I have learnt the hard way to backup my entire Sims 2 folder before installing another expansion pack. Then, after installation, I copy the back-up version into the new Sims 2 folder, and everything is back where it belongs.
 
This is a safe way, in case something goes wrong and you need to uninstall the new EP - always keep that entire backup folder until things have settled down. If you don't have enough space on your pc to have two Sims 2 folders (with different names!), backup to CD/DVD/flash.

Pleasure. Just remember that the mesh won't show up without a recolour.

Does it not appear on your thumbnail pictures? Try holding down CTRL while right-clicking on the thumbnails so that they can reset.
 
Often one thinks that the hair is not showing up, but it is because the thumbnails (pictures of the hair) is wrong.
 
Also - make sure that you did in fact download both the mesh, and the recolour. If you have the mesh only, it still won't work.

I run bodyshop mechanic to reset my thumbnails, because I often wonder what happened to a download, only to remember that the darned thumbnails tend to do their own thing.
