Now the next logical step in the evolution would be to make bats...    I'm game!

OMg I am too! I could use it for pictures... can we make a request? Cheesy

At first I was thinking "wow how mean poor little bats what did they ever do to deserve..." Then the realisation hit " OHHHH BASEBALL bats!"
Right, you guys do mean baseball bats right...?

This really is great I am grabbing it as I think my sims are tired of pillows too.
2  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problem with seasons install on: March 04, 2007, 11:40:36 pm
thanks yeah I figured i took it too literally. I worry too much I think. It isn't like i don't have backups if I screw up after all. Thanks for the words of re-assurance I am doing the reinstall now.
3  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Problem with seasons install on: March 04, 2007, 11:28:21 pm
Okay so i came here to read up before even trying to install seasons. I saved all my files and took out all my hacks. I was reading the install guide and saw a part that looked pretty important about NOT installing seasons in the same directory as the other sims2 game. So I made very sure not to do that. I tried launching the game and am getting nothing I get the seasons splash screen then it goes away and then ...nothing thats it. I open task manager and the program does not show up but if I try opening the game again I get the make sure sims2 or some other sims program is not running then try again screen. Again seasons DOES NOT show up in taskmanager even though apparently the system thinks it is running when I try to run the game again.
What i am afraid is that i misunderstood the thing about where to install the game. See I took it to mean not in the same directory period as in all my other sims2 expansions are under F:\Program Files\EA GAMES and then each has its own folder within that. When I installed seasons I took the warning about the directory to mean that directory as in F:\Program Files\EA GAMES
So when i installed it I installed it in K:\Program Files\EA GAMES
So again I think I may have misunderstood and I think my issues are because the game is just not being accessed properly since it is in such a different location than the other expansions. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? I feel a bit silly obviously...
4  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / *Possibly resolved--Spontanious reboot on: February 06, 2007, 11:21:55 am

My problem is possibly resolved, but more likely just a temp fix. Anyway, I added 1.5GB of ram to my computer, and was able to play yesterday for 5 hours without crashing.

Thats really good news for you Karial, and I think I fixed my problem the same way. Well sorta anyway. My husband got me new comp parts for both Christmas and then my birthday(which isnt quite here yet but I couldn't wait to put my new system together until the 10th) so I just upgraded my entire system. Besides having 2 gigs of dual channel ddr2 ram I am also running an AMD dual core 4600+ processor and an ATI radeon x1300 XGE vid card with 512 ram all sitting pretty on an MSI K9A platinum mainboard. My game runs without a hitch now. Still a bit slow to load but game play is smooth and fast. Once past the initial loading of the game neighborhoods, CAS, and lots all load pretty quickly and best of all no crashes since the upgrade. Currently I have been going through my content and trying to delete stuff just because there is new stuff I want to put in and I am forcing myself to get rid of at least a gig of content before I am allowed.

maybe someone will make such a program...just for download addicts who are afraid to delete content for fear of messing with in game sims and lots.
One can dream cant one?

I am having the same problem. I have a good system and just recently completely formatted and reinstalled my OS. After doing so I made sure to get all my updated drivers for all my hardware. I was having the issue prior to the format and was hoping that a clean system with all updated drivers would help. It didn't. Whats really depressing is I inevitably lose time when it happens. I save once maybe twice and then it will happen. Once it happend while I was saving. Anyway I am trying to clear out my downloads folder some in the hopes that that will help. I am thinking perhaps the shear size of it might be contributing to the problem.
Just a question but is your downloads folder large? Mine is huge...I am actually a bit embarrassed to admit how huge. I am such an addict.
Speaking of cleaning my downloads folder out does anyone know if there is an app out there for the sims2 that you can run and delete files in that will tell you if those files are being used in your game or not? Basically thats my biggest problem with trying to get rid of some of my extraneous crap. I am afraid that the objects/hairs/eyes/skins/ etc... might be being used by someone or some thingand that when I delete them it will mess up a lot or a sim. Generally when I make custom sims I lik them and would not like to have them inadvertantly altered by a deletion of some genetic they were using. So an app that would warn me I was about to get rid of something that was being used would be really nice.
Back to the issue at hand I really do think my problem stems at least partially from my giant downloads folder(okay, okay it is currently like 10.4 gigs I am so ashamed). I think it just bogs down my system when I run the game and eventually due to lack of system resources wham spontaneous reboot. Of course i definately could be(and probably am) wrong but it is my current theory none the less. Oh I have over 300 gigs of harddrive space my OS drive is partitioned and is only like 42 gigs. I have a 2.5 gigahertz processor, ati radeon pro 9800 with 256 vid ram, 1 gig(yes two matched sticks) of dual channel ram. So my system while not top of the line does not suck.

yes i agree bring on the merbabies! heck I am even willing to deal with the diaper issue if that is still the problem ust to have them in the game all the sooner! Maybe the diaper could be recolored to match the tails better? I don't know I realize I am babbling but I just can't wait for the little guys.

babies, as such, are controlled by the skintone - until we can figure out how to keep a diaper off the little buggers we won't be making them available

I really hope you manage to fix the diaper problem soon. I have been avoiding playing any merfolk hoping for the infants. I really love them and want it to be a full on genetic before I play them.

Any idea when the merbaby and skintone will be out? I just don't even want to play my mer household until everything is done. I love this project and cannot wait for it to be complete!

Ahh sorry, for some reason I thought when I grabbed the mermaid it said it included YA and elder, must have been misremembering from something else I downloaded. So thanks for letting me know and I will be on the lookout for the rest of these! I really do love them so far.

Okay questions about this mesh.

First Do they retain the tail while bathing?

Second is there some specific genetics/skintones attached to the mesh in order for it to display properly at all times? I was making a mermaid in bodyshop and while working on her I changed her from adult to young adult and then to elder to see what she would look like at each age stage. When I did this she lost her tail and was wearing just regular clothes instead. Shouldn't they maintain the tail through age progressions? If they should what could be causing mine to revert? I have all the available mer people files that are up so far so I know I am not lacking any. I checked the merman file for a readme and didn't see one just in case there was something in there that I should have been doing special for these to work properly.

I love these by the way and just want to make sure that they are functioning in my game as they are meant to. They are incredibly beautiful and I can't wait for the rest to complete the set.
