I used to do all sorts of crafting/handwork but those days are long gone, because I don't have the time or the ability any longer (long story). Just got the turkey in the roaster so it should be done in a few hours. Kiddo is playing with his gifts and I'm doing my best to ignore the fact that forty years ago this was the last holiday I'd ever spend with both of my parents. Missing people I'll never see again but doing my best to remember that this is my granddaughter's first Christmas then again, I've never even gotten to see her in person yet let alone hold her, so yeah. It's a toss-up of how I feel today, y'know???

Spending time with my son, who got to go back to school after getting sidelined with the flu for a solid week. He was one happy camper when he was finally (in his parlance, FINELY) allowed to get on the bus this morning and go. He spent the first three days sacked out asleep most of the time, poor kid.

Sounds like he's doing great, Joy, and I bet you're pleased as punch for him. My guy is reading, doing a bit of math and speaking out more, which can be kind of a mixed blessing. His sense of comedic timing has always been good and now it's getting sharper, especially when his grandmother says something while speaking with me that I disagree on. He always take my side of it and says something like, "Game over man, game over. You lose." Nothing seems to frustrate her more and she'll ask why she doesn't win and he'll just LOOK at her with that look of supreme pity that she doesn't get it and say, "Cause you're not the mama!" After that, he shuts her out.

Been missing you, glad to know things are working out! On the up side of life, my son is progressing so well it is scary, he's catching up in many, many ways. On the down side, I can no longer drive myself anywhere due to failing eyesight and no idea what's causing it. Trying to get a doctor appointment AND transport to said event is next to impossible due to conflicting schedules of the inhabitants of the household. Just hope to get one before it gets much worse, the only time objects should have a hazy fuzz around them is when you're three sheets to the wind or you are getting snowflakes in your eyes because you're out walking in a blizzard.

Taking a break between sinkloads of dishes to check in here and then go have a stick of concentrated cancer, nothing new for me. BUT, I only have about two a day, which is awesome considering how long I've had this habit (35 years tweak a bell??) and how long I've been getting off of them totally. Young ones, never start!

Believe me, hon, I KNOW how it is because I still miss my old man Magoo so much even after all of these years. I'm still just as raw now as I was the moment I lost him. We were just eleven months shy of being together for twenty years, longer than most human relationships I've had, so yeah, I do know where you're coming from. Animals are some of the best people I know because they don't presume to judge a person; they love us and accept us no matter what. Unless we smell like skunk scent and then it's "get away from me NOW until you smell human again!!" I've personally never been skunked but my Jeep was once and the smell of that floated in through the window, causing Magoo to abandon lap post haste. Poor little sucker...

Joy, your next companion will find you and when you least expect it. They're good like that. Could be you just need to hear the sound of a purr to get your heart lightened and the best place to do that is an animal shelter where the inhabitants need some affection to remind them what it is to be loved. Donate a few hours a week, maybe?? Just an idea. I think Lobo would approve because he does, indeed, sound like he was a most considerate fellow.

Looking forward to seeing Dark Shadows, Johnny Depp in almost ANY movie is enough of a reason to watch it. The boom stick line is actually a ring tone that I have on my cellphone... Gotta love Bruce Campbell, he rocks anything he's in and the more cheesy the movie plot is, the better he shows off his skills in making me laugh, which I haven't been doing for a good long time, really. Sorry I haven't been on much, it gets hard when you can't read much of the posts because your vision is fading faster than cheap blue jeans.

Four, actually. Magee got turned into road kill a couple of months ago at her new home and what really hurts is that she was pregnant. I never said anything because there were others here in deeper need than I was of comfort. *HUGS*
