Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Big problem

Hi Annika, You are probably being too impatient (one of my downfalls) and trying to add too much at once. Here's what I do. You will have to probably start from the beginning! have you got a backup of your game when you first installed it/ (with all your expansions etc. This is very important! Many times I have had to instal them all again, and it takes sooooo long. I keep 2 folders in my folder called (Sims 2 Backup (DO NOT DELETE) (that's because my hubby goes on clening things up!) One is called Sims 2 Backup (NO CUSTOM CONTENT) and the other is just called Sims 2. Inside each of these folders is "The Sims 2" Folder copied from (my documents/ea games/ the sims 2) At least in that way if the worst happens, I don't have to install them all again. Once I start from scratch I make another folder inside my downloads folder called "NEW" if the game crashes after putting new custom content into the folder, you will know it is one of the files in that folder that is corrupt. just take it out again and put half the new stuff back and half the others in another folder, maybe called (TEST) and keep halving and putting back until you find the corrupt file. I you have not added too much at a time it will not be a problem
Good Luck
Gran

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Houses not Loading?
|
on: February 22, 2009, 04:57:40 pm
|
This probably looks like a beginner question, I know, but I have been playing the sims game since the first one made. However, all through the hicups and the crashes etc etc, there has been one problem that i can't get to grips with, and that is houses not loading. I am forever starting from scratch because I have made a custom neighborhood, put about 5 downloaded houses in it where i want them, they install Ok, but when I click on a house to go into it, I just get the egg timer thing for ages and ages, and eventually have to reboot. Does any clever person know of reasons why this keeps happening. I do keep a backup of my Game, One which is when I have first installed my game and all the expansion and stuff packs (I have them all) and one which I keep trying to backup as and when I have installed custom content and the game is running Ok. Can anyone help. Gran

Now my game just freezes up when I click on the stairs icon in build mode? is there any way I can get this text file back? I don't want install all my games again, I have all the expansion packs. boo hoo

Hi, I have noticed sometimes, usually if I have added new custom content, that my game will not load.
2 Files appear from nowhere in my game folder groups cache and accessory cache
I know that if I remove them my game will start again, but can anyone explain to me why the files appear? It drives me nuts

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / A Question about Collections
|
on: January 03, 2008, 11:01:59 am

I love Collection Files! My Question is, If I download a Set with a collection file and then download recolours from another creator, will the recolours show up in the collection file?
Also, I would like to start all over again with my sims 2, as my downloads folder is suuch a mess, and I'm not sure where a lot of the objects are from and some I just don't want, but I don't want to uninstall and install again. I am in the progress of downloading all my sets again etc, but putting them in flders from each site etc. The thing I want to know is, exept for the downloads folder, which I know what to do with. Which other files do I need to remove in lots etc, so that I can start from scratch? :smt120:smt120:smt120

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / No dowloads folder?
|

Hi, Download the Bodyshop Program from the Sims2.com and intall it. Run the program and then exit it (you don't have to use it if you don't want to) now go check out your EA Games folder and you will see it has created a downloads folder for you. (I you just make your own Downloads folder, the game doesn't recognise it. Good Luck :-P
