Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Teleport and Insimenator
|
on: March 10, 2008, 01:15:37 pm
|
Hi all,
One of my Sims managed to learn the teleportation technique from a ninja. Now I always had the teleportation option in the Sims menu, possibly from Insimenator, and everything still works.
But when the ninja teleports, he does a pose first and then teleports while my Sims just teleport. Should the Sims does a pose first before teleporting?
Thanks all.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Discussion / TS2 Making Magic

Agreed in full. I got so sick of seeing dead flowers in my yard, I used a move objects cheat and put the stalker in my toilet. He got stuck there and I was free at last! Minus the bit about needing a new bathroom. That must be the black rose he leaves, which became an important magic ingredient in Makin Magic.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / My Sims Games Died.

Yeah. I think the EULA, end user license agreement, states that you do not own the game, but just a license to use the game on one PC. The disk is inmaterial since it just a media for storing the information. So you should be entitled to a replacement disk. Whether EA will provide you will one, and probably at some charge, is unknown.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / New vid card constantly crashes
|

A molex, I believe that is what they called, is a power connector. It is for connecting to the PSU for additional power. Similar to connecting an internal HD to the computer PSU. If you do not have one, then the card does not need one.
The shared memory setting can be found under the BIOS setting. For internal and low end graphics cards, some of the main memory is reserved for the graphic chips since they do not have any dedicated ram. You can change the almount to reserve, freeing more ram. You could have a look to see if there is setting there related to the PCIe.
If the games do run fine for a while, then it could be heat related, although that would seem unlikely. You migh try to look for something that would report the temperature on the card. The nVidia driver can do that so maybe ATI might have something similar.

Have you tried the dxdiag ? Go to the start menu. Select run and type dxdiag. This displays some diagnostic info and also runs some basic test. You could try that. Does this happens for all your games ?
Secondly, did the X300 use shared memory ? You could go into the bios and check the settings. Your PSU is more than sufficient.
Did you connect a power lead from the PSU to the graphics card ? Midrange and up graphics cards requiring external power supply will behave oddly if the external power is not connected. By external power supply I mean the molex connecter for the card. This should be connected to the PSU like a hard drive. The necessary cables should be supplied. Low end cards like the X300 draws their power from the PCIe slot. The X1650Pro may have an additional power connector.
Why did you have to reseat the RAM ?

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Stuck sim after cancelling current action
|
on: April 23, 2007, 11:48:39 am

Problem partially solved. This time there was a window behind her which may have blocked her from leaving. Strange it did not stopped her from playing the piano in the first place.
I will keep the boolprop solution in mind in case if it happens again somewhere else.
Many thanks.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Stuck sim after cancelling current action
|

Hi all,
I have a rather serious problem with one of my Sims. She is frozen after I cancel her current action. She is playing the piano and when I cancel it and have her do something else, she stops and thats it.
She is stuck in some loop and would not exit. That is she is still sitting on the piano stool but does not nothing. I tried using another sim to interact with her but that does not help. I have seen it happen once or twice but managed to "fix" it and exiting and reloading the household. This time it does not work. So is there anyway to reset her ?
Thanks.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Help downloading!!!
|
on: April 19, 2007, 12:26:07 pm

Uhmm I tried all this, I have the files in the Download file, they are all unzipped.. But if I start the Sims game nothing pops up. So I went to the options button, and put the 'enable custom content' on, restarted my game, but in the box of the enable custom content there were no files, u don't see any downloaded things that can be enabled.. Please help, I don't know what I'm doing wrong.. Thanks a lot! I think I made a mistake. Try renaming the folder to downloads, with the s. Sorry about that. You should have a number of .package files in there. They should appear in your game.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Accessory blue?!
|
on: April 18, 2007, 09:16:56 am
|
I´m not sure if it´s Pets or Seasons causing it,since I installed them together but I have troubles with certain accessories...
All of the bigger things - swords, staffs etc. are gone, and instead, a floating blue thing appears next to the sim. Moreover, wings don´t have colors mostly, they are transparent. Even some smaller animal-sim accessories and some for the merefolk are missing and flashing blue.
Is there a fix for it somewhere? What should I do? All of my sims are fantasy sims and they will now be boring and normal... :smt120 Yes, they started appearing when Pets was introduced. As far as I know, no one know what is causing it. One suggested solution is to change the sim's appearance in the mirror. It may fix it, it may not.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Help downloading!!!

Hi Miss Jessy
First, welcome to the board and to the Sim2 gaming community.
Secondly, please do not post all in caps. This can be considered rude as it is usually interpreted as shouting.
To help you with install custom contents. First you need to create a folder called "download" in your save game directory. Here are instructions.
1. Click the "My Documents". This will open a window. There should be a folder called "EA Games". 2. Double click "EA Games" 3. Double click "The Sims 2" 3. Right click in the window. This will display a menu. 4. Select "new" then select "folder". This creates a new folder in the current folder. 5. Rename the folder to be "Downloads"
All your custom contents needs to be put in this folder. You can create sub folder inside this folder to organise your downloads.
Next you need to download the custom content you want. 1. Select the content from the many available. 2. Click the download file. This will vary depending on the content. A window will be displayed to either open or save to disk. 3. Select save to disk. This will display a window asking where you want to save the file. You can save it anywhere you wish, but keep a note of where that file was saved.
Finally, you need to install the file. The easiest way is to 1. Right click the file and drag it to your "The Sims 2\Download" folder. This brings up a menu. 2. Select the "Extract here" option. This will extract all the files in your download file to the destination folder. Sometimes there will be a pop message warning you there is already a file of the same name. This is normally a readme file from the author. 3. The new custom content should have the .package extension.
To try out the custom content, 1. Run Sims 2. 2. There will be a message telling you there are some custom content found. Select the enable custom content and they should be in the game.
Note. If when dragging the file, there is no "Extract here" option, it means windows do not recognise the file. You can check this by double clicking the file and see if Windows recognise the file, it will open it. If it fails, you will need to get an extractor. Most files have .rar as extension, meaning they are Winrar archives. Use google to find a Winrar extractor. Install that extractor and attempt to install afterward.
Hope this helps.
To anybody else reading this. Feel free to correct or amend the instructions. This is being done from memory and not from my home computer.

Simmers' Paradise / General Sims 2 Help / Sway above head jewelries

This has been noted before and I believe there was a sticky note in the forum about it, or maybe it was mentioned at MTS2.
If memory serves, no one knows exactly what is causing it and why. It just started to happen. For me it happened after Pets was installed so it may have been something to do with that expansion pack.
One advice is to use the mirror to change appearance. This may fix it although I do not know if it is a permanented fix. I have seen it in my game and so far, no solutions that I have come across.
