1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Re: Help with Adoption cancellation on: January 15, 2009, 07:14:51 pm
Thanks for the good suggestions and the - bad - news.

I somehow knew this was going to be the answer.

So, instead of going the round-a-bout way, I just let it happen, committed suicide by satellite, cashed in the money and removed the memories via SimPE.

Well, you have to pay for your mistakes.....

Maybe I should make this my signature: make mistakes and bear the consequences.  Grin

Due to the discussions on TS3 with Securom and in-game ads I have played TS2 again.   Cheesy

And made a big mess: I accidentally clicked on Adoption Service and there is no cancel or stop or abort. Any other stupid action involves confirmation and/or cancellation options. Not this one.

Tomorrow comes and the baby is there - but I don't want it. I've tried building a wall, a fence, gong to work, but this "service" just drops the baby off and leaves.

And to top it off I exited with saving instead of reverting to the previous save.

How can I cancel this process, other than accepting delivery and committing suicide? But this leaves the associated bad memories etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Ooops, thanks for the suggestions.

It seems the CAS was not designed to "grow" with the resolution, so the middle bar connecting the buttons on the left with the selection window is static in size and does not expand to the right.

But look what happens when I, instead of reducing, actually increase the resolution:

Hi,

Thanks for the helpful hints.

I tried the suggestion with changing the resolution. Yes, it does push the boxes further to the right, but not until I reach 800x600. Which means everything is pixelated and the buttons are huge. Reminds me of games I played in the 80's :-)

And the resolution then stays in the game which makes it very unattractive. So I switch back to the higher resolution.

Does anyone have a better idea - or should I say: more elegant, like a CAS that caters for higher resolutions?

Am I the only one who is freaking about this?

Thanks.

Sorry if I have asked a stupid or funny question. I have searched for a remedy and not found anything. I have installed a different CAS but that did not help.

It is bugging me though, so I'd appreciate if anyone can tell me either that there is no cure or point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm back to playing Sims2. After downloading some new stuff I wanted to create some new Sims and found it very irritating that whenever I want any custom outfits or skins or clothes the right side of the screen is empty, but the centre windows are blocking the Sim.

I'm attaching a screen shot to show what I'm talking about.

Is there any way to move the windows to the right so they don't block the Sim?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi,

I hope someone will be able to point me in the right direction, as I am having trouble seeing changes in my Sim when using the in-game CAS.

Somehow, the controls get in the way and I can't see what changes I am making. I can't move them more to the right, even though there's plenty of space there.

With my resolution, the controls are in the middle of the screen and the mirror is on the left. There is precious little space left for the Sim and the various outfits. I've tried zooming out and even installed custom CAS setup's, but the controls are always in the way, blocking half the body, except, of course, in the close-up shots of head, hair, etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Now I have a reason to put plants into the garden. And around the pool. And the house. Just to keep her occupied a bit longer.....

9  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Starting CAF/CAS without SIMs or Bodyshop on: November 28, 2007, 11:08:03 am
Thanks for your thoughts. Interesting facts here.

I've now copied back my Downloads and Defaults and have under 1 Gig. Now I am stuck with a problem where I need help:

there's hundreds of files with only numbers as filename, without any description. I load them into DownlOrganis or SimPE and still can't identify what they are. Also, in the CAS, the SIM files, i.e. complete figures like celebrities don't have any info when the mouse is on them.

Any pointer how I can put picture and filename together?

Oh, here's an added dimension: some come as "default" skin with "default" clothes, so there's something missing. But how the #$!@*&)!$% do I find out what it is and what is missing? Orphan scan is 0.

With increasing frustration..........

Hey thanks for the bad news :tongue8:

As for the loading time: I only have Base+ Uni and I intend keeping it that way!

AND I emptied the Downloads.

OK, so it's back to slugging it stage for stage.........

Thanks for you help! Appreciated.

11  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Starting CAF/CAS without SIMs or Bodyshop on: November 26, 2007, 01:36:52 pm
Hi,

I am cleaning up, so I've emptied the Downloads and am putting them back one by one to see what is what. Trying each dress/shirt/skin takes a lot of time as SIMs takes ~52 secs + Neighboorhood ~18 secs + CAS ~20 secs. a waste of time and tedious. So I'm looking for a way to start the CAS/CAF directly. I have just learned from a different thread here that I have a separate Bodyshop, but this also takes a long time and has a terrible interface.

I've tried searching for a way to start the Create a Family/Create a Sim interface without starting the game itself.

Any idea whether this is possible? If yes: how?

Oh, before I forget: I've tried previewing in SIMPE, Clean Installer and Delphy's Organiser, but can't get a full body view to judge the effect of a skin/clothing.

Thanks for trying......:smt120

12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How do I sort Family Members? on: June 10, 2007, 04:18:56 pm
Ooops, my feedback disappeared.....

You guys are genius!! I never realised the connection between age and order of thumbnails. I used the Temporal Adjustor and gave them different ages and lo' and behold - they are sorted just the way I want.

Thanks for the pointer.

PS: And of course the same can be achieved using SimPE, but that requires shutting down and re-starting.
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How do I sort Family Members? on: June 07, 2007, 05:01:52 am
When joining a family member or several members from the Neighbourhood screen, they get inserted into the thumbnails in some order. I want to change that, so that Sim1 comes above Sim2 above Sim3 and not the other way around.

This also happens when I create an entire family and the order is somehow wrong. I tried searching for this and came up blank. I played with SimPE and could not work out a way of doing this.

Can I somehow change the order of family members or rather their thumbnails?

Any pointers - or am I missing the obvious?

Thanks
