen with a job once, and he got fired because he was failing school (because he wasn't allowed to go).

The food restriction isn't terribly difficult, if you plan carefully.  Sims will always eat at work or school if their hunger is half or below, so there's a free meal.  Adults and teens can meditate to freeze their stats, assuming they have enough logic to do so.  I usually prepared my one meal between 3-5 pm, having any sims who didn't work that day meditate, if necessary.  I made sure I sent all visitors home before they cooked, so they had more.  And I even made them share plates, like if two sims had finished an entire plate, and they were still a little hungry and food was left over, then they would share a plate to make sure they got nice and full.  I even counted how many bites it took to finish a hamburger!  About 14, lol.  

Weekends can be kind of tricky, especially for the kids.  My family was much smaller than yours, though.  I initially only had one child, then when she grew up she married and had one child.  The restrictions are taking a little longer, but until culinary was lifted, it helped stretch that food out.

Well, I ummm cheated...I could not figure out how to keep him from going to school (if I wasn't paying attention he went to school).....so I used Simlogical school changer and chose no school. But thankfully Yates completed the education career and he was able to go to highschool for a while....thus enabling him to keep his job.

I was scared not complete culinary first. It seems my married sims would roll have a baby so often and I tend to like large families.....so I usually accomodate them. And since there is suppose to be no birth control in the challenge I figured I would have a big family. I guess a smaller family would have helped make food stretch farther.

I found it difficult to time her first pregnancy with her off days....thankfully top of career days off worked. Now I think timing Basil and Mina's pregnancy's are gonna be tough.

Basil finally got up the nerves to ask Mina to marry him. Of course, Mina says yes. She has fallen for Basil and is so happy he finally asked. She had thought they would go on living together until she turned up pregnant. Yates had explained to her that Basil was the chosen heir and it was up to him to carry on the family name. He told her that she would have to share that responsibility with Basil. She told Yates she would be honored to be Basil wife and mother of the next generation.


Death finally came for Yates. Yet as much as he missed Jasper, he wasn't ready to leave his children. He tried to fight with the Grim Reaper, just like Jasper. His family watched in horror, secretly hoping he would win.


Death won and Jasper had no choice but to accept his fate. At least now he could be with Jasper again. Anise watch her dad go and she felt totally lost. Now she and Basil were responsible for the triplets. At least Basil had Mina, but she had no one to comfort her.


Soon after Yates death, Jasper's ghost started haunting the house. She nearly scared Mina to death. Jasper is fairly angry in her ghostly state. Mina had thought Jasper liked her.


Mina was so upset about everything. She wasn't married yet and now any children she had would never know their grandparents. She had grown to care about Basil's family and she just didn't know how they were going to make it. Basil was the head of the family and the chosen heir. Basil did his best to assure her that they would do just fine. His parents left plenty of books with tips on parenting and survival.


Basil had a talk with each of the triplets about their role in the family now that their parents were no longer with them. He assured them that he would be fair with each of them. Then asked Dill to be a witness to his marriage to Mina. Dill felt honored to stand in witness, in fact he felt a bit grown up.


Rosemary had come to Mina with a problem with a boy at school. It turns out that the boy is Mina's brother and he has a big crush on Rosemary, so he picks at her. Mina told Rosemary to ignore his jibes and eventually he will stop and actually talk to her like a real person. Mina was glad to know that the girls thought enough of her to come to her with problems. She knew she had to call her brother the next time the phone was working properly.


Basil and Mina exchange vows as Dill watches. The girls are also nearby, all hoping that someday they too will be able to move out and marry. They knew if they stayed in the family home they would not be able to marry and have children.

Mina seems to be most comfortable walking around the house in her undies. Basil has asked her to put clothes on, but she says she is hot most of the time. Poor Dill was constantly embarrassed everytime he saw her.


Mina took time on Tuesday's to call on everybody she knows. She knows Basil and Anise are getting closer to reaching the top of their career ladders and the more people the family knows the better for them all. She has even gotten word that she would get a promotion, because her reputation is growing.


Ginger and Rosemary talk about their hope of one day getting out of the house and going to college. Ginger hopes Anise hurries up and reaches the top of the military career, so she can get out on her own. Rosemary hopes that Basil hurries up to reach his goal, because she is tired of bathing in the sink.


She knew that now things could actually change in her life. She could have what she wanted a family and her own place. Now all she had to do was wait for next Tuesday to call over Cody. They had been talking regularly and he would come by for visits. Now she could go out on dates. Life was getting better.


She and Cody were in love. Anise wanted to make it official, so she proposed. Cody accepted, he was tired of living and not moving on in his life. Finally he could age and have a family.


Aah! Nothing like being picked up by your own personal helicopter. Yep, Anise had made it big. Now everyone could go on dates and kids could go off to college.


Now that the possibility of going off to college was actually real, the triplets put all of their heart into completing the homework and doing great on their jobs. They wanted to get as much scholarship money as they could. The highschool counselors said that they definitely would get at least $1500 a piece because their parents were deceased. They all dreamed of dates and meeting lots of new people. They were a little bummed out when they were told they could not live in the dorm, because apparently founding family members had to live in a house. Still they were excited.


Mina loves her babies. She enjoys playing with them and cuddling them. She knew all to soon that they would be growing up and one of them would be the next heir.


Basil did it!! He reached the top of the medical career. Now everyone can at least take a shower and now birth control was available. He hopes that Mina doesn't want to immediately start using birth control, because he wanted a big family. He wanted the Yearly-Teniman dynasty to flourish. Besides the more founding members working on getting back all of the things his parents had before the big boom the quicker it could happen.


The day Mina finds out she is pregnant again, the triplets tell her that they will be heading off to college in a few weeks. Mina is happy for them, but she sure will miss their help with the little ones. Now that Basil has reached the top of his career, hopefully they can coordinate off days so someone will always be home. Now that Anise is engaged and planning to move out, it was going to be just herself and Basil to take care of the children. Maybe Basil could just quit and stay home.....but more than likely he won't.

I like this! But uh, I will never understand that apocalypse challenge, what is it correctly, I saw the rules but since english isn't my native, I don't understand everything and I lose the will for reading it. But, how I see, I think it's hard...

Starwish001, it is sometimes hard for me to understand it too. I am doing my best to follow the rules.

Update!!

I am almost ready to send the oldest of generation 3 to college. Mina hasn't reached the top of her career yet. Basil retired when Cumin and Fennel were toddlers to be home with them, because Mina's schedule had changed. Anise has retired, so that Cody can work on his career path and she can be home with the triplets. The younger generation 2 triplets are all graduated and are starting out in their careers.
