1  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Bookcase problem on: October 02, 2008, 10:20:19 am
My Sims cannot study any of the new things on the bookcase.  I tell them to study one of those new items and they take the book out, sit down and then jump up like they had been shot out of a cannon and the book is gone.  They did that when Free Time came out and parenting was one of the things to study but when the renewed Monique's computer was released that cured the problem and they could study parenting.  Now I have the updated computers and my Sims still can't study fire prevention, etc.  I'm thinking it is probably two downloads I have that I have tried repeatedly to get rid of and cannot locate them in the downloads.  They are Wintermuel's mailbox and newspaper hacks.  They show up in red when I start my game, but are apparently listed in some obscure way in the downloads themselves so I can't locate them to get rid of them.  Can anyone tell me how to find them and take them out because they don't seem to be doing any good.  Any remarks or help would be appreciated.
2  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Me too!! on: October 02, 2008, 10:11:51 am
I'm having the same problem, so will look forward to seeing if the above action helps!  If it does, I'll try it too, except I don't quite understand what you do with this thing you download.  Do you put it in your downloads file?  Then how do you use it?
3  Resident Creators / Mod Requests / Transitioning pets on: September 20, 2008, 11:55:25 am
Is there any way to make the transitioning of pets a little less traumatic.  My pets are loved members of the family and when the Grim Reaper comes I'd like him to be turned into a beautiful angel, or at least have a few hula girls there to welcome them into the afterlife.
4  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Yep, that's it! on: September 20, 2008, 11:49:37 am
Thanks for the help.  Now I just have one more probably stupid question.  Do these files overwrite the old ones or do I need to take the old ones out?  I'm always afraid I won't get all the files when I have to take them out.  I look through all the threads under the downloads so try to find the answer but didn't see one, so hope I'm not going over really old ground.
5  Resident Creators / EP8 Mods / Monique's Computer/Laptop Varieties - Apartment Life (9-22-08) - UPDATED on: September 20, 2008, 11:40:26 am
Thanks, I've been waiting for this and kept checking.  Obviously I just didn't know where to look.  Quick question - do these files overwrite the old ones or do I need to take the old ones out and replace them with the new files?  I checked all the threads and didn't find this answer, so sorry if I'm covering old ground.  If I have to take them out I'm always afraid I won't get them all.
6  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Just wondering! on: September 20, 2008, 10:54:24 am
I was just wondering if the individual who updated Monique's computer for Free Time is working on an update for Apartment Life; and if so, if anyone has any idea when it might be available.  It is one of the three thing I use most in my Sims homes.  The Free Time one still works but I am having the same problems in Apartment Life that I had in Free Time before the update became available here at InSimenator.  So I'm hope an update again would solve my little difficulties.  I know these things take time, and I am certainly not one to complain because I appreciate so much all the had work that goes into these downloads that I use so gratefully; and I am not capable of making any of these things.  So thanks to all of you who share so generously!
7  Simmers' Paradise / Apartment Life Help / Can't pay the rent on: September 15, 2008, 11:04:56 am
I haven't had very many of my Sims in apartments just yet, and the first one just had the rent come due.  When I went to the mailbox to pay the rent there was no option to do so.  I thought, ah ha, when the new revamped InSimenator becomes available that will fix the problem.  Imagine my disappoinment when I found out that wasn't the difficulty.  I still can't pay my rent, so suppose I'm simply going to have to have my law-abiding Simmies skip town in the middle of the night without paying their rent.  (Don't know if you can even do that!)  Has anyone else had this problem and found out what the problem was.  I wonder if it is Monique's computer updated by someone on this site.  Do I need to take it out until it has been updated?  I certainly hope not because I use it in every home I have.  Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.  :?
8  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Oh yeah! on: August 30, 2008, 03:54:51 pm
As you probably guessed, that is one hack I can do without quite nicely with my squeaky clean game.  Thanks for sending me to check it out.
