Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Rar files

I'm sure your WinRAR is working fine. Some things to check: 1. You are putting the .package files into My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads 2. Downloads is spelled with a capital 'D'. Lower case will block Bodyshop type CC but not objects CC. 3. In Options, Game Options, the flag is set to show custom content in the catalog. Yes. I don't have any problems with getting custom content to show up and I notice I don't have any problems with zip files showing up, but for some reason not ALL of my Rar files will show up.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Rar files
|

Hi, I'm having some issues with rar files in my game. Currently I'm using WinRar 3.70 for whenever I download an rar file, but alot of times I don't SEE the object in my game, even tho I've made sure I have the "mesh". I don't know if it's WinRar not working correctly or if I'm using an outdated version or if I need to be using ANOTER Rar program, of which I don't know of another one other than WinRar. Could anyone maybe recommend one or tell me if it's something I'm not doing right? Thanks in advance. :smt120

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Object placing
|
on: August 06, 2007, 02:22:55 pm

Hi, I was just wondering how do you place more than 1 object on a single tile? I downloaded a home the other day that had already been furnished, and I noticed that whomever made the house put alot of potted plants in it and I noticed that some of the plants had more than 1 pot on a single tile, and in the bathroom area he/she was also able to put different decorative objects on top of the bathroom counter. How do you do this? Is it some sorta boolprop cheat or something? Thanks in advance. :lurk:

Sometimes I notice that people are able to turn their furniture in a "diagonal" direction, is there a mod or hack that makes this possible? And if so where can I get it?:happy8:

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How do I change a pregnant sim's maternity clothes?
|
on: June 30, 2007, 04:11:37 pm
|
Normally you can't change them once she begins to show. Whatever custom maternity outfit you put her in BEFORE she began to show, that's the one she normally wears up until she delivers. If you try and change it, the game will switch to the "default" maternity outfit. At least that's what happens when I try it...

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Keep losing entire neighboorhood
|
on: June 28, 2007, 10:24:33 pm

Hi, for some reason I keep losing an entire neighboorhood, (Pleasantville), on my sims game. I played it earlier and everything was fine..saved the game..then when I went back just now to play again, the entire neighboorhood was GONE Can someone please tell me why this happens? Like is it something I'm doing or a bad file somewheres in the game? This is the second time this has happened to me

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Game play issue
|
on: June 24, 2007, 01:43:26 am
|
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that would allow me to check for bad files in my game. I recently uninstalled all of my expansion packs and reinstalled them. Then I started a new downloads folder again, but now I notice that whenever I try and click on a character the little diamond thing over their head disappears and or when I do manage to select them they don't do the task that I give them. Please help!!

"then they drag their feet and release a bug patch roughly parallel with the next EP and misdirect our attention through a time-proven method of bait and switch so we end up getting a bigger system or new video card or higher amounts of system RAM and they poopoo us for using incompatible hardware." <<<< Exactly!! Ok Beosboxboy I'm convinced, you're some sort of HIGHLY INTELLIGENT god or something, lol. Thankyou SO much for all your help:)

WOW..okay after reading your reply Beosboxboy I feel stupid. I had NO idea that so much went into just playing the sims. I mean I recently found out as far as poly-count, but everything else that you mentioned above I'd never even considered. I do however have ALOT of things in my Downloads folder, because I'm a girl, and I LOVE pretty things, and I like for my sims houses to be decorated just as if you were to decorate a REAL home, but I didn't know that having lots of stuff in your Downloads folder can effect game play also.
Ugh and yes I also have several EPs, but after Pets, I've decided to not purchase anymore that come out. I did have a chance to look over the link that Veash supplied, in which that was very helpful, because I learned several other things there too, and when I looked up "video cards", I didnt' know they could be so expensive. I did however try some of the other steps off the link, as far as "moving" some of my sims families and not having all of them living so closely together. And as much as I don't want to, I guess I'm going to have to go over my Downloads folder and maybe clean it out. And as far as "memory", I have a brand new, but still seems to me to be crappy, Gateway comp, that I think only offers 256 MB of memory, I don't know alot about computers.
And I'm down in Texas, but thankyou Beosboxboy for ALL of your info..lol still trying to understand it, but thanks just the same.

It helps alot, Veash, thankyou VERY much for your "positive" input. I normally defrag and try to free up space, and do disk clean ups as well, but I'm going to be reading over that link you posted.
