ok Just to let you know i used the summoner as suggested and added him to the family tree of a close friend then i did the same with his wife and kids and it worked!!! so thanks everyone now i have my sim and his family back!

Sorry Virtualbubble, it wasn't clear. I thought of the family of your Sim stuck in holidays. They are in a normal neighborhood right ? The restore family is in the "Summoner" tool of the Insimenator. Good luck.
No you were right the 1st time my sim is acutually stuck on vactaion but he is supposed to be in his holiday home but he isn't there. I am going to try to use insimenator to get him back but haven't had a chance to with Christmas coming up! Merry Christmas

Umm sorry for the delay internet was down. Its not that i want to invite him to live in another household its just he is stuck in limbo whenever i go to his vacation home where he is supposed to be it only allowes me to be in build or buy mode. I just want a way to get him home (his family are still in thee family home and unaccesable as well).
Sorry to resurrect a some what elderly thread but i am having the same problem however my sim invited a sim that was already on holiday by accident he started to leave his lot and before he made it to the van the vacation started to load. I managed to get the sim he invited back by going to her hotel but whenever i go to his holiday home it just goes into build and buy mode. He still appears as a passer by in the neighborhood (not on vacation) and sims have had him over to visit but he cant be invited to live with them because it comes up saying that his lot hasn't been save this is because he is on vacation, he also left his family in his house so i cant access them either. I have removed all my mods so its not that. I was just wondering if you were able to resolve the problem in the end or if anyone has any new advice on how to fix this please. Sorry for the long post.