9  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / Thanks! on: August 30, 2008, 03:25:44 pm
That has been my mode of operations too.  I just don't do the plant sims, etc. and I won't do witches either.   I just hope the pros outweigh the cons.  Thanks for the information about the InSim and computer.  These updated versions will be available here at this site when they are ready, right?  Guess I am sort of paranoid because when I installed Free Time I had such a mess I called technical support for Sims 2 and what they led me to do destroyed my files and I lost all my neighborhoods and families (some 8th and 9th generations).  So had to begin all over again.  Yuk!!!  This was particularly annoying because I had backed up my game on a flash drive before I began the installation process  Don't ask me how it happened. I don't have the foggiest idea, but I know it did happen.  I had people who are knowledgeable about computers try to help me out and they couldn't figure it out either.  Anyhow, I want to be absolutely certain that the expansion pack is worth taking the risk again.  Again, thanks for your response.
10  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / I give up!! on: August 30, 2008, 02:35:35 pm
Okay, I give up.  I see ACR mentioned as a wonderful hack, but  I don't think I've ever heard of it.  What is it, what does it do and where would I get it if I decide I can't live without it?:tongue8:
11  Simmers' Paradise / Sims 2 Apartment Life Chat / I'm just not sure on: August 30, 2008, 02:25:40 pm
I have a birthday coming very soon and think I may very likely get Apartment Life as a gift.  The thing is, I'm not certain I want it.  Witches don't do a thing for me (would never use them), and the apartment idea doesn't overly float my boat either.  On the flip side, I have all the other expansion packs and fun packs, even from Sims1 and this is more than likely the final expansion pack for Sims2.  If you don't have it, you will be limited as to the downloads you can use.  (Is that important?)  I could do without most of my hacks (would't be happy, but I could manage) except InSimenator, multi painting and Monique's computer as updated by someone else the last time.  If those 3 things don't work, I think I'll pass on Apartment Life.  Does anyone have any words of advice or suggestions?
12  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Monique's computer on: May 30, 2008, 09:36:15 pm
Thanks for the quick response.  I've downloaded all of them, but have one further question.  Will this just overwrite the old files, or do I need to remove them?  I know in earlier versions they simply ovewrote the old files.
13  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Monique's computer on: May 30, 2008, 09:16:57 pm
I think I may have lost my mind, but I was certain that I saw a download for an undate of Monique's computer done by someone connected with this site.  Unfortunately I did't have time to do anything about it at that time, and now I can't seem to locate it.  Monique's computer has been part of my Sim game play for a long time so would love to have the update.  Am I losing it, or is it here somewhere and I just can't find it?  Thanks for your help!!!
14  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Double-barreled questions on: September 29, 2007, 06:04:47 pm
I have installed University, but it was a day after I installed the others because I couldn't locate it.  The university is there.  The problem lies in the fact that all the students I had at university are now in the Sims bin in the neighborhood instead of at the university.  They were most of them almost ready to graduate and now they will never be able to graduate apparently.  In the Sims bin they are all in a group just as they were in the dormitory.  I backed up my game before I got rid of my other computer so I have those files.  I wonder if I took the university file from my old game and replaced it for the one in the new game, if that would really mess things up or even if it would do any good.
15  Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / Double-barreled questions on: September 29, 2007, 11:23:56 am
I just bought a new computer because my old one just didn't cut it with Bon Voyage.  Now I need to know if I still need to download the CEP thing and if so, where do I find it?  One of the trees provided with Sims2 also flashes blue as downloads do when they are not supported by the game.  Any ideas about that?  The last really annoying thing is that I had four groups of young people in college in downloaded dorms.  Unfortunately I had to wait and put University back on last after I had played the game a little while because I had to locate it.  Now my students are all in the people bin, but not in the "college bin".  Even though my downloads are all in the rest of the game my downloaded dorms are gone.  Is there any way I can retrieve these things and graduate my students?:sad4:
