1  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Custom Sims, Genetics & Clothes issue on: March 05, 2008, 03:24:46 am
It sounds like you have them enabled, but just have the 'Catalogs Show Custom Content' option unchecked. It should be under Game Options right next to the other custom content settings.

I would recommend sorting by item category and sub-category first, with subfolders for sites/creators, and sub-subfolders for individual creations. You'll end up with a lot of folders, but I think it makes it much easier to find stuff than if you have everything just jumbled together by creator, say (tried that once, and it got really unmanageable). I'm still in the process of putting it back together too, but my own Downloads folder looks something like this:

Build Mode -> DOORS -> Site/Creator -> Name of Door
Buy Mode
Clothes
Defaults
Genetics
Hacks
etc...

Hope that helps. Smiley
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problems with Clothing on: February 29, 2008, 06:29:50 am
It's because the creator made those clothes with a buggy, unpatched version of Body Shop. See this Wiki link for more info:
http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Nude_Sim_Bodies_Bug

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything you can do about it other than getting the original creator to patch their Body Shop and re-upload the content. I've had to give up having tons of nice clothes because I don't have Pets. And I probably should have at least alerted the creators, but I've been too lazy. Don't be like me... :-|
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / How do I reset a 'hood? on: February 29, 2008, 06:13:12 am
OK, maybe it's me who's behind on things then. But are you sure though (MissDoh) because this is the first I've heard of this? And looking at my Neighborhood folders at least, they don't appear any different than they did pre-OFB, it's not that long ago I installed it. Could you possibly elaborate on what/where exactly these important subfolders might be? I'd like to know because, I already used my method to restore Strangetown. :-| And it's been working fine so far, but I really don't want it suddenly blowing up sometime in the future. Thanks in advance...

I think there is an easier way to do it than what's described in that thread though: first go into your My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder and delete the N001 folder (after making a backup, just in case). Then replace it with a copy of the N001 folder found in the TSData\Res\UserData\Neighborhoods folder of your original The Sims 2 installation folder.

You should now have accomplished the same thing without having to delete and regenerate your entire Downloads folder.

Look under Game Options -> Lot View Options. The game probably turned these options down/off when you installed Seasons, possibly because it decided your computer could not handle them. Turning them back on may cause some lag, I think they may be especially hard on performance with Seasons and its weather effects.
