Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / bodyshop sim not in CAS bin

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Unfortunately the only expansion I have is Nightlife, so the Uni stuff doesn't apply here. She's an adult too, and I did scroll through all of them. She ain't there.
I just turned her into a guy in bodyshop, haha, maybe that'll do something. We'll see in a minute...
update: well... nope. changing the gender didn't help! maybe if i change the age? i'll try teenager.. *grasps at straws*
update update: Holy--well, that actually worked! I turned the adult female sim into a male teenager, packaged and clean installed her, and she showed up in CAS! So I just changed her gender/age back, and there you go. What a strange thing... haha. Maybe the install finally took or something. Yaay!
Thanks again, guys!

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / bodyshop sim not in CAS bin

I'm sorry if this problem has been dealt with before; I did a search but didn't find anything.
So here it is: I've been making bodyshop sims (CC'd to hell, of course), all fine, no problems. Until this ONE. She's in my bodyshop just fine, but does not appear ingame in the CAS bin. I have all the meshes. My CC is uncorrupted. I've tried packaging her from bodyshop and clean installing her back into my game: it says she installed, but she still doesn't show up.
It's only her, too. I made another bodyshop sim right after and he appears in CAS like normal.
Curiously enough, it's the same with her on an entirely separate computer, entirely separate game. She shows up in bodyshop, but not in CAS. She's not masquerading as another sim in my bin, either, because I checked through them all.
I'm running Sims 2 Deluxe on Vista, with a couple camera mods. No problems with any of it until just now, and, hopefully since the new guy is working, only now.
But I'd really like to get this sim working/hear a viable reason she's not. Any ideas, my friends? I'm at my wits end.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / saved sims becoming empty packages
|

okay here's the story: at the beginning of the summer i was having a field day creating sims in body shop... 31 in total. they were barely in the game before my dad's desktop decided to crash and... took them with it. i hadn't backed them up. so, i searched for everything .package with a recovery program and found them as well as several empty 1KB copies of them. I moved the NOT empty CC and saved sims onto flash drives for a computer transfer. i'd been meaning to get them on my laptop if i could anyway.
unfortunately ALL these .package files seem corrupted. from flash drives to computer they hold their sizes: sometimes thousands of KB for CC, in the low hundreds for saves sims. but AS SOON AS i open up the game or bodyshop, their file sizes revert immediately to 1KB. in clean installer they show up as empty packages. they don't appear in the game/BS at all.
i've re-downloaded my CC because i can't get it to hold its size. but i'm desperate to get my saved sims files to work, seeing as i can't re-download THEM. my laptop ONLY has sims2, nightlife, filemaid, and clean installer freshly dl'd. no hacks or mods.
they were the only versions of their files that the recovery program found... i don't understand why they keep reverting from a normal size to 1KB.
that said, two of the 31 sims ARE working. their file sizes do not shrink, unlike the others. they appear in game/BS just fine.
is there any way to install/open my saved sims without 'emptying' them?

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / The Sims 2 on Windows Vista (Updated 7 Feb 2007)

Heyloo. Long time lurker first time poster. I'm just wondering if anybody's heard a cure for the "the application has crashed. The application will now terminate" error. It's really kicking my ass. The furthest I ever got to playing on my new Sony Vaio was to the neighborhood screen, and that was for about a second. I've done clean uninstalls and reinstalls, have all the updates from ea, tried running it in compatibility mode and in a window... No change. I do have an assload of custom content, but it doesn't run even without it. Not to mention bodyshop, with it's error of, "Direct3D returned an error: D3DERR_INVALID CALL! The application will now terminate..." I like the exclamation point. And "derr" is right! Apparently the computer is using DirectX for things, but there aren't any updates to be installed to that end. It's a 32bit, Vista Home Premium, with a video card called "Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family". That doesn't have any updates either. So basically I've tried everything that's been suggested (for the range of problems that come with running sims2 on vista), but haven't seen a definitive solution yet that'll... work for me. I've tried running the game on my old XP, but it's the dvd version and my old computer doesn't have a dvd drive... So in sum, I'm in sims withdrawal. Does anyone know what's goin' on?
